• Visual Studio and BPC 10.0

Hi all,
I'm a relatively new Planning Consultant and on a new project have the requirement of having an input screen for the allocation of time, for an individual, against a project.
Examples of the required input are:
- Allocate Nick Carter, to Project ABC, for 28 November 2011, Full Day (8hours).
- Allocate Joe Bloggs, to Project XYZ, from 28th November to 1st February, Full Days
Has anyone used Visual Studio to create an input screen, and maybe used a drag and drop design that integrates well with BPC.
There is also a requirement for Versions, i.e. Scenario 1, Scenario 2, which allow different planning options.
The BPC input screen, even with the Web UI 10.0 is limited, especially due to the way it presents data as numbers as opposed to text.
Any feedback or advice would be much appreciated!

Hi Sabine, thank you for the replies!
We are using BPC 10.0 for NetWeaver, and not MS.
The reassurance that it is technically possible if good for our Project as we can start to move forwards with the Bluerprinting. We are going to use NetWeaver Gateway to connect Visual Studio to SAP (BW and BPC).
We have done some mock-ups for Excel but have come accross some significnat limitations, some of which are column limits, and how we need the input cell, e.g. 8 (hours), to Project Name.
[The current solution looks like this|http://i44.tinypic.com/1o7hjr.jpg], and the way that we thought BPC Excel could look is like this: [BPC Excel Possible Design|http://www.freeimagehosting.net/newuploads/fef8f.jpg]
I have also found information that there are row and column limitations on excel that will restrict the volume of data we are required to show / input at any one time. (I found information [here|Maximum Number of Columns Exceeded Message; under Sakthi Jaganathan's post)
I'm not sure what you mean by Business Object Connector. From internet research it suggests it's a BOBJ connector for BI4 which we will be using for reporting.
Thanks again for your comments, you don't realise how much it helps us!

• BPC(OutlookSoft) and IFRS

Hi all,
I'd need to know if there's any template that could help an implementation team to develop the consolidation processes to comply with IFRS. I know there are several BPC (OutlookSoft) implementations in Europe that comply with IFRS reporting standards.
Is there anyone who can share this information, perhaps from the European consulting team, about some templates (guidelines, reports, etc) ?
Thanks!
Diego.

Hi,
Our company has been around for several years now and we come from an OutlookSoft background. We have been implementing IFRS applications on OutlookSoft and we have our own standard. Check on cfobelux.com and drop me a mail (use the contact page)

• SAP BW 7.3 and BPC 7.5 NW

Hi,
We are currently using BPC 7.5 Netweaver with BI 7.01
We are now planning to migrate our BI to BW 7.3. We had earlier heard that BPC 7.5 does not work or is not supported with BW 7.3
Kindly help and let me know if BW 7.3 and BPC 7.5 work together. Is there any specific support pack on BW or BPC that will make them work together.
Please help.
Thanks and Regards,
Amit

Hi Amit,
In case you still need assistance on this subject, BPC 7.5 SP09 is supported on NW & BW 7.3.
You will need to install the add-on CPMBPC 753 now available in the SMP.
Kind Regards,

• Outlooksoft and SAP

My company is in the process of "archiving" required financial information out of out legacy Outlooksoft product.
Our company converted to using SAP a few years ago which at the time replaced the Outlooksoft functionality.
I need technical assistance that would point me to which tables need to be accessed in order to extract key information for archival.
Please point me to an internal SAP/Outlooksoft technical subject mater expert or have a SAP/Outlooksoft technical representative contact me on the best way in assisting me on this endeavor

• Difference between BCS and BPC

Hi Experts,
Can Someone explain me what is the difference between BCS and BPC.
Thanks in Advance

BCS is developed by SAP and uses BW for the data storage, as well as other BW objects for master data and virtual infocubes with imbedded consolidations logic for reporting. This is, in my opinion, the most dynamic consolidations too and best for more complex scenarios.
BPC is the purchased Outlooksoft tool that does not until recently include the use of BW, and is better for simple consolidations scenarios.
SAP can provide more information regarding both.
There is yet another tool, previously know as Cartesis, and now called SAP Financial Consolidations. This is also better than BPC for complex scenarios.

