Hi Desirée/ Orkun,
Did you find a solution to the hanging issue of MMC.
It is not working in our case and we are struck for last 5 days and even SAP is not helping us with any inputs/ thoughts.
In our case, We have recently upgraded Windows to 2008 R2. SAP is coming up but MMC program hangs and has to be closed via CtR-ALT-DEL. After that mmc.exe process is started but MMC console does not comes up.
We get the following message in event viewer:
Log Name: Application
Source: Application Hang
Date: 9/9/2011 8:32:30 AM
Event ID: 1002
Task Category: (101)

Description:
The program mmc.exe version 6.1.7600.16385 stopped interacting with

available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel. Process ID: fcc
Start Time: 01cc6f03c402c248

We have upgraded Kernel, installed the latest MMC patch.
Please advise.

    Hi,
Looks like your mmc dll is corrupted, with your install and uninstall of software.
    Two Options:
    1. Upgrade the Kernel with latest Patch level, which comes with new SAPMMC.dll file
    OR
    2. Just download the SAPMMC*.sar file from service market place and extract in exe directory, since it is windows re-booting the server doesn't hurt.
Hope this helps. points are welcome.

  • SQL Server Configuration Manager snap in not getting created by Microsoft Manager Console

I just installed SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services.  I want to enable FILESTREAM so I can install the AdventureWorks sample database.  The instructions at this page:  http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc645923.aspx say:
On the Start menu, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft SQL Server 2008, point to Configuration Tools, and then click SQL Server Configuration Manager.
When I open SQL Server Configuration Manager I get an error message:  "MMC could not create the snap in, the snap in might not have been installed correctly.  Name:  SQL Server Configuration Manager."  Then it gives me a CLSID.
On this page:  http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms174212.aspx it says:  "Microsoft Management Console (mmc.exe) uses the SQLServerManager10.msc file in the Windows System32 folder to open SQL Server Configuration Manager."
I looked in the System32 folder and, sure enough, the file SQLServerManager10.msc is in there.  It's XML inside the file.
Please help.  I really need to get this SQL Server Configuration Manager working so I can enable FILESTREAM data and install the database.  I appreciate any help you can give.

    I'd try this first;
Go to the Run from the Start menu and type mmc and press enter to open an empty console. Under the File menu select "Add/Remove Snap-in". Click "Add" under Console Root and select the "Microsoft SQL Enterprise Manager" snap-in. Close windows until you are back to the mmc, and you can rename the "console1.msc" to default name which is "SQL Server Enterprise Manager.MSC" and save it under C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn (Default location of SQL Server 2000) - Obviously you want your 2008 installation folder and unfortunately I don't have it so I couldn't point you to it... http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/

  • Microsoft Management Console Snap-In / or similar download?

I am somewhat new to Oracle, and I have been working with the web-based Enterprise Manager for Oracle. I have recently found the Java-based Oracle Enterprise Manager Console. Does anybody knows of a good snap-in for the Microsoft Management Console that gives me the same capabilities - or something similar?
I am not much for the Java-based stuff, but I do like it better than the web-based Enterprise Manager. I like the way that it organizes and presents the information better.
    Any suggestions? Websites?

  • SAP BPC Management Console

Dear All, I have an installation of SAP BPC 7.0 SP7 Patch 1. On my Dev and Test servers, the Management Console works perfectly (they are both single server installations), but on the multi-server Production environment the web server part is not visible. The SQL, Analysis Services part work well, but I cannot get to see who's online and which aspx 's are active. The only thing that I can see for the web server part is the task manager part. I suspect a security setting or a specific service that is not started, but cannot find anything yet. The Event log on the web/application server only indicates that the WMI service was stopped, but nothing else. Has anybody else experience this kind of behaviour for the Management Console? Or does anybody know exactly which rights and permissions are needed and which services?
    Thanks,
    Manus Cornelius

