SAP QM unable to pick Code group & code in creation of defect in QA32

Hi every one,
I am new to QM , can any one guide me to solve this issue.
In T code QA32 after results recording, am trying to maintain defect document of one of reject MIC. But, i am unable to pick Code group or code. System showing error "Code group QM-Q contradicts the code group of the catalog profile "

Hello Srinivas,
Check below path and let me know what settings you have maintained.
Now, Also check your Catalogs profile, You have to maintain Catalog "Z" for the same catalog profile.

Dear Friends,
Can I create my own catalog types.
I have created my own catalog types.
1) For Usage Decision (R)
2) For Defets recording (P)
During defect recording the system is picking the code groups & codes created by me and which are assigned . It is not showing other ones.
But during Usage decision it is picking all the code groups, codes & selected sets attached to standard UD catalog "3".
I am unable to understand how the system is behaving like this.
I have created my own notification type Y1. I have created my Catalog profile (YQM000001).
I have assigned this profile to inspection type.
I have assigned this notification type to inspection type.
In the catalog profile YQM000001, I have assigned two catalogs (R & P).
In catalogs & catalog profile for notification type, problems field assigned the catalog type "P".
One more issue while recording the defects I am getting notification type as Y1 (created by me) but the catalog profile is showing standard one "QM0000001".
I am unable to understand these all. Do anybody has got any solution.

There is no need to create separate catalog type for your problem of displaying specific UD codes while giving user decision. You can assign the specific 'UD selected set' from catalog type 3 ( User decision) in SPRO ' Maintain inspection type' for QM. Following is the path you can assign the desired UD option you need to see while recording UD:
SPRO >> Quality Management >> Quality Inspection >> Inspection lot creation >> Maintain inspection types >>execute >> select the inspection type say '01' and view details >> there will be field UD selected set, assign the specific selected set made for your plant and save.
By doing this when you go for giving any UD, codes defined by you only will be displayed (not all).
Didn't understand your issue related to notification, but in same above screen you can also assign notification type for particular insp. type.
Looking at your requirement there is no need to create separate insp type or notification type just make proper use of existing one and do proper assignment.
Please let me know if you have any problem in resolving this.

Enter commodity code/ Group code for the hierachy

Hi Experts,
I am trying to create New trading goods material by copying another similar material but here the issue is when I am trying to save the material mesage says Enter commidity code/ Group code for the hierarchy. This message is coming when every thing is finish and trying to save at the end of the transaction.
I believe we need to maintain commodity codes in customizing for sales and distribution especially foreign trade.
Any one can give me idea what is the configuration for this step by step.

Hello,
Commodity code can be configured in SPRO->Sales and Distribution->Foreign Trade/Customs->Basis data for Foreign Trade->Define Commodity Codes / Import Code Numbers By Country.
You maintain the same at country level.

Catalog -code group & codes (object part,causes,damage,etc)

Dear PM gurus,
request kindly help to activate and flow the catalog - code groups & codes in standard report of iw29 or iw59 for the following code group & code
Notification Header level of Items :
1. Code group - Object part & code
2. code group - Damage & code
Sub header level of Items -- CAUSES
1. Code group & Code
Cause code text & cause text
in pm & service notification we are using the above code groups & codes, but the contents are not flowing in IW29 & IW59, pl help

hi pm gurus,
we have customised catalog code for our pm-cs notificatcations.
we have code groups & codes under catalog.
we have created lot of code groups & codes in code groups, now we wanted to delete or deactivate or block some of the code groups & codes. how this is possible ?.
pl help.

Please note down the path for deactivation of catlogs.
SPRO --- Plant maintenance & customer services - --- Maintenance & service processing -
maintenance and service notification -
notification creation -
notification conents....Maitain Catalog..
click on define catalog....
What u r asking is only about... catalog that's is the combination of code groups.....
from here u can deactivate catalog...
incase of doubt please ask...

