SAP - Public Sector can conquer the World!

Hi All,
I have a confidence that one day all Governments in the World should have SAP - Public Sector (Industry Solution).
For more information: SAP for Public Sector
Its great if you can express your views and possibilities on the above topic.
Regards,
Siva kumar.

Hi Siva kumar D,
as far as i concern , it would  be  great if it happens, but it has a cost of its own, because taking the
licence of sap and providing the end  user its training will be costlier, and i don't think  country like
india will do it for all of its concern, yes it may possible that those companies which are in highest money makers will get this advancements, probablly because any end user  more generally never
wants to change their way of working, because  they  have  to learn new thing ,   they have to adapt
new technoligies, that means they have to expose themselves in new technologies.
Now when they will work, certainly there wer many chnages of problem occurs in begining, and in
the industry sector, no one wants to take its responsibility itself.
So adapting a new technologies and working onto it, in govt. organisations are somewhat dficult
, as you can see ONGC works in sap , but most of the persons working for ONGC are from  third
party payroll.
So in my opinion, it would be a better advantage for sap professionals, if govt. sectors will deploy it
, because there will have plenty of  jobs in market, but adapting sap and providing sap training
and then working for those people, who are adhere in old methods of working is somewhat
difficult with respect to private sectors.

    > PSOBWORK Transaction( Create Contract object ) is not working   when we  installed PSCD .
I highly doubt that "not working" is something that can be solved here (no offense). Do you get dumps? Error messages?
    > Mostly all the transactions in PSCD  are  working except PSOBWORK .Can anyone please tell me  is there any other patches to be downloaded to solve this.
Since I still don't know what is "not working" I can't suggest anything. I could point to any note concerning this transaction. You can try search yourself using http://service.sap.com/notes using the term "PSOBWORK" if there's anything to fix your not-working transaction.
    Again - no offense.

    Dear  Expert
I would understand that SAP Public Sector - Business Process has the following key:
    Shared Services
    Human Capital Management
    Government Purchases
Formulation of Public Sector Accounting and Budget
    Social Services
    Social Security
    Government Programs
    Tax and Revenue Management
    Public Safety
    Organizational Management
    Organizational Support
For an implementation in SAP Public Sector, I found  several solutions are:
    - Solutions - SAP Business Suite
    - Software SAP Customer Relationship Management
    - Software ERP SAP
    - SAP Product Lifecycle Management
    - SAP Supply Chain Management
    - SAP Supplier Relationship Management
If we select SAP ERP Software. From the above processes. ¿Is it correct to have at least the formulation of Public Sector Accounting and implemented budget? or ¿Is it OK to implement all processes for the public sector? I'm  very confusing ...
Please,  could you explain SAP Procurement public sector solutions? or do you have a link on this advice?
    All recommendations are welcome.

  • SAP Procurement for Public Sector package

    Hi All,
does anyone have any useful info on what is actually included in the SAP Procurement for Public Sector package?
I've read the solution brief which is really general and doens't actually give any details.
What I'm after is to know which components of SRM are actually included in this licensing package?
    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
I'm part of the IBU for Public Sector, specializing in the SAP PPS Package.
    HIGH-LEVEL PACKAGE CONTENTS (a.k.a. BOM):
    - SAP SRM (current GA release based on 5.0; Q4 08 planned release is based on 7.0)
    - SAP Document Builder (current GA release v 2.0; Q4 08 planned release has v 3.0)
    - SAP NW Records Management/Case Management (rights to use for any procurement scenarios - HR, FI, other uses require additional licenses)
    - Enhancements to these components and SAP ERP 2005 that are known in the technical component list as Government Procurement 1.0 (in the current GA release) or Government Procurement 7.0 (in the Q4 08 release).
    COMPONENT EXPLANATIONS:
    - When we say "SAP SRM", generally we mean "the combined package of engines that were formerly sold as single components", including Strategic Sourcing, Bidding Engine, Auctions, MDM Catalog (only - not all MDM is included), etc.  Legally, I cannot say "all SRM components" because the list may be changed periodically, but I cannot think of a particular exception either.
    - SAP Document Builder is currently not sold separately.
    - SAP NetWeaver Records and Case Management are not the ones used in CRM - these are the standard delivered apps for Records and Case Management with SAP, used to accomplish several PPS scenarios.
    CLARIFICATIONS:
NOTE1: product PPS should NOT be referred to as "SAP Government Procurement", which is a retired product name. The term "Government Procurement" today only refers to the technical set of enhancements, and is an internal convention within SAP, so you won't see it referred to normally.
NOTE2: eSourcing is not the same as SRM. eSourcing is not part of PPS, and is not part of the license for PPS.  We do not recommend a customer to buy both eSourcing and PPS, since they address different needs and pains. e.g., PPS should be considered when integration with ERP is important.
NOTE3: ERP 6.0 is required for PPS customers, but SRM 'core' does not have that dependency.  It's too long to explain here, but suffice to say you wouldn't expect to be able to run an XBOX game on your 1986 Nintendo console.  We cannot run most new PPS functionality on older ERP releases for much of the same reason: we have been building new functionality as quickly as NetWeaver gave us the tools to do so.  If this stuff were easy it've been done by now - by SAP and our competitors.
However, rest assured ERP PRs (and SOs) can still start the process as well as SRM Shopping Carts and POs are replicated to ERP so follow-on GR/IR can be done in ERP.
Enhancements have been made to ERP 6.0 as well, including in the base release, and in EhP 3 and EhP 4 of ERP 6.0, which will be important with the Q4 08 PPS planned release, to enable signifcant new complex line item and pricing functionality and other features. And again - you can run Classic + Extended Classic using the Ext Classic BADI.
NOTE4: ERP 6.0 is not part of the PPS BOM and no ERP 6.0 rights are included.  Customers must have Business Suite or other ERP user licenses in conjunction.
NOTE5: Customers with SRM licenses today may convert their license to PPS. This is done on a case-by-case basis, so SRM customers in Public Sector are not required to migrate or convert - contact your SAP AE for details if you need more information.

