SAP NW 7.3 - add usage type

SAP Netweaver 7.3 AS java on RHEL 6.
Database db2 LUW 9.7.
How would one add a usage type?
For example I install usage types:
AS Java
NW Product Description
Application Server Java Extentions
Enterprise Portal
EP Core
Then the boss comes by and asks for
Business Process Management
In the past I've used OSS support package download stack application
to generate a stack xml and a list of support packages,
then used JSPM option add usage type.
With SAP NW 7.3, OSS has no stack application.
I haven't seen a "add usage type" within SOLMAN MOPZ...

  • Query on installing SAP NW 7.0(BI usage type) on high availabliity

    Hi Gurus,
We are performing BI 7.0 re-implementation on our current BW landscape. We have already installed BI 7.0 for developement and quality. Now we are in planning phase of installing Bi 7.0 on production.
Now we need to clarify that is it possible to install BI 7.0 on a standalone server(single server) and later may be two or three months migrate it to cluster package switchover(MC/SG)
Now the current env is HP-UX (IA64) with oracle 10g database.
    Please advice.
    Thanks,
    jag

    Hi Michael,
We will do that by installing the server with virtual ip ...so when i will migrate it to cluster package..what are the things i need to take care of.
Now the current plan is to install in standlone machine with virtual ip....then we are planning to move the server to the package MC/SG tool. Now we are planning to put all the mount pionts in same volume group so that we can add it to the MC/SG package switsh...
Will it be feasible..If u provide some doc apart from installation guide ...it will be helpful..

  • Recommended installation option PO vs. AEX / adding usage type in future

    Dear guys,
at the moment some clients I am working with a thinking of migrate their existing PI dual stack landscape and setupt a new single stack landscape.
Doing so there is the question either to go for PO or AEX.
Often there is no need for BPM/BRM component yet, but maybe this will change in future.
Therefore there is the question if it is pssible to add BPM/BRM functionality to an existing AEX installation (SID) or not.
So far I found inconsistent information regarding this question.
In this blog it is mentioned that adding of BPM/BRM is not possible.
    http://scn.sap.com/community/process-orchestration/blog/2012/12/07/upgrade-options-to-the-latest-process-integration-or-process-orchestration
Instead this presenation indicates that it should be possible to add new usage type to an existing AEX (slide 5 which is also included in Teched presenations)
    http://www.sapevent.ch/landingpagesfr/Manager/uploads/303/TU%20S2%20Technical%20PI_to_PO_Migration.pdf
Can anyone clear up this topic?
    Appreciate your help.
    Best regards
    Jochen

    Hi Hareesh
thanks for your reply and pointing me to this thread.
Obviously the deployment possibility changed overtime and was initially not possible but now it seems to be possible.
    Process Orchestration - SAP Library
You can obtain Process Orchestration by installation or by adding the corresponding usage types to an existing SAP NetWeaver system. For latter, both are supported, deployment of BPM on an existing AEX system and deployment of an AEX on an existing BPM system.
Also the lately published PO Roadmap indicates that it should be possible to add usage type. (page 25)

  • What is it - Usage - Type

    Hello Sap-Experts!
For some documentation I need a definition of "Usage -Type" what does it mean at all.
    I didn't find any definitions.
I am very pleased for any help.
    Best regards
    Vladimir Golovtchiner

    Hi,
As per note 883948 (Inst.Add.Java Usage Types/Software Units
), The term "software unit" is used as a synonym for "usage type" in the context of SAP ERP, SAP CRM, SAP SRM and SAP SCM.
So basically, usage type is a bundle of programs designed to do something specific. BI usage type would be used to business intelligence, EP usage type is used for portal, etc.
You can find out your current UTs installed on your j2ee stack using
    http://<host>:<http_port>/utl/UsageTypesInfo
    Hope this helps.

  • What is a Usage Type?

    Good Sunday everyone,
I am a newbie in SAP BI and having a problem understanding the concept of usage types. For an example, what does it mean that BI is a usage type? I've read that SAP implementations are based on usage type and not components.... what does that really mean?
    Thank you

    Hi Gunit2003,
Usage type can be think as a installation software unit, which is based on several components combination.
For example, AS ABAP, AS JAVA,  BI, PI, DI, etc are installation software unit(usage type), user can select one or several to install on a system.
And what is component?  for example, AS ABAP usage type include several components, such as, DBMS, message server, dialog work process, batc work process, gateway, ICM, etc.

