I am getting below error on a new installation of SAP PPM 5.0, project management tab
Parameter NOMENU is not supported in SAP Portfolio and Project Management 5.0.

Estimating SAP PPM implementation

Dear community,
I am involved in a project evaluation for a SAP PPM 5.0 implementation.
The goal and first step is to use Resource Management from SAP PPM 5.0.
Besides all the information I am able to gather within the marketplace and SCN, I can't get a feeling what time is needed to implement PPM for the use of resource management.
So far we can estimate our time/costs for:
Technical installations of hardware and software
SAP Licences
Where we miss a feeling for the time/costs are:
Basis configuration following the master and configuration guides
Advanced customizing for project creation, project roles, tasks, etc.
Integrating of already customized and prepared components/applications like CATS
I would appreciate your experiences and questions-need-to-be-asked of any kind related to my request.
SAP PPM 6.0 is not an option yet, still I like to consider any pitfalls if we would upgrade to 6.0 in a later point in time.

Hello Darijo,
a) I guess so, but you should know that Resource Management is based on Business Partners. And usually, these are maintained in the HR system, although you can manually create them using T-code BP. For test purposes in a DEV/QA system it should be alright if you create them manually. But if you later do this in the productive system, you might have some errors on the long run.
b) Yes, Portfolio is a separate "object", so you can leave it out.
c) In my case, the company has a very specific product engineering process which was previously supported by 7 (yes, seven) different tools. They wanted to merge all these tools into one, having also extended features. So you can imagine they wanted quite a lot of changes, especially since we had to migrate the existing data.
Normally, it is recommended to keep the standard as much as possible, although not everything can be achieved by customizing.
d) Well, CA-TS can be integrated with PS/PM/HR/CO/MM. These are the standard possibilities. Other than that, I guess you can integrate it with whatever, but you'll have to create and maintain this yourself. We use PS mainly for cost calculations...
PPM (at least the cProjects) was designed to integrate closely with PS.
e) There isn't a lot of documentation you can find. So you'll have to figure it out yourself. I suggest you also read this book (even though is not that technical).
By the way, we also have some SAP consultants helping us with the implementation.

SAP System Message: Syntx error or generation error in a screen

dear sap basis gurus,
i am currently having problems signing on to our DEV server. i get this error message:

there were no changes made on the server (i.e., profile parameters) lately. it was working really fine after our support package level upgrade about 5 months ago.
have you encountered this problem before? please help me as there we have two imminent go-lives.

SAP B1ip detected an error : 403 Forbidden

Hello, I recently installed SAP B1 8.81 PL09, and the standalone B1 integration component. I followed the installation guide perfectly, and still receive an error whenever I try to use my dashboards, or open the integration framework.
I installed on my iPad app version 1.4.0.
When I try to connect to the server b1ic, with a sniffer http on port 8080 I get the following error :

Sap Archiving u0096 STO error on version ECC 6.0

Hi experts. I take a long of time with this error and I hope that you can help me. Explain the program.
We have a archiving project of no standard objects. This objects run on Sap version 4.6C, but now, on version ECC 6.0, the Store program give a execution error. The log of the STO Job on Sara transaction is the follow:

The Write and Delete programs runs correctly.
A strandar Archiving Object like FI_TCJ_DOC runs Ok (WRI, DEL and STO programs). The customazing for both objects are nearly on OAC0, FILE transactions. The changes are on Sap Directories. Write for you the most important customazing actions:

1) I proved the archiving from Sara with the Object ZIECI_RF02 with both customazings. The Stored program fail with logical file name = ZZA_ARCHIVE_DATA_FILE_ZIECI_RF02 and logical file name = ARCHIVE_DATA_FILE (Example at answer 2).

The issue we have is that "startsap" runs successfully, but then the server nodes go into a "Starting Applications" state and stay there. There seems to be an issue when starting up the irj application. If you want i can you the std_server<#> file if that helps.

SAP B1iP detected an error: 500 -internal server error

Hi expert,
I have an error message when I add new network location with http://<server ip address>:8080/B1iXcellerator/exec/dummy.
Error message is
" The folder you entered does not appear to be valid. Please choose another"
I have B18.8 PL15, B1iiSN 88 PL03 and windows 7 64 bits machine.
Also I've got error message as below when I enterd http://<server ip address>:8080/B1iXcellerator/exec/dummy address to internet exploere.

