  • Why SAP SRM material replication happens through CRM middleware?

Can some one help me to understand, Why SAP SRM material replication happens through CRM middleware? Is there any functional/Technical reason behind this design?

    Dear Sridhar,
SRM releases later SRM 4.0 are working with the same middleware implementation,
there where no changes between the releases. The SRM middleware implementation
was decoupled from the CRM middleware development at that time.
(Middleware is based on the basis functionality of queued Remote Function Calls qRFC)

  • Enterprise structure in SAP SRM

    Hi,
I am new to SAP SRM. I would like to know where do we set the enterprise structure (Creating & assigning organisational elements like Company code, Plants, Purchase Organisation & so on) in SAP SRM like the way we do in R/3?
I tried searching in SRM Wiki, but couldn't locate. Please help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Murthy

Use PPOMA_BBP for creation of or structure, assignment of attributes etc....
Use BBPGETVD for vendor master replication
Use R3AS for material master replication
    use FM for location(plant) replication

Can you please help me answer:
Which possibilities are there to use bills of material (BOMs) in SAP SRM 5.0 or beyond? We are using Material Master data replicated from MM in SRM Extended Classic Scenario?

  • Future of SAP SRM -MM

    Hello SRM Gurus ,
Please clarify ... Do you think SAP SRM will replace MM in future or MM will be still avaialable.
As SAP taken over Frictionless do you think the next version of SRM will be integrated product with Frictionless and MM

    Hi Naveen,
for a manual on replication of material master data from R/3 to SRM please refer to the ConfigGuide Self Service Procurement on service.sap.com/instguides.
    (Chapter Data replication).
when I wrote "dummy vendor" I only thought of the catalog.
The easiest way (which is not the best way for process) on how to integrate your material master to a catalog would be an own catalog of your (backend) material master. For importing the catalog you would need a supplier ID in the catalog system. This would be your company.
The disadvantage of this solution: The users will find a material at least twice.
Once in the catalog of the supplier(s) and once in your "stock material catalog".
Thus it would be better if you could find a person who is able to match vendor master data with your material master data in order to enhance vendor catalogs with the number of your material master.
Perhaps your purchasing department prefers another solution:
Diminishing material master data and work with contracts of product categories (without product ID).
    Hope it helps.

    Felix

  • SRM Material master search with Old material number or Manufacturing Part Number

    Hello,
We have requirement to search SRM material with ECC old material number or  Manufacturing Part Number. Is it possible to enable this option in SRM.
We are implementing SAP SRM 7.02.
    Rgds,
    Madhan

    Hi Madhan,
The quick win can be to amend product search help to do RFC to ECC for old mat number.

  • SAP SRM & BW

    Hi Experts,
I am pretty new to this forum. How does SRM interacts with SAP BW? It there a BW system embedded in SRM (like i.e. SAP SCM APO or CRM). Or do we need a separate BW system for reporting?
    Kind regards
    Aban

Yes . BW is a separe application server .
SRM and BW connected via RFC.
You can use this business scenario to analyze the expenditure of your company incorporating data from a wide range of heterogeneous systems as well as from all relevant business units and areas.
SAP Supplier Relationship Management (SAP SRM) uses the business intelligence features of SAP NetWeaver to access connected systems and extract the information needed to gain insight into spending practices across the entire corporate group. The reports cover spending for direct and indirect material as well as for services. You can also configure your system to provide the following:
Capture of spend for procurement documents without any purchase order (PO) reference or other detailed information about the procurement
Harmonization of master data for reporting purposes, allowing for identification of duplicate suppliers and assignment of product to standard classification schemas such as the United Nations Standard Products and Services Code (UNSPSC) and eCl@ss. The harmonization can be done by using SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (SAP NetWeaver BI) Local Master Data Alignment (for limited data volumes).
With these features, SAP SRM provides you with a clear view of procurement costs and supply-base data by highlighting consolidated spend volume, supplier redundancies, and demand aggregation opportunities.
    Prerequisites
You can implement this business scenario with different releases of the relevant application components. However, only certain combinations are valid. For more informations, see
SAP SRM Master Guide on SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/instguides

  • I need materials for SAP SRM  NPP(Non production procurement)

Please provide materials for SAP SRM NPP, General ideas about it.
    regards,
    George.

