SAP Note 754143: SC names = 10 chars

SAP Note 754143 says, "Use only 10 characters for the software component name and for the vendor."
Wow! And no explanation is given. I assume, first of all, the note refers to software components defined in the SLD. 10 characters seems to be a pretty severe restriction, and I have not seen this advise anywhere else (in fact the example in the SAP Press book <i>Java Programming with the SAP Web Application Server</i> by Karl Kessler et al uses the software component JBOOK_EMPLOYEE = 14 chars).
Does anyone have any comments on this or experience using SC names > 10 chars, with or without problems? Any ideas on why this recommended limit?

Hi Randy,
In my opinion they have given this warning because older version of windows operating system do not support names longer than 8/10 characters.
Software Components names form folders on the local PC.
I believe they must have given this restriction because of this reason.
Just a thought.

  • The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site

    Hi Guys,
Every time when we login to SAP Business One, we are getting two identical security Alerts, that we needs to click "Yes" twice.
Text of error: “The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site”
We tried to install certificate, but it is not solved this certificate issue and the alert still pops up on login.
I guess, something wrong with dashboard settings, but don't really know what exact and how to fix it.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
It is a one-time error or do this occurs each time ?
Did you choose a really long name or something (the "String offset" description tends to prove it has to deal with some string length) ?
    Otherwise, open an OSS message.

    Hi Ashok,
for your requirement the application is not exist in particular place. It means, the webdynpro application is saved at different package or different location.
Please change the webdynpro component name and save it in particular request in package, then transport it to quality ..(development server )
then go to SICF  t.code .. sap->bc->webdynpro->sap->find  out your application and activate the service of your webdynpro application.
Now test it ... this solution might helpful to you .

  • SAP Notes 488619 & 864481

    Hi All,
has anyone tried to implement SAP Notes 488619 & 864481 for SRM 4.0 (SRM Server 5)?
These notes are supposed to correct the fact that the BAPI's for transferring Purchase Order data only transfer 22 characters for the Vendor Part Number, after applying these notes (and two other notes to R/3) then 35 characters should be transferred.
I get the following errors when trying to implement these notes
Note 488619 - cannot add field VENDOR_MAT_LONG with component type
IDNLF to structure BBPS_BAPIEKPOC as error message "Field
VEND_MAT_LONG: Component type or domain used not active or does not
          exist" is generated.
Note 864481 - the structure BAPIEKPOC which is described in the note
does not exist in EBP nor does the component type LABNR.
Has anyone ever applied these notes? I've logged this with SAP but as the system version is old they claim it's charageable work.
    Cheers
    Chris

