SAP note validity

Hi experts,
I've read that SAP notes are changes to standard code which are to be included in the next release. I was approached by a team to implement a SAP note; upon checking the validity the note is only applicable to previous SAP versions. Our system is a more recent one. When I check the SAP note in SNOTE, it says "can be implemented". My question is, is this note applicable? Should I follow the validity section of the SAP note? Or can I implement this because it's status says so in SNOTE?

Hi Jack,
sometimes SAP notes are containing some wrong informations. For example if a SAP note is only valid for other releases, but contains a correction instruction for your release, which is valid for your support package level, then you can try to implement it. Many incorrect informations in SAP notes come from SAP version updates, when the note says, it is valid for release x SP level from a to b and correction instruction says, it is valid for release x SP level from c to d.
But please check carefully, that all manual activities can be done and all additionally required notes and their manual activities can also be implemented (or are obsolete).
If you get an installation error, please uninstall the note after installation (if this is possible).
There are many possible errors and issues that may occur:
Correction instruction is already partially implemented
You get activation errors, for some business functions are not active (Switch Framework). In this case you may be unable to uninstall the note without errors.

If you're thinking that the note will help you to solve an issue, please try to implement it. In case of error you should feel free to contact SAP support.

Error Landed Cost - Customs rate not valid (SAP B1 9.0 PL10)

Hello experts,
We would like your advise on the following issue.
We are currently using SAP Business One 9.0 (PL10) and we are trying to add a Landed Cost document, but the following error occurs:
Customs rate not valid. [Landed Costs - Rows - Duty Rate]
The SAP Note: '1928862 - An Error occurs when adding Landed Costs', which describes the error, is listed in the References section of PL09 and PL10 upgrade. However, the error still occurs.
Any advise on how to solve this issue?

SAP BW query to BOBJ Universe: The supplied XML is not valid.

Help!
The Business Objects Sever XI is giving us messages like the below, on some but not all BOBJ Universes based on SAP BW queries.
A database error occurred. The database error text is: The supplied XML is not valid. [various InfoObjects] [LEVEL01] (WIS 10901)
These queries were executing 1 working day, 3 calendar days ago. No transports to SAP BW or promotions to BOBJ were made.
Any ideas?

I'm also getting same error 'Error getting hierarchies for dimension 0INFOPROV (Cube ZLE_M10/YBO_FREIGHT_ZLE_M10_UNIV_MPT1): Unknown error' when tried to create universe on top of query which is based on multi provider. Could you please send me copy of program ZZ_REPAIR_HIEDIR?

Messagein OSS as "SAP Note does not contain valid correction instructions"

Hi all ,
Iam trying to implement the OSS Note 170334 in the SNOTE transaction. When I hit Implement, I get a message -"SAP Note does not contain valid correction instructions" .
Could any one help me what to do now. We are now using ECC 6.0.

The SAP note "170334" does not contain any correction instructions means no code changes to be implemented . You want to test whether the note can be installed in the customer system using the Note Assistant. This is not possible because the note does not contain any correction instructions.
The Note Assistant can only install notes that contain correction instructions. Correction instructions describe changes to the source text of ABAP programs, ABAP includes, function modules, method implementaitons, and screen flow logic.
This particular is just for information and you will see some 5-6 related notes in this note.
Also , whats important here is too implement/refer the long text of the message .

Validation of SAP Note correction

Hi All,
I have a set of note corrections which are triggered when doing an upgrade of SAP 4.7 to ECC 6.0.
In the Note corrections it gave instructions about the code corrections in the Note.
In this description it gave list of Valid releases . Do we need to check the version of particular module in the source SAP system( SAP 4.7 ( if it exists in the list then we can go a head and apply the note to the upgrade system to get the effect in Target system (ECC 6.0))

Hi,
When you download a note through SNOTE the system determines whether the note is applicable to your system or not .
If applicable when you implement the note only those corrections that are meant for your system are applied the others are ignored , the system takes care of these.

Is the SAP note (old, 2001 year) valid?

I am trying to create source system in BW to connect from BW-system to SAP source system. I can connect to SAP system but when I click on use (RFC connection) I get message "Error during insert in port table". I found SAP note with number 110849 but it is was released in 2001 year. I work with Netweaver 7.0. Can I use this note to correct error?

There is another alternative solution here which does not require transaction SNOTE usage - go to SAP Service Marketplace, open the required SAP Note and check section "Affected Releases", where you will be able to find out information on software components' release versions which are affected. Just find out if the one which you use is in the list - if not, then the SAP Note is not applicable for your system. The second step in case the first one is passed and you found your release version in the list of affected releases is to verify Support Package level: ensure that Support Package which delivers the correction for this software component hasn't yet been implemented in your system (if it or higher Support Packages are implemented, then you should already have the correction applied in your system).

