Anyone here have tried both or have a suggestions about wich smartphone to get?
We might be moving to CRM but nothing is sure..
Thanks!

couldnt find anything to EDIT the this but neway..
also.. i`ve been reading about application for mobility....

i've read reviews, from the BB website, that Isec7 made a very good application

  • Possible convert to Blackberry from Palm - please help with outlook questions

I'm debating switching from a Palm Treo 800 (battery life is awful) to Blackberry Curve. I chose the Treo because of active sync with my work exchange server and ability to open Office documents.
Currently, I sync my outlook mail, tasks & calendar with work, and my contacts & notes with my home computer. So if i follow your instructions for using BIS instead of BES (my employer only provides BES service for a carrier which is not mine ...), will I be able to sync manually with a cable to my work computer for  calendar & tasks and then to my home computer for contacts & notes?
I have to decide THIS WEEK if I'm going to switch from Palm to Blackberry, so please hurry! The blackberry seems like it's a lot more fun than the Palm, and your support is much more extensive and user-friendly!

Ok, so if both machines are Outlook based, I would not see a problem,
You would need  2 DM programs one at work and one at home.
For work you can specify sync for tasks and calendar, for home sync contacts and notes.
Both calendars would have to be the Outlook calendar as default.
You can the have the synced BB and would have the ability to backup on both machines, or better yet, back up on one machine to eliminate confusion. In case of failure, you have a backup of ALL data.
You wouldn't have to convert anything because Outlook is fully compatible with the Desktop Manager.
    I don't see a problem.
    Thanks

  • Workflow on Blackberry

    Hi All,
I know this topic is already discussed many times before also but while going through the solutions and discussions I was not able to understand many facts.
First of all I am looking for a 2 way communication between SAP workflow and Blackberry. I am not looking for any 3rd party solution (e.g SKY Tech or 3I soluitions).
What is the minimum requirement for SAP workflow to get executed on blackberry?
what needs to send the Work Item (Decision Step) to workflow?
How to read back the reply?
Any suggestions or inputs are welcome.
    Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
please note this is a bespoke application to meet some very demanding requirements - including that some users do not necessarily have network connectivity to the backend SAP systems. There are many other solutions around but most require direct SAP connectivity or some sort of middleware.
The simplest way to describe it is as a workflow email handler. Workitems generate a rich email that provides the user with all the details required to make their decision. To execute a decision the user simply clicks a link in the email that addresses a reply email containing the chosen decision. The user then sends the email which is received by the application that then executes the decision on behalf of the user. Any errors are transmitted to the user by email.
The application has been built to work with ERP backends from 4.6B through to ECC6.

  • Syncing with Blackberry 8330

Can I sync from my Palm computer program to my Blackberry 8330 phone?  The Blackberry doesn't list Palm OS as one of the operative systems it automatically connects with.
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

Hello dougloving and welcome to the Palm forums.
You are correct, you can't sync your BlackBerry with Palm Desktop.  What you need to do is purchase a copy of Microsoft Outlook if you don't already have a license for it.  Then sync your Palm with Palm Desktop one last time.  Next, change your HotSync conduits from Palm Desktop to Microsoft Outlook using the icon in Start > All Programs > Palm.  Once you get the Outlook conduits configured (the Palm E2 user guide will help you set up the conduits), sync your E2 with Outlook.
Once you have the Palm/Outlook sync working, you can then sync your BlackBerry to Outlook and have both devices updating Outlook.
    Hope that helps,

  • Why SAP has taken Java for their development instead of ABAP completely

    Hi
I am Neelima, new to SAP and abap,
    Can u please explain
Why SAP has taken Java for their development instead of ABAP completely
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Neelima

    Hi Neelima ,
Answer to Q . Why SAP has taken Java for their development instead of ABAP completely ?
First of all in my view SAP has not taken Java as Such instead of ABAP .
But you nowdays whole lot of java is coming in SAP by doors of SAP NetWeaver .
Now why they choosed java only <b> IN MY VIEW</b>
    1)     Java is open source so SAP in tie up with SUN can develop SAP specific API’s and that’s what happenings . In Net Weaver Developer studio (NDS of SAP like eclipe of Java ) we use packages ,classes , methods for SAP.
    2)     In my view Java is rocking in Web world , Every single popular product ( like IBM MQ series , Oracle Apps ) is making use Java for making things web based .
    So why not SAP .
    3)     Now data ultimately data is getting saved in XML . And java is best to deal with that . In SAP also Idoc data is stored in XML and so same data can be used anywhere inspite of Platform , technology .
    4)     Java has much established base of web Solution , Web services .They have got beautiful architecture so that Best Web sevices can be developed with EJB (Enter prise java beans  ) , sturts  and all .
    5)     Now It’s time for SAP to be Mobile Enabled .i.e. to Run SAP over PDA , Blackberry .Such solutions possible with SAP + Java combination .Java provides that framework to understand Mobile OS platform.
    6)     Another thing now Its time of EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) . Integration is future . Multiple product integrated and used togetherly , exchanges data. Take case SAP’s message goes to Sieble , people soft .For this Java + XML is best suied as both product understand it .
Utimately SAP is Using java to provide Best Web ERP solutions
But it does not mean ABAP is not there. With webDynpro ABAP  you can do every thing that WD java does . In fact incase if you have existing ABAP recourses then use WD ABAP for developing web services in SAP. In uses OO ABAP as base programming language .
    Please refer to this link
IS Webdynpro for ABAP/JAVA is same?
so hope your question is cleared
    Cheers

