  • ARIS Process Hierarchy

We have been using ARIS for process modeling. When ARIS was first installed 3 years ago the IDS consultant suggestd that we go with a 4 level process hierarchy, as follows:
    Level 1 Process Group (VACD)
    Level 2 Scenario (EPC)
Level 3 Process (EPC column display)
    Level 4 Process step (FAD)
Ann Rosenberg's modeling handbook (http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ModHandbook/Process+Hierarchy) suggests a 6 level hierarchy as best practice. There are a few things I find confusing about this hierarchy. For example,
    - Why are FAD diagrams not used in level 6 diagrams?
    - How do business scenarios fit it and how are they similar to / different from process variants?
    - How can chunks of processes be reused if each process variant drills down to its own EPC? The way we have it set up in the 4 level hierarchy above, each scenario is a sequence of processes, so processes can be reused. For example, scenario A is defined as process 1 > 2>3, whereas process B is defined as process 1 --> 3. In the handbook example, it looks like each process variant is a single VACD function, which to me implies the underlying EPC has to cover everything in that variant.
I am also concerned whether our 4 hierarchy would work as well when synchronizing to Solman. We haven't been doing the synchronization yet, but likely will in the near future. The IDS consultant told us it would work when it was installed.
If anyone has used the hierarchy in Ann's handbook could you point me to some examples and let me know how well iit's working? Also can you see any major deficiencies with the 4 level hierarchy that would compel us to switch to the handbook structure?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
In our company we have a process oriented hierarchy and End to End processes.
    Process oriented hierarchy
Level 0 - Global process map (VACD in ARIS, not in SOLMAN)   "Company map"
Level 1 - Main Scenarios (VACD in ARIS, Dummy scenario in SOLMAN) "Purchasing"
Level 2 - Scenario (VACD in ARIS, Scenario in SOLMAN) "Direct purchasing"
Level 3 - Process (EPC in ARIS, Process in SOLMAN)  "Create Purchase order"
Level 4 - Process step (Function with a FAD iin ARIS, process step in SOLMAN) "create P.O. output"
Level 5 - Guidelines/rules EPC or FAD in ARIS, not in SOLMAN)
Level 3 can have different variants and can be reused in different end to end scenarios.
Level 2,3 and 4 is synchr. with SOLMAN.
So far this is working well in supply chain and sales processes. We ancitipate some challenges (more levels/details) when we come to the finance processes.

  • Sap-ps process

can anybudy tell me the sap-ps process like sales process in sd ....

    Hi Arvind,
SAP PS helps in formalising any large or small size projects. Like buidling a boeing to conducting a trade fair can be fit in SAP PS.
It is nothing but breaking down the total effort/work into manageable chunks and accounting the total effort.
The basic structure of sap ps is below:
    Project Definition->WBS elements->Networks-> Activities->Internally/Externally processed activities -> Material components
After the project has been defined, it would be further devided into Work Breakdown Structures and further to networks and activities. These activities will be assigned with material components/Manual effort if required.
Criteria of deviding a project into subsections and elements would depend on the hugeness and complexity of the project.WBS is the first element in hierarchy for planning the tasks, material and manual effort. Networks help in giving a proper sequence to the tasks.work packages/activities sub devide the work in minute level with the qualitative and quantitative details.
Please let me know if you need any further info..
    Thanks

    - update-UPD, used for asynchronous updates, e.g v1 and v2. this type not used in BW.
    - enqueue-ENQ, used for locking and unlocking objects.
    - spool-SPO, used for execute print requests.
more info on batch job :
    1. where ?
load process, aggregate rollups, infocube compression.
the job name can be identified start with BI_xx e.g :

  • SQVI Report for SAP CRM Product Hierarchy and its Product

    Hi
How to create a SQVI report for generating a list for SAP CRM Product Hierarchy which should show the outputs->Level 1, level 2, level 3 and level 4 categories and its products?
I tried COMM_Hierarchy table and Comm_product but not able to achieve this requirement.
or Is there any chance of getting related tables so that I could try more for this requirement.
In which table both product id and its category Id can be found?
    Pravin

    Thanks DJ
Is there any possibility to get a report for product hierarchy in SQVI ?
say in SAP CRM system, the product category is maintained in COMM_HIERARCHY as
    Parent category Id->
                                    Level2 Category Id->
                                                                     Level 3 Category Id->
    Level 4 category Id ->
    Product Id's
(I understood the link between Level 4 category id and product id with your info.) but not able to achieve the requirement fully.
Is there any possiblity to achive for generateing a report?

