SAP MMC-message sever is not being started.

Hi all,
In my personal laptop,I have installed SAP/4.6.Earlier it was working fine but now it is not working at all.Actually my system got affected by virus and onwards whenever I try to start application sever and database server, for few seconds it turns into GREEN and again turns into YELLOW.Really I am very poor in SAP Basis side so whatever i am getting,i am explaining.I tried to find out the technical reason behind this then found for few seconds message sever started after that it is being stop.So please help me out because I don't want to format my system. If you need more details like scrshot of error, error # then please let me know.
Regards
Ashish K

Hi
First you need to start the DB always then SAP. Hope you are following the same.
Check for log files in work dir. Stop SAP  & restart it again. Check which log file it is updating. Paste the error message which is mentioned in the log files (dev_disp, dev_ms,dev_W* log file)
Thanks,
Sushil

When the CDE comes up, there is a window "The DT messaging system could not be started".
It suggests looking in a number of files such as /etc/hosts.
Click OK gets back to login - so cannot login.
Failsafe login shows the following in /.dt/errorlog:

If I do sys-unconfig and reset DHCP to No, then the above problem does not appear.
Does anyone know what is going on here?

  • DT messaging system could not be started

    Hi All,
The system (Solaris 9 CDE) is attempting to access the internet, as it commonly does, but is unable to today. The ethernet port is active, as it was checked with a laptop. Upon rebooting the system, the following message appears after login:
    Action Required
The DT messaging system could not be started.
    To correct the problem:
    1. Choose [OK] to return to the login screen.
    2. Select the Failsafe Session.
    3. Check to see that the hostname is correct in these locations:
    /etc/src.sh
    /etc/hosts
    /usr/adm/inetd.sec
    4. Check to see any majic cookie related error messages in these locations:
    /var/adm/messages
    $HOME/.dt/errorlog
Now, "src.sh" and "inetd.sec" do not exist under the above pathnames. Nothing appears to be wrong in the "hosts" file. The "errorlog" says the following:
dtsession: Unable to start message server - exiting.
The messages file has some peculiar statements:
rogers600 bge: [ID 801725 kern.info] NOTICE: bge0: link down (initialised)
I am very very new to UNIX and Sun, and so any help anyone could provide would be truly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ashish

Well, it seems as if there are many ways to skin a cat. After a great deal of trial & error we found:
If the DNS entries in the zone file are commented out, even with the DNS configured in resolv.conf, e.g.
    domain xx.xxx.com
    nameserver feef:0:9::53
and the hosts file is configured properly
    and
    hosts: files dns is correct
    THEN
the DT login succeeds and DNS look on all other host suceeds--- IF HOWEVER -- the entry in the zone file is reactivated, upon reboot the DT messageing error again appears.
Finally, we simply copied the hosts file entry in to ipnodes in /etc/inet and that was it!!!!
    e.g,
    ::1 localhost
    feef:0:9::xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx myname loghost
In case you are wondering we are running an all IPv6 setup

  • XL reporter not being started from terminal user

    Dear Experts,
The excel reporter add-on is not getting started from the terminal client. It says, "add-on connection timed out" and says displays another message, " an attempt was made to reference a token that does not exist."
Please share your ideas and oblilge.
    Thanks.
Edited by: Darius Heydarian on Apr 2, 2008 2:52 PM

what version of .NET framework they're using?
    Several useful information:
    - The exel reporter can only work in .NET 1.1, so if the client has the .net 2.0, it doesn't mean that it will work. it's not backward compatible, and XLReporter must be in .NET 1.1, so the solution is in SAP NOTE no:918188. So refer to this note if .net is really the cause. then you have to download the file (very small around 1KB), and paste it in the ...\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11 and replace the file
EXCEL.exe.config with the one you just downloaded (which has the same name but with small capital letter).
IMHO, the best practice is to keep the original file and put the "_" in front of it. so that you won't lose the original file.
-XLreporter do not work in Office 2007, so the client must use office 2003. This one I just heard around other SAP Consultant that involved with the problem, I didn't really get involved yet with this one
    Hope this helps...

    Martin

  • Backups are not being started....volumes do not exist?

