SAP Sybase Landscape setup...

Dear SAP/ Sybase Experts ,
Need your suggestion and expert advise on Sybase Replication server Setup in SAP landscape.
We will have our production servers setup on High Availability as per best practice{Windows, SAP and DB on Cluster } and we will be using SRS for disaster recovery on secondary Site. All Our Windows servers are on VMware 5.5
As configuration and management of SRS is not one of easiest , will it be wise to have HA on Primary and setup DR.
Appreciate your suggestion on our SAP landscape
HA on Primary site {different Virtual hostname for DB and SAP } Multiple application/Dialog server and Disaster recovery with SRS
Single Node Production, Multiple application/Dialog server and Disaster recovery with SRS.

In general, should not have both Non-production system along with Production System on a single vmware due to;
1) Installation type should be different for Production (like in cluster environment) system and non-production system (not necessarily to have its cluster) so fail over to secondary node can't be possible.
2) Production system availability/or its priority will be different than the DEV QA systems.
3) Performance and its analysis will be difficult again.
4) Maintenance (either application or OS level) will be very difficult.
5) Data Centre for Production system and non-production are different location ?
Advised to have DB and PAS (Primary Application Server) on Physical server and application server on vmware or cross OS level, say if DB is on Unix, application server can be on MS Windows & this saves costs as well.

SAP Sybase ESP - Error: Invalid URI at Example: Using a Simple Web Services (SOAP) Input Adapter

we need our help regarding the StockTrader example project that is delivered with SAP Sybase Event Stream Processor (Sybase ESP 5.1).
we want to build a simple Web Service and follow the instructions as described in the Sybase Infocenter. We have attached a screenshot ("Sybase InfoCenter") that contains the described steps (as copying the URL always lead to a wrong page).
We have problems with Step 10 ("Start the ESP project by running the start_project.bat or start_project.sh script."). We get the error message "Invalid URI" as you can see in screenshot "[error] Invalid Uri". Previously we started the "start_node.bat" (Step 9) - see also screenshot "[error] Invalid Uri".
Like in steps 6 and 7 mentioned, we have changed the parameters "USER" and "PASSWORD" of the adapter_config.xml files and the parameters "ADAPTER_EXAMPLE_USERNAME"and "ADAPTER_EXAMPLE_PASSWORD" of the
set_example_env.bat files. Here, we were a bit confused wether we should change these parameters in all those files as there are 4 adapter_config.xml and 4 set_example_env.bat files. Please refer to the attached screenshot ("changed files").
Does anyone know why this error occurs and how to continue to complete the Web Service?
Later we want to push data with this Web Service into a SAP HANA database table.

thanks a lot for your help.
The solution for us was to change the column names inside Sybase ESP Studio to the column names in StockTraderMappings.xml.
After compiling and running the project we could see the data and were also able to push it to SAP HANA.
This is the CCL Code that worked for us:

SAP System Landscape Directory (SLD) Privileges

Hello everyone,
I'm not really sure if this is the correct place to start this discussion, but any help and support is really appreciated.
The question is as follows: is it possible to define object privileges in SLD such as Products, Software Component Versions, Technical Systems and Business System for example, to define which user can modify a Technical System? I assume there's is a way by role and groups on the UME to define privileges to display or modify objects in whole SLD, but I don't know if on a lower level this is possible.

Hello Julio,
I am not sure if you can define certain UME actions for objects within the SLD. These objects are usually maintained by a SLD administrator. There is however a way to create a new UME role and assign new SLD action to it.
In your Web browser, enter the URL of the Identity Management using the following format:http://<host>:<port>/useradmin .
Create user groups and UME roles of your choice and assign each UME role to the appropriate user group(s) as well as to the UME action(s). You can use the predefined UME roles as a template so create your own UME roles (as descibed in the table above).
If you want to create a UME role for SLD content synchronization or for SLD administration, you need to assign the Destination_Service_Write_Permission UME action, which belongs to thetc~sec~destinations~service service, to your own UME role.

Sybase SQL Anywhere 12 and SAP Sybase SQL Anywhere 16

Hello,
Is there a difference between Sybase SQL Anywhere 12 and SAP Sybase SQL Anywhere 16?
If there is, could you please list out the general information. i.e. is v12 (i.e. pre SAP purchase of Sybase) just older than v16 (i.e. post SAP purchase of Sybase) ?
I know that Hyland's OnBase 14 supports both of these versions. Just having a difficult time trying to find information about Sybase SQLA v12 - if it is even still available for purchase, etc.

SAP Sybase SQL Anywhere 16 is the next major version of SQL Anywhere after SQL Anywhere 12.

The license generation tool (interface) on SAP's Support Portal (ServiceMarketPlace) is very similar to the previous Sybase Product Download Center.
If a license file needs to be updated (refreshed), you can do this using the 'Upgrade' button.
Otherwise, check-in, then generate new one can resolve the issue.

