SAP R/3 4.5B heterogeneous + win2003 + sql2000

Hi SDN,
we are starting an heterogeneous system copy of an SAP R/3 4.5B (NT4/Oracle8.1) to win2003/SQL2000 and searching PAM for Kernel releases for this target system I've found this
SAP KERNEL 4.5B 32-BIT - MS SQL SERVER 2000 WINDOWS SERVER
2003/IA32 32BIT 16.05.2003 Released
witch I presume that is an SAP Kernel for the release we need, but SAP Support answer me that they didn't  have a extended kernel for MSSQL, but what I need is not an extended kernel but this one I have found at PAM.
can someone enlight me for this doubt?
Thanks and best regards
Pedro Rodrigues

Hi Yaroslav,
thanks for your answer but I was unable to figured it out from the SAP OSS NOTE that kernel 4.6D_EXT works in my SAP R/3 4.5B ...
anyway, I did not require an extended kernel, just the very last release for 4.5B MSSQL 2000 Win Server 2003 witch I think that I've found in PAM is
SAP KERNEL 4.5B 32-BIT - MS SQL SERVER 2000 WINDOWS SERVER
2003/IA32 32BIT
16.05.2003 Released
Is that correct?
Thanks and best regards

  • SAP NW BPM and NW CE in heterogeneous system landscape and SOX

    Hi,
    Does anybody have experience with implementation of SAP NW BPM in a heterogeneous system environment (SAP, non-SAP, Legacy) in regards to detailed audit requirements (SOX compliance)? SAP Business Workflow is well established regarding SOX compliancy. But, what about NW BPM?
    Thanks for you replies in advance.
    Shahram

    Hi Shahram,
    Not sure about the way you are implementing BPM in SAP/NonSAP scenario, but in BPM you can have detailed reporting and analytics for auditing purpose.
    You can also create your own data source and pass data values from the process.

    Hi,
    Check you are able to test the connection to SAP Support using OSS1 t-code.
    You must have the same host name as you had before.

    Can you tell us what you mean with "not reflecting"? All the content is in the database so if you copied that, it's definitely there.
    > Can you please guide whether we have to do Unicode conversion for this /Is their any way for activating the languages. I Executed the report RSCPINST and tried to activate the languages after doing stimulation and copying zcsa/installed_languages =13CDEFIJLMNOPQRSTVZ to the instance profile.

  • Downgrade to sql 2000

    Hi,
    We are doing a system migration from one hardware platform to another. We do this by installing a new SAP server + SQL server on the new hardware, detaching the data from the source system, attaching on the target system and running STM.
    Source system setup is: Win2003, SQL2000, SAP ECC 6.0
    Target system setup is: Win2003, SQL2005, SAP ECC 6.0 <-- SQL server 2005 was erroneously chosen by us
    Now, the question is: How can we downgrade the target system to SQL 2000? Do we have to re-install the system all over, or is it sufficient to delete SQL 2005 and install SQL 2000?
    Has anyone tried this?
    Go-live is Friday, so we are in a hurry
    Thanks
    Thomas

    Hi,
    Thanks for your interest.
    Yes. First of all SQL 2005 is 'wrong' because the source system is on collation "bin" whereas the target system must be on collation "bin2" if it is an SQL server 2005. The source systems cannot have "bin2" installed because it will require downtime in the source system and we can't have that.
    We have done a test where we run the target system SQL 2005 with collation "bin" and then attach the database. That works fine, apart from loads of messages coming out of transaction SICK:
    DB CHECK   Wrong Database collation. Perform SQL2005 after upgrade steps. Please see note 126973
    DB CHECK   DB CHECK   DB CHECK   DB CHECK   DB CHECK   DB CHECK   DB CHECK   DB CHECK   DB CHECK   DB CHECK
    Severe problems were detected during initial system check.
    Please, do not use that system before fixing these problems.
    I have checked the mentioned note, and also notes 600027, 62988, 126973, 799058, 924288 and 1291861. None of them seem to fix the problem. So we decided to forget about the SQL server 2005 for the weekend and instead go for a 1:1 correlation between source and target systems, and then plan for a SQL 2005 upgrade later.
    What are your thoughts? Can SICK be fixed?