I am having issues where backup jobs are not getting started/completed.
I can see in the "jobs" report that there are many attempts (sometimes 50+) to run the job, but it never completes.
I believe the OSB software is looking for a volume that does not exist in the tape library. It's possible that they may have existed at one time (though I'm not sure), but I've run inventory several times and for what ever reason it does not exist anymore. I do not see anything in the "manage->location report ->missing" reports. I've looked in obcleanup and nothing is listed there either.
Is OSB really looking for a volume that doesn't exist, or is something else going on?

"device reported incorrect serial number" is the key here.
Your device is misconfigured and the entry for its serial number doesn't match the serial number being reported by the scsi enquiry. Has a drive been replaced? If the drives have swtiched order due to a reboot then I suggest you use /dev/tape/by-id as your attach points rather than direct /dev/sg entries.

  • Messages in queue not being delivered

    Hi
I am using IMS 5.2. After a recent migration of user accounts to an new login ID, some user's emails are not being delivered to thier accounts and are accumulating in the ims-ms queue. When I did the migration, I copied the user's email to thier new account. I did reconstruct -f -r a couple of times, and emails appeared to be delivered to the new login accounts.
There were a few emails left in the queue but now there are close to 6000 and users are not getting emails delivered. When I look at the message in the queue, they state the user is overquota. I checked the user's account and they are not overquota.
Any suggestions on how to correct the problem or get the message to be delivered?
    Thanks
    Randy

    Jay,
iPlanet Messaging Server 5.2 (built Feb 21 2002)
    libimta.so 5.2 (built 15:07:23, Feb 21 2002)
    SunOS cpmail 5.8 Generic_108528-27 sun4u sparc
    SUNW,Ultra-60
This is the original release. There have been over thirty patch/hotfix releases, and hundreds of fixes. I URGE you to go to Sun's download site, and get 5.2p2, and install it immediately. Thanks for the advice Jay. The product is installed as part of the portal we are using(which I upgraded last June). I was unaware of the versioning and patches that are associated with the version of IMS that was installed. I will move forward with confirming with our portal vendor that the latest sp and patches will support the integrated IMS.

How did you "migrate" your users to new login id?When you "copied" the files, did you re-set
    ownership/permisions of the files?
I used the following process in a script to migrate
the users from old login to new login:
    1. created the new login mailbox with mboxutil -c
    2. moved new mailbox to different partitions
There is a utility/command that does all of this for you.
    mboxutil -r
When you "moved" the mailbox, I assume you use unix cp, right? Bad Idea.
current versions of mboxutil do this all for you, and don't need reconstruct afterwards.
I suspect that you have either not properly "moved" your user in LDAP, folder database, or have gotten file ownership or permissions wrong after the move.
Unix files are owned by a user and group, and have various read/write permissions set by the OS. YOu're on a Unix system, so you should know about such.I tried using the mboxutil -r initially but was getting a lot of errors with it in my test environment. In hindsight, I am thinking this had to do with the version of IMS I have installed. The unix file move was done with the IMS admin so would also own all the the messages etc on the OS side. I have obviously made a mess of things! So again, I will put in a support call to our portal vendor about how to proceed on this. I really appreciate your input into this.
    3. retrieved hashed directory information for old and
    new mailbox for user
    4. copied files from old to new mailbox with cp -R
    oldmailbox/* newmailbox/
    5. after all users were migrated, I did a reconstruct
    -f -r, and a reconstruct -f -m
I am not sure what you mean by re-set
    ownership/permissions.
Have you looked at the "default" log for an errormessage?
I found the following errors in the default log:
    default.60.1093908097:[31/Aug/2004:04:15:01 -0600]
cpmail stored[28697]: Store Critical: Error checking
    mailbox database: Ignoring log file:
    /usr/iplanet/ims52/msg-cpmail/store/mboxlist/log.00000
    00543: magic number 0, not 40988
    default.62.1094084554:[02/Sep/2004:04:15:02 -0600]
cpmail stored[20883]: Store Critical: Error checking
    mailbox database: Ignoring log file:
    /usr/iplanet/ims52/msg-cpmail/store/mboxlist/log.00000
    00543: magic number 0, not 40988
Your reconstruct command may have been wrong, too. That's what the errors are telling you.
Also, there are other problems in your system. Permission problems, most likely.
I would do a reconstruct -m, first. and see if the above goes away.I will proceed with what you suggested, and let you know the results. Again, thank you very much for your time and input for this.