• S&OP on Hana, IBP and BPC

Hi All,
can some one please help me in understanding the difference between S&OP on HANA, IBP and BPC and how they are differentiated from SAP APO?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks,
Kishore

Story started around 2012 with S&OP Hana until version 3.0. Following marketing definition and Gartner group vocabulary, this application has now change its name to IBP S&OP 4.0. Nothing changes within S&OP except improvements with 4.0.
IBP is a new family of application in SCM under Hana
BCP belongs to analytic family, not much appropriate for SCM Concern.
APO is the previous APS of SAP that is still supported until 2025. Say a new customer needs SCM advance planning, better going IBP nowaday but nothing wrong with APO neither

• SSM and BPC - Implementation Options and Concerns

Hi,
I am hoping that someone can assist with some BPC/SSM implementation queries.
Until recently, our client was intending to implement SEM-CPM and SEM-BPS. Now, our client is considering the implementation of SSM and BPC. This raises a number of questions with regards to these products and their integration with Netweaver 7.0. Kindly see my questions/comments below:
BPC
1. Our client intends to implement BPC 5.1 immediately and then migrate to BPC 7.0 once the integration with BW is provided for. Until BPC 7.0 becomes available, it was assumed that BPC could exchange data with SAP BW by means of a flat file export/import process. From a technical perspective, is this assumption correct? Would you recommend this approach? Are there other ways to enable this data exchange?
2. In order to allow for effective data exchange between BW and BPC, we will need to replicate the BW cubes in BPC and update these cubes with the required BW master and meta data. In this case, I understand that data integrity and synchronization between BW and BPC is very difficult to maintain. What are your views in this regard? What steps can be taken to improve this sychronisation process?
3. SAP has committed to provide BPC/BW integration next year. Considering this, do you recommend that we begin with a BPC 5.1 implementation now or do you recommend that we wait until the integration is provided in version BPC 7.0.?
SSM
1. Does PilotWorks exist in Unix and what data base must it use?
2. What is the maturity of the mapping tool used to map SAP to Pilot Works?
3. Is there any data that must reside in Pilot Works or can all data be centralised in BW?
4. Is there any workstation setup necessary to run Pilot Works off a desktop?
General CPM
1. Even though we are still deciding which planning/balanced scorecard tool is ideal, we intend to begin immediately with the BW data modeling process. Is it reasonable to assume that the eventual decision to implement BPC or SSM will NOT have a significant impact on the data model from a functional or technical perspective? Obviously, we do not wish to build a data model that will be incompatible with BPC/SSM or that will place limitations on BPC/SSM functionality. If BPC/SSM will impact data modelling, what points should we take into consideration when preparing our data model in BW? For example, what data locking issues exist in BPC and how will this impact our BW data modelling?
I would greatly appreciate any assistance/views.
Thanks,
Ross

Hi Ross
Tried to answer your questions on BPC/CPM, my collegues in SSM will answer your SSM queries:

Yes this is a right approach.

In this case, I understand that data integrity and synchronization between BW and BPC is very difficult to maintain. What are your views in this regard? You can use informatica with whom SAP have a OEM agreement, to facilitate this process
3. SAP has committed to provide BPC/BW integration next year. Considering this, do you recommend that we begin with a BPC 5.1 implementation now or do you recommend that we wait until the integration is provided in version BPC 7.0.?
You should start with 5.1 implementation and later migrate to 7.0. With that you can start using the functionality and only the platform layer will change later
General CPM

There will not be any compromises on functionality and therefore you should be good to have any data model within BPC model

