SAP on virtual servers (Hardware requirements)
Hi Guys.
I would like to setup a Windows desktop server and then using VMWare create several virtual servers, in order to install IDES SAP Solutions over Windows Server 2008 with DB6/SQL Server/Oracle
Let says about 4-5 virtual servers and each one deploy an ECC 6.0 Instance, Netweaver 7, Solution Manager EHP1, CRM, Portal and any of other SAP Solutions with their respective DB.
This is all intended for testing purposes, like installing, upgrading, and testing features
What 64bit processor type, memory, disk, would you recommmend? Im thinking on an Intel i7 cpu, with 8GB Memory, and perhaps 1 TB disk, and so on.
If any of you have experience setting up a virtual lab like this, would be highly appreciated.

IP based virtual servers in upgrade to iws6
We are running about 20 hardware virtual sites on a iws 4.x server running on NT. they each have their own IP address and are all SSL sites. We want to switch to iws6.x, but everything is different. has anyone successfully upgraded in a similar situation? we think we need to create a seperate listen socket for each IP address. How would we add a server cert to each of the virtual servers? Thanks!
Hi,
<b>How would we add a server cert to each of the virtual servers?</b>
The below steps will help you how to Install individual cert for each virtual server :
Webserver 6.x allows you to install individual certificates for each
virtual server.
1. Request multiple certificates and while installing those certificates
give an unique certificate name...say virtualcert1,virtualcert2 etc.
2. Verify those certificates by clicking the "manage certificate"
option.
2. Create virtual servers and if you are creating ip based virtual
servers (hardware vs) then you can group then to the same listen
sockets. This can be accomplished by editing the listen sockets and
choosing the advanced--->group option.
3. Now again go to the Edit listen Socket and turn on the Security.
Apply the changes.
4. You will now see a new link named 'Attributes' appearing.
5. Click that link and a new screen will open
6. You will have the Virtual servers listed and also the certificate
name appearing. You can now associate unique certificate to each of
those virtual servers created.
6. Click OK and apply the changes.
This will install the unique certificate for each virtual server.
I hope this helps.

Dakshin.

Hello Guys,
We are in the process of moving our servers to Virtual Servers with our Service Providers and our EP 5.0 server is also part of it. I wanted to know whether SAP supports Virtual Servers for EP and if yes what care should we be taking.
Any help on this would be highly appreciated. Also if you can point me to the right direction then it would be great.

Maximum user and hardware requirement for SAP B1
Dear All,
One of our prospect said that they will need 80 users and 160 connections to servers. And every year there will be additional user growth as much 30. What will be the hardware requirement for that ? has SAP B1 installed in that kind situation ? I appreciate your answer.
Rgds,Mark,
Please refer to the following PDF
https://websmp206.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700000270512007E&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000183&_ADDINC=
Regarding 80 user initially with a growth of 30 user every year should not be a problem, but you might want to consider the volume of transactions to determine the performance aspect of the system.

Running SAP on Microsoft Virtual Servers
Is anyone running SAP on Microsoft Virtual Servers? If so, what has been your experience with this? We are installing NetWeaver 2004s on three virtual servers (running on the same Physical Windows server). We are using the Microsoft Virtual Server software (not VM Ware).
Thanks in advance for any information.Check Note 674851 - Virtualization on Windows:
VMware, GSX Server, VMware workstation, Microsoft Virtual Server
Due to their restriction to 32-bit, single CPU and host/guest operation, these virtualization products are not suitable for productive SAP applications.
It may be advisable to use one of these products to operate non-production systems (demo systems, test systems, development systems and so on).
I would not use Microsoft Virtual Server for productive installations, additionally, depending on the database used, it may or may not supported by the database vendor and thus also may or may not supported by SAP.
In worst case you will need to reinstall the application on a non-virtualized environment and reproduce a problem there before SAP support will accept the problem.

Hello everyone,
i am already new and need information about the min. hardware requirements for a SAP ERP 2k5 System using ECC 6.0 with IDES 7.10.
I read the Master Guides about ERP, but i am not even more clever than before.
The OS is MS Windows 2k3 Server EE.
The last information i had from another one to this configuration is:
1 dual-core cpu (? Ghz)
4-6 GB RAM
300 GB HDD
Does it fit? Can anyone help me out?
Thanks in advance.

Marcel JahnHi,
IDES 7.10?!?
If it's an IDES system you want to set up, HDD space may be the bottleneck. It's sufficient for installation, but you may run out of disk space since note <a href="https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1013391">1013391</a> states
Hardware Requirement
MS-SQL ORACLE MaxDB DB2 Win/Unix AS/400
DB size (GB): 160 220 220 160 280
Since IDES is for education and training purposes only the rest should be sufficient.
I'm running an ERP 6.0 IDES system (32 bit) on a single core, 3.2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 250 GB System and 500 GB SAP/DB HDD with pretty good response time.

Minimum Hardware Requirement for SAP Business One For HANA
Hello EveryOne,
I want to install SAP Business One for HANA (On Premises) Version on my Laptop. What would be the minimum hardware requirement for that so that it can run smoothly on the system.
Is it can install on laptop or I need to buy giant server.
Thanks in advanceHi Idrees,
Check following links:
http://help.sap.com/hana/SAP_HANA_Server_Installation_Guide_en.pdf

http://help.sap.com/hana/SAP_HANA_Server_Installation_Guide_Unified_Installer_en.pdf

One more thing to note that you can use only HANA Certified Hardwares for B1 (Dell, Fujitsu, HP, IBM, HUAWEI)
Hope it helps.

Hardware requirements for BOE XI 3.1
Hello,
I am looking for the hardware requirements to install BOE XI 3.1, but could not find any information in Installation guide as well as deployment guide.
The information given is something like below, but if I click the link it will be redirected to SAP service market place.
================================================
System requirements
For a detailed list of supported environments and hardware requirements,
consult the Products Availability Report (PAR) document available on the
Business Objects support site http://support.businessobjects.com/documen
tation/supported_platforms. This document includes specific version and
patch-level requirements for web application servers, web browsers, and
operating systems. For information related to the planning of a
BusinessObjects Enterprise deployment, consult the BusinessObjects
Enterprise Planning Guide.
================================================
Where can I get the correct document?
Thank you in advanced!
rgs,
HiroshiHi,
go to [http://service.sap.com/bosap-support] and navigate to Documentation->Supported Platforms->BusinessObjects XI 3.1
Keep in mind that what you see there are the minimum HW requirements. And if you are planing on deploying BOBJ on a virtual machine, make sure that it gets enough CPU and RAM and that the disk I/O on the host has a decent throughput.

BusinessObjects Edge 3.1 - Hardware Requirement
Hello Group,
I am looking to get Hardware requirement for BO Edge 3.1 server (Web, App, DS and DB).
Servers are VS and hosted in the cluster resources.
Thanks,You'v just quoted the minimum requirements here and I would not advise that. For a start from the XI3.1 side, Tomcat and OS alone will need 1GB RAM, which leaves 1GB for the application. 4GB minimum in my experience.
You should really do some sizing of users, usage and report sizes - http://service.sap.com/sizing > Sizing Guidelines > Anlaytics and pick the XI3.1 zip file. You don't have to spend hours on it but do some background.
For DS, it will totally depend on how many developers and how much throughput and response time required. Again, anything less than 4 GB would be false economy I think.
As it's virtual you can start with 8GB for the application and test it - you can allocate more later. More CPU will help things along - I would start with 4 vCPU's.
30GB space is not enough by any means as you have patch space, file space for FRS and possible files for DS. I would allocate 100GB.
