  • SAP-BW. 7.30 Differentiators and Upgrade

    Hi All
We are in the process of consider upgrade of our present BI-7.0 (EhP1) to the latest BW 7.30 version,I was able to read a document released by SAP on BW7.3 in the month of April this year and also read all the blogs related to 7.3 , but I would like to understand the impact or benefits our company will get when we upgrade our BW system to latest version in detail So
    I would like to know
    1)BW 7.3 differentiators
      a) What additional features are being added?  ( I know a new function called Dataflow Generation wizard , and changes in the
Infopackage for automatic Init loads , and semantic partions of DSO and Cubes are added, But would like to what are other
features or changes which are added ?)
b)How BO integration works with BW 7.3?( As the document says , it will easy to integerate BOE , may you please detail me how
and why the integeration is simplified , and how the integeration of Crystal report server or Xeclius tool will work , Is Cystal
Report server or Xeclius provided as a default Add on to the new SAP Netweaver BW7,3 server, or will we have to maintain
      them seperately on different machines/servers?)
c)What are the front-end tools for BW 7.3? ( are any new front end tools added, will our BEx Query designer or explorer are still
        supported with 7.3?)
    2. Upgrade options/considerations
a)How to upgrade to BW 7.3?( presently we are SAP netweaver 2004s 7.0 and recently installed EhP1 , so for BW7.3 we
need to install EhP3 or do we need to change for present server
b)Prerequisites to the Upgrade( Any hard ware limitation, or any server specifications or any mandatory things like BWA?)
c)What are the minimum H/W and Front-end requirements?
    3. Compatibility
a)What are the ECC, CRM, SRM,.... versions that BW 7.3 will be compatible?
b)How does the BEx reports will work on BW 7.3?
c)Is WAD supported on BW 7.3?
d)Will Admin Cockpit works on BW 7.3?
e)Are BW security roles work on BW 7.3?
    Thanks in Advance
    Krishna
NOTE: I had already gone through the SAP PPT released in the month of April , But was not able to get answers to my above question , so request you not to point again to the same PPT .

    Hello All,
I am also doing a BW7.3 upgrade and wondering if you have a project plan I could leverage.
Sorry to impose like, however I am at a disadvantage since I never did a BW upgrade before.
Would you be able to assist?
    Thanks so much.

  • Issue with SAP GUI 7.30 launching with users upgrading from 7.10

We started rolling out SAP 7.30 GUI Final 7300.3.7.117 out to people, and we've ran into this error with people who had upgraded from SAP GUI 7.10.
Our environmental variable uses saplogon.ini (SAPLOGON_INI_FILE) and points to c:\windows\saplogon.ini
I don't know why the program is trying to search for saplogontree.xml.
I've tried uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling. Deleting some of the %appdata% SAP folders.
I need some guidance as people who upgraded from GUI 7.20 do not run into this issue.

This popup would make sense Jason,as the path C:\Windows\SapLogonTree.xml would not be a valid path to this file.
Really, 7.10 should not have been used at all as an upgrade path as this had finished support in 2009
If you have a small number of users with 7.10, it's recommend to remove it via add/remove programs in the OS, then install a clean 7.30 gui.
The environment variable should not point to C:\Windows\ at all since this is a restricted folder in
Windows Vista and higher, and will only cause further trouble later on in the updates

  • SAP R/3 4.6C Cable Solutions upgrade to ECC 6.0 DIMP

    Hi all.
We are planning to upgrade SAP R/3 4.6C system (Cable solutions) to an SAP ECC 6.0 (EHP4 - DIMP). We have few questions related to this upgrade.
    1. Since Cable solutions add-on is no more available in ECC 6.0 and its getting replaced with DIMP, what kind of data conversion/migration we need to perform before or after upgrade?
    2. Is there a data migration document available in SDN or SMP? We could not find such document though the note  664712 says there is a document ""Migration from Cable Solution V4.6C/1A to DIMP""
    3. Does the data conversion/migration will happen from SAP 4.6C to ECC 6.0 or it needs an SCM system?
    Thanks & Regards
    Senthil

Thank you for your reply Gerald & Sunny.
Still I am not clear on the following
    1. Where do we get the CS-to-DIMP-Migration-Guide.pdf document?
    2. Is SCM a mandatory? or all CS data can be migrated to ECC 6.0 DIMP system?
would appreciate, if someone can throw some insight

