    Hi,
Does anyone know what the minimum requirements are for an Installation of Outlooksoft & Pilot Software? I have sent a mail to SAP to obtain this information, but if someone else has it to hand that would be great.

    Hello Paulo,
SAP have OSS note 435493 as to that.
Moreover, from experience of Retail Store group, we know that a powerful network connection to the store is required to get a satisfactory response time for the user. 128 kbit/s is minimum, 256 is better.

  • Outlooksoft and SAP

My company is in the process of "archiving" required financial information out of out legacy Outlooksoft product.
Our  company converted to using SAP a few years ago which at the time replaced the Outlooksoft functionality.
I need technical assistance that would point me to which tables need to be accessed in order to extract key information for archival.
Please point me to an internal SAP/Outlooksoft technical subject mater expert or have a SAP/Outlooksoft technical representative contact me on the best way in assisting me on this endeavor

  • OutlookSoft 4.2 - SAP Support Strategy

    Hello All,
I want to know the SAP's support strategy for OutlookSoft/BPC. Specifically, when the support for 4.2 is ending?
Our Client is on 4.2 SP3. What is the recommended support pack for OutlookSoft 4.2?
Also, are there any maintenance fees for OutlookSoft 4.2 in order to be supported by SAP for extended period of time?
    Regards,

    Hi,
I think, it is better to upgrade to BPC 5.X /7.X from OutlookSoft 4.2-SP3, so that your organization will be on par with latest SAP  BPC tools. From BPC 9.X ( should be released around late 2009), this will be all together new tool, with complete changes & total integration with BI/IP/SEM in it.. By that time OutlookSoft 4.2, will be all most uotdated.  Neverthless you can upgrade to OutlookSoft 4.2-SP4/SP5, but again in future you need to upgrade to BPC 5.X/7.X.
For upgardations & support , please contact SAP Support, where you will get complete details & dates.

  • SAP BPC 5. 0  VS Outlooksoft 5.0 SP 2

What are the main differences between SAP BPC 5. 0 /5.1 VS Outlooksoft 5.0 SP 2 ?
As far as i know Outlooksoft 5.0 is the newer version of Outlooksoft Everest. Since SAP Acquired Outlooksoft, they renamed to its own brand SAP Business Planning and Consolidation 5.0 and later 5.1.
One more question: Does BPC 5.1 works with Oracle 10 G ? It seems like OS 5.0 works with Oracle but could not find any information if BPC 5.1 works with Oracle.
If it is being developed currently,  what are the time table for next release that works with Oracle 10G
Any answers would be greatly appreciated !!!
    Thanks

You should have checked "PAM" at
    http://service.sap.com/pam
on the find look for "Business Planning and Consolidation", I tried for BCP but it didn't find anything.
there you can find the details about DB released, OSs ...
On the DB tabs I can only find MS SQL Server, then, it does not work (or it is not supported) with Oracle at all

  • How to Run Allocation in Outlooksoft Everest 4.2 or SAP BPC 5.1

    Hello,
Currently we use OS Everest 4.2 and we are in the Process of installing SAP BPC 5.1. We haven't used OS or BPC for allocation. I am trying to find a document that helps us guide through the process of creating a Allocation rules / formulas.
We found a Allocation Manual in Old Outlooksoft Support site and tried using it but it doesn't work or may be I am doing something wrong.
This is a Sample Allocation formula that we were just trying to see if it works.
    *RUNALLOCATION
    *FACTOR=USING/100
    *DIM ACCOUNTS  WHAT=AMOUNT; WHERE=<<<; USING = COUNT
    *DIM ENTITY  WHAT=EAST; WHERE=EAST;USING<>EAST
    *ENDALLOCATION
    *COMMIT
It gives us  an error shown below when validating the Logic: shown below
    Update Excel file to Server
    Getting formulas
    Creating LGF file
    Validating logic
    *ValidateFormula: Invalid instruction: RUNALLOCATION
    Error occured
If you have any documents that will show the step by step instructions on how ALLOCATION works and how to implement, please send it. I didn't find any thing in the helpfile. Its very difficult to figure out without any documentation.
I would appreciate any help.. Thanks a lot !!!

First of all, I am feeling for you. It is very hard situation that thousand of users has own local "MyDocument" folder in local PC.
Folder structure between 5.1 and 4.2 is almost identical. Only difference is name of folder in My Documents. It was "Everest" in 4.2 but "OutlookSoft" in 5.1.
And there is couple more differences but it is going to recover automatically. Something like dimension cache, appinfo archive.
So, I like to suggest rename current "Everest" to "OutlookSoft" in My Documents. And do some test. I think biggest issue of here is report functionality between two versions.
At least, simple rename procedure is much easier than copy all reports to correct path.
    I'm praying for your luck.

Does anyone know if we can install a trial version of SAP NetWeaver BPC Outlooksoft?
    Thanks for any feedback.

    Not for the moment.
This because the product is still into RampUp. Only after the general release we can speak about the possibility to have a trial version.

