SAP XI 3.0 Migration from earlier SP to a later one

Hello XI Gurus!!
We have two development environments Dev1 and Dev2; the first is on SP14 and the second on SP20.  We need to either replicate the changes made on Dev1 into Dev2, but Basis is concern about any issues that may come up because of the different SPs versions,  or migrate the changes from Dev1 to Dev2, which I think is the right thing to do.  I would like to know if there are any known issues when you migrate objects from an earlier support pack version to a later one (XI 3.0 SP14 to SP20).
Please, let me know...
Thanks....

Villar,
Take a backup and try to upgrade to a latest one and this should not have any issues.

  • Migrating from weblogic 8.1 to sun one server

I need some documentation that could guide, in steps involved, in migrating an J2ee application from weblogic 8.1 to sun one application server.
    Please help.

Do you have any migration guide from weblogic 8.1 to sunserver 8.1?
We want to know how to handle null in jsp? Because in weblogic 8.1, we can set printNulls to false in weblogic.xml file. Is there any way we can do this in sun server?

  • Migrating from Powerbook G4 to MacBook (late 2008)

Just got a new MacBook. I'm wondering whether I should use Migration Assistant or just copy my old files manually to the new MacBook.
My Powerbook has been through many OS upgrades that I'm thinking I should start "fresh" and just copy old files. I know that I'll have to reinstall all my third-party applications if I go this route. Which may be a good thing since I can then not install apps that I haven't used in a while.
    Questions:
    1. Does it really matter whether I do the migration manually or through the Migration Assistant? i.e., do I really need to start "fresh" without all the "junk" (if there really are any) from all the OS upgrades through the years on my old Powerbook?
    2. Has anyone done a manual migration? If so, perhaps someone can share what they did -- e.g., how you moved things like email (POP), calendar, address book, etc.
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

I just plugged an ethernet cable from my two notebooks and started the Migration Assistant and it just transferred everything over. Remember to create a temporary user instead of an actual user that has an identical username as on your old system because I have ran into issues.
Only settings and software were migrated. No system software components were moved over for obvious reasons.

  • Migration from 32-bit to 64-bit on Oracle 9.2.0.5

    Hi guys.
I have two question for migration 32 bit to 64 (x86_64) bits on Oracle 9.2.0.5 for SAP 4.7 Enterprise?
    1.- When i migrated 32 bits to 64 (x86_64) bits is necesary migrated to Oracle 10 ?
In the note SAP Note 960769 - Windows: Migration from 32-bit to 64-bit (x86_64), say that, pag 4:
    " Oracle:
    =====================================
On Windows Server 2003 X86_64 (64-bit), you may only use Oracle 10g Release 2 (10.2) software for X86_64 (64-bit) as a database. Note 949116 describes the installation (homogenous system copy) of old products that were not originally released on Oracle 10g Release 2 (10.2). If you want to make the copy using the backup/restore procedure, for which the source database was not yet upgraded to Oracle 10.2, see Note 932722"
But, in the pam matrix say that support for 9.2.
    I confused for the information.
2.- In the case that is not necessary to migrate to oracle 10, i can execute the migration to 64 bits the SAP 4.7 with the procedure Backup/Restore?
I don´t have the new server, the server for the migration is the same. The procedure you want to follow is:
    1.- Backup Offline all server.
2.- Delete the server, i install the server on Windows 2003 64 bits.
3.- Install SAP 4.7 on kernel 64 bits.
4.- Restore de backup offline (only data): datafiles, archive log, redo log.
    Aprecciated for the help.
    Best regards,
    Desiré

    Hi,
    According to Note:814834
#Note that there is currently no 64-bit support for the x86_64 platform
for Oracle 9.2 because Oracle does not provide a 64-bit DB client for this purpose,
and, in addition, 64-bit operation of the DB server is not supported.
This means that this DB version can only be used in conjunction with SAP components on
Windows 32-bit on x86_64 hardware in 32-bit mode.
For more information, refer to the "Oracle" section in the note.
Furthermore, it states 32bit SAP instance can connect ot a 32 bit Oracle 9.2 or 10.2 database instance.
So for your case, its better to upgrade your current database to Oracle 10.2 and then proceed with migration.

  • Cash Management after migration from 10.7 to 11i

    Hi All,
We migrated from 10.7 to 11.5.5.
In 10.7 we used to clear Payments using AP. We are not using accounting for clearing.
The status of the Payment after clearing will be 'Cleared But Unaccounted'.
In 11i, we setup the Cash Management. We are planning to use 'Reconciliation'.
Now, in 11i, I don't want the old data to be shown as 'Available for Reconciliation',
since, they are already cleared in 10.7.
Can any one suggest me on this.
In the same way, the old JVs in GL also should not appear as Available
    for reconciliation.
    Appreciate your help in this.
    Regds,
    Hari

  • Migration from BPC Microsoft Version to BPC netweaver Version?

