Hi,
On 1. September Gartner Release an new research Docoment called "SAP NetWeaver: The Past, Present and Future".
Im not able to read it ... but maybe here somebody knows and can tell me what gartner thinks specially of PI.
If you don't now something about the report. I'm intrested in personal opinions as well.
Does an Investment from Customer side into PI makes sense, is there a long term strategie from SAP for PI.
The same for developers .... what you think about the PI consultants future?
I now there are already some simliar threads... but i didn't find something special to these gartner report.

Error in installing SAP Netweaver 7.02

Hi all!
I'm new in SAP and installing the version 32-bit in Windows XP - SP2.
View the error bellow:
An error occurred while processing option SAP NetWeaver 7.0 including Enhancement Package 2 > SAP Application Server ABAP > MaxDB > Central System > Central System( Last error reported by the step :Path component contains reserved character (':'): C:)

Check the path of DVDs defined for the installation process. Ensure that no blank spaces and special characters are present in the path.

Do a new layout on SAP NetWeaver Portal need more Performance?

Hello,
we want to create a new layout on SAP NetWeaver Portal in the Corporate Design of our company. Somebody said me, that a change from the standard layout needs a lot of more Performance on the server. Is that true?
At the present time our server already works very slowly with the standard layout. Is it useful to change the layout? Or do we need a better server for that?

Use standard light framework and design your layout without heavy weight components.

Problem while adding SAP Netweaver 7.3 As Java in Solution Manager 7.1

Hi All,
We are facing strange problem while configuring managed system- SAP Netweaver 7.3 As Java in Solution manager 7.1 SP3. We added this system in SLD of solution manager and synchronized it with LMDB. As a result this As Java system is present under Technical systems in SMSY. Now we are assigning Product system to it with Landscape verification tool. But the problem is when we try to save after assigning Product version as SAP Netweaver and Product as SAP Netweaver 7.3. It always gives below error:
Fatal error trying to update Technical System (UPDATE_TSYSTEMS). Update could not be executed.
Product instance 54 not found
Product instance number error keep on changing depend upon what usage i select like ADS 7.3, Application Server Java 7.3 etc.
Please suggest if someone has faced this issue.

Try to select only one product instance in LMDB and saved. After that, you can add more product instance in SMSY.

Connecting SAP Netweaver ABAP Trial Version from 2 Laptops

Hi All,
I have a scenario where in I have installed SAP NetWeaver ABAP Trial 7.1 version on one Laptop. All the Presentation and application server are also installed on the same laptop and everything is working fine. Here NetWeaver is installed on Windows Vista.
Now, I would like to connect to SAP NetWeaver from another Laptop. In the other laptop i have Windows XP installed. I will install the SAP Front end and will supply all the application server details.
Is this approach proper or do i need to do something more to it?
It would be great if someone can provide some more information on this. I checked the Forum for this but as of now i couldn't find much resources or discussion on this.

yes. It's true the SAP is still a client Server Application, but is SAP NW AS ABAP Trial version also supports - multiple systems?
If yes how does it do this? What are all the configuration settings required?
I have checked the SAP GUI for the main laptop where my NW AS is installed and found that the application server is configured as localhost. If there is no proper address of the application server then how to connect it with the system from another laptop?

Migrating SAP NetWeaver WebDynpro 7.0 Applications to WebDynpro 7.3/7.4

We are trying to migrate applications from SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.0 to 7.4. The applications were created using SAP NetWeaver WebDynpro Java 7.0 and we're trying to import the Development Components (DC) using SAP NetWeaver Development Studio CE 7.3. However we're encountering an error after rebuilding and repairing the applications
Error Details:
Generation of component ****Comp is terminated with an exception (com.sap.ide.mmservices.wd.general.NoWebDynproContentException: No Web Dynpro content found for project "***". If this project is a Development Component, check if "SapMetamodelWebdynproContent.zip" is present in the classpath.) [Error: com.sap.ide.webdynpro.generation.eclipse.GenerationEclipse Thread[Worker-29,5,main]]
The project was not built since its built path is incomplete. Cannot find the class for com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Client.
The type com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Client cannot be resolved. It is indirectly referenced from required .class files
Any ideas regarding the errors?

