SAP* or DDIC being unable to create logical system in SAP PI 7.1

greetings !
I am not a basis person.
I had freshly installed PI 7.1. I was finding that I am being unable to create new logical systems . I tried logging to both clients 000 and 001 using sap* , ddic , and pisuper . pisuper does not even have the authorization to execute SALE . SAP* and DDIC can excecute SALE but unable to create or assign clients.
I reinstalled my system from scratch thinking i must have errored on something, as creating clients is a very simple task. but even the new PI 7.1 gives me the same problem.
is something wrong with my installation , or there are additional roles/authrizations I need to assign to a user.

Besides PISUPER other users are also created some of the are PIAFUSER, PIDIRUSER, PIRWBUSER etc. Every user has a specific purpose in a PI system. For activities like creating logical system etc. own id's should be used.
There are couple of guides out there which explains in detail the purpose of all the users in PI system.

But everytime I try to do that logical system is getting created under 'BI' folder (instead of 'SAP' folder). Do you know why this could happen?

Hi SDNBI,
I have stumbled across the same phenomenon. Netweaver contains BI and ERP. When in the specific ERP system you want to create under the SAP folder you have in the past used the RSA1 transaction then the system thinks that this system should belong to BI folder. Hence it places that in BI folder. On the other hand when you have not executed RSA1 in the system you want to create then it should place it normally under the SAP folder because in that case it doesnt relate it to BI.

A logical system is used to identify an individual client in a system, for ALE communication between SAP systems. That's why you see a field for 'logical system' in the client master data in SCC4 (table T000).

Create Logical System in R/3 system

Hi all,
I am trying to define logical system for xMII server in R/3 system using SALE transaction. But the logical system for xMII server doesn't already exist. So I have chosen to create one. Seems there is format like <sys_id>'CLNT'<client>.
1) How to create logical system for xMII server in this format?
2) How does R/3 know in which host xMII server is running? Do we specify that somewhere? Is there any other configurations for linking xMII host and logical system?
I am new to xMII and so not aware of the steps. Please help me out.

Welcome to xMII.
Though i nvr used such things from the SAP R/3 system side, i think the logical system name format must be something like SAPSYS<Number> for SAP Connection BUSCON<Number> for Business Connector. After hving defined the Logical System in R/3 System, u need to configure the SAP Business Connector Interface Action in xMII-based Business Logic Services.

Hi,
First make your client modifiable, then follow the below procedure.
Go to transaction SALE or BD54 -> Sending and Receiving Systems -> Logical Systems -> You'll see "Define Logical System" and "Assign Client to Logical System".

I'm an abaper and want to create Logical System For ALE. When i tried to make it using Tcode: SALE, msg appears that "Caution: The table is cross-client", when clik on continue button it shows "You are not allowed to change cross-client customizing". Help with proper documentation.

what you did is correct but you don't have the authorization for cross-clients in your sever.First take the authorization for cross-clients then follw the steps

Unable to create logical joins

Oracle BI version 10.1.3.3
After transferring the tables from the physical layer to the business modeling layer, I am trying to create logical joins among the tables in the logical layer using the Logical Diagram. At the logical join dialog box, I am unable to select the table columns on either side and the join operator is grayed out. The join is created, but with an empty expression.
I am, however, able to create foreign keys in this layer.
What could be the reason for this, and how do I create logical joins? The documentation recommends to create logical joins rather than foreign keys.
I have the same problem if I use the Join Manager.

Hi,
What you´re doing is creating "Complex joins" at logical level, that´s why the boxes are grey, you can't insert a join operator in this type of joins. It is recommended that you use complex joins at logical level that follow's the physical joins at physical level.

Unable to create logical dimension in bmm layer

Hi all,
I am not able to create a logical dimension hierarchy in the bmm layer of the rpd.
when I right click on the table I am not able to find the create logical dimension option in the popup window.
could you please help me out in this?

Create Dimensions is only available if the selected logical table is a dimension table (defined by 1:N logical joins) and no dimension has been associated with this table.
To create a dimension automatically, the Administration Tool examines the logical
table sources and the column mappings in those sources and uses the joins between physical tables
in the logical table sources to determine logical levels and level keys.
Hope you have defined the Logical join in BMM before looking for this option. If joins are not defined, this option won't come.

Creating logical systems in EP7

hello,
We have created a logical system that conects to a backend. All portal iviews point to this logical system.
We have to change the properties of the logical system but before do this step we need to proove that works correctly without changing the final users preview.
So we should create a new logical system and duplicate all iviews to point to this new logical system and to prove them.
But We prefer not to duplicate all portal content... Is other way to do this????

Unable to create a system in SMSY

When am trying to create a system in SMSY all the required feilds got enabled except installation number.The installation number field got disabled.So,that we are unable to move forward.

First create the 3 RFC required with satellite then you can run the following wizard to fetch the details

Later you can fetch the rest details goto landscape components system then on the right side
by clicking refresh Read System Data Remote button.

Unable to create Business System with role Integration Server

hi Experts,
we are unable to create a BS with role of integration server, its throwing error with internal server 500.

Hi Kesava,
what is the purpose of creating a business system of type IS? This is automatically done in the post installation by CTC templates. So if the post installation is successfully executed, this should already be there. And if not you should check if the post installation was properly executed and if there where problems analyse why they occured.
The creation of the BS is just one part of the game, so I would highly recommend to execute the hole post configuration via template or follow the help.sap.com and execute it step by step manually in the described order. Otherwise i guess this will not work.
If there where just problems with SLD - please also have a look at SA Note 1117249 - Incomplete Registration of PI components in SLD

Unable to create File System Repository using Network Path

Hi All,
I am trying to create a File System Repository.
I created a networkpath and windows system and used the same while creating File Repository according to the steps in help.
With out using Networkpath(i.e.,If I use IP address,I am able to create File System Repository).
But with the network path,it throws the following error as seen in Component Monitor.
Startup Error: The localroot does not exist: C:\usr\sap\IGTE\j2ee\j2ee_00\cluster\server\NWP_001
My network path is NWP_001

Did any one face this problem?
Any help please........

Hi,
I am getting the same error even if I replace(\) by slashes(/).
I tried on EP6SP12 as well as EP6SP2 and got the same error on both.
The repository is searching for a folder named with
n/w path on the portal server itself(i.e, it is searching in the following folder
C:\usr\sap\IGTE\j2ee\j2ee_00\cluster\server\NWP_001
My network path is NWP_001),instead of searching on the remote system.
Can any one help me in solving the problem
