Security Auditing - NetWeaver 2004s Portal

Hello - I am currently looking at the options for performing security auditing in the NetWeaver 2004s portal.
I've used the NWA to enable security logging, as documented :

And, have started to create a custom audit report. However, it does appear that the information that can be reported on is rather cryptic. Not overly useful.
Our requirement is to be able to log ALL actions (specifically changes) that SUPER users can perform (we call these firefight users.)
Has anybody tried to use the auditing capabilities within the portal (netweaver 2004s) to do this? Any input, advice?

Can I install SAP Netweaver 2004s trial on WIndows vista home premium. Please advise.
One more thing is I am not able to download the Trial version from the SAP's FTP site. Because ftp is blocked in our company. Is there any other site from which I can download the trial version. Please advise.

In this Forum it appears that Windows 2000 with SP4 will work as well (haven't tried it).
If you've got VISTA you could consider running the trial on a Virtual Machine. Parallels, and vmware offer commercial vm products for generating Virtual machines whilst Microsoft (Virtual Pc2007) and VBOX offer Free virtualisation products. Vmware also provides a FREE vmware server virtualisation product --this works fine as well although no multi-media support. However if you only need the Virtual Machine to run the Netweaver trial then that's no big deal.
As I've posted elsewhere a Win XP pro Virtual Machine using only 512MB of RAM will give quite adequate performance of the ABAP trial. Don't even THINK of the Java edition unless you've got at LEAST 2GB - even on a Virtual Machine.

I am trying to install Sneak Preview SAP NetWeaver 2004 and 7.0 - Full Java Edition with SAP NetWeaver Portal onto my machine.
On the third step of installation-- install common system files-- I am getting the some error messages and the installation was stopped. Can anyone kindly provide some assistance?

I am not sure if this helps, but SAP_J2E_LocalAdmin exists in my system as a group not user.

Installation Problem - SAP Netweaver 2004s Full ABAP Edition Trail

Hi I got a problem while installing SAP Netweaver 2004s Full Edition Trail
I am using the following installation guide as reference

For how long the installation process has been running. Check the following.
1. The virtual memory page size that you have assigned.
2. The hard disk free space.
3. The Virtual memory should be optimized size, should not be larger than the free space available.
These are performance optimization settings.
I guess the installation would take around ten hours, I am not sure.
But one thing is sure SAP is not that bad to get aborted abruptly.
Keep Patience while installing. Before that take care that your system satisfies, requirements.

I'm currently working on a project where I need to develop with EP 6.0. For testing my development I wanted to download the SAP NetWeaver 2004 Java Trial Version from

You only need SAPGui to logon to ABAP instance...
If you installed a Java Instance.. you need to logon using your browser... URL is in the manual.
For the J2EE engine page,
http://<hostname_with_fqdn>:500<instance_number>
If there a portal installed,
http://<hostname_with_fqdn>:500<instance_number>/irj/portal
All this info is contained in the installation guide.

1) We can still use the old ABAP environment to publish your Web Queries, but only the 3.x ones !
 If you want to switch to BI 7 Queries (or other BI 7 Web components) then you will have to use the SAP Netweaver Portal (call it SAP Portal, SAP Enterprise Portal, SAP Netweaver Portal, BI portal... it still is EP 7.0)
The SAP Netweaver Portal is the runtime environment for all BI 7 Web elements.
2) Yes, you can use Visual Composer (available with the SAP Netweaver Portal....)

SAP Netweaver 2004s server refuses to start

Hi All,
Well i have recently SAP Netweaver 2004s .
Till yesterday everything was working fine.
The Portal administrator name is :
Admin name :administrator
password :password1
Then i made a mistake and gave a wrong password for administrator for atleast 3 times.
I guess the account got locked
Now i am not able to login in to the system.
In order to activate the sap* user ,I ran the configtool.bat .
I went to clusterdata==>Global service configuaration==>com.sap.security.core.ume.service.
I made the follwing changes.
use.admin.superactivated=TRUE
password=password1
I saved the settings.
I tried to restart the server form the sapmmc.
The server refuses to start.
I am stucked.
Which logs should i check.
Is ther any diagnostic guide which i can refer for this.
Can you please help me.

French language for SAP Netweaver 2004s SneakPreview

Hi everybody,
Anyone knows if there is any way to install the french language on the Sneak Preview version of SAP Netweaver 2004s ?

SAP NetWeaver 2004s SR 1 SP9 INSTALL

I spent last week trying to install SAP Netweaver 2004s SR 1 SP9 in XP SP2 with no success.
The JDK version is 1.4.2_09 and the install process fail in step "Import Java Dump", the sapinst.log indicates the error:

I have read many posts in many forums and there are some posts about the same problem of the table J2EE_CONFIGENTRY, but never clear answers (or answers for Linux OS). I really appreciate any help about it.
PD: No, it's not the timezone configuration (I have GMT+1 and daylight saving enabled).