• Same BW for BEX Reporting and BPC

Hello Experts,
Iu2019m working in a BW and BPC project. We have a BW 7.01 with several cubes, DSOu2019s and queries for different areas (FM, FI, HR, etc..), the front end is Microsoft for client decision. We want to install BPC 7.5 Netweaver in the same BW.
Is there any problem to have our current models and the new applications (cubes) and dimensions (characteristics) of BPC in the same BW? What is the best practice? Is there any SAP restriction?
I just can think in risks at the moment that we need to apply Support Packages or Enhancement Packages, I mean, take care of both applications.
Thanksu2026

Hi Jose ,
Please refer to the below thread for your question.
Do we need to Upgrade existing BI 7.0 to EHP1 for BPC 7.0 NW.

• Connection Problem between BiW Server and BPC Server

Dear all,
Situation,
We have a CSV file dumped in BI Application server in directory defined by us for all Transaction data. Now this CSV file needs to be moved to BPC Server.
Connection/Link between BI and BPC server is missing. So we need one link between BI and BPC server, so that we can automate the movement of CSV from BI server to BPC server.
Is there is any Tool from which can establish connection between two.(i.e. BiW and BPC server).
OR
Do we have any alternate solution of Transfering Transaction data from SAP R/3 or BiW Server to BPC Server.
Thanks in advance

Hi all,
I installed the Content Server with DB instance. ECC on AIX and the Content Server on Windows are on different domains and wanted to integrate. After the installation what I did is as follows...
I am trying to create the Content Repository using the Tx- OAC0, given the the following details as
Content Repository name--- DMS_xxxx
Document Area - DMS
Storage Type -- HTTP Content Server
Version -0046
HTTP Server --- fully qualified host name of the Content Server
Port Number --- 1090
HTTP Script --- ContentServer\ContentServer.dll
Physical Basic Path--- (initially) -
/usr/sap/<ECCSID>/SYS/global/
(modified) --- E:\ContentServer\ -
not available, thought it will create, even created later
Physical archive path --- SAME as Physical Basic Path
When I check the connection, I am getting an error "Content repository DMS_xxxx does not exists.
When I check Tx- CSADMIN-- it gives an error saying the "HTTP error : 4010 (authorized) ' Permission denied: adminContRep&configSet"
I am not sure what user should i use for this and what should be the information of ContentStorageHost, ContentStorageName and Storage need to be provided.
Please help me in this....

• Difference between BPC for MS and BPC for NW

Hi All,
I'm looking for some comparative analysis between BPC for MS and BPC for NW. Can you please give me your points or direct me to some link/material where I can find such stuff.
Primarily I'm focusing on following two points:
- How would the integration to SAP BI work (=differences between SAP BPC (NW) and SAP BPC (MS))?
Could the same degree of automation be established?
- I was told that SAP BPC (MS) could be much faster implemented than the NW version. Is this really the case? Why?
I would really appreciate your earliest response.
Regards,
Shabbar

Hi,
BPC for MS runs on Microsoft platform where as BPC for NW runs on SAP Netweaver.
BPC for NW is tightly integrated with SAP BI all the dimensions and applications created in BPC NW can be seen in BI system in the form of Infoobject (dimensions) and Infocubes (applications).
Performance depends on the complexity and scalability of the project. BPC for NW may undergo lots of improvements and developments in future versions.
search SDN u will get help.
Hope this helps

• Norton Firewall and BPC Admin

Hi
One of my client has problems with Norton Firewall (Version 8.7.4.79) and BPC Admin (v5.2). When the Firewall is on, even at the lowest security level and with OSoftAdminMain.exe in "secured progam" it does not want to log on!
The solution is to turn off the firewall.
I was just wondering if someone has this problem?
Nic

Hi Nicolas Argente,
please setting the Norton Firewall and Antivirus to unblock the SAP BPC AddIn such as:
EV4DMMPM, EV4Excel, Ev4ExcelPM,Ev4Excel.dll.
You can find that files on client directory: C:\Program Files\BPC
I hope my information can help you.
