SAP R/3 to Oralce Database Connetion

Hi Experts,
Is it possible to connect SAP R/3 to Directly Oracle Database of a Non-ERP System ( Without any middleware).
Requirement:
I need to write the data from SAP R/3 to a Oracle Database of a NON-SAP system.
I heard that we can do it through configuring DBCON table
Do we need to do any other configuration to update the data from SAP to Oracle DB other than DBCON?

Hi,
Check this:
Re: Connecting and Updating External Database from SAP
and this:

Points, appreciated.

  • SAP / ABAP Query - using logical database

    Hi ,
    We have a mandate to implement SAP Query using only Logical Databases (LDB ) .
    We understand that there are several issues using this approach .
    1 ) Paralled tables in MM need to be displayed on separate lines .
    2 ) Statistics based on fields from 2 different tables cannot be produced eg: EKPO ( PO Number )  and EKKN . (Cost Center )
    Please share your experiences .
    Thank you in advance .

    Adeel,
    I do appreciate your experience and respect you for knowledge on SAP Query.
    Joining tables seem simple to IT experts but not so for end users.  SAP Query is an end-user tool and users seem to need a simple user-friend, drag-and-drop solution to extract information using SAP Query based on a pre-defined infoset.  Various SAP conferences have been advocating the use of SAP delivered Logical Databses to create infosets in order to harness the various advantages of LDBs.
    In MM there are several LDBs (e.g. ELM, EBM etc) to create queries on EKPO and EKKN.  The problem arises when you use the same LDB to extract information from more than the above two tables e.g. EKPO, EKET, EKKN and EKBE.  SAP expects you to display fields on multiple lines and also does not allow producing statistics based on fields from two parallel tables say EKKN and EKBE.  Moreover, multi-line reports cannot be produced in the ALV/SLV format.
    We are also looking for best practise solutions in providing SAP Query to MM or FI users based on SAP delivered Logical Databases.

  • Connecting SAP with an independent SQL database

    Dear all,
    I need to connect SAP with an independent MSSQL database.
    My requirement is to transfer a set of records from my Ztable to a table in SQL database.
    I have maintained the settings in DBCO transaction. I maintained DBMS as 'MSS' in DBCO.
    send some sample code of how to establish the connection. Is it possible to write data in to SQL database.
    How to edit the file tnsnames.ora in application server directories. I heard that for connecting to an oracle database we need to edit this , is it necessary to edit this tnsnames.ora even for connecting with SQL database?
    Thanks in advance.
    Lakshman

    This is not possible.
    My suggestion is that you create shell scripts on the unix side that copy the data to the other database.
    ARD runs it's own private copy of PostGgreSQL inside the package so it won't interfer with any other SQL databases on the network or even on the machine.

  • SAP BO Installation with Oracle Database

    Hello all,
    My client uses SAP R/3 with Oracle database. Now we have to install Business Objects on another machine.
    I've read the documentation on Installing Procedures but there are some questions still not clarified.
    1. Do I have to install Oracle in the new machine?
    2. If not, can I connect BOBJ to the database of the SAP R/3 Server?
    3. If I want to have three systems (Like in R/3, Productive, Tests and Development) do I have to install BOBJ in different machines?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards

    1. you dont have to insall Oracle database at the BO machine side, you just need any database to hold the BO repository.
    2. you cant connect directly using BO, only Crystal reports can connect directly to R3 database, you need to have a BW in between.
    extract your data into the BW, and let BO connect to BW using the BO integration kit for SAP solutions.
    3. no you dont have to have 3 different machines, using one BO machine you connect to them all, but you may need build a  BO environment, (Development, Production servers)
    good luck

  • No sap data found in the database SID !

    Hello All,
    While doing BI system copy activity, we are getting message as no sap data found in the database <SID>! and we could not able to proceed further.
    We have MS SQL 2005 as DB and Windows 2003 STD as our OS. We are doing the system copy through homogeneous system copy method (Backup / Restore).
    Before running SAPint we had deleted the old database then restored the database from the backup which we had taken of our production system.
    We also ran the SQL script user_change.sql as per the note # 551915 but in SAPint we are getting above mentioned error.
    Could you please help me in this regard ?
    Best Regards,
    Amit Vaij

    Hi at all, I have the same error. But I'm wondering about the assumption, that the schema renaming should be the root cause.
    I'm trying to copy a BI dual tack system on Windows/MSSQL database specific (http://scn.sap.com/thread/3380228)
    Now I'm defining the parameters in SAPINST (SoftwareProvMngr), so at the moment in no step I've to set up any old schema. Also I'm not at the step of defining the JAVA export.
    At the moment the SAPINST tool is trying to connect the main SAP DB.
    I attached and renamed the ABAP part of the DB. I will now try to detach the DB, I assume the SAPINST Tool will install to an empty DB. So if you attach a DB with a wrong schema it can not find any tables in the instance shema of the SID defined in SAPINST and it work... we will see...
    Detach was the wrong Idea... it seems there is any issue with the permissions...
    but R3trans -d works

