Sap Support of Bex Analyzer 7.0
Hello everyone,
Does anyone know until when SAP is going to do support for Bex Analyzer 7.0?
Iu2019ve eared that is going to be discontinued.
From now on does it make sense to use this tool in a new project or use Crystal Reports?
What does BEx/Pioneer Queries means? Is the new tool for report thru the web? Can anyone clarify this for me?
Thanks a lot,
Joana

BEx Analyzer comments in ABAP Runtime?!
Hallo, we are using BEx 7.3 in ABAP Runtime (only ABAP Stack). In BEx Analyzer we want to use comments functionality to upload a Word or Excel Document for comments, but the Document Browser we are getting is of BEx 3.x which doen't provide the Button to uplaod the Word/Excel Documents. According to SAP in ABAP Runtime there is no way to upload Word/Excel Documents through BEx Analyzer comments functionality. Ist there any work arround?? Can any body hepl on this issue?
Many thanks in advance,
Regards
MansoorHallo Anass,
thanks for your reply but the Link to SAP-Library shows the document about the Documents Browser in Portal, JAVA Runtime. But we don't have JAVA / Portal environment, we have only ABAP Stack.
The T-Code does not help, cause the BEx Analyzer version we are using is BEx 7.3. It is only the Document Browser which is of 3.x version, because according to SAP Helpline the BEx Analyzer in ABAP Runtime works only with 3.x Document Browser.
Does anybody know a work around to upload the Word documents?
Any how many thanks. -
BEx Analyzer not working in SAP GUI 7.10
Dear All,
BEx Analyzer 7.0 is not working on SAP GUI 7.10. Following are the details:
OS: Windows XP SP2
Installed the following softwares (in the sequential order):
1. Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 SP1
2. MS Office 2003 (without any service packs)
3. SAP GUI 7.10 (used SAPAllSetup.exe) to install both BEx Analyzer 3.5 and BEx Analyzer 7.0 alongwith SAP GUI 7.10.
While BEx Analyzer 3.5 runs fine, 7.0 does not.
Upon running BEx Analyzer 7.0 from the Programs menu, I see a toolbar on the left hand side on MS Excel in German. Whenever I click on any button, they do not respond.
When I tried to install update for Office 2003 (KB907417), I received the message stating the patch has already been applied.
I also applied SAP GUI 7.10 Patch Level 8, but still the problem remains the same.
Running Tcode RRMX from the SAP GUI opens MS Excel with both the toolbars of 3.5 (on top) and 7.0 (on left). As before, 3.5 works fine, while 7.0 does not.
Do I need to install Office SP2 or SP3, as well? Or something else? Any solutions?
Thanks and Regards,
Sachin.Hi All,
This problem is due to .NET 2.0 assembly(nothing but .dll's),
Step1 : Check if you can see this C:\WINNT\assembly\GAC exists
If it does and still getting the error, then follow these steps,
1) Uninstall office03
2) Uninstall GUI
3) Uninstall .Net 2.0
4) Reboot
5) Install .dll(WindowsXP-KB935448-x86-dll.exe) fix(this is due to .net1.1 and 2.0 coexistence)----- only if u get a critical message at startup.
5a) Reboot
5b) Install .net1.1
5c) Reboot
5d) Install .net2.0
5e) Reboot
6) Install office 03
6a) Reboot
7) Install .PIA's (O2003PIA.MSI)
7a) Reboot
8) Install setupall.exe for GUI
9) Install KB907---- (office2003-KB907417-FullFile-ENU.exe)
10) Reboot
Let me know if you encounter any problems.

