I would like to get a template document to design the SAP portal strategy. Is there a document which lists the areas to be considered while designing the portal strategy? Are there any best practices which SAP suggests in this area ?

SAP Portal Display Documents is hanging with Null Pointer Exception

Hi I am having problems with an iview from the products section of SAP standard iviews
In my portal page I have the following three iviews, find documents, display master data and display documents both the find docs and display master data work great, but the display documents seems to hang and a java Null Pointer Exception shows in the data frame of IE. It hangs up the whole page and I have to keep hitting back button to close the window and open. I have the following in config for web front end
DOC_OBJ is mapped to DOKAR, DOKNR, DOKVR and DOKTL with default set.
DOC_REQ is set to DOKAR default checked
EQUI_REQ is set to EQUI-EQUNR default checked
This is under SIMG_SPORT -> products -> select data fields for web front end
Am I missing something?

The following code is your problem:

}Constructors don't return anything including void. Therefore you really aren't calling the above method as you assume in your main method as it is not a constructor. Remove the void keyword and your initializing code will execute properly.

Rating Documents SAP Portal

Hi All, I finish installation the SAP Portal NW2004s with SPS11, and have a issue with the Rating Documents in KM, don't have availability these option.
What do you need configure for have available these option?

Create SSO on SAP portal to ECC 6.0 EHP4 backend

Hello,
I want to create a SSO connection form my SAP Portal server to my ECC 6.0 EHP4 Backend system.
My JAVA Portal is installed on the same system as the ECC 6.0 backend system.
For the configuration I follow the steps as described in the document: http://www.sap-img.com/basis/configure-the-sso-single-sign-on-for-portal.htm.
At point 5.3 I have to set the Backend System as "ACL" in the Portal. So Iu2019m still in the Visual administrator from point 5.2 but now I go to the path Server --> Services --> Security Provider --> Ticket.
Here I choose the authentication tab and want to add the com.sap.security.core.server.jass.EvaluateTicketLoginModule. Buth when I press the Add button I get a list of available login members. In this list there is no com.sap.security.core.server.jass.EvaluateTicketLoginModule login module available. Does someone know what Iu2019m doing wrong or how I could add the correct login module?

So If I am on the "Authentication" tab I press the Add new button
In the list which shows up I select the u201CEvaluateTicketLoginModuleu201D
Here I change the name and option value to trustedsys01=<PORTAL_SID>, <PORTAL_CLIENT>

Help with Apache Reverse Proxy configuration with SAP Portal and SAP Webgui

Dear Experts,
I have an issue configuring Apache to work with SAP Portal and ERP webgui. Accessing Portal through Reverse Proxy is working fine. But the problem arises when we try to open an iView ERP webgui transaction page from Portal with the Reverse Proxy. Generate SAP Portal URL in ABAP

Hi all
I am faced with a task that involves fetching data from SAP E-Recruiting, and presenting it in an XML document which is indexed by a search engine. The data I extract from E-Recruiting, will be used to display a short listing of available positions in the company on an internal website.
I am able to extract the data, and present it in XML, but the following is a bit more difficult for me.
The challenge is this:
For each position I exctract from E-Recruiting, I need to find a way to generate a complete "portal style" URL. This URL will take users browsing the website, to the E-Recruiting job advertisement in the SAP portal. The SAP Portal will display the complete E-recruiting job advertisement, when the users click a "Read more" link in the short listing.
An example URL is this:
http://server:port/sap(bD1lbiZjPTUwOCZkPW1pbg==)/bc/bsp/sap/hrrcf_req_dovr/application.do?BspClient=508&BspLanguage=EN&rcfSpID=0003&PARAM=UE9TVF9IUk9CSkVDVD0wMU5DNTAwMDExNTQ%3d
I need to do this in "regular" ABAP / ABAP OO programming, not BSP or something like that. Is there some function module that will do this for me? I collect all my information from the tables HRP51* (i.e. HRP5122).

its a bsp url.
if you want to generate bsp url you can use the following method from your abap program
DATA: params TYPE tihttpnvp.
FIELD-SYMBOLS: <wa_params> LIKE LINE OF params.
fill params table with other url parameters you want
like BspClient=508
APPEND INITIAL LINE TO params ASSIGNING <wa_params>.
 <wa_params>-name = 'BspClient'.
 <wa_params>-value = '508' .
CALL METHOD
 cl_http_ext_webapp=>create_url_for_bsp_application
 EXPORTING
 bsp_application = 'HRRCF_REQ_DOVR'
 bsp_start_page = 'application.do'
 bsp_start_parameters = params " other url params
 IMPORTING
 local_url = url.
if this bsp is running inside portal as an bspiview and you want to reach this iview directly from a url then the url is different , it is basically the path of the iview in the Portal Content Directory

I'm just trying to create a simple servlet in Eclipse using SAP Portal Plugin but I couldn't find any document.
I have an eclipse 2.1
EP6 SP2 patch 5
SAP Portal Plugin
I created a Portal Application Project.
I created a simple servlet and save it under src.core directory.
My question is as follow:
1) Which directory I should put in the file web.xml?
2) Do I export this as *.par file?
3) When I export it. Can I just call the servlet from the url?

Hi,
Portal plugin is used for developing SAP Portal applications ie Java iviews.
There is a set of procedures to develop Java iViews . You can develop either AbstractPortalComponent which is more or less equivalent of servlet in ordinary java world or JSPDynPage which is equivalent of JSP.
These plugins are used to develop any of the above portal components. If you are developing java applications for portal then you have to develop either of the above using the tools. These portlets( portal applications runs on Portal run time)
But servlets can run on J2EE itself.
But if your requirement is to develop servlet then you can create ordinary java project and deploy that in the J2EE server as like in any app server.

I must to deploy the "com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead.par" from Portal 7.0 to Portal 7.30
I'm doing the following steps:
- Convert .par to .ear
- Import .ear to NWDS 7.30
- Deployment perspective > Import > File System > com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead.ear > Start

Thanks so much for your reply. Regarding "Create Portal Archive (EAR File)" everything is understood, thanks! In NWDS 7.3 everything must be deployed via .ear file
Regarding the libs... yes, of course I know I compile the sources against some libs Then, I'm gonna type it an example:
- NWDS 7.0 > import com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead.par
Everything is ok and working. Now, the same in 7.3:
- NWDS 7.30 > import com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead.par > LogInRedirect.jsp > exactly the same code as NWDS 7.0 (of course), but with errors in lines:
<%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.navigation.*" %> >>> The import com.sapportals.portal.navigation cannot be resolved
<%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.prt.runtime.PortalRuntime" %> >>> this is resolved correctly into SAP_EP\resources\prtapi.jar
I understand I must to add the corresponding libs for "com.sapportals.portal.navigation.*" to be used... but how I could know which one and where is located? I hope I'm explaining myself clear...

Is the system being used internally only or do you plan to expose it to the Internet? Based on my past experience I would focus on architecture design, security including vulnerability scanning, performance, interoperability (especially different browsers and browser versions) and usability (neither the BSP nor the WDA UI is that user friendly). Of course if the system is used only internally, the involved effort is smaller.
