SAP Production Systems Database backup failed

Dear Guru,
I have been facing a problem with our SAP Production system's oracle database backup for last three days. Our back up goes through TSM server. At night 10 pm we have schedule backup for whole offline + redo log backup,  11 pm check and update optimizer statistic and at 11:30 pm Check Database. For last three days above mentioned backup getting failed and we are not able to get such a details log by which i can understand the issue. But Our Development server and Quality server's backup which are scheduled at 12 am and 2 am, the both backup schedules finish successfully. And in morning all schedule backups of Production systems finish without any errors. The issues is coming only with Whole database backup + redo log Backup which schedule at night 10 pm. I have mentioned the log whatever i have got in below:
07.02.2012     07:30:06     Job started
07.02.2012     07:30:06     Job has exceeded its latest start date
07.02.2012     07:30:06     Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE
Above mentioned logs are showing 1day advance log where i have mentioned yesterdays log. That means it should shows 06.02.2012 instead of 07.02.2012 and time should be 22:00:00 instead of 07:20:06.
Our Oracle version is 10.2.0.4.0/ kernel release 701/BRBACKUP 7.00 (40)
Please Guide me.

Samrat Chakraborty

OK,
this has nothing to do with brbackup or TSM.
You batchjob starts at 07:30 !!!
Means before that, you do not have any action at all.
Then the job crosschecks it has passed its intended startdate and terminates,
which is correct, since you do not like brbackup to shut down your DB at 07:30!
No brbackup is started at all, which is why you get no log and no tsm connect takes place.
I assume,  you misconfigured some operationmodes and at 07:30 an OP-modeconfiguration
with batchjobs switches back in place so that the jobs do start too late.
Check RZ04 and the OP mode timetable
If it is not this, it has to be something else with the batch scheduler causing delay
or may be all BTC processes are busy, but this seems unlikely with a start at 07:30 sharp..

  • System Image Backup Failed During Backup

I have a 2 year old HP pavilion g series notebook.  I was doing a system image backup onto dvd+r disks. It was nearly finished when on disk #99 I got this message "The Backup Failed. The system cannot find the path specified (0x80070003)
My computer is out of warranty and I'm out $60 in disks if they can't be used.  I need to know it there is a way to salvage what I saved and restart Image backup from where it left off?

I understand that you were doing an image backup and when it was nearly finished you received  the error (0x80070003).  Here is a link to a Microsoft answer to assist you. Windows backup error 0x80070003 ( Answered by Vinod N)
I am unsure if you would be able to start again and pick up on disk 99, as once you have repaired it, it will have changed from when you first ran the backup.  The disk you used were not read, writeable, so you would not be able to reuse them.  You may find that an external drive would be a more economical way to do your backups. The data would be in one place and easier to store.  If you decide to use a USB stick it must not be more then 32GB and will not say Windows 8 on it.
You can most likely purchase an External drive for about the cost of replacing the disks.  Here is a link to HP Shopping External storage , but you can purchase one at many places, computer shops, Staples,Walmart, and Office Depot are just a few.  I hope this helps.

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 System State Backup fails "the parameter is incorrect"

    Hi,
I'm having the same problem as I've found in a few other threads.

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsbackup/thread/0b0f2d9c-e3b1-4f85-a6d2-2e15e5a15bc1
I've tried running the vshadow.exe -wm2 > out.txt command and searching the output for invalid paths, but I can't seem to find any paths that looks incorrect.
I've also done a registry search under HKLM\CurrentControlSet\Services for the / character and didn't come up with any in any paths either.
The server is a pretty new install. DC, DNS, DHCP, File and Print services. It has been running in production for about a week for a small business. Their previous server desperately needed changing over, so it got pushed in fairly quick. I never assumed
I would have had trouble with the system state backing up!. It would be nice to get it working so I can sleep at night :). The old DC is still running, so all is not lost in a failure, but still... I guess also once I've demoted the old DC, I can restore AD
just by restoring the entire system image (Don't have to worry about USN sync if only single DC), but I would still like a system state backup.
    Thanks, Ryan

  • System Image Backup failing when trying to write to a Drobo 5N NAS

I'm trying to make a full system image through file history, and I get part way through the process until I get the following error:
    The backup failed.
There was a failure in preparing the backup image of one of the volumes in the backup set. (0x807800C5)
    Additional information:
The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file. (0x80070021)
I've found one other thread where this was an issue and the user said that he had no issues doing it to a USB drive, so I'm assuming it's related to using a network one. I can run file history/recovery (whatever it's called) to the same network attached
server in the same parent folder so I know it's not a permission issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
In order to know whethr this issue is related with the speicfic NAS, I suggest you try to backup the image to another external drive and check if the error persists.
Actually, according to the error message, it seems more related with the files which need to be backed up, it is locked\unaccessable. I recommend you temporarily turn off any anti-virus program protection. Stop other running processes including background
processes, then try to backup again, test the result.

  • SAP Production system - SDK Dev New licence key components

I like to request a new license key for SAP B1 production system.  What should be the components along with SDK Development that i should select in the license key request information?
Is it mandatory to have at least one professional user license in the Development system?
    Thanks
    SV Reddy

Hi David,  thanks for the reply
I heard that instead of using atleast one professional user license for development system we can also use a limited user license to access the internal objects in SAP Business One system.  But I am not sure whether this will work and also the concept of limited user license is specific to each individual modules within the Business one system.i.e. limtied CRM user license, limited Finance user license.  if we use these licenses obviously we have limited access to the objects in the Business One system.  am i right?  ,  please let me know that these limited user licenses will come along with the package of licensing or do we need to purchase them separately?