  • Has any one tried to bluetooth pics or audio from a Blackberry Curve 8330?

My blackberry found the Palm Pre when searching for bluetooth devices and so did the Palm Pre but the blackberry and palm connections failed!!!!! Help anyone please!!!!!!!
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

I'm new.  Same bluetooth problem. Will not pair with my 2010 VW GTI w NAV system, or my MacBook Pro 17" (just discovered the MacB prob.)
When I initially discovered the problem I went to an Apple Store. Genius was excellent but requested that I check with VW.  VW people were very helpful. A mechanic had an iphone 4s. He came out to the car ... He could not pair my phone but he could pair his phone ... So, it's the iphone ... Back to the Apple Store ... the genius was really good. He replaced the iphone. Great !  So, back out to the car & it would not pair, still.  So ... can't be the phone , right.  Back to VW. The Audi manager had an iphone 4S. He paired his phone with my car. He could not pair my phone to my car. He tries my phone in a new 2011 GTI sitting on the lot ... my phone pairs with it just fine.  So ... it's my car.  So ... make an appointment to get the bluetooth module replaced. They replace the Bluetooth module. My iphone will not pair.  They end up pairing 2 different iphone 4S to my car ... but not my iphone 4S. My iphone 4S will also not pair with another 2010 GTI they have in for service. Though the 2 iphone 4S
pair with the second GTI just fine.  They even try pairing my iphone with a brand new 2012 GTI in the showroom ... yep ... it paired fine.    So ... ????????????????
They are going to update my nav software next (tomorrow), Hopeful ??? not really ... Will be taking my computer to Apple Store next ... maybe if they can discover why it will not pair to my MacBook Pro it will lead to a solution for the GTI ???  I'll get back to you.

  • Week view calendar = fail

I was very happy when I heard IOS5 was going to include a week view. Now I've seen how its been done I wonder why Apple bothered.
I expected to be able to see the whole week's calendar in both vertical or horizontal orientation as you can on an iPad, Blackberry, Nokia, Palm or pretty much any other smart phone. Just scale the iPad view down and I'll be happy. I don't need to be able to read all the text, I'm more interested in being able to see when I'm busy and when I'm free for the whole week. The tap for details concept used in month view would be fine.
Instead we get a 1/2 week view that works only when the phone is held sideways and needs scrolling to see more days. This is not week view at all, and is pretty hopeless IMHO.
Proper week view is the most convenient way of negotiating an appointment time with a client. e.g. I'm available Mon am, Wed pm, all day Friday and Sunday from 2pm. You should not have to scroll. Mon - Sun should be visible on 1 screen.
    Please do it properly Apple!

After searching elsewhere I found an app called "week calendar" which is pretty good... maybe Apple should licence it...

  • Windows Vista 64 bit and Treo 755p

    Hello,
I am wondering if the latest software update will allow me to sync using HotSync and a cable.  When I got my 755 it said that it was not compatible with my new computer that has the 64 bit Vista.  Is this going to be fixed eventually or should I just give up and sync onto another computer with XP?  Thanks.
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Verizon)

Obviously this is one of the strangest anti-business responses from a for-profit company I have heard of, but I can't even get the bluetooth workaround to work because as soon as I start to install the setup, it immediately stops and says it was interrupted.  This was a clean install of Windows Vista 64 Business, with no antivirus software running (or even installed yet).  I downloaded the install software yesterday, even tried downloading it again to make sure.  I even tried loading prior versions of it, all to no avail.  They simply will not install saying they got interrupted.  If there is some magic to allow this to work, my wife and I would be quite grateful.  If not, hello blackberry!  Palm is forcing my hand here and running off a loyal customer that has bought one of (almost) every model since the original palm pilot, lo those many years ago.
Does anyone have a solution to the "installation was interrupted" issue on Windows Vista 64 ?

