  • De-link PPM Item with SAP Project

    Hello,
Can somebdoy throw a light on what to do in case I want to de-link a PPM-item with SAP project. This situation may rise if I want to change the project actuals going to bucket A to bucket B.As I can not change the relationship of an item with the bucket, I am looking for alternate solution where I can de-link SAP Project with SAP PPM item.
    thank you!
    Regards,
    Mahendra

    Hi Mahendra
If you are meaning to de-link a PS Project from a PPM Item, you can from the Item navigate to the 'Relationships' tab and then on the 'object links'sub-tab select and delete the assignment:
You can also remove a cProject relationship by clicking the 'Related Objects' sub-tab
Your comment that you cannot move an Item to a new Bucket - is this because your business process does not allow you to do so? Because this is definitely possible in the system.
Let me know if you have any further questions as I am not sure I have addressed your question

  • Field 'Goods Receipt / Performance of Service' in 'Related Documents' Tab of PO Item in SRM

    Hi Gurus,
I have a requirement where I need to make 'Goods Receipt / Performance of Service' in 'Related Documents' Tab as non-editable based on certain fields on the PO Item.
On searching SDN, I found that this can be done via SPRO in the below path SPRO->SRM Server->Cross application basic settings->Extension and field Control -> Configure field control -> configure control for fields at item level.
But here in this I am finding difficulty on using the Dyn. Customer Class and method.
Please help us on how to find the relevant standard CLass and Method.
I am new to SRM Programming.
    Appreciate your inputs on this.

    Hello,
    have a look at SPRO:
SAP Implementation Guide > SAP Supplier Relationship Management > SRM Server > Cross-Application Basic Settings > Extensions and Field Control (Personalization) > Configure Field Control > Display Standard Metadata Tables for Item Fields > Display Delivered Metadata Table for Item Fields.
Here, for object type BUS2201, you can see standard dynamic control class name is /SAPSRM/CL_PDO_DYN_MDF_IT_PO.
You need to do your own field control configuration using specific class and method based on the standard one seen above.
    Then, assign this class/method:
SAP Implementation Guide > SAP Supplier Relationship Management > SRM Server > Cross-Application Basic Settings > Extensions and Field Control (Personalization) > Configure Field Control > Configure Control for Fields on Item Level > Metadata for Fields on Item Level.
    Regards.
    Laurent.

  • I have used SAP doc mgmt for years. We copied a client and now when I configure a Class to my DMS DIR and go to CV01n Additional Data NONE of the characteristic entry boxes show up. Additional Data is blank.

I have used SAP doc mgmt for years. We copied a client and now when I configure a Class to my DMS DIR and go to CV01n Additional Data NONE of the characteristic entry boxes show up. Additional Data is blank.
It appears there must be some high level setting missing in the client. I have checked all authorizations and cannot find a difference between this client and all of the other clients we have. Only this one client does not show the class characteristics in the Additional Data tab.
Any ideas of why this standard function is not working). It does not matter which DIR I config the 017 class to, nothing shows on Additional Data.

    Hi,
The issue is resolved. We are working in a sandbox with Class configuration on a DMS issue related to standard class 017. There are no standard settings in SPRO - Cross-Application Components | Maintain Object Types and Class Types | for the object type DRAW that will allow "auto-populating" characteristic values as we do with VC class 300.
For whatever reason DRAW and class 017 are not configured by SAP in the same manner as class 300 for example.
We made a config entry for DRAW Class 017 VBAP. Let's just say the system did not like that.
    We are exploring other options.

  • How can I get the "Full cycle SAP project experience"?

    Hi,experts
I'm a beginner of PI and familar with java, now i have got good acquaintence of PI architecture and familiar with ESR and ID in PI,but now i'm confused with the development aspect of PI expert...one thing is that full cycle sap project experience is a must, but how can i get that while i just always repeating the boring creation of PI objects and do the mapping, routing tasks etc...

    Hi Rajesh,
If you started working with new implementation project then you will get a chnace to involve in all phases like Blue printing, analysys, realization, development testing.
Creation of obejcts in ESR or ID its not a big deal, but when you are working with complex landscape then you feel to elanr and many newthing in PI how to achieve the requirement using Writing some good UDF and using node function ...Adapter Modules or JAVA Mapping or XSLT Mappings..and many.
When you get in to SAP PI project, when you started development first you will start analysing the functional document and then you will start preparing techincal specification, then mapping specification then development,testing..these all tasks happend in pahse by phase.after completion of development then you wl tesing the interfaces ,preparing test cases...
we can say full lide cycle implemenattion prijects invloves above all tasks.

  • Identifying related documents

    Hey everyone,
Iu2019m a PhD student working at the VLBA-Lab Magdeburg and Iu2019m researching approaches to identify related documents. Some of these newly researched approaches are sophisticated citation analysis approaches, collaborative document evaluation, classical data mining and document usage mining.
The objective is to develop powerful approaches to identify related documents and to implement them in a document recommender system prototype, which has the potential to expand the functionality of SAP products such as Enterprise Search (TREX). Now Iu2019m looking for further possible application fields. For example clustering similar messages/emails or identifying similar posts in discussion boards like this one.
If you have any ideas please post them here so that we can discuss them.
Looking forward to hearing your ideas,
    Bela

    Hi Bela!
I read some publications about personalized supply of information. The contribution is about Data Warehousing, unstructured data (clustering etc.) and the evaluation of classification methods.
Perhaps you'll find there some new inspiration and new fields of application.
Take a closer look at the habilitation thesis of Prof. Dr. Carsten Felden (Personalisierung der Informationsversorgung im Unternehmen, DUV).
    All the best.

  • Why SAP Projects Fails??

