Shipment costing following requirement must be met
1. you must mark shipment as relevant for shipment costing
2. the shipment must have the required total status as set in the definition of the shipment cost type
3. the shipment must have a transportation status of at least planned
4. shipment must have a service agent
5. customising for the shipment cost pricing must be set
spro-- logistics execution-- transportation- shipment  costs-pricing- ( this setting)
6. finally condition records must eb maintained
CALCULATION OF SHIPMENT COSTS
1. By using the transportation planning point, service agent shipment cost item category and shipping type the system determines a pricing procedure for shipmetn cost item
2. the system determines shipment costing calculation basis for the individual condition types in the pricing procedure ( eg costing carried out per container and stuff)
3. then normal condition record is searched in pricing  proc .
Hope this gives clarity to your question
Cheers

  • Career as SAP analyst/consultant

    Hi,
I am exploring the option to build my carrier in SAP analyst/consultant field.
I have more than 5 years of experience of sales and business management in automotive industry. At the same time I have worked on or used SAP as a business user for these 5 years.
I am quiet conversant with the business process, material movement, orders/approval flows etc.
I have the desire and will but I am looking for some answers to convenience myself that it will be a good decision to move in this direction financially and in terms of career growth also. It would be a big help if you could answer the questions below, before I make my final decision. I would request you SAP Gurus to please guide me.
Some of the agencies (AtoS and some others) I have got in touch with to discuss this certification have suggested doing SAP SD or MM certification, keeping my experience in view. If I do it what is your guess how soon I could find a job with this certification.
What kind of salary will I be able to attract if I do get a job. Currently I am getting good salary by auto industry standards (around $15K). As per the information I have got the starting salaries in these roles are some times less than half of what I am getting now.
Finally how fast is the growth in this industry? Let us say I do the certification spend some $500 and join a company with salary less than half of my current. After doing this, as per your experience how soon will I be able to reach or exceed the salary I would have been getting otherwise (assume I perform fairly well in my SAP role ;-).
So finally should I go ahead with the certification?
Rather than an instinctive one, I want to make a well thought over, planned and fairly well estimated decision. I am looking forward to your valuable answers.
    Thanks

I am trying to reply all the bullets in your post one by one.

for training and certification you can go to any SAP authorized institute , you can find many depends upon which country you are presently staying.
What kind of salary will I be able to attract if I do get a job. Currently I am getting good salary by auto industry standards (around $15K). As per the information I have got the starting salaries in these roles are some times less than half of what I am getting now.
if you are already at $15K  (1,50,000 US Dollar if i correctly understand)  then you are earning much higer then a SAP consultant having a decade experience in SAP. Better look for management job. If salary is the criteria.
Finally how fast is the growth in this industry? Let us say I do the certification spend some $500 and join a company with salary less than half of my current. refer the above one
So finally should I go ahead with the certification?
Certification is optional , if you just have user level experience you may not be knowing all what comes within an module, i still recommend training as it give you all back ground about SAP and you can understand most of the master data piece to create a right foundation for a module.
    Hope this will help you.

  • BO - Future for the SAP BW Consultant

    Hello Experts
Can anyone (preferably from SAP themselves) explain what the future of the SAP BW/BI Consultant will be now that BO is the main focus for the future?
What is recommended as the path forward for an existing SAP BW/BI Consultant so that they can remain employable?
    Regards
    Sean

Think of the marriage of SAP BW and Business Objects as really being "best of both worlds". SAP BW, in the past and up to today, really doesn't have good tools for the presentation of reports and that's where Business Objects really shined.
On the other hand, Business Objects have Rapid Marts which are great for quickly getting reporting started, but only for detailed, operational type reporting in a subject area silo approach. SAP, however, is a complete data warehouse by definition whereby you have data marts, operational data stores and star schemas in order to support analytic reporting with drilldown capabilities.
Well, that's where SAP is going with SAP BW and Business Objects. The front-end tools will be moving to Business Objects tools where are far superior over legacy SAP front-end tools. On the back-end, the only changes being made is that Business Objects Data Integrator will be introduced into the SAP BW space for ETL of non-SAP source systems (e.g. PeopleSoft, Taxware, etc) and as a pre-PSA translation tool using extractors for SAP source systems. The standard content, whether on SAP applications or in SAP BW, that SAP has developed is not going away and is still going to be enhanced. They will, however, offer Rapid Marts as a solution for quick implementation and for smaller companies.
So, the knowledge that any good, experienced SAP BW consultant has won't be trashed. They'll have to learn some more tools however, which isn't really a bad thing.