Graphical display of best practice for implementing SAP NetWeaver

in a presentation I need to show best practice to implement SAP NetWeaver is evaluating required KPIs, characteristics and so on and subsequently verifying the Business Content functionality and objects against these requirements.
Can anybody provide a presentation or PDF document in which this process is displayed graphically? I am looking for a significant picture / diagram ...

SAP Netweaver 7.0 - J2EE Server Stopped exitcode -2

Hi All,
I am trying to Install SAP Netweaver 7.0 Preview software on to my system I have successfully done that . But when i am trying to start J2E ( i.e J2EE Server Name ) - the J2ee Server present is getting stopped saying Java VM has crashed .
Can you please suggest what needs to be done . My system confguration is 2GB Ram , 120 GB hard drive .

Anytime the j2ee engine dies unexpectedly you must check the following log files in the work directory, std_server0.out and dev_server0. The dev_server0 will usually provide the exit code with a small description and the std_server0.out will provide the runtime details. In the std_server0.out search for "OutOfMemory" as this is one of the most common issues. Try to find the section of the std_server0.out that appears just before you see the restart occurring (before managers are restarting). Please provide any exception information you find there and the details just before the exception such as garbage collection data

Business Explorer Tool for SAP NetWeaver BW

Hi,
I'm not an expert SAP.
I need to know SAP BW and BEx Business Explorer Tools.
I downloaded and installed version of SAP Netweaver trial for Windows 32-bit that I found at this link:

"Only assign one SAP NetWeaver product version to product system"

Greetings,
Somehow, after upgrading my PI system from NW 7.11 to NW 7.4, the SAP-XICONS component was left at the lower version. Everything else was upgraded and SUM didn't complain about this component. The component was present in the stack.xml file and the SCA was available. Yet somehow it was missed.
Now I am unable to use SUM to update the component. There seems to be no way to get the LMDB to reflect the actual versions of this system and have Maintenance Optimizer function.
After I assigned everything in the LMDB, the Verification Check says "Only assign one SAP NetWeaver product version to product system". And then MOPZ gives errors such as: "Wrong Netweaver product version found SAP NETWEAVER 7.4" and "Multiple Netweaver Product Version were found".
However, if I remove the assignment of 7.11, MOPZ is still unable to calculate the queue. It even gives the same errors.
How can I fix this? Is there some other way to generate the stack or get SUM to upgrade the component?

The root cause was MOPZ marking the component incorrectly in the stack XML.
The resolution was to use telnet to 5xx08 to manually deploy the SAP-XICONS archive.

BEx Analyzer through SAP Netweaver ABAP trial version

I doubt if the BW component is present in the NW 7.0 Abap trial.Please check this in Tcode spam -> supp. package levels (all components are listed.there, or via system information in the gui menu.
When component BW is present you can install Bex/Wad etc. via the sapgui CD.

Where I can download SAP Netweaver 7.1 ????

Hi guys,
Currently I'm running SAP Netweaver 7.0 ABAP Trial version, configured to run BI.
I installed SAP NW 70 Presentation 710 Composite Core, so now I have the following applications: Analyzer, Query Designer, Report Designer, WAD.
Well, everything seems ok but when I try to run any of this applications nothing happens. Also, If I put the cursor over the executable files I can read the following message: "Can Only be used in SAP Netweaver 7.1"
So, the question is WHERE I can download SAP Netweaver 7.1?
I am not sure if this is the right path in sap marketplace:
Installations and Upgrades-> SAP NetWeaver-> SAP NETWEAVER-> SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.1
CE stands for Composition Environment...that's why I'm not sure is this is what I need to run Analyzer, Query designer, etc.

You can also download that from this location in service market place.
Go to Downloads->Installations and Upgrade->Search for Installations and Upgrades and key in NW CE 7.1 and choose the component you would want to download.
