SAP R/3 4.6C Installation in HPUX with 4 sapdata files

Hi all,
We are building a sandbox system to perform our upgrade.
While installing SAP R/3 4.6c, in HPUX/Oracle 10g, we need to have only 4 sapdata filesystem:
Oracle/DV1/sapdata1
Oracle/DV1/sapdata2
Oracle/DV1/sapdata3
Oracle/DV1/sapdata4.
But while doing the installation it creates sapdata5 & sapdata6. But we don't want to have sapdata5 & sapdata6.
We need to do the installation within the 4 sapdata filesystems itself.
Can any one help me how and where to edit, so that the installation will fit withing the 4 sapdata FS itself.

Hi Srini,
If you are using sapinst tool you should be able to delete unavailable sapdatas easily in ur sapinst input DB parameters section, I also had the same issue.
Optional,you may be already aware it can also be solved by creating sapdata directories under /oracle/<SID>/... at OS level but be careful data files created will fall under your parent dir.

Fatal Error during SAP IK XI 3.1 Installation on HPUX IA 64 Machine

I installed BO Enterprise XI 3,1 on HPUX IA64 Machine and after BO installation I installed SAP IK XI 3.1.
After I ran install.sh, select language was Ok, License agreement was Ok, License Key was OK, Install Directory was OK..
but after that, the installation was terminated...
FATAL ERROR: Product's parent not found on tree: 1E7F3898-A4B8-42D0-89F0-A713FBDEBD64, parent id: 5418F914-1D31-4849-822C-314AC28B06BF

the error message was like above..
What is the reason and how can I solve it..

I think I found out what the problem is:
In our case it seems that de installerDatabase.db file is corrupt.
If you move the file to installerDatabase.org and start the installation again the FATAL ERROR won't appear.
Unfortunately the installation of the integration kid can't continue because it misses several existing program items from the BO Enterprise.
Right now Iu2019m performing a new installation of the BO Enterprise.
I hope this inormation is helpfull.

Hi - I am looking for SAP best practices document to install ERP6 on Oracle 10G platform HPUNIX 31. Is there any sap best practices guide?
Also, for Dev system, I am planning to install ABAP and JAVA stacks in one database. What do I need to do in database level?
Last, How am I going to configure the 2 engines to communicate?
Any reference to documents will be appreciated.

Sorry but I'm going to be a bit bold here.
All needed information is on the guides.
1) If you are on Windows, you put the SAP-Oracle CD/DVD in, execute the command mentioned on the installation guide type the two things mentioned on the guide and press next next next. Then you install SAP
2) if you are on UNIX, you start SAP installation, then it stops and tell you to install Oracle. The guide tells you to run RUNINSTALLER (in capitals) you type the two things mentioned on the guide and press next next next. Then you continue the SAP installation.
Of course, those are the simplified versions
No response file is generated "ever". The response file comes INSIDE the installation CDs, for that reason is very important to execute the EXACT commands mentioned on the installation guides, in order to use such, already existing, response file.
I do not understand this need of super-hiper detailed step by step guides.
If you get one like that, then it will be obsolete after one month because there are new Oracle parameters, new oracle patches/patch sets or new .... that have to be done

During installation XI on HPUX with oracle, when I came to the last step "Prepare to install minimal configuration", I faced some error with message below
message：Starting XIT:DVEBMGS01 [ABAP:Active JAVA:UNKNOWN], just like situation which described in the Notes:870763 as following:

When copying an AS ABAP+Java system the following error occurs
during the target system installation if the central
instance already exists:

Solution: Apply one of the following:
Skip this step, as ABAP is up and running:
Restart sapinst with the additional option
SAPINST_SKIP_ERRORSTEP=true
                    or
Edit the keydb.xml and replace <![CDATA[ERROR]]> by <![CDATA[OK]]>
           or
Edit the central instance profile and set
           rdisp/j2ee/start = 0
           and restart the central instance.
Continue the target system installation.
If you edited the central instance profile, don't forget to revert this
change after the target system installation has finished successfully.
so I just restart the installation and continue the old installation which parameter "SAPINST_SKIP_ERRORSTEP=true" after ./sapinst
Yes, it's really help me to skip that error and finished the installation. but when I came back to XI, I can login into the ABAP stack, but I can not access the Java stack using URL http://<host>:50100/rep , so I back to SMICM->goto->HTTP Server->Display Data, find "J2EE HTTP port" and "J2EE HTTPS port" is empty. As far as I know, these two ports should have value 50100 and 50101.
Does any one know what's the reason and how I can fix the problem? thank you very much for your time.