    Dear all,
    we plan to migrate bpc.
what tools that we use to Migration BPC Microsoft Version to BPC netweaver Version ?
    Any suggestion for safety technique?

    Hi Tara,
As far as I know there is no automatic method provided by SAP right now to migrate from SAP BPC MS to SAP BPC NW.
Please have in mind that the front end will be the same, but the backend will be different: BW, BADIS and ABAP (In NW) vs SQL, SSIS packages, Stored Procedures and Visual Basic (In MS). Which means that there will not be an easy way to perform this migration in an automatic way.
    Hope this helps

  • How much effort for object migration from CPS Basic to Full version?

    Dear all,
I've got 2 questions concerning using SAP CPS Basic version first and migrating later to full version, looking for answer(s):
    1. Is it possible to start using the free CPS and then with some tool migrate from many isolation group as to one global ?
    2. Is there any limitation in the number of isolation groups in the free version ?
If someone have experience, would be great to get feedback.
    Look forward reading from you.
    Best Regards
    Ferry

    Hello,
    1) the product comes with a job to 'De-Isolate' the system when you install a full license. Note that you can only deisolate, it is not possible to go back from full to free.
    2) there is no limitation.

  • ABAP Adaption while migrating from Windows to Unix

    Dear All,
I am working on a project where SAP system has been migrating from Windows to Unix os. Because of this all ABAP which are using Files, Operating system command has to be adapted as well.
How can I get such a list of ABAP objects which will be affected by this migration.
Example I can look for Dataset command, External OS Commands and so on..
Please advice if there is a straight forward way to get such a list?
Your prompt response would be higly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hello -
You need to visit URL - System Copy and Migration
Also refer to SAP note 547314, and the System Copy Guide for your SAP
release on SAP Service Marketplace :

  • Migrating from standalone ITS to internal ITS u0096 copy existing templates

    Dear Sirs,
I am in the process of migrating from Standalone ITS to the internal one. I have found several documents on the issue and the help section for the migration, http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/cd/8a424089ff2571e10000000a155106/content.htm
Currently I am using a standalone ITS server, 6.20 PL13, to access/run IAC components on ERP2004 server ZXY. In the new setup I wan to run the internal ITS on server ZXY instead.
I have however a question regarding the process. Step one in the process is to Copy the existing templates.
If I enter the transaction SE80, I am not able to see all of the IAC component names which are referenced in my portal iViews.  I therefore assume that the ones which does not show up, has not been converted properly.
I therefore go into transaction SIAC1 to look for them there (as described in ITS – New storage structures as of Web SAP AS 6.40, 678904), but I am however unable to find them there either.
Do I have to go the current ITS server and somehow copy the files/IAC manually (save on disk), and then upload then with SIAC_UPLOAD (from se38) onto the R/3 system. Or do they exist already on my R/3 system just that they aren’t shown?
Could a solution be that the name of the IAC component in the portal iview, differs from the name actually used in the R/3 system.
Any pointers or hints on this issue are appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Jørgen

    Deepak Sharma,
Thank you for your reply. But I have already published the services internally and actually have used the 'webgui' service successfully.  What I am trying to do now is to copy the custom services (there are only 2) to the integrated ITS from my standalone ITS server.

    following problem here:

The Primary Domain Controller shows every 2, 3 or 4 hours the DNS EventID 4015. No further error is available: (which is may emty) "".

    ======================================
The Migration was made by the following steps:
Bring Up the first 2012 MigrationDC as 3rd DC to the Domain.
Move the FSMO Roles to the 2012 MigrationDC
DHCP Data migrated with Server Migration Tools, IAS Data with iasmigrader.exe exported
    DCPromo DC1 (2003 R2) and Format C:
Install a fresh 2012 Installation on old DC1 an rename it again with the original Name DC1
DHCP Data migrated with Server Migration Tools, IAS Data with iasmigrader.exe exported
    DCPromo DC2 (2003 R2) and Format C:
Install a fresh 2012 Installation on old DC2 an rename it again with the original Name DC2
Move Back the FSMO Roles to DC1
    DCPromo the first 2012 MigrationDC
    Metadata Cleanup for MigrationDC
DCDIAG /V /C Shows no Errors, all works good, the funny Thing is, that only DC1 Shows the DNS EventId 4015 in production evironment. The only exception is, that if you reboot DC1 (i.e. for maintenance, upates etc) than the error appears on DC2. Exactly on
that time, if DC1 is temporarily not availble and DC2 is under "load". If DC1 is back again, the Event 4015  Ends on DC2 and Comes back to DC1!!!
I backupped and restored DC1 and DC2 in an lab Environment, the funny Thing is that the EventID 4015 doesnt appear in lab Environment. The difference between prod and lab is: prod is bare metal with 2 teamed nics, lab is hyper-v vm's with 2 virtual teamed
nics. same IP's etc... DNS NIC Settings are the same.
It Looks like you can only produce the error in the production lab if you have the DC under "load".
This Event was discussed here more than one time in the Forum, but the issues doesnt match 100% to my Problem. No RODC is available in my prod Environment, the EventID 4015 has no further Errors "" in the Eventlog like in other Posts.
Ace Fekays blog :" Using ADSI Edit to resolve conflicting or duplicate AD Integrated Zones" was helpful for metadata cleanup, but it could not fix the EventId 4015 away. Because we had no Problems with disappearing zones...
Maybe Enabling NTDS Verbose Logging in the registry is helpful, but i dont know for what i have to Keep an eye out?
    The thread
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/c0d3adb4-67d2-470c-97fc-a0a364b1f854/dns-server-error-event-id-4015-after-replacing-domain-controller-with-another-using-same-name?forum=winserverDS seems to match to my Problem, but also no
    soulution available...
Any ideas what causes this "ugly" Event without noticable consequences?

