SAP On Dataguard

Hi,
I would like to know the prerequisite and feasibility of implementing DataGuard on SAP ECC 6 which is running with Oracle 10G. I heard Oracle 10G built in with Dataguard. Can someone help me on the details regarding this. We are trying to implement this.
regards,
raj

Raj,

    Hello all,
Since which Oracle version SAP ECC6 supported dataguard? Please refer me to SAP note or document.
    regards,

    Hello Daniel,
all currently supported Oracle versions (10.2.0.5, 11.2.0.2, 11.2.0.3) for SAP ECC 6.0 are supported with Oracle Data Guard. Previous patch sets were supported too.
Sapnote #105047 (Point  "15. Data Guard") describes the suppported Data Guard functions.

  • Cannot login oim after restore db from other server using dataguard

    Hi all,
    i find a problem,
I installed OIM 11g R1 application and database both DC and DRC server, and all application and database is already running normally. i used dataguard for set up both database.so, i restore database DRC to DC, and database DC already restored and weblogic, oim server, soa already up. but when i try to login into oim application i cannot login because wrong password, and i go to forgot password i get the popup error "cant find resource for bundle java.util.PropertyResourceBundle". i think this problem about keystore, but when i copy keystore in server DRC to DR, this problem can't be solve.
any idea to solve this problem? or i set up dataguard using different way with oracle best practice?

    Hi San Xu,
    Thanks for the reply.
I cannot remove add-on with this database, when I click button update there is same message "Continue working without this Add-on"
I already try to remove the add-on in Test Server with another database in same server (I can remove the add-on used another database) and then I try to clear up entries in registration file and then try to run SAP B1 as administrator to register and install again with the database which infected, with result cannot install with same message "Continue working without this Add-on", but I can install again the add-on with another database with no problem and the add-on run well in another database.
I'm very confused, why any add-on cannot installed in this database only and also cannot remove use this database but run well (can installed, can remove and also can used) in another database in same server.
I also already try such your suggestions to create a new test company in Test Server and try remove and installing the add-on with the new database, there is no problem with this new database (the add-on can remove, installed and then can run well in the new database). But still the add-on cannot run in the database which I backup from Production Server.
    Best Regards,

  • When using DataGuard, the logical standby DB is already "OPEN"?

When I was setting up the physical standby DB several years ago no DataGuard got involved), I had the impression that the standby DB is in MOUNT status.
But since when using DataGuard to set up the logical standby DB, the logical standby DB can be used as it is already OPENed.
Is it actually in OPEN status? If so, can the primary and logical standby have the same SID without any trouble?
Please help advise. Thanks a lot!

    Hello Christy,
yes it is ok that both database are in status OPEN, that is also the main reason for using logical standby databases (you can do changes and queries on standby too).
I hope you don't use a logical standby database in a SAP environment, because of this is NOT supported. Check sapnote #105047 - Point  "14. Data Guard". A logical standby database has limitations.
If you just want to use the physical standby database for queries you can open it in read only or you can use flashback technology for read/write. With Oracle 11g you have these features included in data guard itself (Active Data Guard / Snapshot StandBy) to perform such steps automatically.

  • Procedure for Standby Database for SAP ERP 6.0

    Hello All,
We are using SAP ERP 6.0 with Oracle 10g with AIX 5.3.
We are planning to setup a standby database for our SAP ERP 6.0 production system as part of remote DR site using Oracle Data Guard.
I was under the assumption that i can first install an erp 6.0 (ABAP) system using homogeneous system copy from my erp 6.0 (ABAP) production system and then start configuring oracle dataguard.
But the System Copy Guide "System Copy for SAP Systems Based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 ABAP" has mentioned that "You cannot create standby systems with a system copy".
Please suggest the best practise or the procedure for creating standby database for SAP ERP 6.0 system. Iam not looking at the steps for creating a pure oracle 10g standby database, but with SAP instances as well.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Please refer the below mentioned link for configuring data guard.
    http://www.stanford.edu/dept/itss/docs/oracle/10g/server.101/b10823/create_ps.htm
Below mentioned are the sequence of stpes, which needs to be followed for setting up data guard.
    3.1 Configuring the Primary Database
3.1.1 Enable archiving and define a local archiving destination
    3.1.2 Create a password file
3.1.3 Configuring the Oracle networking files
3.1.4 Set initialization parameters on the primary database
3.1.5 Take Offline/Online backup of the primary database
3.1.6 Create a control file for the standby database
3.1.7 Prepare initialization parameter file for the standby database and start the primary database with the changed pfile.
3.1.8 Copy all files from the primary host to the standby host
    3.2 Configuring the Standby Database
3.2.1 Configuring the Oracle networking files
3.2.2 Create a INIT parameter file for the standby database
3.2.3 Copy the standby controlfile to the appropriate location
    3.2.4 Create Oracle Password File
3.2.5 Start the physical standby database
    3.2.6 Initiate log apply services

  • Dataguard : redo transport service

    Hi,
I have a question regarding dataguard: I have a primary database (oracle 10.2.0.4 win 2003 x64 R2 SP2) communicating with a standby and everything was working like a charm up to the moment where the primary starts creating a lot of session with the user PUBLIC on the standby.... At the end, the standby exceeded the maximum processes and the redo transport service stopped.
So I stopped/restart the standby and as soon as the primary sees the standby, there are 7 sessions with user PUBLIC that are created. Then few seconds, after another one was created and another one and it stoppes at 9 this time.
I would like to know what drives the creation of a new session and what is the purpose of those sessions (I thinks it maintains the synchronisation information....) .... What could be the reason for so many sessions to be created... Could it be network failure...
    Thanks
    Christophe Lizé

