SAP PM Analytics

HI
Can anyone guide me how to start with SAP PM Module Analytics.
A Dashboard for PM basically?
Thank
Rohit Jain

Hi Rohit,
If you have BW system in your landscape, you can begin with installing the standard BI Content for PM module.
Further you can enhance the standard content or build your own custom objects, as per Business/Reporting requirements.
Following link contains all the information related to PM reporting in BW:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bw33/helpdata/en/b0/e3163d5abd752de10000000a114084/frameset.htm
If you have Business Objects as the front-end reporting tool, you can built WebI reports or Xcelsius Dashboards on top of BEx Queries, once your DataWarehouse layer for PM module is developed in BW.

  • ODBC Issues with SAP Predictive Analytics 2.0 - Automated Analysis

    Dear all,
maybe this adds only an aspect to the Infinite Insight OCBC Connection difficulties discussed in
    http://scn.sap.com/message/15766247#15766247
but after trying and searching the web for more than a day any help would be appreciated.
    This is the situation:
I'm using SAP PA 2.0 Desktop version and would like to upload a flatfile (*csv) to the Data Manager of Automated Analysis. Unfortunately, none of the solutions found by now worked.
It is a SAP PA 2.0 64bit version installed on a Windows 7.0 64 bit P. The installed MS Office version is 32bit as all available drivers. Deinstalling MS Office and reinstalling a 64bit version is not an option. It is not possible to install SAP PA 2.0 32bit version either - the Installation process stops due to the wrong operations system.
The DSN configuration suggested in the SCN discussion mentioned above didn't work, although displayed as data source in the Data Manager data base/file selection Screen. The error message returned is a Microsoft ODBC error [IM014] indicating that for the DSN used, there is an architecture mismatch between driver and application,
The attachments shows screenshots of the error message and the situation in the ODBC adminitrator consoles both for 32bit and for 64bit (in system32 and SysWOW64 shares).
Is there a solution to this problem?
    Kind regards
    Elisabeth

    Hi Elisabeth,
If I understand correcty, you would like to upload your csv file to a database.
What kind of database is it ?
The Automated part of Predictive Analytics supports the following databases:
    SAP HANA
    Sybase IQ
    Oracle
    Hive
    Teradata
    Microsoft SQL Server
    MySQL 5
    Netezza
    IBM DB2
    PostgreSQL
    Vertica
    Greenplum
Your screensot shows ODBC connections to Excel and Text files. It is is not real databases, it cannot execute SQL code.
For more information on configuring a database connection on your machine, you can refer to this document : https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/012002523100001708812015E/pa20_conndb_win_conf_en.pdf
Note that you need a database driver installed on your machine and access to a database (either installed on your machine or on a remote server).
In general, all documentation related to PA2.0 can be found here : SAP Predictive Analytics 2.0 – SAP Help Portal Page.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to create SAP Business Analytics Prof. User in BO XI?

    Hi experts,
we've some users of type "SAP Business Analytics Prof. User" in our contract with SAP. How to create this kind of users in CMC? I've created them in our ERP-System, but is there a way to attach them to BO user administration?
    Thanks and best regards,
    Max

    Hi Max,
In terms of users in XI3.1 you have 2 options:
    1. You can manually create Enterprise Users in the Users and Groups area of the CMC.
    or;
    2. You can import the BW users in from your SAP system, done via the Authentication - SAP area of the CMC
I'm assuming the SAP Business Analytics Prof users mentioned in your contract are simply users who are licensed to use the SAP Business Analytics product. If so when your uses are in the XI3.1 system, you can simply add them to a SAP Business Analytics group and give them access to the application. If user access to SAP Business Analytics exceeds the licence count then subsequent logons to SAP Business Analytics will be denied.
I hope this is a very helpful answer to you.
    If not please clarify further.
    Kind regards,
    John

  • Error Activating SAP Predictive Analytics Desktop Trial for AWS

    Hi:
Anyone had come across this issue while activation SAP Predictive Analytics Desktop Trail for AWS?. I selected US east as my region for my AWS account. Subnets show up on the CAL side as well on the account setting. Have tried terminating and recreation many times.
checked the user access and it is correct as per the documentation.
Would appreciate and input/guidance in resolving this issue.
    Thanks
    Bala

    Thanks Stanimir:
I signed up for the developer support package for AWS for this and got it resolved yesterday. the problem was one of the routes in the route table did not have a Internet Gateway entry missing. so the return traffic could not find the way back to the internet. Root cause is as you stated it may be due to an unexpected error during VPC creation.
Thanks for responding to my query..