Vb error 'run-time error '13', type mismatch when starting SAP BEX Analyzer
Dear experts,
I encountered the above error whenever I opened the BEX analyzer either from the start program or call sap transaction 'RRMX'.
My desktop is currently running BEX 3.50 with patch level 5 and office XP and my SAPGUI version is SAPGUI 6.4 compilation 2, patch level 11.
I have tried installed and reintalled SAPGUI and also downloded the latest patch from the net but still having the same problem.
Any input/help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
NCWI managed to solve the problem by uninstalling some of the recent Microsoft XP security patch (released in April '05). So, I think the problem is due to the security patch.
Just hope that there will be a fix by SAP so that we can still have the uptodate security patches. -
Advantages of BW Query in SAP Portal when compared to WEB BEx Analyzer
Hi
What are the advantages of having a BW Query in SAP Portal when compared to WEB BEx Analyzer
I had to presention to higher managers of having a SAPPortal for BW report that WEB BEx Analyzer
can any one please update me with few points (10-20) that will be useful for my presentation
screen to geethikakrishna->gmail
Thanks in advanceHi Krishna ,
I think you should highlight the portal role in presentation
Now a days all organizations using sap portal as their user interface. We can login portal once and we can get all the information from bw,crm...sap systems and non sap systems.
so no need to login each and every system individually.
The portal offers a single point of access to SAP and non-SAP information sources, enterprise applications, information repositories, databases and services in and outside your organizationall integrated into a single user experience. It provides you the tools to manage this knowledge, to analyze and interrelate it, and to share and collaborate on the basis of it.
With its role-based content, and personalization features, the portal enables usersfrom employees and customers to partners and suppliersto focus exclusively on data relevant to daily decision-making processes
For all information on portals refer to help.sap.com->documentation->netweaver->Netweaver2004->English

SAP BEX Analyzer Set values for variables
Please help us out in sorting out this problem,
We are automating BEx Analyzer for a Testing Project with Quick Test Professional (QTP) a functional automation tool uses VB script.
Problem:
There are 5 steps in automation
Invoke BEx Application
Log in to BEx server
Run Query
Set values for Variables for Query
Display Report
We are able to do 1,2,3 steps using BEx API functions and running BEx macros but we struck up with 4th step,
1. Invoke BEx Application
Launch Excel
Dim app
Set app = createobject("Excel.Application")
Make it visible
app.Visible = true
Attach add-in to Excel file
app.Run ("'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'!SetStart")
2. Log in to BEx server
Login to Bex server
Function logonToBW(app)
Dim myConnection
Dim logonToBW2
On Error Resume Next
logonToBW2 = True
' Create logon to system with following user and system details
Set myConnection = app.Run ("'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'! SAPBEXgetConnection")
With myConnection
.client = "600"
.User = "USERNAME"
.Password = "Welcom123"
.Language = "en"
.systemnumber = "00"
.System = "BWDCLNT600"
.systemid = "BWD"
.ApplicationServer = "156.158.7.161"
.SAProuter = ""
.Logon 0, true
If .IsConnected = 0 Then
.Logon 0, False
If .IsConnected <> 1 Then
MsgBox "Automatic logon failed. Please enter your username and password in the next screen ..."
Exit Function
End If
End If
End With
' Run connection query to see if connected
app.Run ("'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'!SAPBEXinitConnection")
logonToBW2 = True
End Function
3. Run a Query
app.Run "'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'! runQuery", "ZZCCA3_M01_Q0003"
Till here the script is running fine then the Select values for Variables window is displayed.
This is where exactly we struck up; in this window we need to select values.
Name of the Fields
Field Name Technical name of characteristic Variable Name Value
1 Company Code 0COMP_CODE ZM_COMPCODE 1000
2 Cost Center Hierarchy 0COSTCENTER ZS_CCTRN 1000MDON
3 Cost Center Node 0COSTCENTER ZS_CCTRN 1000COP
4 Cost Element 0COSTELEMENT ZS_COELN 1000GDON_6999
5 Fiscal Year 0FISCYEAR 0P_FYEAR 2007
To select values for variables, we are trying below code but its giving an error,
app.Run "'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'!SAPBEXSetFilterValue", 1000, "0COMP_CODE"
app.Run "'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'!SAPBEXSetFilterValue", 1000MDON, " 0COSTCENTER "
app.Run "'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'!SAPBEXSetFilterValue", 1000COP, "0COSTCENTER"
app.Run "'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'!SAPBEXSetFilterValue", 1000GDON_6999, "0COSTELEMENT "
app.Run "'C:\Program Files\SAP\Business Explorer\BI\BExAnalyzer.xla'!SAPBEXSetFilterValue", 2007, " 0FISCYEAR"
Any help highly appreciated, thanks in advance.Hi Reinhard,

BEx Analyzer through SAP Netweaver ABAP trial version
Hi, I have installed SAP Netweaver ABAP trial version but dont know how to get BEx analyzer. Can someone help to find out that.
Thanks,Hi ,
I doubt if the BW component is present in the NW 7.0 Abap trial.Please check this in Tcode spam -> supp. package levels (all components are listed.there, or via system information in the gui menu.
When component BW is present you can install Bex/Wad etc. via the sapgui CD.