    Salut George,
in general, all items that a business procures which directly end up in the production process are acquired through "production procurement". Examples for production marerial or "direct" material are raw materials, or fuel/energy for the producing machines.
The abbreviation NPP for the (too) short cut Non-Production Procurement refers to procurement of so-called "non-production materials and services", also known as "indirect procurement". What "non-production" is depends on the company that produces. Here some examples:
At Xerox, the copy machine maker, NPP "covers all purchases of supplies other than supplies used in the actual production of copying machines. Thus, all office supplies, from desks and personal computers to pencils and stationary comes under the category of non-production procurement." {you can probably find the source via google}.
Resources, when not directly involved in the manufacturing process, such as engineers, product designer, quality inspectors, and administrators, may be referred to as non-production labor. Again, it depends on the production process of the company! The procurement of these resources may be seen as non-production procurement as well.
I hope this helps. Best regards,
    Andreas

  • Technical Help on creation of an Object in SAP SRM 4.0

Being on SAP SRM 4.0, we currently have a requirement for creation of Need Definition( Basically a build up for the contract ). Need being collected from the Backend systems need to be validated and approved by Buyers & Lead Buyers in the SRM system.
Technically, this task is broken down to below tasks.
    1) Creation of need definition screen - Basically a template where a need can be created with Items, Sub Items and other related information
    2) Selection Screen for Buyers and Lead Buyers - This enables the the Buyers to select the Need Definition assigned to them based on the status.
    3) Report - List of all the Need Definition( Item and Sub Item)satisfying the selection of step 2. with the possibility to navigate to the Need Definition screen ( Step 1) upon selection.
    Now the question is,
what technology is recommended for the above Tasks? We thought it would be BSP but do you guys have any suggestions...
Do we have any issues in displaying the report in BSP? please let me know
Remember we are version 4.0 of SRM.
    Thanks in Advance..
    Mohan.

Even though I don't have much knowledge on BSP, it should be a good option. Since SAP has used BSP to develop new screens in SRM 5.0.

I have NW 7.3 based EP system. Can that be used for Java or Do I need to install another stand alone Java ?
    If it can be used:
    - Will it not create problems b'coz portal is on 7.3 and SRM is based on 7.02
    - are there any SRM Java specific components in this installation object or is it a plain NW 7.02 Java stack ?
    4) What is SAP SRM 7.0 EHP1 Components in terms of functionality given?

  • Portal Runtime Error while performing User Mapping  to SAP SRM

Please find below the error I received while User Mapping from  Enterprise Portal to SAP SRM :
    Portal Runtime Error
An exception occurred while processing a request for :

    Component Name : com.sap.portal.usermanagement.admin.UserMappingAdmin
    User Mapping not fully available..
    Exception id: 04:21_23/06/05_0073_8097650
See the details for the exception ID in the log file

    Hi,
yes, Karsten is correct. Just some background:
"User Mapping not fully available.." finally means that user mapping is configured to use strong encryption, but the main crypto key for user mapping is missing. Usually, that's because "SAP Java Cryptographic Toolkit" and/or "JCE policy files for unlimited strength encryption" are not installed (or the server hasn't be restarted afterwards). The note will most likely help

  • Approver not determined process controlled workflow in SAP SRM 7.0

    Hello all,
I have setup process controlled workflow in SAP SRM 7.0 EHP3 for shopping cart approval.
    I have 4 approval levels.
I have used item-based Decision for entire document because for some items i want system approval.
In implementation of BADI /SAPSRM/BD_WF_RESP_RESOLVER, in the method /SAPSRM/IF_EX_WF_RESP_RESOLVER~GET_AREA_TO_ITEM_MAP, i am skipping the items for which i want system approval.
Also in method /SAPSRM/IF_EX_WF_RESP_RESOLVER~GET_APPROVERS_BY_AREA_GUID of BADI implementation class, i am keeping the approver table empty for the step which i want system approval.
For example i have 1 item in shopping cart and for 1st step, based on some accouting criteria, i want system approval for 1st level and the workitem should go directly to 2 approval step when shopping cart is ordered. This is not happening.
But if i have multiple items, and one item should have system approval based on some criteria and the 1st approval level should be system approval and other item should go to the 1st approver. This is happening and showing 'system' approver for item1 and 'appr_xyz' for item 2.
For shopping cart having only 1 item, If i approve the shopping cart in this state only, it doesn't go to any approver and is not usable.
am i missing anything in BADI /SAPSRM/BD_WF_RESP_RESOLVER??
    Please let me know.
    Regards,
    Yayati Ekbote

    Hi Adrian,
Yes it is possible to display custom workflows in the Universal Worklist,  However, I am not sure what you are trying to do with a routing table.  If the workitems are of type decision, you can use UserDecisionHandler (action handler) configured in the XML file to use the Approve/Reject functionality - we are talking about webflow connector here correct?  R/3 connector?