Strange Problem with Code Groups / Codes

Hey all, have a strange problem with Code Groups and Codes.
Our data migration team accidentally loaded an early version of our catalog (code groups and codes) in to our 'Gold' configuration client. They then proceed to delete them all via transaction qs41. However, the code groups have been deleted, but not the codes.
So, basically, no codes groups exist in table QPGR or QPGT but all the entries remain in QPCD with the assigment to code groups. The usage indicator is not set on the codes so why they did not get deleted with the codes groups is unknown.
The issue that this is now causing us is that we can't recreate the codes groups with these codes assigned as the system thinks they already exist (via a check on table QPCD i would expect).
Also, i have been unable to recreate what happened did in other clients... seems very strange.
Any help appreciated.

You could try SE11, and see if you can delete the records from there.. but I'm not hopeful...
Otherwise you may need to write a quick ABAP program to delete the data base entries.

Code under code group disappear after creation

Hi all,
I have two questions on following which are link to each other:
Q1 u2013 Code created inside a newly created code group is disappearing.
>> When I created a code group using QS41 with status of the code group indicated as u201CReleasedu201D. Next I went to create three codes with individual defect class under the code group screen. Lastly, I hits save.
>> Next, I went to QS42 (display) on this code group. However, surprisingly, all the codes created under this code group were disappeared. May I know why?
Q2 u2013 Using defect class to activate a defect record as quality notification automatically during defect recording.
>> I read this section in SAP help portal that I can activate a defect class in customization to automatically activate a quality notification (i.e. so that the defect class can automatically activate a defect record as quality notification during result recording so that the user can continue process the quality notification. How do I do this in system since I keep on getting problem on question 1 on above? Even after question 1 on above solved, what are the relevant steps that I require to configure in order to make this function working?

Hide Code Group code as selection

When we develop Code Groups and Codes, after a period of time the Code is no longer to be used. I understand that it can not be deleted as it has usage, but why can't one flag similar to the Code Group itself so it will not be visible for selection. Right now we change description to DO NOT USE, but users still select code.

It is possible to delete the catalog codes inside the group.
For that, first you have to define your own catlog type (as SAP recommends not to change the settings for the SAP defined catalog types).
Procedure:
- Define catalog type say 'Z'
- In config set the check box Deactivate. (Read F1 help on this checkbox)
- Now define the codes for this type in QS41.
- Use the code somewhere (e.g. Notification)
- If u check QS41 again, it will have usage indicator.
- But you can delete the entry ignoring the warning message.
Let me know if this fulfills the reqmnt.

Catalogs are resources which help ensure the uniform use of terms. CRM uses a dual level hierarchy comprising of code groups and codes for catalogs. The terms are coded at client level in a corresponding coding. The codes themselves are composed of four characters, and are assigned to a code group composed of eight characters.
Code
A key that uniquely identifies the qualitative contents of a problem in a coded form that can be mechanically processed.
Each code is assigned to a code group in the catalog. A code can describe:
a characteristic attribute
a defect type
a usage decision
Code Group
A key for summarizing codes and structuring a catalog according to various criteria.
The assignment of codes to code groups takes place at client level.

SAP BSI Interface - Group Code

Hi Experts,
In the SAP BSI Interface, where is the Group Code (GC) coming from? I tried overriding this value from IT0234 but it doesn't seem to be accepting it. Its there in the Input table P0234, however, when I look at the Employee Data it is still taking the old Group Code into consideration and passing this on to the BSI Interface.
I need to change the Group Code so that the correct GC is passed in the BSI Interface from SAP.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

So this is what I have so far --
I've maintained the Employee Groups in TaxFactory (correct Data Source and Data Set).
I see that in UMOT the Group Code is defaulted to "EG99".
I've maintained IT0234 for this employee with Empl.override group defined and Override percentage as 100%.
In the payroll log, under USTAX I see IT0234 (P0234) under Input, however, under Processing when I select "Employee Data" I still see the Group Code defined as EG99. This is then passed in the BSI interface as well.
For some reason its not taking the override defined in IT0234.
Am I missing something?