  • Windows 2012 System State Backup Fails

We have a Windows 2012 Domain Controller VM that we would like to backup the System State using DPM. Agent has been installed and the Windows Backup has been added.
When the backup runs in DPM, the job fails. Here is the error code:
DPM cannot create a backup because Windows Server Backup (WSB) on the protected computer encountered an error (WSB Event ID: 517, WSB Error Code:  0x12363C0). (ID 30229 Details: Internal error code: 0x80990ED0)
When we try and create the backup using Windows Backup, the following error is in the log file:
following error code '0x807800C5' (There was a failure in preparing the backup image of one of the volumes in the backup set.). Please review the event details for a solution, and then rerun the backup operation once the issue is resolved.
We have tried attaching a separate drive and backup to a shared location. Both fail.
We have tried backup of just a few files on the DC instead of the System State, this fails as well.
All VSS Writers show as Stable with no errors
    Server has the latest updates
Server has been rebooted, same issue
VM is Windows 2012 on a Windows 2008 R2 clustered host and is using Dynamic Disks (not fixed disks).
Anyone have any thoughts on what could be going on?

    Hi,
If any of the following are true, you will not be able to backup a system state to that volume.
    • Make sure that the target volume has no shadow copy before the backup starts.
    • If a system state backup is stored on a source volume, backup settings should be configured for full backups. By default, settings are configured for full backups.
    • Periodically check that no other user or program maintains a shadow copy on the target volume.
    • Do not keep volume level backups and system state backups in the same location.
    • The volume used to store the system state backup needs twice the amount of free space as the size of the system state backup until the backup completes
Meanwhile please check if it is caused that you are backing up to a critical drive. Try modify the following key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wbengine\SystemStateBackup\
Set the value of this entry as follows:
    Name: AllowSSBToAnyVolume
    Data type: DWORD
    Value data: 1

  • SAP SQL System Copy backup restore method with ADS(Adobe document services)

    Hello all,
i´m preparing a system copy with ERP 6.0 in windows and SQL server with ADS.
I have a doubt, can i do the System Copy backup/restore method with ADS??
or the only method that works is with system export/import in all instances??
    Thank you

    Hi Oscar,
Is your ADS system separate from your ERP system, or are they on the same server?
In any case, you can use backup/restore to copy a Java system, but you must also make a system export/import for the Java server components.  The two work in conjunction, so that the export tool doesn't export your whole database, only the components maintained in the filesystem.  If you select the database detach/attach or backup/restore method in the tool when going against the Java system, it will prompt you at the right point in the process to make your Java export as well.
The caveat is that the Java export requires downtime, so it isn't possible to copy a Java system without impacting system availability, as it is with a pure ABAP system.
    Best regards,
    Matt

    Hi,
Error 2 means system cannot find the file specified. Can you make sure about location of master database file.
    plus
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Release>SETUP /QUIET /
    ACTION=REBUILDDATABASE /INSTANCENAME=CORPPLN /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS=xxxxxx /SAPWD
    =xxxxxx
In above query why are you going to release folder you must go to SQL Server 2008 r2 folder
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\SQLServer2008R2
I guess script should be like
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\SQLServer2008R2>SETUP /QUIET /
    ACTION=REBUILDDATABASE /INSTANCENAME=CORPPLN /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS=xxxxxx /SAPWD

Setup.exe is in SQLServer 2008 r2 folder not in release folder

  • MSDN article KB955078 - System state backups failing in MSCS environment

    Hello,
We have a an MSCS cluster running on Windows 2008 with SQL server 2008.
When we run a system state backup on the Passive node we get the error mentioned in Microsoft article KB955078 because of the SAP executables installed onto one of the shared disks.
Has anyone else encountered this and if so what did you do to resolve it?
Symantec have suggested we install the SAP executables on a local disk but if we do that then the cluster won't really work smoothly because the ASCS instance willl have to shut down. I'm not even convinced SAP would support this kind of install.
    Any suggestions welcomed.
    Regards
    Garry Bayford

    Hi Garry!
Possibly, as SAPinst installs the binaries on the shared drive in the cluster, those binaries will be listed as protected binaries.
The fact is that, neither in Windows Server 2003 nor in 2008 you can access a shared drive that is attached in one node from any other node in the same cluster, in a similar way that you cannot access a local drive of a computer from another computer. So the message is obvious: "the files (and the path) do not exist", as the drive indicated "do not exist" in the passive node.
In any case, if you want to access the SAP folders from the passive node you can do it without any troubles through the virtual network address associated to the SAP cluster group by means of the SAPMNT resource, i.e.
    sapmnt.
This is what you should do if you want to backup any files. However I do not think that it is necessary to constantly back up the SAP binaries, as these do not change at all, until the moment that you update the kernel (and so, you can take a backup of the binaries just at that moment).
I hope that this sheds some light into your concern. Cheers!

I would like to know is it possible to achieve same as max write speed of LTO 5 in 140 MBPS, if we consider the are getting max throughput rate then too it should take around 3 hr 40 Min.
If it is possible then it would be grateful if someone can explain how.

    Hi Mitt,
You may refer the details shared under thread Full Database Backup in DB13 for MS SQL Server ... | SCN on configuration of backups using db13 for MSSQL.
What it comes to my mind is ..
    1) Can you check whether you have SSDs configured for the database
    2) What is the Tape write speed.
Note: SSD disks can drastically improve the backup times as it has excellent read/write performance over SAS disk.

  • System database Backups

Should I backup my system databases?

The answer is "yes" for master, model and msdb.
The answer is "no" for tempdb and the resource database.
I usually do my system databases daily, same job as the other databases' full backup.