  • OS Migration from Solaris 10 to Windows Server 2008 R2 or higher

    Hi experts,
    We'd like to migrate the OS of our SAP systems to windows from Solaris 10. We're still wondering which version of Windows we'll use. (matter of money)
    Could you give me some docs, tips or advice to do that ? (requirements, how to do it, packages to install)
    I have checked berforehand that all the SAP solutions we're using are compatible with Windows Server 2008 R2 or higher.
    I heard I'd need an OS Migration Expert to do it, but still, before that I need to check if it's possible and a roadmap could also be nice.
    Thank you in advance,
    Best Regards.
    Alexiel.

    Hi Alex,
    From license perspective you need to procure license for Windows 2012 but for installation you can downgrade it to windows 2008 R2 as required.
    From suggestion perspective, it is always good to go with Windows 2012 to gain benefits from mainstream support and new features as compared to windows 2008 r2.
    As per SAP recommendation, it is good to have OS/DB certified consultant to perform the migration.

  • Requirement of BW

    am supposed to give a presentation to Business Users
    Could you please send me any standard presentations that will give an overview of BW System and advantages of BW Reports
    (email address removed by moderator)
    Points to be covered
    1) Why only SAP BW
    2) What are the advantages of BW Reports
    3) What is the concept of multi dimensional analysis of data in BW
    4) How should an ideal BW Implementation should be...i mean what are the phases
    Its'urgent
    Regards,
    Priya

    Hi Priya,
    Please see this , it may help you.
    (1) Why only SAP BW?
    BW supports heterogeneous systems, where as other erp's and sap R/3 supports only homogeneous systems. Performance is also very much good. We can say BW a Decision Support System or Environment. History of data will be nearly 8 to 10ys. It records the data analytically where as the others or just transaction recordings.
    (2)Advantages of BW reports
    BW reports we can generate on internet, mobile and excel sheets. Where as the other erp's we can generate reports max on excel sheets only.
    Its performance is good since, BW concentrates only on reporting.
    (3)Multi dimensional analysis of data in BW
    Infocubes have a max of 16 dimensions out of which 3 are predefined.
    More data will be stored in dimensions,compared to flat structures. We can generate mini cubes(aggregates), specialising particular characteristics.
    (4)BW implementation
    There are 5 stages in implementation
    one is collection of datan or preparation of data
    second is identifying the end user (client's) requirements ie., defining the landscape
    third is preparation of blue print
    fourth is realisation
    and last one is testing the entire implementation
    Develop evaluation criteria and test plan(testing the entire implementation)
    ((For implementation in detail you can see this.
    Preparation -
    Identify the business requirements with the help of existing documents and business needs.
    Basing on the requirements, determine which pre-delivered SD functional areas to be included.
    Technical Requirements Planning like frequency of data uploads, events to be triggered (Process chains)
    Identify the end user requirements ( BEx, Workbook, Crystal Report..) and security requirements.
    Establish System Landscape and Transport Strategy (Basis).
    Blueprint-
    Set up of the Development environment .
    Business Content Check : Finalize a list of pre delivered business content to be activated by functional components, data sources, info cubes, objects, queries, workbook and roles.
    System Administration procedures like data access issues, definition of roles, responsibilities and tasks for each procedure.
    Agree upon the instrument (template) to record the test result and additional requirements.
    Develop evaluation criteria and test plan.
    Coordinate with DBA for Table Spaces definition .
    Testing of BW operating environment (both Plug-ins, BW backend and BW front-end).
    Realization-
    Business Contents Activation
    Populate SAP delivered business contents with customer data
    Verify the content activation Result
    Data conversions and interface programs
    Final Preparation-
    Perform System Performance Tuning activities
    Adjust database parameters
    Review Indexes
    Review data loading time and evaluate feasible options:
    Parallel processing; partitioning; multi cube;
    Review Query performance and feasible options:
    Aggregation; compression; MultiCube;
    Develop a BW Operations Guide
    Final approval for going live
    Support-
    Go live Checks
    Support review
    Provide production support
    Validate live business process results
    Define the scope of next iteration of implementation.