SAP B1 Intercompany - Setup Landscape

I am using SAP 9.1 PL 5, SQL 2012 and IC 2.10...does anyone know how to fix the error message below Variable '$col.disabled' has not been bound to a value? Using the "Intercompany admin console", I selected "Setup" and then "Landscape". On the "SLD" tab, the databases are listed and I am able to receive the "successful" message when I test the connections.

B1i Landscape Setup error

Hi Experts,
I have installed B1i2007SN on my Latop as a test before I have to do this for a client. (This is for Financial Consolidation between 2 B1 Databases) SBO client, SBO, B1iP and SQL is installed on the same machine.
When I create a new System in the Integration Application Explorer, I got the following errors when I test the connection:
com.sap.b1i.xcellerator.RejectedException: XCE041 Whole Adapter-Pool currently is deactivated
I also got this error on the jcopath that I have rsearched on the forum and found to be C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One Server\DI API\JCO\LIB
com.sap.b1i.adapter.dia.exception.ConnectionFailedException: JCO-path (C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One Server\DI API\JCO\LIB) is supplied locally, but already was set by a prior client to C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One DI API\JCO\LIB

Also, in your settings, for "dbType", you have "SQL Server 2005MaxDBMicrosoft ". I am not sure how you have two different databases here as you need to choose "Microsoft SQL Server 2005" or "MaxDB". You are showing both in your post.
Also, have you tried uninstalling the DI API via the Windows Control Panel and then re-installing the DI API?

How to set-up BO Xcelsius Enterprise in a layered SAP BW landscape

We are implementing BO Xcelsius Enterprise next to an existing SAP Netweaver BW landscape (including SAP BW 7.0).
We want to use the direct Xcelsius-SAP BW connection using the BI Consumers Services from EHP 1.
Currently we're using a 3 system landscape for our SAP BW environment, a development, Test and production server.
A) Could you specify what the best practice is for implementing Xcelsius Enterprise as tool:
Option 1: Only 1 Xcelsius server supporting the whole BI landscape
or
Option 2: set-up 3 Xcelsius servers, one for BW development,
one for the test environment
one for the production environment
And what are the transport possibilities in the 2nd scenario?
B) Also we would like to know how the live-data connection is working when a dahboard user is refreshing the data in the dahboard:
1) is the BW query triggered directly from the Xcelsius Dashboard to the SAP BW server and is the dataflow going directly from the BW server to the Xcelsius Dashboard ?
or
2) is the BW query triggered indirectly from the Xcelsius Dashboard to the SAP BW server via the Xcelsius Enterprise Server and is the dataflow going indirectly from the BW server to the Xcelsius Dashboard via the Xcelsius Enterprise Server ?

In my previous Organisation we got exactly the same landscape for BW as you described.BCS(BAYER COPSCIENCE LTD) operates a BW System Landscape with one centralized Global Development System and three regional Quality Assurance and Production Systems located in Europe, Asia Pacific and Americas. This Landscape is to ensure consistent data models to be available in all regional systems as well as to minimize development efforts and make use of respective synergies.
This is perfectly working for BCS ,and I think, this is the most approriate way of handling of resources.

Solution manager system Landscape setup problems

Dear Expert,
I tried to add new system DEV into solution manager landscape with the Assistant .
But during the step Create RFC connections, it occured some errors below.
RC=2: The user has no authorization in the target system (for the object S_RFCACL), or logged on with one of the protected users 'DDIC' or 'SAP*'.
I created a account call 'TIM' at target system, and also solution manager has the same user account as well.
does any other authorizqtion need to be assign to TIM.??

Hello,
Please create a communication user in both Solman system as well as satellite system with trusted autorizatrion.
For trusted autorization create a role with object S_RFC & S_RFCACL
While generating RFC please select the user which you have created in the above step

process works fine until 93% then we receive the following error

SAP Sybase ASE 15.7 DB error on Windows 2008 R2 Server

Hello SAP Gurus !
We are in process of Installing SAP ASE 15.7 DB on win 2008 R2 64bit. When i Run setup file on ASE folder and after following the required screen at the last phase it comes out throwing error saying New Adaptive service unable to create?.
We tried all the options but no luck, Can anyone in this group help me out of it, Your early reply really appreciated.

Please check whether below components are installed on Windows sever.
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package and KB2565063
Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 and KB2565057
If not please do so and check the results.

Oracle to SAP Sybase ASE Migration

We are planing to migrate Solution Manger 7.1.
Source : OS- HP-UX , DB - Oracle 11g
Target : OS - SUSE Linux , DB - SYBASE ASE 15.7
Can we migrate using normal system copy method ( heterogeneous) using SPM toool or is there any specific procedure/ steps need to follow ?

You need to use SWPM tool and Heterogenous system copy to perform this migration.
