SAP Solution Manager Implementation on iSeries

Hi All,
Is it possible to install SAP Solution Manager on iSeries with an existing SAP R/3 installed? If so, is it advisable to install SAP SOLMAN in an iSeries machine with SAP R/3 Production system? Can you also send me documents related to SOLMAN installation on iSeries? Thanks!

You will have to load the Unicode kernel and here is the link to OSS where you can get get the download of SOLMAN for AS/400
https://websmp110.sap-ag.de/solutionmanager , then choose this one: ZIP 51033506_7 NW 7.0 SR3 UC-Kernel 7.00 OS/400 Info 550479 24.04.2008 .
The install manuals are out there as well.

I get to know that use of SAP solution manager is mandatory for SRM 7 implementation. is it true?
what is the best practice to manage a SAP SRM implementation project? should we manage the project in SAP SM or outside of it?

Hi Ranjan,
Solution Manager is not mandatory for SRM 7 implementation.
Only thing is Solution Manager contains best pratices for Project implementation e.g AS is process , to be process, blue print etc.
It is just a guilde. All things might not be required for your project.
We did it without solution Manager except that we used it for generating installation key & for maintainance opt.

I would suggest you take advantage of the documentation and simulations available in the Solution Manager Ramp -Up Knowledge Transfer area - http://service.sap.com/rkt-solman.
The areas are broken down by section and links such as Overview Build, Config, Deploy, Operation, Optimization, etc are provided. There are many hours of tutorials.
If you are just starting out, this information is invaluable.

I've tried to get to some Sample Questions here on Forum, but I couldn't get any.
I passed an exam on 14.11.2006 and I suggest to you to use course materials as suggested by SAP (SMI310). That is sufficient to pass the certificate. All the answers are there.
My general opinion: not easyYou have to be pretty much concentrated as there were questions put in negative expressions.You have to be really, really carefull.
They are taking a lot of details on subjects like Type of projects (Template projects, Roll out implementations, customer satisfaction) including its Roadmaps. (e.g. roll-out project phases and its content.)
I only saw 3 or 4 questions familiar to me (from Test your knowledge, SMI310 book), others were really related to course materials but spoken in their own words

Solution manager is a SAP component.It's a free software provided by SAP.After 640 release on wards if you want to install any software solman key is mandatery field.
Using solution manager we need to do the fallowing things.
1.solution manager CEN and Alerting configuration guide for dummies.
2.system monitoring configration guide for dummies.
3.service desk configuration guide for dummies.
4.ccms monitoring configuration guide for dummies.
From april onwards we need to down load the support packs through solution manager.In order to do this one we need to configure maintanace optimizer.

Urgently required Good Installation Document for SAP Solution Manager 4.0

Hello Experts,
Iam implementing /installing SAP Solution Manager 4.0 in our scenario in a day/two. My query is tat do we need to install it APAP + JAVA based only or can we install it ABAP based only?
Secondly i needed good self prepared document for SAP Solution Manager 4.0 installation which gives me step wise step procedure in detail.Plz dont give service marketplace link as i hv already seen and checked installion guide over it ,act. i wanted self prepared doc which is of more use. EWA: error message in CRM check for SAP Solution Manager system

In EWA report for SAP Solution Manager system I have seen error message: Many CSA* inbound queues in error status were detected in your system. As a result of this BDocs have not been delivered. And then table

I looked transaction smq2. There are 11300 queues in it. Is it actual error or it is a normal situation? And that must I do, to remove an error?

Hi,
Usually problems with hanaging CSA* queues are caused because too many
indiviaual queues are created for the qRFC resources to handle. You can
limit the number of queues as described in note 763680.
Note 763680 would be useful if all of your qRFC resourcesa are in use
when you have a great number of queues. With a large number of dialog
WPs on the system it would probably make sense to reduce the amount
as described in the note.
the casue when you have this problem would be to check SMQR -> GOTO ->
qRFC resources. You can also see if most of your dailog WPs are in use
in SM50.
Also refer to note 758677.
Please schedule report RSQIWKEX (Inbound) to run as described in the
note.
And since your title has mentioned that the EWA is on your CRM satellite system; this maybe a further good reference too
When you replicate lots of data from CRM to R/3, there could be a qRFC
resource problem. In this case, the numebr of queues created can be
reduced by implementing the attached note 356228, particularly solution
2.
For CSA* queues is slightly different from the one decribed in note;
this is because the CSA queues exchange data within the CRM system.
The steps described should be followed, except that table SMOFQFIND
must be used instead of CRMQNAMES. In this table, fields TR_SNAEMS and
SEGM_FLD are equivalent to the CRMQNAMES fieds BAPISTRUCT and BAPIFLD
respectively. It should be possible to follow the solution 2 in the
note as long as you use SMOFQFIND instead of CRMQNAMES.

ability to add existing uPerform documents that have already been created.

I have found a note from 2010 stating that this functionality has been submitted as a enhancement. My question is, has this feature been implemented yet? If not, does anyone have any suggested work-arounds for this issue?

Upgrade process to SAP Solution Manager 7.1

Hello!
We use SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 (SPS 26) and plan to upgrade to the new SAP Solution Manager 7.1.
We currently do not have Java Stack there.
Some questions about Upgrade process
1) Can a direct Upgrade from SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 (SPS 26) to SAP Solution Manager 7.1 be realized?
2) Should we first install Java Stack and then proceed with the Upgrade or otherwise?
3) Will Windows 32 Bit and None-Unicode Version of SAP Solution Solution Manager be supported?
It will be great to get some helpful information.

Trying to answer your question
1) As described in note 1244225, there no restriction to upgrade the Solman EHP1 to solman 7.1. Refer to the section:
In case you do not participate in this current Solution Manager 7.1 beta shipment there are no restrictions for implementing now SP stack 25 and upgrading in the future to an equivilant SP stack of release 7.1."
2) The Solman EHP1 must always be a dual stack system, I am not sure, how you are running the Solman EHP1 without a Java Stack, you should have one.
3) I am not sure if there will be a Solman 7.1 32Bit Non-UNICODE version. But, SAP recommends to run Solution Manager on Unicode (see also customer letter on http://service.sap.com/Unicode). At solman EHP1 there are some issues when running the system as Non_UNICODE, refer note 1383407.
I am not sure if I could clarify all your doubts.

SAP Solution Manager SR1 with MSSQL on W2K3 IA32 - Problem with Kernel

we are implementing a sandbox in order to test the SAP Solution Manager 4.0 SR1 with MSSQL on W2K3 IA32. Therefore we ordered the installation CD for the above mentioned configuration. Instead of getting the SAP NETWEAVER Kernel SR1 we got SR2. Now we have the problem, that the installation program SAPINST is requesting the SR1- Kernel.
Unforunately the SR1-Kernel seems no longer available in the download section.
It would be fine to get a suggestion how to solve the problem.

thanks for the hint, I have already checked the LABEL.ASC. I have no LABEL.ASC-Key for the SAP Netweaver 2004s SR1, so it would be a possibilty to substitue this key. But neverhteless, I think, there should be another official procedure in order to use the SR2 instead of the old SR1. I have contacted Klaus Billing at SAP as recommended in the OSS Note 918078. BPC (Outlooksoft) and SAP Solution Manager

Has anyone seen the SAP Solution Manager used to rollout and/or upgrade Outlooksoft (now called BPC - Business Planning and Consolidation)?
I am trying to assess the usefulness of this tool in an implementation where the only SAP module the company has is Outlooksoft (BPC), so all thoughts are appreciated.