    Hi Ogan,
Thanks for your answer. This is a windows box. SAP is the application that consumes the data.
In the standby alertlog, we can see the session that is started:

  • Oracle upgrade with DataGuard

    Hello Experts,
We have to upgrade oracle db from 10.2.0.2 to 11g.
While upgrading to PRD system there is DR system also, which uses DataGuard for archive update on DR system.
I would like to know that we need to take special care for DataGuard or DBUA will take care of DataGuard mechanism?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Yogesh

    Hi Yogesh,
in a SAP environment it is even more specific than the standard oracle upgrade guide (because of the compatible parameter and SAP scripts).
We discussed this already in this thread: Upgrade to Oracle 11G in standby environment

  • DR Site for SAP

    Hello SDN,
We have configure DR site for our SAP production system with oracle dataguard. We have done failover successfully. But we are not able to do switchover bitween oracle RAC (two instance) Primary database and Physical standby database Single instance.
so please we are looking for help can some one help us on this.
    Thanks & regards,

    Hi,
Your question seems to be realted to storage not SQL server you should post your question in forum dealing with storage. You should also involve SAP vendor regarding your license question.

  • SAP DR Site

    Dear All,
We have SAP ECC 6 / Oracle 10g on HP Unix 11.31.
I have prepared a Test scenario for SAP DR solution for our Testing Server.
I have configured oracle dataguard successfully.
I have installed SAP ECC 6 on same server where oracle standby database is configured.
So in case of primary server goes down I can activate the standby database and start SAP instance.
Now I need a suggestion on connect to SAP while primary goes down.
    1. Present Status :  If primary goes down all users will be disconnected. I have already configured SAPGUI for connect to DR server in case of primary failure. So there are two connection on SAPGUI one is for primary and one is for DR server.
    2. Is there any solution where I do not need to configure another connection on SAPGUI for DR.
    3.  In case of primary failure. Users are disconnected. But as soon as I activate standby server, Users can reconnect to server again.
We donu2019t want that users has to remember that on SAP GUI one connection is for Primary and one is for Standby,
    Thanks in advance,
    Nirav

    Hello Nirav,
If I understand it the right way :
You'll have your production on DR site, while the other systems keep working on your primary site.
Your STMS must still be usable.
About the instances still on primary site :
If you use DNS and FQDNs also for the communication between dev, qual and production, then the DNS switch will do the work.
Your trans directory is usually an nfs share. You mount the share using fqdn. Everything is O.K.
    On your DR site :
Your DR server must be able to route to your DEV and QUAL on your primary site wether using an /etc/hosts file or a DNS on your drp site.
    Hope this helps,
    Steve.

  • Oracle Data Guard, SAP instances not coming up after switchover

    Dear Experts,
We have implemented Dataguard, Uisng Maximum performance with real time apply (redo log apply). Redo logs are apply from primary to standby perfectly. And the SAP Instances are up and running, when we create a user in primary its reflecting in standby server.
When i do the the switchover from primary <--> standby. There is no communication between R3 and database. I have refered the Note 400241, have not got the solution. I changed the password of the OPS$ user uisng brtools utility. Still getting the r3trans return code 0012.

    Hi Nisar,

  • Install SAP ERP 6.0 with Linux and Oracle RAC

    Hi Guru,
I want to install SAP ERP 6.0 with Linux and Oracle RAC. Is this possible?
    Where do I find information?
    Thanks,
    Hugo.

    Hello Hugo,
You can use either RAC or dataguard. On note [105047|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/105047]:
    14. Data Guard
o  You can use "Physical Standby".
o  You cannot use "Logical Standby".
o  You can use Data Guard Broker.
o  You can use Maximum Performance Mode, Maximum Availability Mode and Maximum Protection Mode.
o  In the case of Maximum Availability and Maximum Protection, you must pay particular attention to a fast network connection in order to avoid performance problems.
o  Maximum Protection causes the primary database to terminate if problems occur in the standby database.
    60. Real Application Cluster (RAC)
o  You can use this feature in accordance with Note 527843.

  • SAP message Log

Does SAP maintain log of all the messages displayed on screen using MESSAGE statement?
We are investigating a problem and want to see the messages displayed by SAP during the time when problem occured.

We have custom development for picking and confirmation. Last week we found that in some deliveries there is difference in delivered quantity and packed quantity.
Custom development is calling sap-standard FMs. Problem occurs randomly, roughly 10 deliveries in a week has this problem.
We are still trying to investigate the reason that is causing the problem.
Custom program does display the message to user if FM raise any message. We asked user of they are getting any message while picking, and if they are ignoring it.
They just confirmed that they are getting message 'Packing Not Possible Since there is no Quantity to be Packed' and they did ignored this.

  • Rendering xml-table into logical filename in SAP R/3

    Hi,
I am trying to translate an xml-table with bytes into a logical filepath in SAP R3.
Do I have to use the method gui-download or shall I loop the internal xml-table?
When I tried to loop the xml-table into a structure, and then transfering the structure into the logical filename, I get problems with the line breaks in my xml-file. How do I get the lines to break exactly the same as I wrote them in my ABAP-code?

  • Manual de Integracao v300-2009-03-16 - SAP 4.7 SP30 preparado para NF-e?

    Boa tarde,

    Atenciosamente,