  • Differences: Outlooksoft 4.x Vs. SAP BPC 7.0 MS

    Hello,
I need urgently the following information:
    - What were the specifications of version 4 of OutlookSoft?
    - What are the improvements and differences involved in SAP BPC 7.0 MS compared to OutlookSoft 4 in all possible areas (security, architecture, reports, etc.)?
    Best regards,
    Miguel.

    Miguel,
You may need to ask this question to SAP sales person because there are a lot of change in architecture, functions and platforms.
Here is the main reason why user have to upgrade.
4.2 only support SQL2000 and Microsoft will not support it any more.
In addition, SQL2000 could not support X64 DB server.
I hope it will help you but you can get the detail information from SAP sales team.
    Thank you
    James Lim.

  • BPC (Outlooksoft) and SAP Solution Manager

Has anyone seen the SAP Solution Manager used to rollout and/or upgrade Outlooksoft (now called BPC - Business Planning and Consolidation)?
I am trying to assess the usefulness of this tool in an implementation where the only SAP module the company has is Outlooksoft (BPC), so all thoughts are appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Greg

Question was never answered but I'm closing it due to SDN's number of open question per user limitation.

  • SAP BPC or OutlookSoft Books

    Hi Gurus,
I am searching for any books for SAP BPC 5.1 or OutlookSoft from which I can get a good idea of where does SAP BPC fit in an enterprise and how to work on it. Unfortunately I couldnt find any books to purchase. Please list any good books for SAP BPC or OutlookSoft I am really eager to gothrough this.
Thanks to everyone in advance !!
    Sudhakar Kuricheti

Along with the link that Umesh provided, you can find further information under the tabs above, (i.e., downloads, elearning, ...). Other than the wealth of information provided under this network you will need to enroll in SAP-BPC training ($$$).
Please don't take the following personally, you have some very good and valid questions.
I have seen the mess created by people, (some very smart) trying to implement BPC without any real training or experience. I don't recommend it!
I see so many people trying to implement BPC and the questions they post on this forum only demonstrates the individuals lack of knowledge of BPC to the whole world. Don't forget, this is a public forum and many companies/clients/users read the posts to this forum.
This is a great forum for the exchange of information and ideals by people that have anywhere from fundamental to high level expertise with the BPC; there is information posted here you will not find elsewhere. I know some of the people that use to monitor and respond to questions, (some great stuff) now refuse to be bothered because of the people seeking to use this forum for training/education.
    Please excuse my venting!
    Thanks!

  • OutlookSoft Point of Contact at SAP?

I am looking for is a point of contact from SAP who is focused on OutlookSoft consulting.
I know we were still wrapping up some consulting activities with our implementation.
Unfortunately, I found out after the fact that the entire team that I had worked with during our OutlookSoft implementation had left SAP in mid May.
This puts us in an unfortunate situation due do knowledge loss.
I'd like to at least establish a SAP point of contact to which I can discuss the status of our implementation.
Is there anyone at SAP who is an OutlookSoft Lead?
Or would it be best to go to the third party vendor which now employs the consultants and team that we have used in the past?
    Thank you.
    - Jason Schwartz

    Hi Jason,
You would have better luck posting on the Business Process Expert -> Enterprise Performance Management Forum.
James Sherrit and Scott Cairncross of the BPC (formerly OutlookSoft) RIG and Prakash Darji of BPC Product Management check in there from time to time.  There are others from SAP involved with CPM/FPM that keep an eye on that forum.
    Business Planning
    Hope this helps.

p.s. BTW, are you using version 5.0 or 5.1?

  • Business Objects vs. SAP Strategy Management

    Hi all,
I am new to this forum and would like to post a message regarding the recent news on SAP and Business Objects.
Business Objects has more than 6000 CPM customers and in then meantime we find many statements like http://www.gartner.com/DisplayDocument?id=530626 in the web
Since the announcement a couple of weeks have passed. My question is, if you have detailed analysis on how the Balanced Scorecard solution of both companies will differ respectively overlap. Are there any documents on that point available? And are there any consequences to be expected e.g. with respect to the price model?
    Thanks for your help,
    Alessandro

    Hi Alessandro,
I fully agree with Prakash's reply - at the moment Nenshad's comments represent the 'only version of the truth' regarding the BOBJ acquisition.
However, there is still a possibility to add some useful information on this as you are referring to a 'Balanced Scorecard' solution in general. As there are currently two sides to this equasion: SAP and BOBJ, for the SAP part we can be more specific:
SAP Strategy Management (SSM) based on the technology acquired with Pilot Systems Co. in February 2007 is the tool of choice for scorecarding in the <u>current</u> CPM portfolio of SAP (SAP's current CPM portfolio is based on the acquisitions of Outlooksoft, Pilot and the reseller agreement with Acorn). This reduces the complexity a little bit as you no longer have to contemplate which of SAP's own scorecarding solutions is the leading one <u>at the moment</u>. SEM-CPM Balanced Scorecard is retired - being put in maintenance mode - and all customers encouraged to move to Strategy Management, facilitated by a planned migration utility.
Shall you want to learn more about SAP Strategy Management, feel free to refer to my blog series (e.g. <a href="/people/karol.bliznak/blog/2007/09/12/one-blog-is-not-enough--how-to-manage-performance-management).