is there any relation between " reason , code , code group , subject profile'
Actually i have make "reason" feild has default value ..
i have to do by RFC .
Cany any body plz reply from where i have to pick this reason feild and set reason feild has default value has " not started "

Hi,
Subject profiles are used in different areas like
Service
Complaint
Activity reason(Used in all documents like sales,service order)
There is a relationship between Codes, Code groups, code group profiles, Catologs, Subject profiles.
Do not confuse 'Reason' with 'Code' or 'Subject'(Not subject profile), all are same. In different contexts you call them with different names.
1. In IMG while creating codes you use the name "Code".
2. While entering details about activity in any business transaction you call it as a "Reason"
3. While entering the defect of the problem in Service or complaint doc. you use the name "Subject"
In all above cases it is equivalent to name "CODE' which you define in IMG.
Now coming to relationship of above mentioned entities, in any business transaction type customization you can select "business activity" as additional business transaction category. At the customizing header level of this bus. tran. category you are allowed to enter a "Subject profile" which controls your "Reason" field in the business transaction.
In a similar way for service or complaint order you are allowed to enter a "Subject profile" for entering "Subject" in respective transactions.
Each subject profile is assigned to Subject profile category like Service, Complaint, Activity reason etc.,
1. First define catalogs
2. For each catalog define code groups and codes( Code, subject, reason mentioned earler)
3. Create 'Code group profile' for each catalog and assign assign 'code groups' that are relevant for coreesponding catalog to 'code group profile'
4. Now finally create a "Subject profile" which is the combination of "Catalog and code group profile"
I think this would clarify your doubt.
Coming to default value in this reason field, the standard system will not support this. You sholud use some Badi to get this.

Error in notification- Wrong Code group displaying

While creating Notification, we can assign codes for defect loc, def type and causes. After that, If I go in change mode of same notification, code group for defect type and causes are default taking as code group assigned for defect location.
Also the code group for defect type and causes are not even displaying in screen.
But the data for defect location is showing everything fine, means code group, codes.
Summary:
In QM02- Change Notification
Defect Location:
Code group- Correctly displaying whatever assigned during creation of notification
Defect Loc code: Correctly displaying
Def Loc description- Correctly displaying
Def Type:
Code group- Displaying same code group of def location
Defect type code: No display
Defect type description- No display
Causes:
Code group- Displaying same code group of def location
Causes code- No display
Causes description- No display
Did anyone faced the same issue before. If so plz ley me know

Yes, its true that you can update the Catalogs, Code Groups & Codes through SPRO only. They are the master data to be uploaded in SPRO i.e. customizing. For this you donot need any BDC. By LSMW, you can upload this or simply cut paste of Excel Sheets is more than enough for this.
You cannot update this through Tcode because its a Client Specific & uploading a catalog will happen with using * means the entire catalog is blocked for usage by the users till you save your changes & close the screen.

Unable to create Product group form T Code- MC84 in ECC 6.0

After Upgrade from 4.7E to ECC 6.0 we are facing problem for Tcode-MC84(Create Product Group) is opening but we are unable to Create product group..
can any tell me what is problem for this or is there any apply SAP Note for this.

Hi,
I think for some particular versions you can create a product group directly using T code MC84, and if u have got a material type say PROD-Product group,then use mm01 for creating a product group. And then you can do the change in MC86 for product group.

Selected set assignment to code group

I have maintained a catalog " S", under which i have maintained code groups and codes in QS41, but here the usage indicator is deactive. I cannot select it.
Now when i use QS51,i am unable to view the codes. the selected set is empty. In this case how to assign the code groups and codes to seleccted set.
any help, i am new to qm

There is some confusion you have in code gr & selected set.
In simple words -->in QS41 you create defect codes & code gr for catalo types like 1,3,9 etc.
But in QS51 you combine different codes from code grs to form selected sets.Practically selected sets are only used for Characteristics attributes(1) and Usage decision(3) and by default they carry valuations.
For catalog defect type (9) I would suggest to add and create your own codes and code groups as per business requirement in QS41.You should not actually create selected set for catalog 9.
