SAP NW 2004s ABAP Trial Version - Licensing Issue

Hello all,
I have successfully installed NW 2004s ABAP Trial Version from the DVD in the SAP Press book: ABAP Objects.
I requested a trial key (version SP8 or less) and received the following (I can't find what version has actually been installed):
Installation of the license key
Script for release 4.5A and higher

Database: ADABAS D
Release: SAP NETWEAVER 2004
SAPSYSTEM = NSP

I followed the error messages give by the SAP License Administration application and changed the file to read:

"Line 7 of the license key file: "SWPRODUCTNAME=" expected.
Not sure what I need to do next.
Any suggestions much appreciated.

Hi There;
Has been quite some time since the day I first installed the trial version. But if I remember correctly, you automatically got a temporary license (4 weeks ?) after a successful installation. When it expires then you renew it ( the step you just did ).
Please go to transaction slicence to check the temp permit (expiry date).

Hi all
I've read your entrys.
Saw that the solution is missing.
It can be found in the manuals:
1. Download the "Registry Clean Tool for SAP NetWeaver 2004s ABAP" and use it.
2. Download the latest Version of "SAP NetWeaver 2004s ABAP" and un-rar it.
3. Install the "Microsoft Loopback Adapter" an activate it.
4. Retry to install.
Summary:
So the error 200 was caused for the first time from trying an installation without a Loopback Adapter, and after that from trying to re-install without cleaning the registry.
Now its working fine.

That does not automatically start your instance. Have a look at the shortcuts SAP installed in your startmenu. There's both a startscript and a stopscript.

SAP NW 2004s ABAP Trial Version on Virtual Machine

Good afternoon!
I need to install SAP NW from subj on Windows Server 2003 SP2 on Virtual Machine VMWare WorkStation. VM is also installed on Windows Server 2003 SP2.
The installation of NW completes successfully but I can't start the SAP server from SAP Manegement Console. disp+work.exe doesn't start but the message server starts successfully.
What the problem can be?

I too am facing the same problem. I have installed Windows XP image on virtualbox on my Windows Vista laptop.
Installation was succesful however the disp+work.exe fails error was received.
How do I check the two items that you have mentioned?
I'm sorry if these queries are a bit silly, but I'd be glad to resolve this error.

I've run RegCleanTool and rerun the installer, result: the same error.
System specs:
Windows XP SP2
Hardware. AMD Athlon XP 3200+, 2,19 GHz, 1,25 GB Ram
The MS Loopback Adapter is correctly installed and ping on permanent IP adress 10.10.0.10 returns ok.

Try to install the MaxDB software manually, then continue with the installation of SAP Netweaver. Check whether there is any another entry of same SID into NSP? if yes then use any another SID for Netweaver system.

Your SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP evaluation license is valid for 90 days BUT, you can install a new license for valid for more 90 days.
I've using SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP for more then a year and I renewed my license 3 times.
To install a new (Renew) license see my answer in this thread where is saplicense.exe file?.

Install License Key for SAP NetWeaver 2004s ABAP trial Edition.

Hello.
I have two installations of the SAP NetWeaver 2004s ABAP trial Edition (on desktop and laptop). After the expiration of the original 30 days license; now I need to install the extended License (90 days). I am using SLICESE transaction from SAP* user account to install the new license. I have got the "License Key" from SAP website. However, the installation of the new License Key fails to complete successfully (it fails to add the new license key) and ends with an error prompt. This problem is happening on both systems! Has anyone experienced such problem? What did you do to fix it?
Note: no errors in typing in the new Key, as I used the copy and paste!

Thanks again for your help. I found out that if you try to install the new license key (first time) with any error (such as wrong expiration date), it will fail as "invalid key", naturally. However, the subsequent attempts also continues to fail despite the fact that the correction are made. the only way I could fix this was to stop and restart the SAP Application server and make sure that the first attempt has typos. It seems to me that once an error flag is set, it is not removed unless the server is restarted. well, the problem is fixed now and thank you for your help.

You only need SAPGui to logon to ABAP instance...
If you installed a Java Instance.. you need to logon using your browser... URL is in the manual.
For the J2EE engine page,
http://<hostname_with_fqdn>:500<instance_number>
If there a portal installed,
http://<hostname_with_fqdn>:500<instance_number>/irj/portal
All this info is contained in the installation guide.

Nothing is written in to my E:\usr\sap folder which I have share as saploc and sapmnt.

Sorry for the delay. I was on vacation.
Which environment variable are you referring to?
JAVA_HOME is set to C:\j2sdk1.4.2_09.
I am using j2sdk1.4.2_09.
Only port changes I tried was
#sapdp01 3201/tcp.
I tried with and without the # .
Both had the same results.
I have given below the last few statememts from the sapinst log file

I have been trying to install SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java Trial Version for three days now on Windows Vista Ultimate. Since Microsoft has a new security infrastructure implemented in Windows Vista, it is not that easy to install SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java Trial Version. Windows Vista has some sort of User-account security. In summary, in Windows Vista, you are logged in as an administrator, but when it comes to change system files or do registry entries, you or respectivly third party programs (e.g. SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java Trial Version installer) has no rights to do things like registry entries. There is a possibility to rightclick on the setup.bat file and start it in administrative mode, but that doesn't change a thing.
I hope you guys get my problem.

Windows Vista isn't on the support matrix of SAP Netweaver 2004s!
you may play arround with regedit and chaning the security settings of SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DPS key. SAPinst is doing a KEY_ALL_ACCESS when enumerating the services registry.
Starting with Vista some registry values have special protection which do not allow administrators to open them with KEY_ALL_ACCESS.

) downloaded from SDN, but I am getting an error immediately after started the installation. The log as given below.

Hi,
I changed the system name but still I am getting the same error. Previously there was an SAP system was installed in my pc later I uninstalled that, but still there are two SAPsid_00 and SAPsid_01 (where in sid is MS) is running. I think this is the problem. I disabled the services as well but still I am getting the same error during the installation. How to delete the windows services ? and how to do a clean up for registry ?. I feel if I do theses two then I can install.

SAP NW7.01 ABAP Trial version installation error on windows 7

I m trying to install SAP NW7.01 ABAP Trial version on my PC having Windows 7 in it. Firstly i have configured MS Loopback Adapter and installed SAP Management Console as describe in Installation guide. Now when i just start to run setup.exe , it just start and giving me   " could not utilize start class:com,installshield.wizard.Wizard " error. i thought it is because of somewhat java.
Then i have set Environment variable--> PATH as C:\j2sdk1.4.2_19\bin   and again try. but doesnt work. Plz help me what to do?? Is this error regarding any java problem or any other??
Currently i have installed this java versions for this.
Java 2 Runtime environment             1.4.2_19
java 2 SDK                                         1.4.2_19

Hi Aakash,
Firstly, I don't think we need to install MMC separately, this should get installed automatically after the installation
of trial version.
I would suggest downgrading the version of java with j2sdk1.4.2_04 to 08 anything between these two.
And try again.
And is the version that you have downloaded compatible with Windows 7.
That coulbe a problem.