    Hi
<b>Please ensure you have done the following activities as mentioned in the SAP OSS Note - 488619.</b>
    1. <b>Implement Notes 826541, 444770 and 455879.</b>
    2. <u>First, check whether Note 864481 needs to be implemented in your system (this depends on the back end that you use).</u>
    3. For SRM 3.0 or lower, proceed as follows:
    Call transaction SE11.
Enter structure "BAPIEBANV" as the data type and choose "Change".
Add field "VEND_MAT_LONG" to the structure and use component type "IDNLF".
    Save and activate your changes.
Proceed in the same way for the following structures:
                        BAPIEBANV
                        BAPIEBAN
                        BAPIEBANC
                        BAPIEKPOC
                        bbpekpoc46b
                        bbpekpoc46c
                        BAPIEKPO
    Call transaction SE80.
In screen 3001 of function group "BBP_SC", replace field 'BAPIEBAN-VENDMAT' with field 'ITEMS-PARTNER_PROD'.
    Save and activate your changes.
    4. For SRM 4.0:
    Call transaction SE11.
Enter structure "BBPS_BAPIEKPOC" as the data type and choose "Change".
Add field "VEND_MAT_LONG" to the structure and use component type "IDNLF".
    Save and activate your changes.
    5. For SRM 5.0:
    Call transaction SE11.
Enter structure "BBPS_BAPIEKPO" as the data type and choose "Change".
Add field "VEND_MAT_LONG" to the structure and use component type "CHAR35".
    Save and activate your changes.
Proceed in the same way for the following structures:
                        BBPS_BAPIEKPOC
                        BBPS_BS_RQ_ITEM_45B
                        BBPS_BS_RQ_ITEM_46C
                        BBPS_BS_RQ_ITEM_470
                        BBPS_BS_PO_ITEM_45B
                        BBPS_BS_PO_ITEM_46B
                        BBPS_BS_PO_ITEM_470
                        BBPS_BS_PO_ITEM_470_1
                        BBPS_BS_PO_ITEM_ERP10
                        BBPS_BADI_PO_ITEM_1
                        BBPS_BADI_RQ_ITEM
                        BBPEKPOC46B
                        BBPEKPOC46C
    <b>Caution:
The structures that are specified in this note must be exactly the same in the EBP system as they are in the relevant back-end system. If the structures differ, adjust them. If you do not adjust them, it is very likely that the solution will not work. This means that you must also create fields that exist in the BAPI* structures in the relevant SRM structures.</b>
    6. Implement the correction instructions.
<u><b>As mentioned in the SAP OSS Note 864481 - Changing struct 'BAPIEKPOC' of Release 4.6C and 4.7</b></u>
Consulting Note. - After implementing note 626747 or applying Support Package SAPKH46C46 for R/3 46C or Support Package SAPKH47016 for R/3 470, structure 'BAPIEKPOC' is extended to a new field.
Make the following changes according to listed steps:
    1. Add the following features to structure BAPIEKPOC using Transaction SE11 (Field 'Data type') after the last field:
    2. For releases EBP3.0 and EBP3.5:
    a) Component     : PR_CLOSED
    b) Component type: EBAKZ
    3. For Releases EBP3.0, EBP3.5, EBP4.0, SRM 4.0, SRM 5.0:
    a) Component     : ACKNOWL_NO
    b) Component type: LABNR
    4. Save and generate the object.

  • KE5Z : UserExit or SAP Note for adding new fields in the report output

    Hi,
I want to add 2 new fields in KE5Z (Profit Center: Actual Line Items) report output.
Order reason(AUGRU), Sales Document Type (AUART) fields.
Is there any UserExit or SAP Note available for this....
    Thanks in advance,
    fractal

    Hi Fractal,
See if Note 92864 will help you.
    Summary
    Symptom
Through a modification, it is possible for you to include additional fields in the profit center line-item reports 'actual' and 'plan' (Release 3.1*).
    Additional key words
    KE5Z, KE5Y, RCOPCA02, RCOPCA08 -
    SUPPORTGUIDE 20010613143936 -
    REPORTWRITER,
    SGRW_OM SGRW_PS SGRW_PC SGRW_SL SGRW_PCA SGRW_EC SGRW_LIS
    Cause and prerequisites
The fields must be located in table GLPCA (for actual) or GLPCP (for plan).
For Release 3.0F, you should ensure you have applied Note 62511 first.
    Solution
To include a field in the actual line item report, proceed as follows:
Call the ABAP/4 Dictionary (Transaction SE11) and display table GLPCA. You can then find in a line the field name and data element for the field you want to include.
Return to the initial screen of the ABAP/4 Dictionary. Now change the structure RPCA2. If the structure does not yet contain the field, you select Edit -> Insert field; enter the field name and data element. Do not insert the new field at the beginning of the structure but in the rear half of the structure.
Then save and activate the structure.
Now call the ABAP Editor (Transaction SE38). Change the source code of program RCOPCA02. Insert the lines set out in the attachment in FORM routine FIELDCAT_FILL. When you do this, replace SGTXT by the field name of the field. If you normally want the field to be displayed when you the access the report, delete the line   afield-no_out      = 'X'.                "<<<< insert Note 92864 .
You should note that the place where you insert the lines influences the position of the column in the report list.
To include a field in the Plan-line-item report, carry out the same procedure except with table GLPCP, structure RPCA8 and program RCOPCA08.
Note: Pls check if these 2 fields are available in any of the layout versions you have available with the transaction.
    Cheers,
    Vikram
    Pls reward for helpful replies!!