I've already used sapgenpse seclogin -p <PSE File> -x <PIN> to create a pin. I've also gone and deleted the old pin that used to be there and created a new one.
Also I noticed it says "Beware: changing a PIN of a PSE will not auto-update the SSO-credential
Beware: adding a new credential will not auto-update an existing credential"
So once you change it how do you update it? Do you need to reboot the Web Dispatcher or do you just need to restarted the service?

I am also facing same issue.
I have added credentials also and successfully done.

Information about SAP PPM needed

Dear Sir or Madam,
my name is Jennifer Fassbender and I am working in the “Project Management Office” (PMO) of the research and development department (R&D) of ERCO. Our group serves as a cut surface in between the R&D and to other departments all over the company. Our team is in charge of the PLP (product launch process) which is one the leading processes at ERCO.
Currently we are using the SAP PS in our ERP system to plan and control our product development projects which belong to the PLP. We are working on a lot of different projects simultaneously, which makes a multi-project management necessary. Therefore we are thinking about implementing SAP PPM.
In addition to my job I am studying industrial engineering in part time at the University of Applied Sciences in Hagen. Right now I am writing my bachelor’s thesis. To combine study and job, the content and aim of this thesis will be something like “Development of an operational scenario to use the tool SAP PPM regarding to the design of a multi-project management within the R&D department of the ERCO GmbH”.
And this is the reason I am writing to you. I need a lot of information about SAP PPM.
Could you please be so kind and help me with the following questions:
Can you describe the (biggest) difference between SAP PS and SAP PPM?
What might be the mayor reason to implement SAP PPM?

Can you describe the (biggest) difference between SAP PS and SAP PPM?
In PPM, there are 2 areas, PPM-Portfolio Management and PPM Project Management. SAP PS can be compared with PPM-Project Management.
PPM-Proj, Mgmt. is mainly used for certain types of projects like Consulting, development & IT projects and User interface(UI) is very simple and user-friendly in PPM.
PS can be used in any type of projects but its full capabilities are used in capital Investment, overhead costs & customer projects. And moreover SAP PS has very good tight integration with all modules of SAP.
Overall both has it's own pros and cons. More details can be found the below links.

1. SAP-PS --> Project Systems SAP ERP based Project Management tool. It is tightly integrated with SAP Core modules like MM,SD,FICO.
it is SAP GUI based just like other core modules. it is used in project oriented scenarios like EC&O, real estate, complex MTO scenarios.
2. SAP Resource and Portfolio Management (SAP- RPM) --> SAP Enterprise Portal based Resource and portfolio management tool, it is used to manage portfolio of multiple projects, proposals, initiatives. Its UI is SAP Enterprise portal and it is integrated with SAP cProjects/ SAP PS.
3, SAP Project Portfolio Management SAP-PPM)
Same as 2, but SAP is now using term PPM for next relelases of xRPM, SAP is coming up with SAP PPM 5.0 ,
current version in market is SAP RPM 4.5
4. cProjects - It is web based Project Management tool. It is used for simpler projects like IT Projects, R&D projects etc, which does not require very tight integration with SAP ERP core modules. cProjects is integrated to some extent with SAP PS & FI-CO

Portal Restart resolved the issue.

Not able to create item under initiative in SAP PPM thru SAP EP 7.3

We have deployed SAP BP for PPM on SAP EP for PPM. We have created successfully created initiative under the bucket.
Now we are trying to add item under the initiative but the SAP standard webdynpro ABAP application gives error.
Below are the steps we perform on portal:
Under Portfolio and Project Admin --> Portfolio Structure --> Select the bucket --> Select the initiative --> Add item
On the first instance it does not saves the item (no message displyed for Data Saved successfully), on second time click of Save it gives attached error:

I think in the first instance it has saved the item and when you tried second time, item ID is conflicting. So change the item id and check.
At the same time, check whether the item id-11 is linked to initiative after the first instance of save.
