I can't comment on your first two questions. Below are my understandings regarding opening more than one sessions at a time.
3.Are BUYERs allows to open more than one session like sourcing, redistibution workload, contract many - BUYERs open more than one time. what is SAP recommendations here on ITS sessions.
    4. What is good practice to work on only one ITS session(only sourcing) at a time or BUYER can open more than one web menus at a same time
Before SRM 7.0, when SRM is based on ITS technology, the each transaction is launched in-frame, instead of being in a new window. That to me can be seen as a potential way to discourage users to launch more than one transaction at a time. The main reason could be to avoid mutually exclusive actions, such as one transaction locking the other. Or even hindering the business data consistency, e.g. when data update happens nearly simultenously.
However since SRM 7, the standard approach has changed in this regard by allowing (or forcing) each process to be launched from ES Portal in a new window. Hence allowing the user to have multiple sessions open at the same time. This could be due to the real-estate/space limitation of Portal (since multiple applications could be sharing it, such as HR, SRM, etc).
In general, my take (NOT SAP offical recommentation) is that users should be given options to work on different transactions at the same time, as long as they are fully aware of the effect and consequences.

  • SAP recommends Queued Delta

Can anyone kindly point me to any document where SAP recommends we use Queued delta.
I've heard this several times but I just want a documentation by SAP that recommends we use Queued Delta instead of Direct delta.

Chk page 14 in this doc

  • Processes on App Servers: Is there a SAP recommendation?

    Hi All
Is there a SAP recommendation for the amount of Dialog, Update, Update2 etc processes that can be run on on an Application Server?
As we have multiple appservers (4GB RAM and 8GB RAM, Dual Core Xeon).
This is the only area we have not really reviewed since our upgrade to ECC6.
    Thanks
    Phil

    Hi Phil,
The calculation of wp distribution totally depends on the those questions which mark has asked as per my knowledge there is a standard with SAPfollows please go through the below detials:
    #dialog_WP = RAM / 256 (min 2, max 18)
    #update_WP = RAM / 768 (min 1, max 6)
    #update2_WP = RAM / 1024 (min 1, max 3)
    #batch_WP = RAM / 1024 (min 2, max 3)
    #enqueue_WP = 1
    #spool_WP = 1
I think with the above formula which is given you can calculate the maximum no.of work process that you can have on your app servers.

  • SAP recommended ninode  value for HPUX/Oracle

    Hi everybody,
as per the sap note 172747, SAP recommends the Kernel parameter "ninode" value to be 34816 for a SAP/Oracle/HPUX installation.
The current usage of inodes in one of the SAP systems shows  over 53% and in future we would like to increase the ninode parameter value. So I would like to the on which other OS kernel parameter values is the value "34816" based. Is there a defined calculation?
    Ker.Parameter  current       used
    nfile     65536     19519
    nproc     2560     499
    npty     60     3
    nstrpty     60
    nstrtel     60
    maxusers     256
    maxfiles     1024
    ncsize (DNLC)39936
    ninode     34816     18817
any suggestions on this would be of great help.
    Thaks,
    Gangadhar

Thank you  Venkatesh and Mauricio for the replies and sorry for the delayed reply.
    @Venkatesh
The SAP  system here is an application server only. Aditionally a middleware software "IBM MQseries" is installed on it which is acts as an interface for global data transfer. So i wanted to know if there is any defined calculation behind the sap note recommened ninode value.
    @Mauricio
To avoid recovery problems i think it is safe to have the ninode usage less than 50%. Especially when many disks are used and parallell restores are started.
I found some formulae in google search for ninode.
    ((NPROC16MAXUSERS)32(2*NPTY))
    (8*NPROC+2048)
    Nproc80(13*maxusers)
which means that ninode has dependecies on nproc, maxusers an npty
Below are the currently configured parameters.
    #kmtune -q nproc
Parameter             Current Dyn Planned                    Module     Version
    ===============================================================================
    nproc                    2560  -  (10*MAXUSERS)
    #kmtune -q ninode
Parameter             Current Dyn Planned                    Module     Version
    ===============================================================================
    ninode                  34816  -  34816
    #kmtune -q maxusers
Parameter             Current Dyn Planned                    Module     Version
    ===============================================================================
    maxusers                  256  -  256
    #kmtune -q npty
Parameter             Current Dyn Planned                    Module     Version
    ===============================================================================
    npty                       60  -  60
If the ninode value is increased which would result in ninode usage to be less than 50%, will there be any impact on system performance?
    Thanks in adavance

  • CUP Connector type SAP EP LDAP

    Hi Experts,
I noticed the connector type SAP EP LDAP the other day when setting up some new ABAP connectors.  Does anyone know what this type of connector is used for?  I couldn't find any documentation on it.