  • SAP PA - Licence problem? Automated Analysis Buttons grayed out

    Hi guys,
i recently installed SAP Predictive Analytics 2.0 and used it two weeks ago. Now i tried to continue my work with it and launched the application. The buttons for analysis are grayed out now, for instance, i can't click on "create a classification model":
I tought it have to be a licence problem and launched the expert mode, had 10 days left and added a new key (now: 60 days). I didn't solved my problem so i changed the keycode in cfg file (C:\Program Files\SAP Predictive Analytics\Desktop 2.0). It didn't solved the problem either.
Anyone can help me with that problem?

    Hi again
    Thanks for the added information.
It seems the key code is not enabling the automated analytic features, at least per the way the product is behaving.
See http://scn.sap.com/thread/3578771 for a thread where the result in the product is the same.
    I recommend two things:
Please double check your key and potentially ask one again using the site here: Keys | SAP Support Portal. Please note there atre keys enabling (or not) different features. There is a slide detailing this here: http://scn.sap.com/community/predictive-analysis/blog/2015/03/20/predictive-analytics-20-what-is-new-asug-webcast
If this fails still, please log a support ticket.

  • XApp Analytics SCM: error in BEx query definition

I'm configuring the <i>SAP xApp Analytics for SCM</i>. The BEx query <i>Warehouse Stock Analytics – Inventory Turnover</i> (0IC_C03_Q0024) is used in this application. It fetches data from the material movement BI InfoCube (0IC_C03).
Apparently there's an error in this query's definition. When I run it I get the following error message:
Variable 0CYEAR-1 is incorrectly defined  (Message no. BRAIN284):
Variable 0CYEAR-1 has the processing type "Manual Input/Default Value". However, it is not input ready, and no default value has been specified.
Does anyone knows how either this query or this variable is supposed to work?
    Thanks, Davide

A fix for this issue has been given in the thread Warehouse Stock Analytics u0096 Inventory Turnover, on the Business Content forum for BI.

  • Spend Analytics

What cube(s) should be used to get actual spend dollars (invoices) for POs?  The main PO cube only shows PO amounts, we want the actual amount spend by invoice.  This is from our R/3 system, not from SRM, so we cannot use the cubes 0BBP_C01 or 0SR_FIC01 because those get their data from SRM, correct?

  • How xapp Analytics is different from CRM analytics and sem

    Hi,
I need some information on how the xapp analytics is differnet from CRM analytics.  Is this an upgrade functionality or it is  atotaly a different Analytics aplication.  If it is a new process need some brief info on this.
    Thanks
    Naveen

    Hi Naveen,
    Yes, they are totally different.
CRM Analytics is CRM specific, and built in CRM and BI (RFM, CLTV, Data Mining, etc).
SAP xApp Analytics are applications (iViews) built with the Visual Composer (i.e. in the SAP NetWeaver Portal). They are composite applications that can source data from many places, and cover both horizontals and verticals (ie. in the first release of SAP xApp Analytics, there were 110 applications, of which 8 were based on CRM data).
Perhaps, the easiest way to think about it:
    - BI Content is the pre-delivered industry and application specific content for SAP NetWeaver BI.
    - SAP xApp Analytics is the pre-delivered industry and application specific content for SAP NetWeaver Visual Composer.
Check out the Analytics and Visual Composer pages on SDN for more info.
    Hope this helps.

    Ryan

  • What is Analytics? We say, you say...

This is a comment that many customers, potential clients and SAP Partners are asking.  It's a fair question because each SAP product release comes with a whole set of acronyms, slang, lingo, mini-language that is often confusing to new users.
Take Business Intelligence (BI).  Any software vendor who provides a reporting tool will say that they now also have BI.  But is this really true?  Does slapping a user friendly front end to access a couple of joined relational database tables constitute a BI tool/environment? And is BI defined by the tools and data it accesses? Or is BI really a data universe that was thoughtfully created with astuteness, wisdom and good judgment of the business processes being supported by the BI data universe.
So back to the title: <b>What is Analytics</b> and who has the most simple concise, easy to understand definition?
Potential users are asking for a "walk thru" of how an Analytics solution is built using xAPP Analytics and Business Intelligence of SAP.  Jaded BI users are sending SAP messages showing immediate disdain for the touted simplicity of Visual Composer's ability to seamlessly bring any kind of data into the Analytics data space. IT users are right to be skeptical. They have to actually implement a real world solution that will impress their executives and keep it inexpensive (relatively). The information landscape is increasing in complexity at an exponential rate. Global corporations are using the SAP ERP and NetWeaver umbrella to encapsulate in transactional and operational data from newly acquired companies and plants. All corporations want to harmonize the disparate islands of transactions and islands of information that have yet to be globally joined.
<b>We say, you say</b>.  What do <b>YOU SAY about Analytics</b>? We’d like to hear from you.