  • Help: Suggestions for a New (AT&T) Phone

We want an upgrade phone (AT&T). We tried a Blackberry 8110 but had continuous syncing problems that neither Blackberry or PocketMac could figure out. Mostly with Mac Address Book. In the end, they suggested a surgical cleaning program that could only be done on a PC. That's when I gave up after 6+ hours on the phone with these folks.
We have been looking at the Samsung Propel A767 as a possibility. We have an iMac G5, using OS 10.4.11. I would like to be able to sync this through iSync if that's possible (we have Bluetooth); or if not, through a cable connection. My wife needs iCal and Mac Address Book to sync. I looked at Data Pilot but they do not show the ability to sync iCal, and that is very important to my wife. I was even considering investing in Leopard, which I see opens up a few more possibilities on supported phones.
Can anyone offer a suggestion? She was hoping for a keyboard that looks like a computer keyboard as our "senior" eyes are sometimes challenged during texting.
    Thanks for any advice.

If you are already an at&t subscriber, the iPhone generally offers the best match to Mac OS X. Other options include using a Blackberry OS, Palm OS or Windows Mobile OS device AND the appropriate Missing Sync application from Mark/Space.
The RIM-sponsored and Information Appliance Associates-provided PocketMac option is, well, worth about what you paid for it, which is exactly nothing. Your experience would tend to bear this out, though others appear satisfied with their experiences.
Non-iPhone and non-smartphone options are likely limited to any Nokia and SONY-Ericsson models offered by at&t, as—unlike T-Mobile USA—at&t does not typically facilitate the use of any non-at&t provided unlocked GSM devices on its network. Technically feasible? Absolutely. But, as a matter of policy, they choose instead to 'lock in' subscribers and disallow devices they did not provide.

  • Can't delete calendars or events from iCal

I'm trying to delete Calendars from iCal, but after I delete them, they reappear. I've tried deleting the calendars and calendar cache from the user library, but to no avail. In addition, when I try to change or delete an event, it ends up duplicating the event so that there is multiple copies of the same event on the same day. I've tried to find someone else who has had this problem, but came up empty. Any suggestions? Can I get rid of iCal and reinstall it somehow?
P.S. there are multiple users on this computer, but only one of them uses iCal.

    Good question.
You do not have to remove the entire directory. However, there are other caches besides the com.apple.ical directory that may be present that can impact iCal's performance. These directories are often created by non-Apple programs involved in syncing (Entourage, Pocket Mac, Blackberry software, Palm Desktop software, etc.)
The question is, which caches might be there for each unique computer setup and are they doing something to iCal? That takes a great deal of work which few people are willing to do (not to mention you have to know which folders are the culprits)
Cache files are re-generated once the program that uses them is launched. I have never personally encountered a program that stored any vital data in the cache. Caches are (in general) used to improve program performance of an application during use, not to store data.
For users that are concerned about their caches, removing ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iCal/ is certainly an acceptable alternative (if not all encompassing).

  • Mobile phone enabling APEX 2.2.1?

    Hi there.
One of the clients for a project I'm working on has asked about mobile-enabling an application we're buliding in APEX 2.2.1. Specifically he mentioned WAP-enabling the site, but looking at the larger picture I think the feature would be better focused on setting up some sort of way for BlackBerry and PocketPC phone users to access the site. I've got a number of questions associated with this:
    - Am I correct in my assumption that all recent BlackBerry models and Pocket Internet Explorer versions will display pretty much any XHTML document? If so, is there a way to guarantee that APEX 2.2.1 will always generate an XHTML-compliant HTML doc? (I've got plenty of sw dev experience, but am relatively new to APEX, so forgive me if I'm asking a really basic question there.)
    - What about WAP? I haven't found anything that says APEX will generate WML pages, so I'm assuming that it won't. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.)
    - I've found a couple of HTML-to-WML converters online. If we need to push WML to a WAP browser and APEX won't support WAP, is there a way to decouple the process of APEX generating HTML content and Apache pushing the content to client browsers? My thought process is that if we need to push WAP content out, I could try to go APEX 2.2.1 -> HTML file output from APEX -> 3rd party HTML-to-WAP converter -> WML file output from converter -> Apache -> client browser. I know that Apache can be configured to serve WAP content; I've found plenty of references for that online.
    - If there's no way to have APEX serve up WAP content, and no way to decouple the process of generating the HTML page and having it be pushed out by Apaches, has anyone else come up with a solution (whether it's a true solution, work-around, or hack) that will let APEX support WAP?
    - What else is anyone else doing as far as pushing WAP content out to the world?
Yes, I realize that WAP is old-school, especially with the release of the latest crop of BlackBerry devices and with the advent of Windows Mobile 6. But as always, what the client wants is what the contractor will strive to deliver...
Thanks for any help in advance.