    Hi Christopher,
this is what I got told - I'm not sure whether this made it into the doco yet:
"  SAPEP  LDAP is used for LDAP Group provisioning. It will have 2 LDAP connectors mapped.  Internal and External.  In CUP you can import the  groups form these two ldaps and provision them using Access Request. "

  • SAP HR LDAP

    Hi,
im looking for a possibility to synchronize the employee data from HR with an directory service. Additionally i want to synchronize the data (like telephone number and adress) from the userstore with the data in HR. The aim is: if you change data like telephone number anywhere, all instances (HR, userstore, ADS) will be updatet with this changes.
Do somebody know a solution or a tutorial where i can find hints?
Perhaps it's possible to programm an Report to synchronize data between userstore and HR?
Message was edited by: Christoph Redlin

    Hi Christoph
I have dealt with the task to integrate LDAP and our HR system. We have used RFMs. I've chosen this way since I had developed a generic structure for all HR integrations before. However, SAP has some built-in functionalities for LDAP which may be helpful for your request. Try the tcode <b>"LDAP"</b>. SAP has an LDAP Connector component. It controls the access request of the SAP system to a directory server. Also inspect <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/10/1a063715c611d4b61f0000e835363f/frameset.htm">this link</a>.

  • What SAP recommends in ECC 6. Either SAPSCRIPT or SMARTFORMS?

    Hi all,
I want to know, what is the SAP's recommendation in ECC 6.0, whether to use sapscripts or smartforms for the important form print outs like purchase order, quotation, GR, GI, invoice, delivery note.
I knew that in ECC 6.0, for some cases, there are both sapscript and smartforms available, for example Purchase order, Delivery note, invoice etc.  In this case what is the SAP's recommendation? to use sapscripts or smartforms??
I heard that SAP does recommend.
    Awaiting your reply,
    Balaji

    Hi
These are few lines from sap help:
Smart Forms replace SAPscript forms. SAPscript forms will still be supported in the future; you can use them without making any changes for years to come. You can even use SAPscript texts in the Smart Forms.
Migration of SAPscript forms into Smart Forms is supported.
Even go through this link :

  • Sap recommendation as many lines code

    Hi,
Does anyone know of a rule or recommendation Sap in which you indicate a maximum number of lines to develop a program, function etc?.
    Do you have any documentation?
    Thank you very much

    In any ABAP goto menupath:

  • SAP to LDAP

    hi,
we are using Z_SAP_HR_LDAP to extract data from SAP HR to LDAP. we have some other attributes listed as well. its working fine.
    the problem is:
if we enter the joining date of an employee as in the future (after the current date) and enter all the details like organization assignment, personal data etc it does not show the org details which it was displaying before ie, when the joining date is before the current date for other records.
i am not an expert in ABAP. So can anyone help me with whether the program does any validation on date and if so where?
    pls do help!!

  • Single stack vs. Dual Stack - Why does SAP recommend single stack?

    Hello SAP,
I am a business partner who specializes in infrastructure consulting for SAP solutions.  The SAP Consultants I am working with recently have been recommending that customers install single stack systems.  I would like to know why? Are there problems with dual stack systems?  Is SAP changing things in a later release and they want customers to be prepared for the change?
From an infrastucture point of view this recommendation combined with SAP NetWeaver architecture will result in an explosion of SID names which leads to an explosion of application server instances and DBMS instances and an explosion of installed servers.  I know it is possible to combine SIDs into a single DBMS using MCOD and to have multiple application servers in a single physical server, but there are issues with mulitple application server instances and MCOD use which make normal maintenance operations difficult.
I think it would be much better for customers to install dual stack systems and simply adjust the SAP profile parameters to disable one stack or the other.  This way, you could still have 1 stack per application server instance and you would not be have to be creative with SAP SID names!!!  Creating a DBMS instance or installing an additional server is not a simple nor economical proposition.
    Regards,
    Zaz