We have the old system based IBM server with HA environment, Cluster software is HACMP.
Now, the goal is: Migrate the SAP R/3 4.6C system to HP hardware.
Hardware: HP rx6600 & rx8640 server with MC/SG (cluster software);
DB& SAP R3 version: Oracle 9.2.0.6, R/3 4.6C non-unicode;
Here is my question:
Could you give me some wise recommendations regarding how to implement the new installation of SAP R/3 on HP-UX 11.31 with MC/SG?
Because I am confused that how to configure the Oracle RAC on MC/SG(of HP).
I try to find the installation documents for R/3 4.6C,
but I could not find the detail configuration for cluster environment, especial for HP's MC/SG.
If somebody could share the installation manual or recommendations to me, I would appreciate your great support!

You can go for combined os migration and db release upgrade also at a stretch with the same downtime.

SAP customer number unknown for installation number

We're facing some problems after a reconfiguration of some things in Solution Manager. We have SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0. Have made two days ago the installation of the latest SP, but not the kernel yet.
The problem is in the job SEND_SYSTEM_RELATIONSHIP_TO_SUPP. The error is:

I´m faccing with the same error... I installed the solution manager Ehp1 and it have SPS20 applied which correspond to ST 400 level 20 (SAPKITL430).
When I am in transaction SMSY in section Systems and I press the button "READ SYSTEM NUMBER" is shown an error message that says "SAP customer number unknown for installation" the details of help says:
Diagnosis
Installation number &V1& that is assigned to some system(s) in transaction SMSY is not assigned to an SAP customer number in table AIINSTALLATIONS.
Procedure
Please check the log of background job REFRESH_ADMIN_DATA_FROM_SUPPORT for errors.
So, when I entry in that job log I found this error:
No customer numbers maintained in view V_AISAPCUSTNOS   | AI_SC_EN   | 106
Then I went in table/view V_AISAPCUSTNOS and inside does not contain any data!!!
All the notes I found were related to lower versions and so I could not implemented the snotes corrections!! Any notes for my release that are related with this problem?

SAP R/3 4.6 Installation issue with SAPMMC

We are installing SAP 4.6 C SR2 on AIX and Window environment.
Both CI and DB Instances are in AIX box and DI is on Windows env.
we completed our SAP R/3 4.6 c sr2 CI and DB Installations with all the Patch levels on AIX 5.3 p570.
Now we are working on SAP Application Server Installation, We Configured SAMBA on AIX Boxes and able to communicate with AIX from Windows application servers.
During the Application Installations , we followed the domain install , we got some minor issues and we fixed those, finally the installation went fine and successfully.
Now we are facing one Issue with SAPMMC- When we try to start the sap from SAPMMC the status remains in "YELLOW" with "Running but dialog Queue info unavailable" Error, Even r3trans -d working fine and we are able to logon to the SAP system through Application Server and run
transactions .
we applied note #72248 . but we still running the same problem.
I would really appreciate If any one provide some sugessions , on this issue.

I've just carried out this architecture. You have to check 2 things:
1- Are your DB software levels the same? (AIX + Windows)
2- Have you checked connectivity from client to DB server?

a new SAP NW AS ABAP 7.01 SP03 version with the Standard SAPINST installer (note: the "trial version" is beta!) and optimzed single user memory consumption (~2GB pagefile) is available for testing purposes.
NOTE: The installation step "LOAD DATABASE" may take up to 8h depending on your harddisk (1h on a fast disk). Next release will install faster.
Recommended: Use Download Manager

I have installed the Microsoft loopback adaptor, and I still got asked for a DNS entry. However I've unchecked it and continued...
After now several attempts at installing and uninstalling and trying again, I got this on the last attempt - this was after starting a new installation and choosing the 'copy to a new folder' option rather than continuing with the former installation...