  • Xformbuilder error ... Could not save document Name/Name-Schema.xml

    Hello everyone,
We're using 7.00 SP14 and I have a problem with the xml forms builder on one of our systems. We're having a 3 system landscape - all three are on the same patch level etc.
I was able to create a new xml form on one machine, unfortunately it doesn't work on our P-system. I tried to create a new form as well as copied an existing one - with the same error result.
While saving a project the following errors appear:
The following error occured when saving the schema: Could not save document Name/Name-Schema.xml. Reason: Operation is not supported
The project could not be saved on the server. Do you want to save a local copy?
Oct 13, 2008 2:45:43 PM - (ERROR)com.sapportals.wcm.app.xfbuilder.server.ServerManager :Could not serialize document: Operation not supported
Does anyone know what the problem is? I'd appreciate your help, thanks.
    Sincerely,
    Susanne
Okay I just found out that it's not possible to create a new folder in KM under xmlforms. That's working on the other 2 systems quite well. I have all the admin roles but somehow somewhere somewho must have restricted that. We found out that ice, etc, runtim, entry points and maybe even a few more aren't setup to create new folders in there. Does anyone know where/how to change that? It doesn't work with Details - permissions etc.

    Dear customer,
Can you please check whether the repository /etc is in read-only
    mode?
    Please navigate to -
System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management
-> Content Management -> Repository Managers -> File System Repository
There you can see the checkbox for "read-only".
Please insure that this is not ticked. If it is, please uncheck it

  • SAP notes applied to a TX

    Hi Experts
    I am investigating a probelm  related to some TX's e.g MB1B, MIGO.
How do I know that what SAP notes have been applied to a SAP tranasction.
    Pls advise.
e.g. I may have to apply a SAP note to a TX but before that I want to make sure that what notes have been applied so far
    Regards
    Gaurav

The program related to MB1B...., MIGO is <u>SAPMM07M</u>, please check the program and program versions. If there are descriptions or comments maintained while applying the note then you can easily find it. Or please check the transaction SNOTE which will list you all the oss notes applied,
Also please check SPAM transaction from which you can find the package name of the OSS note in which it is included.
In every Oss note it will be mentioned in which support pack this OSS note belongs to, please check if that support pack exists in your system then it is implied that this Oss note is present in your system.
    Hope this helps you.

  • SAP Note Number: 953823 says string not supported in FM ??

    Hello Friends
I am desperately trying to findout how to send a variable length string from XI and save it in a table.
However, SAP Note Number: 953823 says that STRING is not supported in FM but the work around it suggests is as follows:
    ========================================================
The only work around for this is :
To wrap the Function module used in function control with the custom function module, which substitutes the STRING parameter with CHAR datatype.
    ========================================================
But the problem is that for CHAR datatype you have to give the field length, the requirement I have is to send a VARIABLE LENGTH data.
Could some one help me in understanding how this can be achieved?
    Thanks a lot in advance
    Ram

Interesting question.  Maybe I don't completely understand.  When you say store it in a table, do you mean a database table or an itab?
I seem to be able to pass a string to a FM.  Am I doing something wrong?
I created a type of string called "ZTYSTR".
    I then created this FM.
    *"*"Local Interface:
    *"  IMPORTING
    *"     REFERENCE(I_STR) TYPE  ZTYSTR
      DATA:
         l_string   type string.
      l_string = i_str.
    ENDFUNCTION.
Then I call the function module as such.
    REPORT zz_temp.
DATA: g_str  TYPE string VALUE 'Hello World'.
    CALL FUNCTION 'Z_TEMP'
      EXPORTING
        i_str = g_str.
Debugging the FM, it says that both the parameter and local variable are of type string.

  • SAP Note 1614681 - ESI monthly report for filing details of ESIable employe

Any one implemented this SAP Note
While doing the manual steps mentioned in SAP Note 1614681 - ESI monthly report for filing details of ESIable employees .
    we found some difficulties.
Please let me know the steps that you followed while implementing this.
    Note Summary
    Symptom
As per the new rule introduced by ESIC authorities, an organization is liable to file details of employees eligible for ESI contribution during a particular period/month. Details are to be uploaded on the ESIC website in the format prescribed by the ESIC authorities. Currently, as a part of SAP standard delivery, ESI Form5 and Form6 are provided which are used to report ESI contribution for a period of six months. However, there is no such provision to generate monthly ESI details in system and report it to the ESIC authorities.
    Other terms
HINCESI0, PC00_M40_ESIF, ESI , Employee State Insurance, ESI Monthly report, IT0588, ESIC.
    Reason and Prerequisites
    Legal Change.

