SAP System Message: Syntx error or generation error in a screen

dear sap basis gurus,
i am currently having problems signing on to our DEV server. i get this error message:
<SID>: SAP System Message
Syntx error or generation error in a screen.
it won't let me log on.
there were no changes made on the server (i.e., profile parameters) lately. it was working really fine after our support package level upgrade about 5 months ago.
have you encountered this problem before? please help me as there we have two imminent go-lives.
thank you very much in advance.
best regards,
albert

hello nick, ashok,
thank you very much for your responses.
i have already resolved this issue by just freeing up some space from our disks. not one of them was full though.
i hope i would no longer encounter the error message.
again, thank you.
best regards,
albert

  • Couldn't log into SAP System (message 00264) after SAP_BASIS update

    Hello,
we performed SAP_BASIS update to SAPKB70023 and get a problem with logon into a SAP system with message 00264 (Status &2 of the user interface &1 missing).
    We have a 64-bit non-Unicode system on Solaris/SPARC/Oracle and Kernel level 333.
We tried to import MENUSYST program from note 1285869, but nothing happened at all. The parameter abap/unicode_check we set to "on" but this didn't help us.
So after selecting system record in SAP Logon now we get the initial logon screen with no "new password" button and error 00264 (Status 0020 of the user interface SAPMSYST missing.) and couldn't log into the system.
We have no idea why correct and existing statuses are not working.
Please suggest us what to do to fix this problem.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Unable to login: SAP System Message: Dynpro does not exist

    Hello All,
I'm created a test system to practice our upgrade post steps on.  I created a pared down copy of one of our other systems.  When I try to login, I get a popup message saying: Dynpro does not exist.
To create the pared down version, we used empty files for:

    ZHYPFIO
    AUSP
    VBOX
    JCDS
    VBAP
We don't think these being empty is the problem, but I wanted to mention it just incase it is.
Below is the dev_w0 log.  I've been searching Google / SDN / OSS for some of the errors but haven't come up with anything yet.
Any insight you might have into this would be appreciated.  Thank you.

  • Content generation error. [Error: exportArticleFolio]

Hi guys! I'm getting the error "Content generation error. [Error: exportArticleFolio]" when trying to update an article (yesterday it was successfully uploaded and updated). The same issue when try to upload it as a new article.
No errors are displayed when open Preflight panel.
I can successfully update other articles....
So seems that something is wrong with the article that is need to be updated.... But it's difficult to understand what is wrong from this error message. Maybe somebody faced with this issue and can give me an advice?
    Windows 7, Indesign CS6 version 8.0.1

If you encounter the problem with specific ID doc, would you be able to share the document with me for investigation? If so, please package the ID document and email me offline: [email protected] We will investigate and get back to you with any finding of the root cause. Thanks!

    Thank you very much

  • Help! Content generation error. [Error: Unable to read JPEG.]

    Hey all -
Havben't seen this one in the forums. I'm importing an article into an existing folio. The processing status bar goes to the end, but before upload starts, I get this error:
    Content generation error.
    [Error: Unable to read JPEG.]
Any idea how to troubleshoot this? I'm up against a hard deadline and really need to get this worked out. Thanks!

In that case it would be good, if the error message could be more specific; i.e. telling the name(s) of the JPEG images.
However, you could check all placed JPEG images, if they can be opened with PhotoShop.

  • Content generation error. Failed to open the InDesign file.

    Hey all -
In importing an article to a folio, I just received this error:
    "Content generation error.
Failed to open the InDesign file. Please confirm the file can be opened in InDesign."
The file is open right now in InDesign. I can close it and reopen it with no errors.
I've tried resaving the article to a new file. No help.
I tried creating a new folio and importing the article there. No help.
All links are good. It's a simple file with images, a scrolling pane, and some buttons that link to other articles.
Anyone else run into this problem? Any solutions?
    Thanks!

    Im getting this error also....?
Want to avoid inporting each artical on at a time. Need to import multiple articals at once.
    Thanks.

  • Pan And Zoom Overlay Content Generation Error Invalid Asset

I am attempting to create a Pan AND Zoom overlay, I can get the overlay to work if I choose Pan only, but if I choose Pan AND Zoom and then go to preview, I get the following error: "Content Generation Error: Invalid Asset". Any ideas? I am using V17 of the tools, (the latest before todays update)

What image file format are you trying to turn into a Pan-and-Zoom overlay?? I encountered this error last night (I found this thread while searching here for "Invalid Asset"), and determined that it was because I had placed a .PSD file. Once I converted the image to JPG, I got it to work.

I'm willing to bet the bank you are attempting a re-install after a previous (possibly failed) installation attempt.
There's no way to truly uninstall the Sneak Preview once you have attempted a previous install. If you're on XP then use a System Restore (Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore) and select a restore point on a date BEFORE you ever tried to install the Sneak Preview. After you do, the machine will reboot. Make sure all your prerequisites are still intact and run the install and it should work.
I did this myself after one week of banging my head on this. Best of luck --Shibli

i am new on this, what should i review into the db?
    Regards and thanks in advance
    Dma.

    Hello Daniela,
you try to perform an offline backup (which is a very uncommon way nowadays) and your SAP system is not down.
This is also described in the official documentation:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm32/helpdata/en/0d/d309664a0c11d182b80000e829fbfe/content.htm
offline: Database backup in offline mode, in other words, the database is shut down during backup. When you select this parameter, BRBACKUP checks that no SAP system users are connected to the database. If an SAP System is active, the database is not shut down and BRBACKUP terminates the process with an error message (message number BR0068E).
    Regards
    Stefan