SAP Bex Analyzer (Netweaver 7.1) Opens workbooks twice when starting.
We just upgraded from bex 3.5 to 7.1, and have set it to open the Analyzer whenever excel starts. But now whenever we open an excel workbook it opens each workbook twice. We have one file in the XLSTART folder that loads in macro's but just opens a blank workbook. The file we are opening has code that sets calculation to manual and prompts the user that it has set to manual.
Whenever we open a file, it promps the user twice about setting it to manual, but only 1 workbooks pops up (because excel only allows one workbook with the same name to be open at a time), but we also get two blank workbooks that open up because the file in the XLSTART folder is being opened twice as well.
Has anyone else seen this problem with workbooks being opened twice, or attempting to be opened twice with bex analyzer 7.1?What version of SAP-GUI are you using ? SAP-GUI 7.2 (latest version) was heavily rewritten using Visual Studio and SAP has stated that certain features that existed in earlier SAP-GUI versions are no longer available (it's Microsoft's Fault). It is also quite possible that your initial launch macro in Excel is causing the problem.
I would personally recommend that you do NOT launch Bex Analyzer when Excel opens, unless this is your primary method to interact with Bex workbooks and such. That may resolve your issue. -

Help me, please.Is it just for one query or for all of them...(for all them)
If allowed in the system create a new one and check...(yes but the query don't work).
If it has effected all of them you can revert back the note changes.. Check again..
(to revert back the note is a disaster. There are more notes one above the other... I should set all the objects modified to original version one to one)
If it works now issue a message to SAP (I think it's a good idea) -
Excel 2002 with BEx Analyzer NW2004s
Hi,
can I use Excel 2002 with BEx Analyzer NW2004s? I read somewhere, it is possible only with Office 2003. It's true?
Thanks!Hi, for some reason the BI FAQs on SDN are not up-to-date. I will investigate and make sure they are refreshed asap.
You always find the up-to-date FAQs on SAP Service Marketplace /bifaq. There you see the correct answer:
Which versions of Microsoft Office are supported by SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) BI Business Explorer (BEx)?
BEx in SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) supports MS Office 2003 and Office XP, SP2 (this includes Excel 2002) based on GUI 6.40
BEx in SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) supports MS Office 2003 based on GUI 7.10
For information on planned support for Windows Vista and Office 2007 (based on GUI 7.10) please check the Functional Enhancements Schedule BI in NW7.0 (2004s).
There is
no support for NW 7.0 (2004s) BEx Tools on MS Office 97
no support for NW 7.0 (2004s) BEx Tools for Office XP (Excel 2002) in combination with GUI 7.10
no support for NW 7.0 (2004s) BEx Tools for Vista in combination with GUI 6.40
For more information, see SAP Note 103174 and 1013140.

The BEx Analyzer cannot generate VBA code due to the security settings
Hello experts,
when I try to open a query in BEx Analyser I get this error message for each Item of the Query:
Diagnosis
The BEx Analyzer cannot generate VBA code due to the security settings.
System Response
VBA code is not generated.
Procedure
Choose Tools -> Macro -> Security.
On the Trusted Publishers tab page, select Trust access to Visual Basic project.
Choose OK.
Close the BEx Analyzer and continue working as before.
Access to Visual Basic project is only needed when generating VBA code.
This only takes place in design mode or when 3.x workbooks are upgraded.
Of course I did exactly what was recommanded in the "procedure-section" of this error message. But BEx ist still not working!
I use SAP NetWeaver 7.0 together with MS Excel 2007
Thanks
AxelHello experts,
I am an additional person interested in the way this issue was solved.
I confirm that the issue is coming from the SP2 of Microsoft Office (I have another environnement without the SP2 and everything works well), and I am in a situation where I can't remove the update.
Regards
Guillaume P.
EDIT :
Solution found : I applied the bi710sp10p_1001-10004472.exe patch
(downloaded via the download maanger : Support Packages and Patches - Entry by Application Group" SAP Frontend Components" BI ADDON FOR SAP GUI" BI 7.0 ADDON FOR SAP GUI 7.10)