If the ODBC logging is working correctly thatu2019s all that should be needed.
The MC reads the log tables to tell whou2019s online.  By default it logs to BPCLog in AppServer.
If you open up BPCLog, it looks just like an IIS log.
You can check to see if there are records in the table.
There is a stored procedure in the appserver DB you can run, sp_WhosOnline, which should return data.  If thatu2019s not returning data thereu2019s probably an issue with the logs.
    Other steps to verify:
    1. Make sure there is Login setup in security whose default DB is AppServer. Make sure under User Mapping that it's mapped to AppServer and has the roles of db_owner and public. Verify SQL is set up for Windows and SQL Server Authentication. Restart SQL services.
    2. Verify IIS under the Web Site tab, logging is set to ODBC logging. Click the Properties button and make sure the DSN is set to BPC_ManagementDSN, the table is BPCLog, and the username and password are those of the SQL login user you set up before.
    3. Make sure IIS Directory Security>Authentication and access control is set to Basic Authentication
    4. Set the Application Pool of the virtual directory 'Management Console' is set to BPC_ManagementAP
    5. In ODBC Data Source Administrator, click the Configure button with the BPC_ManagementDSN selected. Go through the wizard, verify it is using "SQL Server authentication with login ID and password" and input the username and password for your SQL login user.
    Good luck!

  • MMC (Microsoft Management Console) error when running Diskeeper on T61! How to solve?

The preloaded Diskeeper program ran well on my WindowsXP based T61. But recently, I think it's after I upgraded the system to Service Pack 3 and installed Office 2007, every time I tried to run Diskeeper, the following error message appears:
MMC has detected an error in a snap-in ...
Could anybody please help solve this?
    Thanks!
Message Edited by normyy on 10-06-2008 07:10 PM

This is a known problem that is a result of SP3. There is supposed to be a patch forthcoming but I've not seen a sign of it. When you get the error do you get a 3 choice menu, the second choice being Continue running and always ignore errors with this snap-in for the rest of the session? If you do, that would be the temporary solution until either Microsoft or Diskeeper pushes a patch, which seems to be a back-burner situation.

If noting else helps and in worse case perhaps re-install of Windows is necessary.

Well this has started coming just now , it was working fine except one point i want to highlight is that on the machine WAS620gui was installed and i upgraded to WAS640 gui , so is it related to with the upgradation of gui ?
    The error is :

    Hi
It seems that the registration of the sapmmc.dll failed.
You can recover SAP Management Console again by manually registering the MMC snap-in. Do the following:
Open a CMD.exe and walk through the directory containing the sapmmc.dll file (mostly is under %systemroot%\system32 directory) then execute the following command:
    Regsvr32 sapmmc.dll
You should see a message confirmation that registration was successful.
Then start mmc again...it should now work smoothly!
    Hope this helps!

I am new to SAP and currently trying to install SOLMAN 7.0 EHP 1 on Windows Server 2008 R2. I have read the documentation also. For JDK I have used "j2sdkfb-1_4_2_24-rev-b06-windows-amd64.exe" which looks to be working fine.
The installation process runs fine until it hits "Start Instance" the message on the bottom says "Starting instance xxx/DVEBMGSOO" (where xxx is my sid) and then its times out after 10 minute. After timing out I get the following error on the window.
An error occurred while processing option SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EhP1 > SAP Systems > Oracle > Central System > Central System( Last error reported by the step: ABAP processes of instance ORC/DVEBMGS00 ABAP: UNKNOWN did not start after 10:00 minutes. Giving up.). You can now:

Stop the option and continue with it later.
Log files are written to C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/SOLMAN/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS.
Though the installation steps are not fully completed but I do see SAP management Console and when I open it I see two process running "msg_server.exe" & "igswd.exe" The process dispwork.EXE starts in the beginning and then stops and stays stopped. I tried restarting all the process again but only tow of them starts and the process "dispwork.EXE" starts but then stops again. I also did a NEW installation considering a file could have been corrupted or something else but the installation process stops and the same place.