    Sarma Sishta

    Hi,
This was one of the good session...
    Especially the features such as;
-- TCP/IP connection control with JMS adapters
    -- Empty file Handling
-- Set the various Attributes for Mail attachments via dynamic configuration (intially only subject line was possible)
    -- Message Prioritization
-- single IDOC Ack for IDOC Packaging
    -- IDOC packaging
    -- and many more........................
Even the future indicatioon of IDOC J2EE based adapter will provide new direction to the existion IDOC related scenarios..
One thing that was changed in IDOC packaging is to control it via Sender Communication channel...intially we were doing it either via ECC system or with t-code "idxpw"
Its almost in same way...but from J2EE based adapter perceptive IDOC packaging will be available with Java stack...and will no need to depend only ABAp stack for this feature.
    Thanks
    Swarup

  • SAP Dialog Process Number

    Dears:
I just finish installation of my ECC 6.0 server. Now i want to change the number of the SAP dialog process. And do you know if there is any calculate formula to use so that i can know how many dialog process i should set for the server?

    Hello,
That depends on the no of users that are going to logon.
For windows based operating system, it depends on the no of processors you have in the server.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/02/962817538111d1891b0000e8322f96/frameset.htm
While increasing the no of work process, you need to note that per work process, you have to assign 50 MB to 60 MB of memory, depending on the SAP release and operating system.

    Debasis.

  • SAP business processes - HR

    Hi gurus,
Can you please tell me where I can find standard SAP business processes (not any client specific) ?
For example, 1. Benefits - from enrollement, changes, termination.
    2. Payroll - Hire employee, maintain pay roll area, payroll status, then maintain IT 07, 08 ,,, then run Payroll Run program(what is the program name), then how to transfer the results to FI.
    3. Time - what are the infotypes maintained (why), then what/which is the time evaluation program, how the time results used in calculation of Payroll...
Please let reply if you have any general idea where to search for this (any module is ok)?
    Can some one please help?
    thanks,
    Rupali.

    Hi Rupali,
There is not really any such thing as "standard business processes". There are best practices, but generally these are not really documented. Business processes vary from business to business. SAP has functionality and the ability to adapt the system to meet many business process scenarios.
    Best regards,
    Luke

  • Rloe Creation in the SAP template process

    Hello,
Our Company is a subsidiary co. of a German based MNC Co. who have a global presence in Europe, America & Asia.
Our compnay is the first subsidiary Co. for roll out of SAP templet process and later on the same templet process has been rolled out in America & Asia. Our MNC co. has trageted to rolled out the same templet process for all the subsidiary Co. globally.
Under the global template process, presently, we are using the SAP standard roles and user specific roles for the transactions authorisation.
We being a subsidiary co., developing the Role based transaction authorisation matrix and would like to define the same in Global SAP Template.
    Questions:
    1. Being a SAP global templet process, whether this new role based trasaction authorisation roles can be define for our subsidiary Company in the templet?
    2. If , the answer is no what is the alternative remedy.
We would be glade to know the answer.
    Thanx & Regards

    Hi Prasad,
Yes it is possible. You will have to use handling units only as shipping units in the outbound delivery packing function. The handling unit can be defined during the transfer order confirmation (you have this in LT12 as packing) or in the delivery after the TO confirmation. You can only perform packing before goods issue.
I hope i'll helps you lot
    Regards
    Madhu

  • SAP GRC Process Control - General Questions

    Hi all,
We have the following general questions regarding SAP GRC Process Control:
    1) Assume that we have set up 5 different SAP Connectors in Process Control. When you configured a specific rule and control and then, schedule the job for such control, how does the system (SAP Process Control) knows which back-end system needs to be accesed for such control?
    2) In which language are the out-of-the box rule steps's script coded? In which different languages can those scripts be coded, what is to say, in which language can we code our own scripts?
    3) How is the detailed flow between SAP Process Control and SAP Back-end system?
    Many thanks. Regards,

  • SAP Implementation Process !!!