    Hi,
We tried to apply the manual steps mentioned along with the note. We were able to do first two steps that is inserting the messages in message class and creating new text elements..
When we tried for the 3rd step, we are facing the problem..
When we gave the name ''HR_IN_ESI_MON_DET '' in SE18 and and try to create it asked for the package...since it is SAP standard we gave PC40( since all ESI badi is saved in this package i gave this) for the package name.....and it got created and each time it was asking for Access key...( After providing access key in each step it got created)
Now when i check in SE80 this enhancement is there....but if i check in SE18 it says Enhancement spot doesn't exist.

  • Microsoft security patch  KB834707 side effects in NW. SAP Note 785308

I figured we should make a thread with information known about this problem.
Since the problem comes in the javascripts, I would belive the problem is on the client-side, not server side.
Does anyone know exactly what the problem is (what has Microsoft changed) ?
Please contribute with information you get from OSS's.
I'll update this first post with all available information
    Information:
    15.11: Microsoft
have to provide a solution to this problem and that it could take
some time. The problem lies on the
Microsoft side so we must wait for them before a solution can be
    provided.
    - Development has found that by adding the site to the intranet zones of
the client browser, the problem is solved, some experience of late has
shown that in some cases you have to add the full machine name to the
intranet sites and not just in the form of *.somedomain.com.
Microsoft and SAP are currently working on the problem and a proper and
long term solution is expected shortly. However no exact date has been
    specified.
    - It is possible that the problems are caused by event handlers pointing directly to a DOM function:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/887741
    - I've noticed that we don't have a problem on a portal running EP 6 SP2 P3 Hf4 , after installing the hotfix on the client side. Maybe the problem is on the server side or maybe because it is an intranet portal only(however, I had no problems when setting it to be in the internet security zone). Awaiting confirmation from SAP

    c) Some of the things that could be breaking are DOM references and DHTML, which are advanced features that not every application uses.
    From <http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS04-038.mspx>:
"Caveats: Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 834707 <http://support.microsoft.com/?id=834707> documents the currently known issues that customers may experience when they install this security update. The article also documents recommended solutions for these issues."
Among other issues, that page says [<b>emphasis</b> added]:
    - After you install the MS04-038 security updates for Internet Explorer, some dynamic HTML (DHTML) <b>drag-and-drop operations are blocked</b> by Internet Explorer.
    - Security update 834707 includes a change to the way that Internet Explorer handles function pointers. This change in functionality occurs when an event handler points directly to a Document Object Model (DOM) function [...] Change in Internet Explorer function pointer behavior <b>causes code to not be executed</b> when an event handler is set to directly reference a DOM function after installing MS04-038 security updates.
BTW, Note 785308 has been updated with a workaround.

  • INI file preference not being followed - Regarding SAP Note 1409494

    Hi,
Following SAP Note 1409494, it seems like there is a preference over locations of INI files.
I have setup on my Citrix servers, the environment variable (SAPLOGON_INI_FILE) pointing to a central location of INI file.
The problem is that in the same server there is the BW logon pad that requires a different set of configurations, therefore a second INI file.
When I try to use the first option on the note (command line parameter /INI_FILE) pointing to a second INI file, it uses the one on the environment variable.
Is that the way it's supposed to work???
Is there a way to bypass this?
    Thanks!

    Hello Vijith,
I guess you are talking about <a href="https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1034932">note 1034932</a>. It is currently being changed, what it will basically say is:
If you put the jars somewhere in /usr/sap and later on upgrade the engine you will actually loose the entire folder and will have to copy the jar files again.
As a permanent solution you could define an <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ee/0618d0899001408d821096c85ff8a2/frameset.htm">HTTP Alias</a> on the engine (not an application alias but an http alias) which will point to a folder on the file system outside the /usr/sap folders.
After that just set JavaGuiCodeBase for the applet to whatever you chose for the http alias name.
If you have suggestions to further improve the note, please let us know.
    Best regards
    Rolf-Martin
