what is the major differences between sap R/3 4.7 ee and ecc 5.0

Hi,
From an ABAP perspective, not many changes, its just the underlying WAS has changed frm 6.20 to 6.40 and of course new features has been in the form of classes / methods.

Where to check SAP version in server

Hi,
I am new to SAP and I would like to know how can I check my SAP version in development server whether it is R/3, mySAP or Netweaver 2004s, SP stack 8 and my Enterprise portal version.
I know that it is 4.7, is it R/3?
Does it mean that if my company have installed EP and BW, SAP system will become Netweaver?

Now I am working in 4.7ee version but next month onwards in my company they r going to use 6.0
so I want to what is the canges with 4.7 to 6.0? as well can u give details about new g/l concept?

Major difference is ECC6 is netwear product having WASJAVA+ABAP
secondly support unicode apart from this we have other diff. you can get fom master guide from service.sap.com/instguides
For installing ECC 6.0 you required a solution manager key.With out solutionmanager key you cannot install ECC6.0.
For ECC 6.0 is called netweaver component here you have ABAP+JAVA stack.
ECC6.0 supports UNCODE.
For installing 4.6 you don't required solution manager key.It only having ABAP stack.
4.6C supports NONUNICODE.

Input Tax - difference between sap version 4.7 and version 5

Hi All
I done total customising of input tax on sap version 4.7 as well as version 5.
now I want to enter following invoice through t.code F-43:-
   Raw Material Cost                           50,000.00
Add:- Excise                                       8,000.00
Add:- E.Cess                                          240.00
Add:- Vat                                             2329.60
So we are to pay to vendor Rs. 60,569.60.
Now when use sap version 4.7 & run t.code F-43, then if I enter Rs. 60,569.60 against g.l of vendor & purchase, then system accept it.
But when I use sap version 5 & run t.code F-43, then I have to enter Rs. 60,569.60 against g.l of vendor & Rs. 50,000 against g.l of purchase, then only system accept the entry.
why so. Plz clarify

there are lot of changes like i observe
1, in rebates there is no advanced rebate processing in 4.7
2. there is no scale group field in condrecords of agrement in rebate agreement.
3. there are lot of new reports available in SIS
4. in sales returns process also seperate config available in 6.0

SAP Version to be added in the subject line while posting a question.

Hi,
We all have been posting and answering thousands of questions on the SDN. Many times I have seen moderators asking the person who posted a question to use a correct and informative subject line.
With respect to that, I would like to suggest the moderators to add a rule in the rules of engagement asking the users to provide the SAP Version in the subject line while posting questions.
This way the person answering the question can appropriately provide information based on that version only and would save the time and effort of everyone.
Example subject line can be :
ECC 6.0 Function module xyz is not returning correct results.
I would like to know the opinion of other users too on what they think about this suggestion.

In theory - a very good idea.
In practice - hard to enforce.
On second thoght, it could be a required parameter. It might have the added benefit of dissuading questions from people who can't figure out which version they have

What is user name and password for SLES10 SP1 SAP Version

Hello,
In order to install SAP NetWeaver 7.0 - Java and ABAP Trial Version on Linux - VMware Edition , I download SLES10 SP1 Vmware SAP version from novell, when I played SLES10SP1_Test_Drive.vmx,
the suse linux enterprse server was start. It asked me to input user name and password. I input slesuser and password is novell. But it was not correct. Who knows what user name and password I need input?
any help ?

I have the same issue, I tried user root and password root doesn't work I've tried couple fo "stupid" word or root user but didn't work
Looks like we both missing file "index.html" so I suppose this is bug from Novell and SAP
I will let you know if I found anything.

Where to download SLES10 SP1 SAP Version?

SAP Versions for B1i

Hi all,
I tried to add new SAP versions (e.g. ERP2004, 2005) to the drop down list in landscape configurator in control center but they are not visible.
I added new modified xml files ( copies of R3.47.200.xml) to setup/com.sap.b1i.repository\SysType.xml folder and Patch folder too but nothing goes on.
I don't know, if it is important to change or add newer SAP Versions but I would like to do this because of better documentation.
Has anybody tried this successfully??
The workaround which is described in this posting: SAP Business One Integration Technology does not work for me.

now it is official. I wrote an message to SAP support regarding this issue and the reply is the following:
sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I was double checking with t
he development department just to be sure of teh reply.
<b>Unfortunately ERP2004/2005 is not supported in the current release.</b>
It is very helpful to get information about inserting new entries in dropdown list of control center but they are for nothing because B1i does'nt support this SAP releases. Thanxx god I can connect to 4.6C ( which is out of maintenance) but not to the both newest releases of SAP ( ERP2004 comes up 3 years ago!!!)
Ok , 2 weeks of trying and working for nothing. It seems I have to wait nearly 2 or 3 years until our current SAP release is supported.

PS: on Cebit 2007 SAP sales team told me: of course ERP is supported!!

Data types in SAP version 4.0

I have a requirement of copying a program from SAP version 4.7 to version 4.0.However String data type is not supported by version 4.0.
What are the data types in version 4.0.?
Is there any substitute of using sring data type in version 4.0 as I have to store a value
whose length can be even more than 500 characters.

User Exits or BADIs for MM41/42 in SAP Version 4.6b

My requirment is that when the user create a new article by MM41 or changes an existing one by MM42. Certain checks shoud be applied.
Checks required are:-
1)Articles should always have their Unit of Dimension as MM(other dimensions should not be accepted )
2)Articles should always have the volume unit as CCM(other volume units should not be accepted )
3)EAN numbers should be present only for Alternative Unit of Measures EA and OUT.
4)     The dimensions (Length, Width and Height) should always be double digits (should be more than or equal to 10)
I want to know by which User Exit or BADI (in SAP Version 4.6.b) can this be achieved.
Its very URGENT..Please help.

Yes. In the ecatt script you have the option under ATTRIBUTES --> VERISONING DATA you can restrict it to different software components and different releases.
