SAP Solution Manager key during upgrade

Hi,
Im upgrading my 4.7 Enterprice system to 7 (ERP)
When running the PREPARE im struggeling with the upgrade key from solution manager.
I have generated a key but it Sapup tells me its wrong.
I have deleted the system from smsy and the run the Landscape fetch job again but still I get the same key.
Any ideas?

If you provide these 3 values it will generate always same key only. please check once system number and host name?

Hi Ben,
Creating a key is not a problem but it will be good if you install a Solution Manager 4.0 BOX at your place, bcoz for N/W 04 and above you will need a solution specific key for each solution.

I need an urgent assistence if any buddy can help me I would be very great full, I am receiving an error during the installation of SAP ERP 2004 SR1 IDES, ABAP system central instance as for this I have to give a key to SAPINST which I generated from Solution Manager 4.0 I striclty followed the same step which is defined in SAPNote 811923. But the SAPINST not accepting the key it gives me an error "SAP Solution manager key is invalid ".
So guys any idea how can I get rid of this

Hi Syed,
the installation asks you for 'central SAP system' which must match the string for 'message server' when generating the key in solution manager exactly. maybe you can double check if you used the correct hostname (not FQDN) and made no typo?...

my db hostname is : deleted
sap system id : deleted
central instance number: deleted

It is illegal to provide keys here.
You have to install a solution manager first before you can install an ERP 6.0 system - or open an OSS call if your Solution Manager is not (yet) available.

Which parameters are required for generating a solution manager key?

Hello All,
I generated a key in Solution Manager, to install a SAP NW 2004s SR1.
But I receive an error during the installation from the SAPINST:
"SAP Solution manager key for the instance number... is invalid ".
I already changed the parameters for generating the key, changed the instance number, hostname, but I still receive the same error.
Could someone tell me which parameters exactly are required for generating a solution manager key?

Dear Sri,
this is exactly what I have entered, I still get the same error message.
My entries in SAPINST:
SAPinst founds one system instance on the host with
the Instance number 00,
the Instance name SCS00.
And ask for the Central Instance parameters:
there I enter 01 for the central Instance number,
the hostname
and the solution manager key generated for the instance number 01!

Solution Manager 3.2 upgrade to version 7.0

Hello All,
I am in the Solution Manager 3.2 upgrade to version 7.0.
In phase IS_SELECT "Upgrade Assistant" asks to add a few files update
components (Attachment: screens). Two of them (ST-SER and CPRXRPM) I
managed to find and read.
However, in the SAP Service Marketplace I can not find the new Add-On'ów:
ST and ST-ICO.
(For example:
ST - 400,
ST-ICO - 150_700)
Can I skip them in this step and leave the current versions?:
ST - 320 level 19
ST-ICO - 150_620 level 10

Those are part of the normal "upgrade" package - I wonder which DVDs you used to start the upgrade...

I have created Customer Attributes in SAP Solution Manager, SPRO--> SAP Solution Manager-->Capabilities-->Implementation/Upgrade-->Blueprint and Configuration-->Object Attributes--> Definition of Customer Attributes for Object Types. I have assigned the Customer Attributes for Project/Solution.
Now I have the attribute in the project nodes but I can't enter Attribute Values. How can I solve this problem?

Solution Manager 7.1 Upgrade: Problems during LMDB Setup

Hi,
we upgraded our Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1 development system to 7.1 SPS3 (including all new sap notes).
During solman_setup we get the following error at -> System Preparation -> 6 Prepare Landscape -> 6.4 Set up LMDB:
No such namespace: "active"
Due to this error it is not possible to add a synchronization connection between our local SLD and LMDB, because there's no target namespace!
Does anyone know how to add the namespace "active" ??

If you cannot give your central SLD a required status, you can use another SLD which does satisfy the minimum requirements (e.g. the SAP Solution Manager SLD), and fill it with the data from your central SLD, using SLD bridge functionality.
Model and CR Content
The CIM model and SAP CR content requirements are:
 CIM model 1.6.16 or higher
 Newest SAP CR CONTENT, at least version 7.0

EHP1 is basically a product enhancement of 700 - i.e offers new functionality
Usually to get to Enhancement packages you need to be operating NW2004S stack based product - in this case 4.0 (now called Solution Manager 7.0)
I think this proposal will require first an upgrade from 3.2 to 4.0
then after applying Enhancement Package EHP1 and following pre-reqs for both steps
Also bearing in mind that Solution Manager is RFC dependant any change in SID, Hostname or client will require
all RFC connections will need to be adapted
There may also be special considerations depending on source configuration or the active Solution Manager scenarios and content
I would take a look at following PDF for reference - it may help in the initial 3.2-->4.0 upgrade

Upgrade process to SAP Solution Manager 7.1

Hello!
We use SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 (SPS 26) and plan to upgrade to the new SAP Solution Manager 7.1.
We currently do not have Java Stack there.
Some questions about Upgrade process
1) Can a direct Upgrade from SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 (SPS 26) to SAP Solution Manager 7.1 be realized?
2) Should we first install Java Stack and then proceed with the Upgrade or otherwise?
3) Will Windows 32 Bit and None-Unicode Version of SAP Solution Solution Manager be supported?
It will be great to get some helpful information.

1) As described in note 1244225, there no restriction to upgrade the Solman EHP1 to solman 7.1. Refer to the section:
In case you do not participate in this current Solution Manager 7.1 beta shipment there are no restrictions for implementing now SP stack 25 and upgrading in the future to an equivilant SP stack of release 7.1."
2) The Solman EHP1 must always be a dual stack system, I am not sure, how you are running the Solman EHP1 without a Java Stack, you should have one.
3) I am not sure if there will be a Solman 7.1 32Bit Non-UNICODE version. But, SAP recommends to run Solution Manager on Unicode (see also customer letter on http://service.sap.com/Unicode). At solman EHP1 there are some issues when running the system as Non_UNICODE, refer note 1383407.
I am not sure if I could clarify all your doubts.

I'm not sure what you mean with "I need a list" but the installation guide is available at the usual places:

Check the "Master Guide SAP Solution Manager 7.0" for an overview, which CDs/DVDs you need.
The installation guide itself is also available on that site.
SolMan 7.0 SR3 is not available on 32bit platforms.

Solution Manager Key info

As we are planning to migrate / system copy all systems like SAP Portal , BI & XI to a new hardware, from P5-P590 to P6-P570 (The OS version, TL level and Patch Level for the both LPAR's remains same, i.e No change on OS versions).
My question here is:
We have generated a solution manager key for all systems while installation, if we migrate any SAP system to a new hardware i.e. P6-P570, will the solution manager keys work in new environment for all systems? Our Solution manager server is also on P5-P590 environment.
As we are planning to migrate solman server also to a new env (P6-P570) from P5-P590, if the solmanger key doesnu2019t work on new env, do we need to migrate the solman server first to a new env and generate a new solman key and assign the key to the migrated systems on new env.
Note: We are doing as is migration, i.e. hostname, SID & IP remains same.
I hope my question is clear and understandable.
Please provide your valuable inputs / suggestions for the migration and also provide any link for the migrations.
Points will be awarded for each valuable answer.

Hi,
Solution Manager key is based on SID, Hostname, Installation Number, and Product Versions. Since in your case all these remains the same. You don't need to Generate a new key. Moreover, you are not upgrading or installing new instance.

1. Did you select java path (Export CD/DVD) while intsallation? Check once again.
2. Add JAVA_HOME = Java path in environment variable.