AS well, when I do a mboxutil -u on an affected user,
the quota information says the user is well under
    quota. For example:
    $ mboxutil -u xxxxxxxxx
    diskquota size(K) %use msgquota msgs %use user
    25600 2604 10% no quota 19
    19 xxxxxxxxxxx
The error message doesn't really have anything todo with quota.>>
    >>
In imta/queue/ims-ms, the user has 183 messages
waiting to be delivered. All of the messages say the
    user is over quota.
    Any suggestions?
Randy, you need to re-think how you're moving users. You have somewhat messed up your mailstore. . . I will in re-think things. In fact, I have a number of users to migrate. I will stop what I am doing and get this right before I proceed! There is no sense compounding the problem when there is a better alternative. One thing for sure, I will continue using this forum before I proceed with messing with a production system!
You may need to contact tech support for the immediate help you will need to straighten this all out.>>

    RandyThanks Jay.

  • Unable to login: SAP System Message: Dynpro does not exist

    Hello All,
I'm created a test system to practice our upgrade post steps on.  I created a pared down copy of one of our other systems.  When I try to login, I get a popup message saying: Dynpro does not exist.
To create the pared down version, we used empty files for:
    COEP
    GLPCA
    BALDAT
    MSEG
    BSIS
    LIPS

    ZHYPFIO
    AUSP
    VBOX
    JCDS
    VBAP
We don't think these being empty is the problem, but I wanted to mention it just incase it is.
Below is the dev_w0 log.  I've been searching Google / SDN / OSS for some of the errors but haven't come up with anything yet.
Any insight you might have into this would be appreciated.  Thank you.

  • Lines of message in Mail not being received by Windows users

In the last few days I have started having problems with Windows users not receiving all the lines of my messages. I have been using Mail software for years with no trouble. I think some whole messages that I have sent have also gone astray but it's hard to be sure.
    Can anyone help ?
I can't send PDFs of all my messages - it would take too long as I send a lot of messages.
    powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

It is certainly possible to send/forward attachments that are infected with a Windows virus but your Mac does not have a virus since there are none that affect or infect OS X which just had it's 6th birthday not long ago.
It is a good idea to place attachments below all message text including a signature regardless if sending to an Mac or Windows PC user since all email clients with either platform do not display attachments inline or viewed in place within the body of the message.
But they are not arriving at various recipients, not just only one.
And this has never happened before. It seems odd that different
servers should suddenly all start rejecting my emails.
Yes it seems odd but this is NOT caused by your Mac, by OS X or by the Mail application. Since the messages were successfully sent, the problem lies with the SMTP server being used to send messages with the account or with the recipient's incoming mail server with the latter being the most common.
Your email address or the domain for the address or a range of computer IP addresses may now be mistakenly blocked by the incoming mail server or domain for these recipients but the recipient's incoming mail server is usually where any such problem lies regardless.

  • SAP QM - Message QE405 is not appearing in QE51N

    Hi guys,
Im working in hte area QM in SAP (ECC 6.0) and I need to know where one can configure the following funcionality:
In trx QE51N one is entering results for an inspection lot.
If the caracteristic shows values lets say  between 2 - 10 and one enters 11, a warning message should appear saying that "the value one has entered is too big, check again " (tipo de mensaje QE405)
I checked that in Inspection lot Class 05 this message is appearing but in class 03 (produccion) it is not.
I also found out that the message appears in one Plant (1111)But in another plant it does not appear (1156). For class 03!
Can anyone help me in this one?
    Maybe there is ABAP involved?
    Thank you
    Aart

In the recipe of the material (C203), the inspection caracteristics had the following values:
    Range: 2-10
    Plausible limits 0 - 100
The message appears if the value of the result entered (QE51N) is outside the plausible limit range.
    Cheers,
    Aart

  • Ipod unable to use due to Mobile device Serivce not being started.

When I connect my Ipod touch to my Windows XP computer iTunes recogines it, however a message comes up saying " This ipod cannot be used because the apple Mobile Device Service in not started. I have connected other Ipods into the computer and they have been recognised and synced fine. What can I do to overcome this problem??
    Jack

    Hey Jack,
You can try manually starting the Apple Mobile Device Service as described in this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307078
You'll probably want to uninstall and reinstall iTunes if this continues to happen. The steps are listed in the same article under "Remove and reinstall iTunes and AMDS."