Hello abapers, right now i'm writing a paper for the company that i work, this paper it's related with SAP Projects, i would be so glad if you let me hear your comments about What are the reason that you think that makes SAP Projects Fails? It an IT related stuff.
I want collect all your comments based on your experience implanting SAP Projects. This is important to me because a will see closer the common problem around the world and will not localized my paper use only issues that i may know.
    Regards,
    Carlos.

    Hi Carlos,
You have touched upon a major topic here and I am not sure if you can ever close this post. But let me give it a try. Let me try to put it into perpective by discussing the topic following the project lifecycle.
Now any ERP implementation starts with a requirement at the top level to refine their IT landscape to better support the business. Then you go out to search for the best tool to do that. That can be your first point of failure, if you don't identify the right fit(ERP software) for your organization. I was on a SAP project where they thought SAP is the best fit for their business, but 6 months into the project, they realized that even though SAP is the best ERP software around, it didn't fit their needs. They scrapped the project and went for custom development in Oracle.
Then comes your choice of the implementation partner. A big implementation like an ERP implementation cannot be completely sourced with inhouse resources. You meed a implementation partner who has the experience to steer you though the implementation and make it successful. Now this is not specific to SAP, but with SAP you have to be even more careful on this aspect because of the costs and time involved.
Once you have identified SAP as the tool and identified your implementation partner, you then venture into the identification of implementation team from your organization. Depending on which modules you are implementing, you want to identify teams that have a very healthy mix of business knowledge, experience in specific areas of the company's business functions, technical expertise that can easily adopt and learn new software quickly. If your team is not chosen wisely then there will be a makor gap between the requirements and their translation into implementation.
Defining the scope of the project is also important. By doing this, you will identify which processes you will implement in SAP and as a result which applications you will replace with SAP and which applications you will interface with SAP. If you fail to correctly identify this, then the project will fail.
An ERP implementation means a lot of change and that means all your end users, your implementation team, your management and basically everyone should be ready for it. This involves a major investment(not necessarily monetary) in change management. There will be a change in the way you do things and everyone should be ready for it. If they are not, then there will be a failure in effective use of the tool thus effecting its utility to the organization and the productivity of the employee.
After you are past the requirements phase and team preparation phase, you enter the design phase. The project can make or break depending on what happens in this phase. This is where the implementation team goes out to define the business processes, identify requirements and translate them into configuration and development specs etc. If any of the tasks here go wrong, then the final product will be a failure.
In the development phase, it can be any or all of the factors like lack of technical expertise, lack of usage of best practices, lack of standards, lack of supporting infrastructure etc.
Other factors include, support from top management and business process owners for the project(they should be the stakeholders in this), political aspects of the client place, integration requirements etc.
As Anand pointed you first need define 'failure'. In a project as big as an ERP/SAP implementation, a complete scrapping of the project can be a failure, or not completing the project on budget, on time could be a failure or not being able to deliver one specific critical functionality can be a failure. So as you can see, the definition of the failure itself can be so different for so many implementations.
Even though your question is specific to SAP, my answer is more generic and applicable to any large scale project. SAP inherently has no in-built faults that make a project a failure. As long as you keep all the above factors in control, you should have a successful project.
    Hope this discussion continues.

  • Limit View of Related Documents

Is there a way to prevent users from seeing the PO number under Related Documents that is generated on the SAP side if the PO is still on hold in SAP?
We are on SRM 7.0 and use the classic scenario.  Our process is that when free text orders are approved and transferred to SAP, the appropriate buyer will convert the requisition over into a PO and put it on hold.  That way, they can group all of  their orders together and place with the vendors.
    Monique

only when the PO is still on hold by the Purchasing Department (buyer) until it is actually saved. Is there any way to put that logic in to ignore incomplete PO's?
I wouldn't know how you realize "on hold by the Purchasing Department (buyer) until it is actually saved" technically. Maybe some indicator in table EKKO/EKPO? Your logic would have to read (through some RFC FM) across the system boundary for such indicator and determine if to show the PO number in "related document" list or not. You'd have to implement the logic according to your requirement. What I had suggested was the place to put in the logic. That would not eliminate the PO line from Related Document list, just that the PO number link would not be there.

  • METHODOLOGY of SAP Project

    Hi Friends,
What is the "METHODOLOGY of SAP Project". What are those.
    Plz gimme a detailed reply.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ram

It would be helpful to go through the help document of ASAP Methodology.
The following information may clarify some doubts/requirements you have.
Generating the Project IMG through ASAP:
After you have set the project scope, the next step is to generate the Project IMG. From the Business Process Master List (BPML), you can directly access the IMG activities relevant for configuring each process.
BPML: The Business Process Master List, along with the Business Blueprint, is a key result of the second phase of the Roadmap. Microsoft Excel tables contain the SAP scenarios, process groups, and processes that have been set in scope in the SAP Reference Structure, and are crucial for configuring your SAP System. In Realization, the third phase of the Roadmap, the BPML provides the basis for monitoring and steering test activities and for configuring your SAP System. It contains the titles of the structure items, and displays the status, the owner, links to documentation and links to the SAP System. Amongst other things, the BPML allows you to:
    1) Set your baseline and final scope. These are used for baseline and final configuration.
    2) Access the Project IMG and specific IMG activities assigned to structure items.
    3) Access integration test plans, which help you carry out all required integration tests.
The Prerequisite is you have set the project scope.
Process Flow to use the Business Blueprint as a basis for configuring your SAP System:
    1) Set the project scope.
    2) Generate the Project IMG.
    3) Generate the BPML.
    4) From a specific processes in the BPML, you can go to the relevant IMG activities and make Customizing settings.
rewards, if you are satisfied with the explaination...
