SAP Portal Drive store Password

Hello Portal Experts,
in the configuration of Portal Drive Connections there is a Option to preset username and Password. Yet the Password field ist grayed out.
Is this done by a Windows Security Setting ?   How can I preset the Password ?
BR Matthias

Timothy,
My first port-of-call would be to find out why the OPTIONS request does not include the content-type field in the HTTP header (it's a violation of spec: <a href="http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec9.html">HTTP/1.1: Method Definitions</a>).
I'd imagine that the reqest is being rejected by TAM because it needs to know the content-type to determine what to do with it...

Peter.

  • Is there a 64 bit SAP Portal Drive Client?

We are upgrading the enterprise to Windows 7 x64.  Our current client installs.  But, will not open.  I'm reading that it will only work on a 32 bit OS.  I find it hard to believe that a large company like SAP wouldn't already have a 64 bit version of this client to give to large customers like our company.  So, is there a 64 bit client?  Or is there a workaround?  Thanks!
Going to a 32 bit OS is not a possible solution.

I had same problem and it was solved...
    1- Set BasicAuthLevel's value to "2"  by expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SYSTEM>>CurrentControlSet>>Services>>webClient>>Parameters
    2- Restart your computer.
3- Right click "Computer" and click "Map network drive..."
To Letter Field: Set a free drive letter.
To Folder Field: Assume that your webDav address is http://abc.com:50000/irj/go/km/docs/ change it to
    abc.com:50000\irj\go\km\docs\
4- Enter your ID an Password
    thats all...
Note: The mapping is as follows:
    0 - Basic authentication disabled
1 - Basic authentication enabled for SSL shares only
2 or greater - Basic authentication enabled for SSL shares and for non-SSL shares

  • Portal Drive  - Logging Options

    Hi,

    Hi Sybille,
the Disk Cleanup Tool in Windows. But this tool has a problem with a path with more than 255 chars.
Hm, I never had such a problem, but as I'm just using some small test content on my local server, maybe I don't have paths which are that long...
CLEAR CACHED FILES under options in Portal Drive Client. After that I could execute the tool.
That should be o.k. what´s your opinion?
Yes, that sounds like almost better than a workaround, almost a "solution", if your users can live with the cache cleaned when they want to clean up their drive. And if they want to clean their drive, probably cleaning this cache, too, makes absolutely sense...

  • Portal Drive Cache

    Hi All,
I have a question about the portal drive cache.
Portal Drive is a web dav client to connect to your portal content with the windows explorer.
My problem ist that Portal Drive stores cached data on the c:\-drive, in my environment
    it is C:\Documents and Settings\tfelp4\Local Settings\Application Data\Xythos\cache.
My requirement is to store the cached files on another drive like d:\, because the c-drive is already full and only
    used for storing pinstallation files.
    Thanks for helping me

    Any ideas so far??
    Thanks in advance

  • Portal Drive and MS Outlook Integration

    Hi,
I have installed the SAP Portal Drive Client on my PC.
It works pretty well. I have observed something that I have not been able to find information on in any documentation.
When I start MS Outlook now (thick client) there is an additional option under the Tools menu in Outlook titled "Portal Drive Intellittach" which is greyed out (inactive).
It appears as though some integration between SAP's Portal Drive and MS Outlook may be possible - does anyone have any information on this please?
    Cheers, Phil G.
Message was edited by: Phil Gleadhill
Update May 29th. I received the following information from SAP Germany Product Management for those interested...
Ad 1. As Portal Drive basically is an enhanced WebDAV client and the official WebDAV protocol (www.webdav.org) doesn't support the exchange of metadata schema information there's currently no way for the client to detect that some properties are mandatory or even enforce the entry. That's why our member of the WebDAV working group already posted an RFC for the WebDAV protocol addressing this issue.
Ad 2. The deactivated "Portal Drive Intellitach" command just hasn't been removed from the Outlook UI yet. It's meant to support the exchange of document links instead of document attachments. As this functionality is directly supported by KM, specific FlexUI commands and the context menu of Portal Drive ("Copy URL to clipboard") it's obsolete now.
We also plan to enhance some features and add new functionality, but I can't give you any details right now as final decisions haven't been made. I hope this clarified some things concerning Portal Drive.
    Cheers, Phil G.

    Hi,
For this you required transaction code scot , where you need to maintain IP address of outlook server.
then mail to vendor automatically triggred also you need to open some port for the same of server.

    Hi Scott,
What version of Portal Drive are you attempting to install? Also, what desktop O/S are you using?
We are in the process of going to Windows 7 for our desktop, and we are having issues getting Portal Drive 4.4.6317.17 to work with it. I just submitted an OSS message on it.