  • How to install Additional Software Units or Usage Types in an Existing SAP

    Hi.
We have a Netweaver 7.0 EPH1 with JAVA, EP and EPC intallation, but i need install additional usage type BI JAVA and NWDI.
Copy the downloaded SCAs in /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in and when execute JSPM - option Additional usage type installation,  this not show usages type .
according to the installation guide, this is the procedure.
    please help me.
    Thanks very much.
    Regards,
    Jhon Jairo

    Hi,
Once you have correctly extracted and put the files in /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in, you need to run JSPM and select the option of additional usage types.
Next, select the desired stack from the inbox. Click Next.
JSPM shows the currently installed usage types and those of the new usage types in the stack, which are part of the active product on the system and all of their dependencies are fulfilled. They can have different status:
Available u2013 the usage type is already active in the system. These usage types are automatically skipped.
OK u2013 the usage type can be installed on the system. Specify whether to install or skip the usage type in the Action column.
Revise u2013 the usage type cannot  be installed on this system. Click the Show Details button for more information. These usage types are automatically skipped.
Not Supported - the usage type is not supported by JSPM.
Can you tell us what is the status of the usage types visible to you? Are the new usage types having a different status or are they not completely visible at all? If that is the case, you may want to check whether the files that you have downloaded are correct or not and also check whether these are correctly extracted and placed in the right folder.
    Regards,
    Shitij

  • SAP Netweaver - What are Usage Types?

I would just like to clarify as to what are Usage Types? What role they play in the installation of an SAP Netweaver System? Upon adding Usage Types, for instance, BI or PI, will it mean that the SAP Product that you are installing with these Usage Types will enable BI or PI to exist within the product you are installing? I would just like to deepen my knowledge with regards to this. Awards will be provided accordingly depending on the knowledge gain that will be acquired.

    Hi,
Usage types are the software units to be installed and configured according to the needs.
All are present inside the s/w bundle.by checking the boxes you are enabling those services.
Suppose you want  PI  then u need to check the as JAVA and as ABAP.

  • SAP Cloud For Customer : Add Custom Document Type For Attachments in Account Screen

    Hi Experts,
I have requirement to add document type for the Attachment as shown below in COD_Account_TI screen.
I have highlighted in yellow is it possible to add custom document type.
    1) Where we need to maintain in the configuration or we need require SDK ?
I have maintained 1 custom document type under the path :
Business Configuration --> Open All Activity --> Fine Tunes --> Activities --> Maintain Document Type
    2) Is this correct path or we nee do maintain in another location or path?
    3) if not possible using configuration ? How it is possible using SDK work?
    Many Thanks,
    Mithun

    Hi Mithun,
We had this problem with the Hyperlinks.
You should look at your Event Handler from the Inport or the Event Handler of the query. Some Data Operation with assign function can lead to an infinite loop.
Like assigning the inport data field to your list that is bound with a custom query.

Thanks so much for replying - just last night I solved problem. After re-deploying at a higher SP and it still not working I was resigned to the possibilty it might never be fixed - I too couldn't see how EPC could be backed out.
Then I tried it in IE7 through my VM. The context menus are there, but don't appear in Firefox 2.0.0.8 in Linux :o

  • Sld started giving error after installation of additional usage type.....

    Hi Experts,
I had a BW server with dual stack (AS ABAP + AS Java only base u2013 No BI u2013 Java server). Everything was running fine and I have checked that http://server:port/nwa, http://server:port/useradmin and http://server:port/sld was browsable although I didn't configured SLD.
My BW developer team wanted to use BEX web reports and for the same I have installed following add on usage type as per note 883948 as I had only upto SPS9 as a default installation.

  • Is enterprise learning a usage type or business package?

    Gurus:
We have both ECC6.0 and EP7.0.
We now want to have enterprise learning (version?) . Could you tell us how to install
enterprise learning: by enable the usage type or add busisness package?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
    > 1) is it a usage type for ECC or NW7.0?
This is usage type for ECC.
    > 2) could you direct me to some links for its configuration?

    Check this http://www.sap-press.com/product.cfm?account=&product=H3032
But I will suggest you to get OSS access to get configuration guide.

  • Sourcing 10. Which J2EE Usage types

    Hi
I'm installing Sourcing 10.0 and I'm currently installing Netweaver 7.31 J2EE. Sapinst is asking which usage types to install:
I can't find any specs in the inst. doc.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Michael,
Please consider the SAP note 723909 (Java VM settings for J2EE 6.40/7.0) as well:
The max heap size (plus max perm size) of all Java server nodes must fit completely into the physical memory in order to avoid heavy paging on OS level. You must also consider the space needed for OS and other processes.
For each JavaVM on the server, all Java memory must fit completely into
    physical memory (no paging)!
Therefore the rule of thumb for number of server nodes for SUN and HP
JavaVM with 1 GB Heap each will be
    #ServerNodes = (AvailableMemory / 1.5 GB)
and factor 2.5 should be used instead of 1.5 for 64 bit with 2GB heap
    size.
Also remember, if the instance contains more than three server nodes SAP recommends to add 50MB of dispatcher heap for each additional server node.
    Regards,
    Matheus