  • Some question about SAP CRM consultant

    Dear all,
I'm a center-based consultant in china. Our company is among the first batch to run SAP CRM in china in 2006.Our version is CRM 5.0.From my two years' working experience, the status of using CRM in our company is not very good.Complex UI,sychrorize problem makes our partner not willing to use this system.
I used to do some ABAP developing then i began to transfer to MM&SD.CRM work is the recent thing.During some months' work in CRM,i found i am more interesting in CRM.
I want to find a new job in outside consulting company in future.I want to focus on CRM.One aspect is that i'm interested in CRM.The other is that CRM is a new product and there is not so many people doing this. However,i seems getting some worries.First,SAP CRM seems not quite mature just from my understanding in 5.0 version. We  need to develope a lot not just using User-exit.I don't know whether 7.0 has changed a lot.I've seen the UI of 7.0.It seems much better. But is it means more company will choose SAP CRM 7.0 other than Siebel? In china, there seems not many CRM projects now and i don't know the status in other countries.Second,CRM may have much differences from ERP implementation because there are many process which can't be solidified.
In one word,i'm worried about CRM consultant's future. And i hope gurus to give me the answers.THx.

    Hi Feng
It would be very intersting to clients as well as consultants to work on SAP CRM. Career wise you have ample opportunities in the same. With the advent of various features in CRM 7.0 version, SAP is now more user friendly and is easy to implement with lot many processes covered as a part of vanila offer.
I wish you all the best and hope this helps.
    Regds,

  • Junior SAP FICO Consultant job

My name is Yunlong. I graduated on Dec. 2013. I joined a project as a SAP FICO consultant last Jun, and work there till this Jan. I also have about 2 years experience in FICO back in China. Now I am on STEM extension, it will expire on next July. I am looking for a company who is willing to offer me H1B sponsorship. Please contact me at email [e-mail address removed: violation of The SCN Rules of Engagement] if interested or have any suggestions. Thanks a lot.

This is not the appropriate place for posting availbility for jobs; BUT, we could still make this a useful thread.
We have many folks post that they've graduated from college and would LIKE to get a chance to learn some SAP, but can't seem to get that initial break.
How did you manage to get picked up on a real project straight out of college? Were you recruited directly while you were still in school? Was this a paid position? An internship? Did you have any SAP training prior to getting the job? If not, did you receive any training after getting the job?
Please tell us more as there are many, many folks on this forum that would love to be in your shoes.
    So...
as far as finding sponsorship for H1B visa...
Let me sugest a different way to approach this which is actually allowable in this forum.
If you ask... "What is the best way to get H1B sponsorship for US VISA?"  Then you might get some useful answers.
My suggestion is to google "H1B sponsorship SAP",
When you do that, you'll get a bunch of links for job openings from companies willing to sponsor H1B visas.
There are other ways to do this as well.
I have heard (but do not have direct experience) about companies that will sponsor your visa as an "employer of record" (EOR). This requires a bit of explanation. I am a US citizen and use a company (which doesn't sponsor H1B visas) as an employer of record. (In Europe, they call this umbrella corporation, I believe). The way it works, is that I am essentially an independent contractor. I drum up my own business as a freelance consultant. Once I've lined up the gig, the EOR handles all of the billing, invoicing, collections, and payroll. They make sure all of the correct taxes are withheld, etc. I also have access to their insurances (errors & omisions, liability, etc) which is generally required of independent consultants as well as benefits like long term disability, short term disability, life insurance, etc. I used to use their health insurance as well, but now I use insurance that I purchased through the "Obamacare" health exchange.
For the privilege, the EOR takes a percentage of your gross revenues. In my case, it's quite reasonable. In the case of an H1B sponsor EOR, my guess is they take a pretty big chunk.
Anyway, I wish you luck on your search. Please post your resume on an appropriate job board (Monster, Dice, indeed, etc) and LinkedIn for future job search actions.
    Hope this helps!
    Best regards,
      --Tom

  • SAP HR Consultant Jobs for Fresher.

    Hello Friends,
I am having 2.5 years of end user experience in SAP HR Module.
Recently i have completed my SAP HR Training from Non Authorized institute.
Please guide me for the next steps to explore my self to becoming a SAP HCM consultant and getting a job in SAP HCM Consultant field.

Though End-Users may be using the system extensively, Consultants are responsible for initial data load. We need to load the existing data from legacy system into the newly configured SAP system. Consultants are responsible for doing a training session on how these data need to be processed in future.
In simple terms, consultants lay the road and help the end users how to use the road. Since the end users are new to these roads, consultants own the responsibility of loading the data into system.

  • What are the Essentials for a Sap Security Consultant.