  • SAP Query selection screen issues after ECC upgrade

    Hi all
We have a custom query created and assigned to a custom transaction code, which after upgrade to ECC 6.0 we find that the selection screen layout is different from what was available in 4.6C system.
All the fields required are available.
However, the sequence of the fields on the screen is different from the 4.6C after the upgrade.
Can anyone help identify the issue so that the issue can be resolved?
    Thanks
    Vinodh S

    Hi N_niki
There is no resolution as such.
We had raised a Customer message with SAP and were informed that this was expected as the procedure to execute the reports was changed in ECC when compared to 4.6 (technical changes) and hence this issue shall remain for some queries wherein the old changes need to be brought back using an option in the SAP Query.
Please refer to SAP Note # 723577 which could provide a better explanation for the issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • SAP ECC 6.0 service pack level upgrade from 15 to 18 impact on SAP SRM 5.0

I am already facing issue in BBPGET VD  and HR Interface with SAP SRM.Workflow issue while testing in EBQ.

    Hello,

  • /usr/sap/trans (data/cofiles) is empty before upgrading 46C- ECC60

After homogeneous system copy from a 46C production system (PRO) to an upgrade test server (DES), and after the execution of SE06, the DES import queue is empty (/usr/sap/trans/cofiles and /usr/sap/trans/data directories doe not contain files).
Some objects were changed in PRO along the years using change requests, and these changes are reflected in DES also, but DES does not have those change requests in the queue. However DES is ready to upggrade.
I would like to know if I can expect problems during the upgrade of DES, from 46C to ECC 6.0 due to the absence of those change requests. I think the upgrade process could ignore all changes and additions made.
    What do think?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
Since you copy your production system to test system then all changes that you have done over the time will be there in the system. Data file and cofile are not required. You can start with your upgrade preparations.
    Thanks

  • Business Objects SAP Transports overwrite the BW 7.3 Upgrade Crystal Object

    Hello All,
We recently Upgraded our BW environment to 7.3 from 7.0 NW. And we also implemented BI 4.0 SP2, and as part of Integrating BI with BW put in 8 SAP transports which I have listed below. After the 7.3 upgrade to BW we were asked to put in SP5 and then the SPAU comes back with a conflict with one of the BI transports. After doing a compare it seems the CRYSTAL namespace is now part of 7.3 and these BI transports for SAP were created in 2005, so by putting these transports in (for BI to BW connectivity) we have overwrtten some 7.3 code?
My question is do we have a new set of transports for BI to BW 7.3 connectivity? I couldn't find any such in the installation guide or OSS notes for BI

Hi Paul, I opened a message with SAP under the BI area, and it has been routed to the BEX-BW team now. I would suggest open a message for the BEX-BW group since your Upgrade is getting stuck during Enhancement. Also talking to the BI folks on phone I got the impression that althoguht BW 7.3/7.0x have most of the objects in the standard SAP namespace they still want us to import the 8 or 9 transports as mentioned in the BI Guide. It feels that the SAP BW development and SAP BI development are not at the same page and causing these conflicts. Sorry couldn't be of much help to you.

  • SAP CRM 4.0 to 5.0 Upgrade Risks vs. Benefits

    Hi all,
We have to upgrade from CRM 4.0 to CRM 5.0. Can some one kindly inform me the benefits and  risks involved in it.
    Regards,
    SM

Obviously there are lot of new features in CRM 5.0.There are certain risks involved in upgrade epsecially in Interaction Center module. We have upgraded from 4.0 to 5.0 and faced lot of issues within IC Web Client area. But it was done couple of months back and I am hoping that SAP would have identified them and released a support pack with solutions.
To understnad the new 5.0 features better get CRM 5.0 release notes and analyze the advantages you get in your business scenario.
    Thanks,

