SAP R/3 and DSXI tool

Hi All,
Before posting this thread i have googled on how SAP DSXI tool can be used to ensure proper address data maintanance in SAP and couldnt succeed in finding any good info.
Our requirement is we use external tax system(Sabrix) for calculating taxes for R/3 transactions. As we know in U.S and Canada the one important parameter for calculating taxes is the Jurisdiction code of the customer. This will be determined by the third party system when ever any address data is maintained in SAP system either it is customer master, plant/shipping point etc...
The thing is to return a unique jurisdiction the third party system expects that SAP sends the complete address like country, state, district, postal code , Postal code +4 geocode value.  When creating the customer master data manually or during mass upload our user will have only  5 digit Postal code/zip code, they dont have the information of +4 geocode value of the zip code (which becomes 9 digits in total). Since the geocode value is not maitained in SAP, the tax system wont be able to determine the jurisdiction and it errors out the transaction.
We thought of making it mandatory to enter the geo code value when the cusotmer master data is maintained, but this will not solve our purpose as most of the time at the time of customer master creation the users wont be having the +4 geocode value.
I heard about SAP tool "DSXI" which can be used to get the geo code value.  Does any one have an idea on what is this tool and how it can be used / integrated with SAP and what features the DSXI tool is capable to do. Any inputs/documentation in this regard is highly appriciated.
Thanks & Regards,
Srinivas

Hi Lakshmipathi,
Thanq so much for your inputs. Can we find any documentation in sap help or service.sap on how to integrate SAP and DSXI. Basically our requirement is when ever a customer master is created with out GEOCODE value (ZIP+4 value), that customer record need to be picked by DSXI and update it with the geo code value. For this we want to know any standard interfaces/programs exist to link up SAP R/3 and DSXI.
Thanks,
Srini

  • SAP J2EE installation and MySQL tool

    Hi folks,
I successfully installed the SAP WEB AS J2EE preview ( full version ) and allready managed to create some tables using a java dictionary project.
I also downloaded SAP MaxDB SQL studio ( from www.mysql.org ) but this tool is driving me crazy ...
It simply refuses me to log on ... I used the user and password as described in the installation manual ... didn't work ...  I created my own user and gave the user a password in upper case ( yeah I found the remark in the manual about defaulting upper case ) ... doesn't work ...
    I downloaded both versions of the studio ( 7.5 and 7.6 )... nothing ... dead ... frustrated ....
I just want to enter some data in my table .... boohooobooe ...
Anybody knows a better tool for data entry ? ( without having to write my own EJB CMP beans and web application ) or a solution for my problem ?
    Steven

    Hi,
One question? Are you able to log on to the MAXDB Database
    administrator?
If yes, it should also possible to log on to SQL Studio with this user.
Also try to use User CONTROL (PW: CONTROL).

  • Advantage and disadvantages of SAP IDM & Microsoft Identity management Tool

    Hi Folks,
I am looking some points on SAP IDM and Microsoft tool for Identity Management. I am looking below mention points.
    1. Difference in the feature and prize.
    2. Limitation
    3. Solution architecture for both
    Relevant answers will be rewarded.
    Regards,
    Akshay Shail

    Hi,
I can add some points about SAP NW IdM. Regarding your question about the prize: If you only connect SAP systems (it can handle all types of SAP ABAP and SAP Java Systems) they don't charge you extra, because it's already in the NetWeaver license. Furthermore, if you use the SAP Central User Administration: It isn't further developed and will be replaced by SAP NW IdM.
The systems you mentioned can be connected, I think these are basics for everey IdM solution. HR interation is possible with SAP IdM, don't know about the other solution in this point.
There are some whitepapers and presentations about SAP NW IdM: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-identitymanagement?rid=/webcontent/uuid/f0b68fb1-d8af-2a10-2a8e-cc431c15bb39&anchor=section2.
Nevertheless, your question about limitations and solution architecture probably needs a PoC if you want to answer them in deep.
    Best regards,

Do we have to use SSL for that or SNC?I heard SNC is a mechanism which have to be used here since it uses DIAG protocol to connect but not Http.Is it true?Kindly give some more ideas on this.
Other thing is to do this they need to open a port between for using Firewall. Can you guide which SAP port has to be open for this connection?

  • How to use SOA Suite in conjunction with SOA Analysis and Design Tools

    Hi everybody,
I am a novice in this field and I need some help regarding integrating analysis and design tools with SOA Suite.
We used to analyze and design with Oracle Designer and use its powerful form generator to develop a system. It almost covered all the software lifecycle and kept the traceability between anlaysis, design and implementation.
I have studied about the SOA concepts and read some papaer about SOA Suite. I have also installed the SOA demo based on SOA Suite and I found it absolutely amazing, but my problem is that It seems oracle does not have any tools for SOA Analysis and Design. am I right? if so, How can we analyze and design a system based on SOA concepts and implement it using soa suite in such a way that keeps traceability? What tools is used for this purpose?
It seems that IBM have some tools like Rational Software Architect and Rational Suite which enable people to design and analyze based on SOA concepts and then generates some pieces of code (like oracle designer in old days) but is it possible to design in these tools and then generating codes for SOA Suite ? (for example generating a bpel file from a design model)
As I told before I am a novice in this field and I would be so grateful if other users can share their expriences regarding this matter.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Navid

    Thanks in Advance

    Hi  Shyamal Kumar,
    1)  BW it self  facilitates to do the ETL (Extraction Transformation Loading)  steps:
         example:
Extraction  - from SAP or other data bases
Transformation - using transfer rules, Updates rules
Loading  -  Loading into ODS, Cube, master data
    2) Typically used ETL tools in the industry are:
         a)   datastage from Ascential (owned by IBM)
         b)   Informatica
         c)   Mercator

