SAP PM-BOM and Material/Spares planning

Hi dear all
can some one help me how to use equipment BOM for Material/Spare planning effectively in SAP PM

Hi,
BOMs in PM define the structure of that Object :eqpt,material,F.loc
Eqpt BOM is used specfic for that eqpt
Material BOM can be used for multiple eqpts in IE02 -->Construction type u can assign material BOM
Similarly F.Loc BOM
You can use this BOMs for material planning in MO
Ex :- If a particular eqpt MOTOR has a BOM -> Then this BOM would be helpful for material planning in Maintenance Order -- Components ..
Spares mentioned in BOM can be directly used for selection into Component Tab .. this will serve u an easy material planning ..
More than this there is nothing .. to my knowledge ..

hi,
in my requirement, i am supposed to create a project automatically based on sales order..
additional requirement is that material components on the project are based on the the selections during the sales order creation
(for example if customer chooses tiles instead of vinyl flooring then materials for tiles will be selected automaticall)
i maintained reference points in my BOM and in the standard network activities.
i also maintained the class and characteristics of the material..
the missing part i believe lies in the dependency being set for the BOM. example:
=if floortype='vinyl' then get BOM_floortype..
how to configure/set up that scenario? i cant seem to find the link between characteristic selection and output of selected BOM.

Bapi For Bom and material Bom in cs71

Hi,
In CS71 we have 2 pushbuttons on the top ie create/copy BOM and create/copy Material BOM. for these 2 funtions i need Bapi or FM for the functionality of those 2 pushbuttons.

I tried to find BAPI for transaction CS71, but it seems that its no available.
Try using BDC method for the same.

SO BOM and Material BOM

Hi all,
I am facing a problem in following scenario.
Sales Order has many line items (100-500). For procurement, Material/WBS BOM is huge.Now the case is that after the procurement, delivery happens from project and invoicing is itemwise. By Itemwise I mean that for a SO line item there will be an advance payment and the following partial invoices based on delivery.I can map this case with the help of milestones in project. But the no. of line items is huge and hence will be milestones (advance payment and progress payments)
One more problems here is that when the SO is made it gives high level item. But there are cases when the SO line items itself is broken down into various subcomponents for invoicing purposes.
Can someplease throw some light on this issue.

Hi Raj..,
1. When you want to replace a group of materials by material you will use this.
2. in the mrp4 view the materials which you want to replace put Discon ind "1" and the remaining materials in the group "3". and give the followup material name.
3. In the Bom select the material to replace and select (F7). in the basic data tab click "Discontin. Data". give the Dis cont grup and follo up grup.

BOM and Material

Hi,
is it possible to define a new BOM version for each new material version in 4.6c?
For example Matnr. 123456 Version 1 has BOM 1 and 123456 Version 2 has BOM 2?
If yes, how can I define it?

Hi,
You can have multiple BOMs for the same material (using the alternative BOM number). But I am not aware of any method of attaching the alternative BOMs to a version number.
In 4.6c, the version function is VERY limited and does not have this kind of link.
Have you thought of using the version number field to hold the BOM alternative number (or vice versa). This would establish a visual link but the link would not actually do anything.

Hi,
cFolders is a collaboration tool (tool used for talking to 3rd parties outside your company.)
Usually you will not give access to your ERP system to others. In that case you use cFolders as medium of sharing information with others.
if the 3rd party colleague want to suggest some improvements or modify you design documents etc., he can do it in cFolders. This then can be verified by you in cFolders (once modification is done he can change the status in cFolders which will trigger a notification to you ) then import it to cFolders.

SAP PM-MM Linkage for spare parts planning

I need to know the linkages between SAP PM-MM for the spare material... do any one came across this concept ?

1.If you create PR for spare part from Maintenance order , when goods receipt comes to stores automatically notification gets created ,this setting is done in Material Master record.
2.You create Equipment BOM & attach it to equipment , for easy way of putting this into order during planning.
3.You can check Material Availability in Maintenance Order.
4.You can define the scope of Check in "Availability Check for Material" , in Spro Customize , you define check should include Material in PR , PO or Quality inspection & other.
5.From Task list which you have planned , you can check how much quantity is currently available or when to procure.
6.You can define default external profile settings for external mat in SPRO settings

Alternative bom and routing selection in planned order

hi
how i can config the system so that while creating planned order
system has to select the alteranative SEQUENCE and alternative routing ?
at opl8 we do this for production orders what about the planned oreders
in scheduling parameters of planned orders we can give only selection ID
WHAT about alternative SEQUENCE .
IN the same way how the system selects the alternative BOM with date in planned order

Hi,
If you r using Prod Version then system pick ups the BOM attached in first valid production version.
So, normally put more frequently used BOM in your first Prod Version.
You have more options to use:
- lot size (defined in BOM header)
- production version (several option you have: lot size, manually assign a PV to a planned order)
- you can use explosion date (OPPP, Logistcs > Production > MRP > Master Data > BOM by date)
MRP 4 (in material master) > 'BOM explosion/dependent requirement' tab > you can set selection method according to your wish.

How BOM and routing is selected for Planned order and Production order?

Can any1 plz tell me how BOM and routing is selected for a planned order and production order. ?

Hello Mathisuthan,
BOM and Routing selection for the planned order and production order through production version, If u have more than one BOM and more than one Routing then u can maintain this information as Production Version in the system.
Production version you maintained
MM01/MM02 -- MRP4--- Production version
Or you can create Production Versions in Mass also with Transaction Code "C223"
In the case no production version maintained/created for the material, then system by default will pick the first BOM and routing.

I am runing LTP, but for all simulative Planned order system is not selecting Routing and BOM.When i change it manually its selecting the correct BOM and Routing.
Please let me know what needed ....

First check the OPU5 setting for routing selection ID for your pant and order type?
Check setting of OPJM fo the selection ID linked application?
OS32 setting for alternative selection.
BOM is selected by the system based on the setting in MRP plant parameters(OPPQ) and in material master MRP view BOM explosion type. I. e based on the validity date, lot size. so on

Material costing without BOM and routing

I have recd an order on sample basis. I want to cost the materia. I don't have BOM and routing. I want to cost that material manually. Is there any provision in SAP to do costing in such type of scenarios.

Planned Independant Requirement by Customer and Material

Is there a way to input the Planned Independant requestments by Customer and Material? So far, what I know is that it can be done by product or product group. Pls advise.

Thanks for the info.
What I am trying to do is to input customer forecast by material and customer. This is to enable me to compare the customer forecast and actual orders by customers in the future rather than just by material. This is so I will know whether the particular customer actually ordered what they have forecasted. I have tried using info structures but it is too difficult and not feasible for the particular case. Is there any standard SAP functionality that can do this since based on what you said PIR is not possible.

Production Order for a material without BOM and Routing

Is it possible to create a production order for a given material without routing and BOM, I know we can
create a production order for a material without a BOM (with a default routing) just wanted to check with
the above criteria