Validity of SAP note 1172948 ??

We have SAP Solution Manager EHP1 SP24 installed and as part of initial configuration, I am trying to implement this note but in snote it is coming as SAP note cannot be implemented.
If I check this note then it says correction instruction delivered in ST400- SAPKITL429. But I am on SAPKITL435. So, shall I assume that SAP has now included this note in support packages ?

That Note is obsolete for your SP level.
You want SAP Note 1405878 - SAP Solution Manager: Basic functions: SP22 to SP26
Note: version is important....most current is 26 as of this writing.

SAP Download to Excel2007 .Error occurs: file format is not valid

We met a problem when use BAPI EXCEL_OLE_STANDAED_DAT to generate local Microsoft excel 2007 file.
When open the generated excel 2007 file, Error occurs: file format is not valid. We do not know how to solve this trouble

what kind of data are you going for so that you have to use this specific FM?
i mean try using other FMs if its simple data...
one more thing is check what data is being downloaded, keeping a breakpoint just before downloading.

I was in the process of updating a test system with SAP 2007 A SP00 PL 49, while the database was updating it failed with a error.

Hi Craig ,
Try to upgrade the latest patch level of SAP 2005 and then do the process of upgrade .(precaution measure only)
By SAP document - you are fine to upgrade from 2005 SP00 or 2005 Sp01
You need to run one query before u do the upgrade because to check consistency .
If the query return no result , you can upgrade with no issue
I Please refer SAP Notes1000846 .

LINA is being used for Book Depreciation
MSTL Depreciation key is being used for ACRES, ALT MIN, ACE, E&P.

I have encountered with an error as following :
SYST: Period 012 is not valid in financial year variant R2
Message no. FGV003
Our client following calendar year till December 2009. They want to change to April to March , from April 2010 . So we need to define a shortened fiscal year for January to March 2010 for 3 months.
One important thing is Depreciation should be calculated only for 3 months ie., from January 2010 to March 2010 for year 2010. For year 2011 u2013 April 2010 to March 2011 be calculated.
I have done the following settings :
Current fiscal year variant = K4, i.e. the standard variant with 12 periods (calendar year)
-the current fiscal year must be closed on 31.12.2009
-this change have to be done in the next month, i.e. on 01.01.2010
-on 1.1..2010 starts the new fiscal year 2010
-the fiscal year 2010 ends on 31.03.2010 and have 3 posting periods
1) Create a new Fiscal Year Variant for the shortened fiscal year u2013 e.g. "R2" (OB29).
2) R2 to be made Year Dependent. Current Period Configuration

2. When I run AFAB for 2010 period 1 the error is displayed

For e.g if Financial Year is from July to June, year shift will be as follows:

Error in AS01 E003 SYST: Period 000 is not valid in financial year variant

Hello SAP Gurus,
I am encountering an error when creating an asset for a certain CC. Upon saving, error message 'E003 SYST: Period 000 is not valid in financial year variant' appears which prevents me creating the asset. My FY Variant K4 is already assigned in the correct company code. Not sure if this has something to do in period control, posting period or FY variant.
Can someone help me explain the root cause of my error?

Basically, period control will determine the depreciation start date. For 02, it is Pro rata upto mid-period at period start date.
This is means that for asset value date after mid month, depreciation will be start from next month.
As an example,
asset value date from 01.01.2012 to 15.01.2012 -> Depreciation start date is 01.01.2012
asset value date from 16.01.2012 to 31.01.2012 -> Depreciaiton start date is 01.02.2012
etc

i already posted this issue on ASSET ACCOUNTING two weaks ago ....but still waiting for your responce .............
Can any one pls help me out ..........its an urgent ...........
when i check dep. thro' t.code AW01N/AS02 i am getting an error like "SYST: Period 012 is not valid in financial year variant V3".....
i don't know why the system is throwing this type of error and where i have to do changes...........
i am in 4.6c and the dep has not been run for long time . i suppose the last time the dep may be in year 2003......
Can u guide how to rectify his error........ and bring all the assets upto date and run the dep in the SAP system.
Presently my clients are posting the manual JV's for every Quater.
Any help in this would be highly appreciated....

Hi,
Posting periods are controlled by two ways.
one is technical point of view - OB52 (see here are you maintain account type wise or *)
second is FI-MM point of view go for OMSY. You can see what are current period open for your company code. You can use T.code MMPV- for close the posting periods and MMRV to open or allow the period for posting.