  • Reg: The portal Drive

    Dear All,
How canto use the portal drive in portal knowledge management? What are the advantages? How we have to configure the portal Drive in KM?Is any limitations for portal drive?
    Regards,
    Praveen

    Dear Praveen,
The SAP Portal Drive only adds a KM repository as a WebDav-folder to your Windows-Explorer so you can access it like your normal filesystem.
So you can copy and edit documents like you know it from the Windows world.
But please keep in mind that you only backup the file as it is, not any KM statistics, settings or user permissions of the file.
So if you have to rebuild the repository you can upload the files from your backup again, but you have to reassign all settings too.

  • R/3 Secure Store and Forward, while using SAP portal for SSO

    Hello,
We are using SAP Portal UME for authentication, then SAP SSO tickets to log into the SAP R/3 system.  Initially we decided that the end users would have a "disabled password" so that they must use the portal authentication mechanism to get into R/3 and therefore could not log in straight to R/3 system via SAP GUI.
All was working fine until during integration testing when someone tried to use the electronic signature function on a QM t-code (QA11) that prompted for an e-sig.  Since local passwords have been disabled, the user could not execute the e-sig.
We do not want to activate local R/3 passwords for the users.  Can anyone give some advice or a best practice regarding how to set up electronic sigs in R/3 while using an external authentication source? FYI, we are also trying to avoid using the LDAP connector from R/3 to our LDAP.
Please comment for any clarity needed or comments,
    Thanks in advance,
    Ryan

Good point - but I'm afraid of not knowning an instant answer.
Well, theoretically one could make use of the fact that an NWAS ABAP can act as http client (submitting http requests to the NWAS Java to validate logon data); but that's just a rough idea.

  • SAP  Portal  unable to recognize  AD requirement to change initial password

    Hi,
We configured Active Directory server (2008 R2) as UME for SAP Portal (Netweaver 7.01  SP7).  We matched as many of the security parameters as possible* (ex.  minimum password length, require one number in password, etc.).  The AD parameter "User must change password at Next logon" is set ON.  However, upon attempt to login to SAP Portal with the initial password that was set in AD we are not prompted to change the password.  Rather, the SAP Portal logon attempt fails with message:  "Authentication Denied"
Has anyone dealt with this problem before?
    Other information:
*Our MarketPlace researched indicated that the SAP Portal parameter "ume.ldap.security_policy.password_change_required" (which would correspond to the AD parameter mentioned above) is no longer an available parameter for our SAP Portal version (Netweaver 7.01  SP7).
In our version of SAP Portal, the AD parameter "User must change password at Next logon" has one parameter which is similar, but does not directly correspond.  The SAP Portal parameter which we do have is "No password change required".  Notice this is the logical opposite of the AD parameter:  AD says to require the password, whereas SAP Portal says it's NOT required.  Therefore, when the AD parameter is set to ON, this results in the Portal parameter being set to OFF.  Even still, we face the login failure.

You have to note here that implementing SAP IDM is only ONE of the possible options you have. The implementation of IDM in itself is a huge undertaking because of the number of systems and the decision making process involved with it.
In one of my previous implementations, when SAP IDM was not around, we had Tivoli Access Management tools which took care of the password problems.
even though we implement IDM and deploy IDM UI on Portal , still user should change password before it expires on AD right ?
Even with IDM in place, user will not be able to login to SAP portal with an expired AD password. However, in our case, we provide a link on the logon page of SAP portal to the IDM password self service application which will allow the user to change the password.
Does IDM has any feature like sending notifications before password expiration period ?
I don't think it does - however I have not explored this option in IDM since most of our users do not have email addresses and we cannot send a reminder. You should be able to create a task (with some customization) in IDM to achieve this.
Also will the IDM implementation help us in creating users with option "User should change password at next logon" on AD ?
Yes - IDM does create users with option "User should change password at next logon" in AD.
With IDM in place and tied to AD, it should be the central place of creating users. It is recommended NOT to create or manipulate the users in any target systems (SAP, AD, etc). IDM should be taking care of all the user provisioning activities.
is this like a work around to allow users to change password from Portal before it gets expired on Active Directory(AD) ?
This is not a work around - it is rather a full blown identity management solution for all your company needs.
You will get a lot of your IDM specific questions answered in the Identity Management forum.
    Thanks,
    Shanti

  • Portal Drive

    Hi,
as you might know, Netweaver Portal Drive (a WebDAV Windows Client that mounts KM drives as real windows drives, so <b>all</b> applications can work with documents stored in the portal...) is available from the SAP Market Place since October 1st. It works with NW04 SPS14 and above. You might be interested in first experiences, reported in Praveen Mayalurs weblog https://weblogs.sdn.sap.com/pub/wlg/2541. When you enter in this link:

I could download this software using the same user and password that I am using to login in sdn.
If you want, I can send you this software, from my business card you can get my email address.