  • Time Machine fails to backup files migrated from Windows

Hi there - I have a really annoying issue whereby I have a machine with a TC on the LAN which fails to backup.
The scenario is thus - Mac Snow Leopard server which has files migrated from an old Windows server to one specific disk. This is where all the data resides so this is the only volume I actually really need to back up.
However I keep getting the message that Time machine could not write to the device after a certain period of time with the classically unhelpful:-
Console log mumbles on about what I suspect is the path/length of path or filenames which I understand. Question is - how do I get round this? There are thousands of files in here so I cannot ask the users to go around renaming the files and shortening the folder names (to be honest it doesnt seem that they are too long to me in any case).
The files are shared using both AFP and SMB as a standard Sharepoint and the users on both Mac and PC have no problems at all accessing them, hence my confusion as to why TM has a problem with the file/folder names.
Chocolate biscuit (or equivalent for those on detox) for anyone who can throw me a bone here.
    Cheers and thanks in advance,
    Si

Not really sure if this is what you mean about Outlook database, but the correct answer may be in this thread's last post:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3356959?start=0&tstart=0
Basically the same information you can find here:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macoffice2011-macoutlook/help-my-ma in-identity-hosed-restore-from-time/a9992719-3ae0-479d-bf0a-7c8279653ffa
"The first time that you open Outlook after restoring a Time Machine backup, Outlook rebuilds its database to accommodate the restored items. If you have a very large database, rebuilding the database might take a long time."
    Hope this helps.

  • How to Migrate from SAP BO XI 3.1 system to SAP BI 4.1

    Hello Gurus,
I got a new project and I have to start Upgrade and Migration from BO XIR3.1 to BI 4.1. Please help me out here. More detail are given below. Appreciated in advance.
    1.1    Technical Scope
Installation of only a production SAP BI 4.1 environment.
Repository is currently on DB2 but will be on SQL Server for the BI 4.1 implementation.
All VMware machines: The new architecture calls for 12 VM servers.
Row-level Security in the universe for authorization of content and Enterprise for Authentication (no SSO). Matrix security model with custom level groups which gives Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced level users to pre-defined folders and content.
Migrate content (objects, universe and instances) from SAP BO XI 3.1 to SAP BO BI 4.1 for the technical upgrade, the details are below:
Universes will stay in the UNV format and will not be converted to UNX.
    Only WebI Documents
All Controlled Folders - (~5600 documents)
174 Total objects in Public Documents folders (All documents to upgrade & remediate)
5,433 Total WebI reports in Corporate and other folders (All documents to upgrade, & remediate)
    User Folders – (~6,000 documents)
6000 + Webi documents accessed in 2013 ( All 6000 + documents to upgrade, NO remediation)
    Inbox – None will migrate
Total Documents to remediate: up to 5,607
    Migrate all universes and connections
Migrate all Xcelsius and agnostic documents with no remediation.
The estimated report count for remediation by complexity, Low-1525, Medium-150 and High-50.
Assumes a 10% report remediation effort described earlier sections
Report remediation: should it exceed the base assumptions made in this document, will be implemented as a Change Order. Effort for such change will be mutually agreed between parties. Price to project is determined using this effort and blended rates.
    Testing:
Conduct planning and inventory analysis; Reusable templates for Migration Plan, Validation.
    Perform migration
Use the Right Sized Testing framework to plan and conduct testing
Use the automated Reports Compare tools to compare large volumes of excel / xml data
Templates based remediation– ensures quality control
    Thanking you best regards.
    AK.

  • Data migration from legacy system to SAP

    hi all,
could you please post some docs on migration from legacy system to SAP system., also the problems faced while migration and best practices in data migration
    regards
    sridharan

    Hi ,
I require few details from you.
    1. What ETL tool you are using, If Informatica, it already have PowerConnect to connect to SAP. So you can create source and Target Structure and also you can use RFC's to send data to R/3. Else, for other ETL tools, can you prepare RFC's or any other way to send data to R/3. let me know the tool.
    2. Does R/3 contains the master data tables? If yes, then try to use LSMW for Mass upload of data to tables.
If your client don't want to use either of these options please elaborate, what is the case.
    Regards
    Aashish Sinha