In the US public sector organizations are expected to create Revenue and Expenditures statements and Balance Sheets by Fund. This is known as Fund Accounting. SAP supports this in the New GL with the tables FMGLFLEXT or PSGLFLEXT.

  • Organizational Structure for Public sector

    Hi Experts ,
I am in a public sector company ...would like to know is there any change in organizational sector ...can any one send me link or document  or template so that i can have a view of Standard SAP public sector org.structure ...so that i can check how all the elements in the organization like FI,MM,SD integrate into it .....
    Regards
    Albert .

You can also take a look at the Best Practices for Public Sector documentation. There you can find some preconfigured Business Scenarios with their corresponding structures. Currently the Best Practices released are based on Belgium. In a future more countries will follow.
    <a href="http://help.sap.com/bp_publicsectorv2600/PS_BE/HTML/index.htm">Best Practices for Public Sector BE</a>
    there you can browse into:
    Business Information --> Business Blueprint
    and also
    Business Information --> Preconfigured scenarios
although this is just a template may get you an idea of a working configuration for Public Sector. Details will actually be highly dependant on your country and PS organization.

  • Renaming /sap/public for BSP applications running on WAS 6.20?

/sap/PUBLIC is created by default on the 6.20 WAS, and BSP applications fetch mime objects from /sap/PUBLIC/bsp/sap/public -- is it possible to rename /sap/PUBLIC to something else, like /sap/MYPUBLIC?

An alias would probably work just as well. However, I'm not sure if it will solve the problem we're facing: we have a complex portal running behind a reverse-proxy. Through the portal users access applications on to WASs -- both of them have files referring to /sap/public/...
The problem is that since both are behind a reverse-proxy from the user's side all the requests are made to the same host, and the reverse-proxy has to figure out by looking at the URL to which server it should forward request. So in the case of the applications on the WAS it can't distinguish between one /sap/public and the other.
I'm no BSP programmer -- suppose an alias was created -- am I right to guess that all the references in the BSP files to /sap/public will need to be manually changes to /sap/<new alias>? or is there some way to do it automatically?
    Thanks,
    Alon.

  • Siebel Public Sector Features/Functionality

I'm looking for details on Oracle's latest "re-tooling" of Siebel's Public Sector solutions. The 8.0 data sheets are making a lot of claims that I would like to demonstrate to my clients, including:
National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) capabilities
    Docket Management
    e-filing support
    Case Closure and Disposition
I want to ensure that these are not just marketing buzzwords but real solutions.

  • Public Sector HRMS

Please came somebody give me a brief summary of the main differences between Public Sector HRMS and the core HRMS product.
Is the Public Sector HRMS product targeted at the US public sector market or is it useful for the UK too?
    Regards,
    Mark

    Mark,
I contacted the Sr. Development Director overseeing this product area and here is the official response to your question:
Public Sector functionality comes in two flavors:
    1. Global - items that apply to multiple legislations such as Grade Step Progression. These general have value beyond just public sector however are often essential for Public Sector organizations. This type of functionality is delivered as part of our global install.
    2. Legislation Specific - Items such as 403B pretax plans in the US and teachers pay in the UK are public sector functionality specific to those countries. This functionality is generally installed as part of the legislation data.
Note that we have only one product - Oracle HRMS. It has components for different legislations and industries that coexist in a single installation. Customers simply choose to use the parts of the product that are required for their business.
    Regards,
    Greg

  • How can I get my foot in the door in the world of SAP consulting?

I live in the U.S. but have the opportunity to work for Fujitsu in India in an entry-level position.  I haven't yet been able to get a similar offer from a company in the U.S.  Do you think it is worth moving half way around the world, work there for a year or two, and hope that I gain the experience and knowledge necessary to land a descent job here in the U.S.?  Or do you think that it would be too much hastle and it would be best if I kept trying my luck here?
I'm curious to hear you guys' thoughts!
    A

    Hi Akshay,
as you don't know where your future is, so i think you have to grab this oppurtunity. while in USA you have seen millions of people who have just walked there to get a good oppurtunity, so it never matters
how far you are from your home to start your career, that menas if you are getting a good oppurtinity
to work with, you should take it on priority basis, it might become a fruitful decision for you.
And as you are saying that "should i stay here at USA to look for another option", dear its upto you.
If you think you can find a better oppurtunity there, then you can stay, but droping an oppurtunity sometimes creates a problem, so i will not suggest it to you.
Now, you can talk to your family and ask what they wants, i think you are so smart to choose the best
option , rather than asking to others.