BI always been about enabling analysis and reporting. When business users look at a BI report, they slice it and dice it, use it to analyze the business.  And BI has always been utilized to analyze business processes, including accessing data in operational systems to do just that.
So, what is analytics?  An aspect of BI, in reality.  Marekting may tell you someting different.  Of course SAP's BI application has the ability to readily utilize any kind of data in the analysis capabilities delviered.
Agreed, BI is a universe, that is not defined by the tool utilized nor the data that is accessed.  So why does it seem that there seems to be some delineation which apparently is  based on which tool is being utilized?
Originally, the differentiator between the new "analytics" and BI, was that analytical applications provide the "closed loop" scenarios - where you can analyze information, then through the application, initiate action in an operational system in an automated manner.  That aspect of analytics has kind of "disappeared", as the difficulty of actually implementing that type of functionality has been shown to be extremely difficult.
Certainly, SAP's BI solution has extensive abilities to "to harmonize the disparate islands of transactions and islands of information that have yet to be globally joined".  Features such as UDI, DBconnect, remote query scenarios, VirtualProvider make this concept not only possible, but are already utilized heavily by SAP customers.
What is the difference between BI from SAP and analytics?  Well, one is that the applications are developed by different groups with very little collaboration.  BI is mainly developed in Walldorf, analytics is mainly developed in Israel.
One difference (in the tools, not the concepts) is that the BI application features only limited abilities to integrate non-SAP data at the front-end (the Web Analyzer in BI in SAP NetWeaver 2004s has this feature, for example), while SAP Analyics has extensive functionality for this purpose.  With SAP analytics, users can model data integration scenarios from multiple applications on the front-end, while typically with the BI application this modeling is done on the back-end (and then the data can be used on the front-end). However, surely back-end modeling vs. front-end modeling is not a differentiator between BI and analytics.
When thinking about the concepts however, analytics is just one aspect of BI, despite the somewhat arbitrary attempts to differentiate them, mainly based on differences in tools and in marketing messaging.

  • SAP PA - Licence problem? Expert Analysis Buttons grayed out

    Hi,
    Installed SAP Predictive Analytics 2.1
Automated analytics options are enabled for me but for some reason Expert analytics option is greyed out
    Refer attached for details...
    OS: Windows 7 SP1, 32 bit
    Setup file name: PADESKTOP2001_0-70000150.exe
P.S. I had SAP Lumira on the same system which we had uninstalled before starting installation for SAP PA 2.1
    Please advice how to resolve...

    Hi Antoine,
Yesterday I tried uninstall followed by fresh install. Expert analytics launch link is still not enabled for me.
But also came across that the link was enabled when we used application from admin superuser login. Tried various changed with my user access without any luck. Strange that other links are working but just not the expert analytics.
Anyway i like the option of directly invoking exe as that seems to be working. That should help me get started.
Thank you for all the help
    Regards, Sakir

  • SAP-BO BI 4.0 SP2 (Patch 7)...?

Setting-up a new "Sandbox" server later this week on Windows Server 2008 (R2) - 64 bit OS.
It looks like the current version I should be deploying is SAP-BO BI 4.0 SP2 Patch 7.
Do I need to apply Patch 7 - or should I just use the regular SAP-BO BI 4.0 SP2 baseline for this Sandbox...?
Normally, we only install full SERVICE PACK levels - not PATCH LEVELS.
Thanks in advance for the advice.

    Hi Mark,
You would need to install SP2 first followed by Patch 2.7, or Patch 2.8 which is due out today or tomorrow.
If you can wait then you  could also align with Feature Pack 3 which is the equivalent of SP3, but that is planned for Q1 2012
The following blog link also details SAP's patching policy.
    http://blogs.sap.com/analytics/2011/10/07/sap-businessobjects-bi-release-plan-update/
I hope this is a very helpful answer to you.

  • Predictive Analytics installation prerequisite

    Hi all,
so I'm trying to install Predictive Analytics 2.0 on my laptop Helix but the system keeps saying the following error:
"This product cannot be installed on the same machine as SAP Predictive Analytics 2.0 All incompatible products must be uninstalled prior to installing this new product."
I've already uninstalled the previous version of PA 2.0 and Lumira, and even uninstalled InfintieInsight just to make sure and rebooted the laptop, but I keep getting the same message. I didn't have this problem with another laptop of mine. Does anyone have got the same problem before?
Please fill me in with your insights. Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
No, you can’t directly access the PAL from PA or HANA Studio in the HANA DB Edition for BW due to licensing restrictions. You need the HANA EE edition to use PAL from PA.
    Thanks,
    Vishwa