  • Is SAP BODS the best ETL tool for a complex BI Environment

    Hi All
We are in the process of rationilising our BI / Analytics environment.
We currently have SAP ECC6 as our ERP system, SAP BW as our Warehouse and BO for WEB and Dashboard fron ends. In additon we have a small instance of COGNOS which is largely fed with flat file loads but some Oracle and ECC6 data.
In addition we are evaluating Big data solutions with Teradata the current lead.
We are in danger of having multiple ETL tools associated with the main BI applications and so we are comparing SAP BODS with IBM Datastage with a view to slecting one of them as our only ETL tool.
Does anyone have any compatability information for SAP BODS with Cognos and Teradata? The main function required would be extracting from ECC6 into SAP BW, Cognos and Teradata.
    Thanks
    Jerry

    Hi Jerry,
Cognos is a presentation tool so no worries as far integration is concerned.
As far teradata is concerned, kindly see the following doc:

  • Difference between SAP Carbon Impact and SAP EHS - Environment Compliance

I am confused between the functionality offered by SAP Carbon Impact and how different it is from SAP EHS Management - Environment Compliance. I understand that both of them are different technical products from SAP with Carbon Impact being an on-demand solution which was acquired from Clear Standards earlier this year.
However they seem to have an overlap in their functionality. Even the websites seem to talk about addressing similar issues.
[SAP EHS Management - Environment Complaince|http://www12.sap.com/solutions/business-suite/erp/corporate_services/ehs/features-functions/environmental-compliance-software/index.epx]
    [SAP Carbon Impact|http://www12.sap.com/solutions/sustainability/offerings/carbon-impact/index.epx]
Has anyone used both the solutions and can tell what the difference is between the two in terms of their business functionality?

Hi Girish. While these two solutions both help manage environmental emissions, the specific pain points each address are distinctly different. Hopefully I can help explain. <p>
Environmental Compliance (EC) is a solution designed to help manage the heavy regulatory burdens associated with emission related compliance. EC helps you measure and monitor your direct emissions irrespective of medium (i.e. air, water, or solid waste) and manage these emissions against regulatory requirements. As an example, Title V air permits are typically hundreds of pages long and filled with numerous requirements and conditions. In order to meet the demands of the permit, thousands of tasks must be managed throughout the plantu2014be it calibrating a piece of machinery or measuring the sulfur content of fuel oil. EC provides a framework to break the permit down into its respective pieces and establish workflows to ensure compliance by managing the required tasks against the associated emissions. You can also set emission limit alerts in EC to trigger specified actions to help you proactively address your emissions as opposed to a more reactive approach taken after a permit requirement has been broken. EC also helps with the regulatory reporting of your emissions and compliance efforts by enabling you to create templatized versions of commonly required reportsu2014all available at the push of a button, or they can even be automated. <p>
Carbon Impact (CI) also helps you measure and monitor your emissions, but the real focus of this solution is on gathering enterprise-wide greenhouse gas emissions across geographies and scopes. For example, CI allows you to capture your direct emissions (Scope 1), your electricity emissions (Scope 2), and your indirect emissions (Scope 3). Scope 3 emissions are also sometimes referred to as supply chain emissions (both upstream and downstream) and can be the most difficult emissions category to capture when creating your enterpriseu2019s carbon inventory. For example, letu2019s say you own a steel mill. The ore that comes into your plant has an associated upstream greenhouse gas emission arising from the mining process and when you ship your final product there are emissions associated with the transport of your product to your customer. Beyond the plant, employee travel is another type of Scope 3 emission. If your company already runs SAP, you will benefit from CIu2019s integration into our Suite that allows you to quickly access your different sources of emissionsu2014be they Scope 1, 2, or 3. One of the advantages of CIu2019s on demand delivery model is that SAP maintains updated emission factors for various materials and activities from various authoritative sources including the EPA and GHG Protocol; with this prepackaged content you no longer need to do the work of tracking down the correct emission factor and making sure it is up to date. In addition to calculating your enterprise carbon footprint, CI also gives you the tools to evaluate different abatement projects to reduce your overall environmental impact. CI also provides reporting capabilities to help with the voluntary reporting processes associated with, for example, the Global Reporting Initiative or the Carbon Disclosure Project.<p>
Often times a helpful way to understand the difference between the two solutions is to think about how they work together. If you implemented both of them, EC would be the solution that would help you collect direct emissions data and manage the associated regulatory requirements. The EC emission data would then feed into Carbon Impact to represent your direct emissions. Carbon Impact would then gather your remaining emissions as described above to give you your entire emission footprint and then help identify the best way to reduce it.

  • Difference between SAP/APO/DP and the SAP/CRM solution for forecasting

    Hi,
Can you please help me identifying the main differences between SAP/APO/DP and the SAP/CRM solution for forecasting? Advantages and disadvantages?
    Thanks a lot

    Hi LCD777,
Forecasting at DP & CRM are altogether at different entities.  CRM involves webbased data transfer mechanism tool whereas DP is database/livecache driven tool.
In CRM, you dont get optimised solution of forecasting out of it whereas in DP you can get as much as
optimised solution & flexibility as per your requirements.
DP is majorly a forecasting tool where in huge statistical method functionalities are embedded in
whereas CRM is majorly a transactional tool wherein it involves gathering of forecast data and executing it.
Typically, CRM will be integrated with DP containing GATP environment & ECC so that DP will plan for forecast data, ECC system drives sales order data & GATP calls for availability check and finally
the forecast execution& transactions will be controlled by CRM