    Hi Guenther,
    I've managed to bring up the SAP now after changing some parameters
    in the instance profile that are pointing to D:\. It's now up and
    running, but the dispatcher is in yellow colour. The status
    is "Running, Message Server connection ok, Dialog Queue time: 0.00 sec,
    J2EE status info unavailable". I did not select Java during the
    installation. Only ABAP was selected.
    I am able to login to the R/3 system now. I notice that there are some
    parameters in the instance profile are related to the Java like
    rdisp/j2ee_start, login/accept_sso2_ticket and etc. Is it possible that
    database backup that I used to restore was from a ABAP + JAVA system?
    Please see below for the dev_disp

  • SAP Business One and Moving Database Issue

    We are in the process of moving our PROD system to a new server. The server runs MS SQL 2005. We installed SAP Business One and by default the demo databases went to the C Drive (C:/Program Files/MS SQL Server/..../Data). The SQL Server that exists has data on D partition and logs on E partition. We therefore dettach the database, copy the files to the correct locations, and reattach.
    Now, however, the SAP Business One application no longer finds the Company or Demo databases. Is there any way to fix this?
    Cheers John

    you should post your question in the Business One section at SAP Business One Application

  • SAP Business One 8.8 Database

    I am using SAP Business One 8.8.
    In the middle of working in SBO 8.8, it suddenly shut down. When I tried to log in again, the list of companies dissapeared. Seems like there's no database connection. The server and database (Ms SQL server) seem to be up and running. We turn off and on Ms SQL server and it seemed to work now.
    According to our source, it indicated this has something to do with the policy in Ms SQL Server. Apparently, we took some companies within the database online and offline. This somehow trigger to lock the 'sa' access and disconnect the database. How do I prevent this from happening again? If this has to post in a different forum, i.e. Ms SQL Server, i will post there accordingly. Thanks.

    Hi Gordon,
    I checked the log files and it seems like user 'sa' was trying to access the database numerous times. This somehow trigger the Ms SQL Server policy and completely locked out ALL companies in the database. No one is using sa in the company.
    The only thing I can think of is when I test crystal report, it prompted 'sa' by default at the database login screen. I normally select 'integrated security' to bypass that screen. However, I was doing that for the past few months and never had problems until yesterday. The 'blank' screen of company list has happened twice.
    In SQL Server, I checked off 'enforce password security' for user sa. Will that be enough to fix the problem?

  • What is the Relation between SAP EP, SAP R/3 and any database

    Hi ALL,
    I am learning SAP EP,Webdynpro
    Previously I have worked on IBM WebSphere Portal for installation and configuration test purpose on different operating systems.
    In case of IBM webSphere Portal
    1. There is a default database named as Cloudspace
    2. I had configured WebSphere Portal with different databases(Oracle,sql,DB2) just by modifing some portal installation files.
    Similarly in case of SAP Enterprise Portal
    1. Is there any default database.
    2. How can we configure the portal with different databases(Oracle,sql,DB2)
    3. Why the SAP R/3 comes into the picture in case of SAP EP
    4. can we communicate to any database(Oracle,sql,DB2) through NetWeaver Developer Studio by writing any code or by setting any fields.
    Please help out me
    Regards
    Seshu

    Hi! Sesshanna,
       Welcome to SAP Enterprise Portal.
    1.Like IBM webSphere Portal,SAP EP is also have a default DataBase Named MaxDB, this database comes with portal installer and you need to install this DataBase as well.
    2.you will get a lots of document on SDN to configure the databases like(Oracle,sql,DB2), you need to make an entry in Visual Administrator(go.bat).But if you want to use DataBase in standalone application then you can use the same code which generally we use in any Java Code(Code written in point 4).
    3.You can use SAP R/3 as BackEnd to access R/3 RFC in WebDynpro application, which is used to develop any customized application.
    4.you can write the following code in any view or controller of the NWDS:--
    MessageManager msgMgr = (MessageManager)wdThis.wdGetAPI().
    getComponent().getMessageManager();
                    String  serverName = "172.21.1.62";
         String portNumber = "1526";
         String sid = "vision";
      String url = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@" + serverName + ":" + portNumber + ":" + sid;
         String userName = "scott";
         String password = "tiger";
         Connection connection = null;
         try {
          // Load the JDBC driver
         String driverName = "oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver";
         Class.forName(driverName);
         connection = DriverManager.getConnection(url, userName, password);
         Statement stmt =connection.createStatement();

  • SAP Netweaver 7.02 Delete Database Table log

    Hi,
    I'm having a problem with a database table(transparent table) that was deleted on an SAP Netweaver 7.02 system. Are there any logs where I can see who deleted the table?
    Thanks,
    Sergiu

    There is a header table in SAP CDHDR, may be you can find something there or if table loggin is enabled then perhaps you can get something on SCU3

  • SAP 2007 SP00 PL42 Demo database

    Hi Experts,
    I need a copy of SAP v2007 SP00 PL42 (or lower) SBODemoUK database for testing purposes.
    Where can I get this from?  My system is SAP v2007 SP01 PL05 and downgrading is not possible.
    Thanks
    Greig

    Greig,
    Probably the easiest way to do this would be to obtain a 42 or lower install package.
    Install the server components on a different machine outside of your environment.
    The demo DB would be installed as part of the setup, which you could then move from that instance of MSSQL to wherever you might need it.
    If you do not have access to the software downloads from SAP then the best place to start would be your reselling partner as they would be able to point you in the right direction.
    I hope this helps,
    Lucas