    Hi Folks,
I need brief information about the SAP implementation process. As per the ASAP Methodology we have different phases involved in the entire implementation process from Project preparation,Blue print analysis,Realization,Final Preparation and Go Live Support.
I did not involve myself into implementation. Being a Basis consultant I would like to know what is the involvement of basis consultant in each phase in detail and what are the activities being carry out by a basis team, what would be the avg team size and what would be the duration of the project approximately. I know it depends on the project and modules being used, architecture and all. i just wanted to know the rough details for information.
I would really appreciate for any useful information.
    Regards,
    Vinod

    Hi Viond,
Please find below an elaborated details for SAP Implementaion.
The ASAP (Accelerated SAP) Roadmap provides the methodology for implementing and continuously optimizing your SAP System. It divides the implementation process into five major phases and offers detailed Project Plans to assist you (Microsoft Project format). The documentation stored at each level of the Roadmap tree structure contains recommendations on implementing your SAP System and links to helpful tools and accelerators. We use SAP Solution Manager for the same and define the steps and this information can be transformed into MPP.
The implementation of your SAP System covers the following major phases:
    Project Preparation
In this phase you plan your project and lay the foundations for successful implementation. It is at this stage that you make the strategic decisions crucial to your project:
Define your project goals and objectives
Clarify the scope of your implementation
Define your project schedule, budget plan, and implementation sequence
Establish the project organization and relevant committees and assign resources
Sizing for the SAP Servers (SAPS) Important for Basis.
    Business Blueprint
In this phase you create a blueprint using the Question & Answer database (Q&Adb) older versions and now it has been replaced by new value adds from SAP in Solution Manager, which documents your enterpriseu2019s requirements and establishes how your business processes and organizational structure are to be represented in the SAP System. You also refine the original project goals and objectives and revise the overall project schedule in this phase.  In short its As is >> To be its from from functional consultant (mapping of business process) Basis will be involved how and when backup will be taken what 3rd party/vendor will be used, how users will be handled (CUA or normal procedure).
    Realization
In this phase, you configure the requirements contained in the Business Blueprint. Baseline configuration (major scope) is followed by final configuration (remaining scope), which can consist of up to four cycles. Other key focal areas of this phase are conducting integration tests and drawing up end user documentation. Major part will be creation of transport requests and transportation to QAS system. Configuration of SAProuter, Solution manager and its various configuration
    Final Preparation
In this phase you complete your preparations, including testing, end user training, system management, and cutover activities. You also need to resolve all open issues in this phase. At this stage you need to ensure that all the prerequisites for your system to go live have been fulfilled...Final Check.
    Go Live & Support
In this phase you move from a pre-production environment to the live system. The most important elements include setting up production support, monitoring system transactions, and optimizing overall system performance.
You can also download an HTML version of the ASAP Core Roadmap 7.1 on [SAP Services Marketplace - ASAP Roadmaps and Run SAP Roadmaps|http://service.sap.com/asap] (SMP login required).
    All the best !

  • System Copy SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1 documentation incorrect

I am trying to a Homogeneous System Copy on PI 7.1 SP07.  I don't want to do a
Copying the Primary Application Server Instance Only
Because (as the documentation says) "As of SAP NetWeaver based on kernel 7.1, you can copy a primary application server instance only. With this procedure you can move a primary application server instance to a different host within your system."
I don't want to move my system to another system.  I just want to do a Database refresh. That option is not available when I run SAPINST.
I see the option for database refresh in the manual, but it's not a sapinst selection
6.3Copying the Database Only u2013 Refresh
With this procedure you can refresh the content of an existing database without having to copy the primary application server instance and to reinstall additional applications servers.
I'm using the latest SAPINST and I have the correct DVD from Service Marketplace.
This database refresh option appears in both the "distributed system" selection under system copy --> target --> distribute system.
"SAP NetWeaver Process Integration -> Software Life-Cycle Options --> System Copy -->  Target System --> Distributed System --> Based on AS ABAP and AS Java --> Database Refresh or Move".
Is that the correct choice?  Why is the documentation wrong?
"SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1 including Enhancement Package" and "System Copy for SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1".  So it must be correct (I think).
I do see the database refresh option under the "

Thanks for the reply.  So I would do this:
"Copying the Primary Application Server Instance Only
Because (as the documentation says) "As of SAP NetWeaver based on kernel 7.1, you can copy a primary application server instance only. With this procedure you can move a primary application server instance to a different host within your system."
and then do the "database refresh" option under "distributed systems"?
    Is that correct?