I am a business partner who specializes in infrastructure consulting for SAP solutions.  The SAP Consultants I am working with recently have been recommending that customers install single stack systems.  I would like to know why? Are there problems with dual stack systems?
    The problems are:
    - difficult to size and maintain - Java + ABAP will fight for resources (memory,CPU) and there´s not much one can do to tune if either ABAP or Java as dual stack instance on a single box is running nuts (for whatever reason).
    - System copies via R3load - if you want to copy a huge system (let´s say ERP 6.0 + Java stack) you need to use sapinst + R3load to do the copy. Imagine if the system is 1 TB or bigger, this is very time consuming
    - Upgrades are complicated - if you upgrade a dual stack system you need to run two PREPARES and two upgrades at the same time - there are sync points each upgrade wait for the other to finish --> difficult to plan in sense of runtimes and even more notes/preparation to do (a dual stack SolMan upgrade from 3.2 to 4.0 had almost 100 notes (technical!) and two upgrade preparation guides...)
    - interdependencies - example: you run ERP + EP + BI-Java on one system. You upgrade your BI (which is on a different box) to a new support package. Since the BI-Java need to be in sync with the BI ABAP support package you need to upgrade the EP too - and since there´s a direct dependency (doublestack system) you will need to install support packages on your ERP. So you finally end up in having dependency chains that a total different system (BI) will force you to upgrade/patch your ERP. And if you have e. g. a CRM connected to the same EP you will need to patch that too...
Is SAP changing things in a later release and they want customers to be prepared for the change?
No - the possibility of having a dual stack installation will be still there.
I agree - MCOD is not a good solution for this problem.
There are 36 * 36 * 36 (minus a few reserved) names for SIDs- this should be enough - also for the biggest customers
Of course one could install both and disable the one you don´t need - but this won´t help in dependency thing. If you e. g. install a dual stack instance for CRM and disable the Java part, you can nicely run it. In case of an upgrade, you will need to upgrade the Java part too (see above) although you don´t use it. The upgrade will detect the doublestack and wait for the java instance to be upgraded too. Same is true vice versa. And believe me: you don´t want that
In fact it is better to separate - that´s at least our experience. The main no-go for such a configuration on our side was the dependency thing. Since they are there and you can´t do much about them we decided to have a 1:1 relationship for ABAP backend and Java "frontend". You will get more instances (and names and databases) but you can patch applications independently from each other. So an implementation of a  BI patch won´t imply that you finally also patch your ERP production and other systems that connect to that portal.
There are virtualization techniques available to not need more boxes, you can consolidate them on one machine as if you were installing a dual stack so that is not really an issue. This depends, of course, on the platform and database you use (e. g. Oracle does not support production installations in VMWare). We use for our Java instances Solaris on Opteron (or Intel 64bit) and zones/containers and for the ABAP part we use Linux + Xen. Both virtualization methods come with the OS (so no additional $$$) and both are supported by SAP.
The propagated advantage of having a dual stack installation (shared memory access etc.) is so small that it doesn´t outban the additional complexity - which is definitely there.
I hope those arguments will help to understand SAPs (and the consultants) position - get back if you want more

  • SAP recommendations for locking transactions

    Hi, Sappers.
I recall seeing a document a while back that had a list of "sensitive" or "critical" transactions that were "recommended" to be locked at the customer in accordance with SOX or audit compliance.
I asked an external audit company about this list and the response was that this list/document was an SAP document - around general "good practices" in security.
Does anyone know where or how I can get hold of that document, or something similar please? I am currently at a customer who is looking for some guidance in this area.
    Thanks and regards,
    Des Olwage

    Well Jose,
There are different ways to access PSCD data and show it in Portal... for instance... you can give access to the Tx FPL9 through the Taxpayer Online Services (TPOS) portal. Ask your BASIS and EP guys to activate TPOS and create users for the taxpayers... remember that you'll need to buy extra licences for all the taxpayers you're willing to offer this service.

  • What is SAP recommended approach to create multiple Sender Idoc_AAE adapters channels?

    Hi All,
We have more than 100 interfaces which receives Idocs from multiple SAP ECC Systems. What is the best approach to use Idoc_AAE sender adapter with multiple communication channels for One system and for multiple SAP systems as well.
    Q) How many communication channels we can assign or bind to one Resource Adapter(Assume InboundRA)?
    Q) What is performance impact if we create more Resource Adapter to Connect multiple SAP System?
Please share your views to create multiple Idoc_AAE sender communication channels to connect one SAP ECC Systems?
    Regards,
    Sreeramulu Konjeti.

Hi Vertika - It should work without changing the occurrence as it's on the sender side...
In your mapping, you would receive all the IDOC's though the occurrence is 0..1...
Just simply paste the payload in the test tab and see.. it should not throw any error..

  • Why SAP recommends backup cycle of 28 days

    Hi,
SAP reccomends backup cycle of 28 days, can anyone explain why it is 28 days? Any logic for keeping backup cycle of 28 days?
    Jay

This is a month - and just an avg. number of days to keep the backups.
The necessary cycles are defined by your organization, it may be more or less.