    Hi Gurus,
I have completed a Implementation in which I alone handled the entire Security . It is a defense client .
Now I am technically expert at security. But I have no functional knowledge.
Implementing Security in SAP one needs to have knowledge of funtional process as well. The course that are purely technical stuff and I have good idea of techincal stuff.
The Question is what is a Sap Security Consultant expected to know . And how to go about acquiring that knowledge?

    Hi Hussain,
There is a little bit of release-dependent-everything in this thread: Authorization for VAP2 in conflict with VD02 for F_KNA1_GRP
Try solve it and you will understand that you need the requirements (without that you are anyway doomed) and the knowledge and the appropriate access to create / test it.
BAPI's are remote enabled stable interfaces to SAP standard functionality. They are the best examples of combining functional, technical and standard skills in a sustainable way without creating a mess (a mess, way beyond the bounds of your concerns...).
If you learn to use the available tools and information sources, then you dont need to stress about the essentials, even if your customer makes a design error before or after your advice.
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • Pro's and cons of becoming SAP functional consultant

    Dear All,
I am shifting towards SAP functional consulting job. I want to know the Pro's and con's of SAP functional consultant job.

You can unload a lot of work on the technical consultant / developer and let him join the logical dots of what you're trying to design, and you get paid 50% more on top, now how's that?
All you need to do is look business and talk business.
    Thomas
    P.S. wait, I'm a technical consultant, arrrgh...

I am a SAP Netweaver Consultant , want to know from all the SAP Experts out here that according to you which are the highest paying modules in SAP ? rank them.

    Hi S. Vishwam.
Many peoples says that BI , APO , BW and HANA are the highest paying modules.
But with the passage of time the value of the professional decreases because many people go work with this modules then ...supply and demand = decreases.
Only the people that really knows continue making lots of moneyand the characteristic of these people are the same:
They always read the SDN community of his modules.
They really study the sap help.
They do not want to make lots of money early on.
    Hope helped you.

  • Questions WORKFLOW OF SAP BW Consultant in Project

    Hellooooooo Exeperts,
Need few  answers in understanding the SAP BW Workflow in a Company..Any ANswers to the questions would be highly appreciated as this would help me in making it easier before joining my job..
Please answer the below questions concering an OFFSHORE
BW Consultant working for Imlementation Project..Bcoz thats where i would be standing
    1) what exactly are the responsibilities of an SAP BW Consultant in implementation Project?
how does they differ from development project?
    2) how will be the work flow right from creation of the project specs (both technicaland functional) to the go-live implementation, how does the peolpe at various hierarchy levels fit in this scenario? like who creates the specs, wher do they send it, who is responsile to verify them? from which point SAP BW Consultant is involved in project, whom should he report to? this kind of work flow..( Related to OFFSHORE DEVELOPMENT CENTER)
    3) What r the responsibilities of onshore and offshore people in an implenentation project, what do u mean by a client steering committee, how r they seperate from the rest of the people in the project?
    4) How would a technical spec look like any screen shots?......how do they come to u in a soft
or hard copy?....Whom do u approach in case of any clarifictions?....can you specify how the
offshore development centre hierarchy is defined who r the people involved here?
5)Wher will an implementation BW Consultant work in real time( Dev, Prod, or sand box)servers.
after creating the objects needed we transort to QA, how will be the work flow related to
transportation of objects and work flow of handling transport request errors when they arise?
like who reports the errors to whom? this ort of flow..
    6) whats the duration of work in DATA Modelling part of the project, how much time does it
take to model objects like cubes, ODS etc by customizing Business Content to satisfy
    business requirement?...
    7) How often do we interatct with the client or any onsite consultants?
    8) what exactly are the roles and resonsibilities of functional, technical people in SAP implementation project?
    9) Does LO's and LIS Differentiate Master and Transaction Data in the extraction Process?

    >I am interested to find out , what all could be the roles of a PI consultant in a given SAP implementation barring the usual Interface design and implementation. ?
Some knowledge in basis and PI admin is an added plus as I have found from experience that basis is not quite sure of how to solve PI basis issues and many a time comes back to the consultant for help/clarification.
Roles would obviously depend on the project scope but in general we can put them as design, develeopment, testing, some basis/admin roles, scope determination as to where we need to use PI etc.
    >In an average, how much of Functional knowledge , a PI consultant would require to have to be successful in an END-END implementation???
Some functional knowledge will always be an added plus but considering that a PI consultant might need to work with different areas, so knowledge in all such areas is definitely not possible.
    >What other skills are expectant out of a PI consultant to make him stand apart?
some basic java knowledge (string handling, java beans), Abap knowledge plus knowledge in the SOAP protocol, xml/xsd handling, SOA is sometimes required.