  • SQL 2000 AND SQL 2005 ON THE SAME SERVER

    Hi all ,
    I have an installation of    SAP4.7SR1 /MSSQL2000 on a windows 2003 server.
    I want to install SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 4.0 /MSSQL2005 on the same server ... it is possible that two version of SQL ( 2000 and 2005 ) coexists on the same server ? It's sufficent to install SQL into two different directory ?
    Thank's a lot.
    Antonio Voce.

    Hi,
    yes it is possible to install SQL2000 and SQL2005 on same server but there are certain special considerations that you should be aware of
    look at following blog
    http://blogs.msdn.com/sqlblog/archive/2006/09/27/co-existence-of-sql-2005-with-sql-2000.aspx
    also look http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143694.aspx
    but in case of SAP Installation i prefered that to upgarde SQL2000 to SQL2005  then install solman 4.0

  • Need to transfer production server from Hp-Unix to OS SuseLinux 11.5

    Background : We are having ECC 6.0 running on HP Unix
    What we need to do : want to migrate the entire production application to a new server under o/s SuseLinux 11.5 certified by SAP AG
    What we are doing : there is a utility called Software Developer Tool [DRYRUN] using this utility want to export application to storage and from store we shall import/restore the application into the new server under o/s SuseLinux 11.5
    What error I am getting :
    Sapinst could not find the required software logistics java libraries DIAGNOSTS. The global directory may not be available at u2018/usr/sap/fpp/globalu2019 or its contain may not be up-to-date in addition the version of the SAP NetwWeaver java system might be lower than AP6. SOLUTION, Mound the global directory and/or apply the latest support package.
    Using above method we could migrate development server to SuseLinux 11.5 successfully.
    If I have posted this question on wrong forum pl. guide me
    Thanks
    Nitin

    Hello Nitin,
    You are receiving error from some third party tool. I think you should look for the 'DRYRUN' forums. By the way it would be greet if you could give more details about the dry run.
    But my other colleagues reply above is right. Ideally SAP forums would support normal heterogeneous system copy/migration methods.
    Let me have a look at the product after your input and probably after that we can  have a shot at the error.
    If you need help in finding Guides ,please let me know that too; can surely help you with that.

    I got the following error when I open the Mantein Dimension Property in the BPC Administration panel:
    "object variable or with variable not set"
    I am using SAP BPC 5.1 SP3 on Win2003 and MSSQL 2005 Enterprise.
    Any help is welcome.

    Hi,
       Usually, this error is comming from a wrong client installation or from a client which is not syncronized with the server version. Can you please check this?
    You can just try to reinstall the Admin client component (very fast) to see if this is solving your issue.

    Java :
    URL obj = new URL(url);
    URLConnection con = (URLConnection) obj.openConnection();
    String userpass = "username:password";
    String basicAuth = "Basic " + javax.xml.bind.DatatypeConverter.printBase64Binary(userpass.getBytes());
    con.setRequestProperty ("Authorization", basicAuth);
    con.setRequestProperty("Content-type", "text/xml");
    con.setDoOutput(true);
    DataOutputStream wr = new DataOutputStream(con.getOutputStream());
    wr.write( xml.getBytes("UTF-8") );
    wr.flush();
    wr.close();
    You can then read the response.
    I found that until I added the sap_client parameter I couldn't debug in CL_HTTP_WORKFLOW_XML->IF_HTTP_EXTENSION~HANDLE_REQUEST. Then I found that the content type has to be "text/xml".
    I set the xml variable (the data sent to ECC) to :
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    <WfMessage Version="SAP.1.0" xmlns="http://www.wfmc.org/standards/doc/WF-XML">

    </Request>
    <Key>HTTP://server.domain:8000/SAP/BC/WORKFLOW_XML/?~localkey=WS90000074</Key>
    <Operation>CreateProcessInstance</Operation>
    </WfMessageHeader>
    <WfMessageBody>
    <CreateProcessInstance>

    <YOUR_CONTEXT_VARIABLE>x</YOUR_CONTEXT_VARIABLE>
    </ContextData>
    <StartImmediately>Yes</StartImmediately>
    </CreateProcessInstance>
    </WfMessageBody>
    </WfMessage>