I built an APEX mobile app that Oracle uses internally for people search, so I've been down this path before. You can easily built a simplified template that works well on the following phones (as reported by our internal users):
    - Windows Mobile 5 and 6, Pocket PC Edition, Internet Explorer and Opera
    - Windows Mobile SmartPhone Edition
    - Nokia 9300 Communicator, Opera
    - MotoRokr E6 Linux PDAPhone
    - Nokia e62 Symbian
    - Sony Ericsson P990i and Opera
    - Treo 700p (Palm OS), Blazer
For Windows Mobile (my platform of choice), if you can influence the browser choice at all, Opera is a strong first, with IE on WM6 coming in second and IE on WM5 finishing in last place by a VERY wide margin.
I simply started with an almost empty template, then added the UI elements I needed.
APEX will NOT do WAP, nor do I think there is any way to make it do WAP. It absolutely requires JavaScript to run and I suspect that even if you got it produce WML, most WAP browsers wouldn't support JavaScript. I believe Oracle Application Server Wireless can translate an HTML app into WAP, but I've never used it.
From a development perspective, you can use the Opera browser to emulate Opera Mobile (more info here: Developing Apps for Smartphones but the best option is to get the free Windows Mobile Emulator from Microsoft. There's some good info on it here:
    http://www.amset.info/pocketpc/emulator.asp
You'll probably have to pay for an emulator for the blackberry and palm, but I wouldn't even consider starting a project like this without ensuring that all of my developers had relevant emulators for the target platform.
    Hope this helps,
    Tyler

  • Re: Netweaver mobile 7.1 and smartphone applications

    Hi Experts,
Im very new to SAP mobile applications. I have experience in developing applications using Webdynpro for ABAP. My queries are:
    1. If i have a webdynpro application can i launch it on smartphones?
    2. Why do we need a seperate SAP netweaver mobile 7.0 or 7.1 when we can design Webdynpro applications from earlier versions too.
    3. Why did SAP merged SYBASE to implement mobile applications when already we have netweaver mobile.
    4.  How to start a application which can be tested on Blackberry 9630 simulator. Do we need to follow some guidelines?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Asif.

    Hello Ashish,
NW Mobile 7.1 has two parts one is the DOE which is the mobile middleware and other is client (Handheld client) which has a perspective in NWDS to develop mobile apps & run them on a Windows Mobile device. The client is a seperate entity than DOE and it includes all implementations also for using DOE.
Yes you are right if you directly SAP web service or APIs then DOE does not come into picture and you will not be able to use DOE features.
SAP & Sybase provide blackberry client which talks to DOE. But in case you want to write your own custom client, then I suggest you would need to start writing the BB Apps & Client which can connect, sync, deploy from DOE.
RIM provides plugins for eclipse to model mobile applications like Android. You can use the same. It works both with standard eclipse & NWDS, since its a eclipse plugin. But this will only help you to write app which can say talk to SAP web services. But to connect to DOE you would need to write a thin client too which can take care of connection, synchronization, message download upload etc.

  • UI problems when accessing UWL

    Hi Portal experts and friends,
We are implementing the UWL in our company.
    Constraint:
The managers ( who are crazy   ) sometimes will be approving the flow being outside the company premises. For example, they might stay in a hotel with low bandwidth connection. In that case , accessing the portal will become serious performance drawback , it is not responding, time out issues etc.,
    How to avoid that ?
Possible options we could think of
    1) Changes the UI look and feel lo load very minimal content.
    2) Instead using the Portal , we are trying to develop a Z transaction in R/3 which will get connected to backed systems for the approval flow . Hence , we can use SAP GUI options ( slow connection ).
The main problem here will be UI  to access the UWL .
For the portal , what are the possible UI available ? ( i could think of only accessing through web browser )
If Web browser is the only way , any option of solving this performance problem  due low bandwidth connection ?
    Thanks
    Venkat

    Hi Venkat,
I know that some customers have shown the UWL on Blackberry.  Is this an option for you?  Here is some additional information for you.  Have a look at this post:
Accessing Universal Worklist (UWL) in SAP Portal from Blackberry  - it speaks about using the UWL API to display the worklist on a mobile phone.  Cool Stuff
Here is also another place where you can have a look.  There is a blog speaking about UWL and mobile apps.  Maybe this is also an option for you?
    Mobile SAP Portal
Finally if you would like more information on the JavaDocs for UWL, you will find the link in my sticky thread above.
I hope that this information was helpful to you!