  • SAP BPC 7.0 - Microsoft Platform - SP Upgrade Question

    Hi Experts,
I was tasked to upgrade the SP of our client's SAP BPC 7.0 -Microsoft Platform System from Release 7.0.116 (SP07) to SP09. Details are below
    Prod System:
    Multi Server : 2 Servers
    Application Server:
    Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Ed SP2 32-Bit
    IIS Web Server
    SAP BPC 7.0 Release 7.0.116
    Database Server:
    Microsoft Windows Server 2003 x64 64-Bit
    MS SQL 2008 64-Bit
My question, since Server Manager Version 7.0.116 is equal to SP07, do i need to download SP08 and SP09, and then apply SP08, and the underlying patch on top of SP08, then SP09, or can i just simply download only SP09 and then install it only in our App Server, since it was mention in the Upgrade Guide that SP of SAP BPC are cumulative. And if there are any configuration settings that i need to take unto consideration? I'm new to this one since I'm accustomed of SP Upgrade in SAP ECC Systems in TxCode SPAM.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
After performing the steps Nilanjan suggested you may want to look at the Post-Installation Steps recommended by SAP. They are as below:
    Post-Installation Steps
    1. If you already have an application set in your previous version, do the following:
    a) After installing this support package, update existing reports by choosing Publish Report on the Web Administration page.
    b) If you have already enabled Insight, update existing reports by choosing Build Report on the Insight Dashboard page.
    c) To apply fixes available for business rules, choose Modify Application within the Administration Console. Do not select options related to desired application.
    2. This support package contains an appset parameter called RETRIEVE_ON_OFFLINE. To restrict data retrieval while an application set is unavailable, access the Appset Parameter page within Web Administration, then add a key named RETRIEVE_ON_OFFLINE with one of the following values:
1, which allows retrieval or data export while the application set is unavailable.
0, which prevents retrieval or data export while the application set is unavailable.
Log off and then logon to BPC for Office if the system offline message displays after setting the application set to Available. This downloads the dimension cache file if a dimension member or structure has changed while the system was offline.
    3. We recommend changing the syntax of dimension formulas related to CSS message [IM 1249006] Data Integrity Issue with Account dimension / 4 Hierarchies as follows:
    a) Use [%dimension%].[%current hierarchy%].CurrentMember. Level.Ordinal>0 instead of [%dimension%].[%the other hierarchy%].[All %dimension%.%the other hierarchy%] in dimension formulas to check the status of the current view of the current hierarchy because the current member may have been changed as a member of another hierarchy within multiple hierarchy dimensions.
    b) Use 0 (zero) instead of NULL in IIF statements when the member from the current view does not match the condition of the IIF statement, as NULL may return an incorrect value. For example, if the hierarchy is the third hierarchy, #iif([Account].[H3].CurrentMember.Level.Ordinal>0,%Arg%, 0).
    4. To run the Management Console in multiple server environments, change Authentication and Access Control of the ManagementConsole virtual directory in IIS from Integrated Windows Authentication to Basic Authentication. You can find the virtual directory on the Application server in the Directory Security tab of the virtual directory's property in IIS.
    Hope this helps.
    Santosh

  • SAP BW 3.5 to 7.3 upgradation (Authorizations)

    Dear Gurus,
We are upgrading one of our BW system from 3.5 to 7.3 and I was asked to take care of the authorizations part.  But the catch is I never dealt with authorzations and luckily with the help of experts at SDN i have got a very good amount of inputs.
My current situation is i was asked to prepare a document for this portion of the project.  I am not having any template document to go ahead.  A template  and general In Scope and Out of Scope bullet points(with respect to authorizations) would help me in a great way to accomplish my goal.
Thank you in advance for your kind help.

    Dear Expert :
We also have a plan to updrade BW 3.5 to BW 7.3. I have following questions need you kindly sharing your experience.
We will plan to perform Technical upgrade from BW 3.5 to BW 7.3, After that we will migrate BW 3.5 Object to BW 7.3 native mode.
    Thanks !!
    1. If we do Technical upgarde from BW 3.5 to BW 7.3 first , after that we will migrate BW 3.X object to BW 7.3 Native mode. For data extraction, Can we keep original Delta extract process? or we will loss delta status and need to do initial extract again for delta datasource.
    2. For data load performance, dose it will improve that if we migrate to 7.3 Mode or It didn't have big improve for BW 3.x mode and  BW 7.3 native mode?
    3. For Query report performance, dose it will improve that if we migrate to 7.3 Mode or keep in 3.x mode?
    4. Our BW system have a lot of data, dose it will impact the tecn upgrade time? Data volumn will impace system tech upgrade time or not? We need to estimate system down time for tech upgrade.
    5. For BW 7.3 authorization, It is total difference with Bw 3.5.  After Technical upgrade, what do we need to change for authorization? Do you have any document for me to reference ?
Need your kindly input and Thanks first.

  • Are SAP BEx Favorites Overwritten when SAPGui is upgraded?

We are upgrading from SAPGui 6.40 to SAPGui 7.10 patch level 10.  We are still using BW 3.5, so we are also installing the BW 3.5 add-in.  Is it possible to maintain your saved BEx queries so that you do not have to recreate them after the SAPGui is upgraded?  I am trying to minimize troubles for our end users, and I could not find an answer this question on the web.
    Thank you for your help.
