SAP XI Server Cleanup Activity

Hi All,
what cleanup activities should we schedule in XI server to prevent  'hard Disk space getting full' problem?
Ranjeet Singh.

1)Log on to your IR with the Super user id and go to the change list and you can assign the change list of other users to your Super user and then delete / activate as per requirment instaed of doing it for every used id separately.
2) Why cannot you delete the tpz files from the IR and ID at the OS level ?If it is a test system, you can think of doing that and refresh the cache.Be Extra-Cautious when doing it.Try doing that for one small object and do cache refresh.Make sure you delete the ID objects as well correspondingly otherwise cache will reesult in errors.

  • Com.sap.aii.util.server.auth.activation

I am trying to set up a Role that can limit XI IR Developers. For some reason I do not see the property com.sap.aii.util.server.auth.activation in my Exchange Profile. One of the steps says to set this to true. I am on XI 3.0 SP15.
Is this property required or not?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Michael,
yes this property is required. If it is not available within your Exchange Profile yet, you can add it by using the button Create Property. After that you need to restart the J2EE instance.
Most Exchange Profile properties are added during installation but some might need to be created later on.

  • When should SAP Country Versions be activated ?

Should SAP Country Versions be activated within the Global SAP Template prior to the wave roll outs to avoid retrofitting during the waves?
    Situation:
We have completed the global SAP template and are ready to roll it out to 50 countries. Wave 1 (of 4) implementation project has just started but does not require any of the complex Country Versions. Those are only needed in waves 2 and 3.
    Decision point:
Should all Country Versions (that will eventually be needed) be activated prior to the 1st go-live or only once the specific country will go live?
    Concern:
It can be expected that some Country Versions, such as India, Brazil or Japan, that include highly complex functionality, may impact the existing Global Template. For example, certain transactions (e.g. Material Master, Vendor or Customer maintenance, Goods Movements) will require additional data elements once the Country Version has been activated. Retrofitting may therefore be necessary for entities that have gone live in previous waves. Global Template rework (e.g. BPP, training material) may be necessary.

    Hello,
first of all we have to clarify the meaning of "activating a country" within a global system.
In SAP ERP, there is no "switch", which can be activated and as a result the country is active and fully implemented.
In contrast, there is the so called country installation program (see SAP note 63805 point 3) to implement SOME template settings -
however these are proposals only and will not serve as a fully activated country version.
Therefore in order to implement a country, customers have to do much more than using the country installation program.
Hence the effort to do this in a proper way is rather high (especially for the complex countries).
In theory you are right - it would be the best for the template approach to have all the countries implemented and as a result to have a
rather stable global template. However this is usually NOT reality in customer projects. In most cases, it does not make sense to invest
into the country implementation several years in advance. As an example, testing of the implementation is an important aspect -
this would be needed twice - as there are legal changes and these have to be implemented in the countries.
Summing it up, it is rather best business practice to adapt the global template (and take the risk of changing functionality for countries
which are already live) while implementing additional countries rather than do everything in one shot.
There might be a few exceptions to this rule for very special requirements:
Example: India and Brazil have requirements which touch the logistics area (in Brazil: (electronic) Nota fiscal). Here it could make sense to consider these requirements in the initial phase of the template design.

     Some questions:
Are there any other databases running on this Std Edition SQL service?
[a] Yes there are, we have Kaspersky enterprise DB, Report Server DB and local application DB.
Are there any other services running on this WSUS Server?
[b] Yes there are, we have Active Directory, Kaspersky enterprise, SQL Server 2005, and WSUS all on the same server.
How many days since your WSUS server was first installed?
    [c] It's been about a year now.
What is the physical size of the SUSDB.mdf file?
    [d] 9,666,752 KB
What is the hardware configuration of this machine, including disk drives?
    [e] Intel Xeon 1.86, 2GB Ram, HD C: 39GB - E: 25.2, running Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2.
How many client systems are you servicing from this WSUS Server?
    [f] Around 40.
    What products/classifications are you synchronizing.
    [g] Windows XP-vista, Windows Server 2003, Office 2003-2007, SQL Server 2005.
Okay, for starters, you have an underpowered/overextended machine running Active Directory, ASP.NET, and a database server, all on a sub 2GHz CPU with 2GB RAM, and not enough disk spindles. The machine has had WSUS running for about a year and is 9GB in size.
There's no doubt in my mind that some of your performance issues are directly related to disk and database fragmentation.
There's also no doubt that some of your performance issues are directly related to memory starvation.
I'd suggest the following long-term fixes:
    1. Get a second machine. Make it a dedicated database server. Provision it accordingly to support servicing multiple database applications.
    2. Lacking #1, this machine needs more memory. It also needs more disk spindles. At a minimum the databases being serviced should be on a dedicated physical drive; ideally there would be two dedicated drives allocated for supporting database services. The
For the short-term fixes, do this:
    1. During after-hours time, if you don't already have one, build a temporary machine that can act as a DC/GC, while you take this machine temporarily offline.
    1. Shutdown the Update Services service, SQL Server database engine, and any other services dependent on the SQL Server database engine (Kapersky, and other reporting applications). Disconnect from the network to temporarly eliminate DC traffic. (You could also shutdown the AD services, but disconnecting the network cable is ever-so-much easier.) Defragment ALL drives.
    2. Restart ONLY the SQL Server service. Obtain this SQL script to Reindex the WSUS Databases.
    3. Restart ONLY the Update Services service. Attempt the Server Cleanup Wizard again. Run it in two passes. Pass 1 performing everything except  remove unused updates. Pass 2 running only remove unused updates.
    4. After completion of the Server Cleanup Wizard, reconnect the machine to the network and resume all other services.
    5. If you're able to complete #3, secure the services of a well-qualified DBA to determine if there are any misconfigurations in your SQL Server setup that would account for why your WSUS database is 9GB in size -- such as improperly configured autogrowth parameters. Based on the products you're updating and only forty clients, 9GB is about 3x the maximum size I would expect to see in a WSUS database. It's possible this is simply caused by excess unused updates, it's possible it's caused by fragmentation, it's probable it was caused by unnecessary autogrowth of the database due to insufficient update maintenance. You'll want a DBA to assist you in shrinking that database after you successfully run the Database Maintenance and Server Cleanup Wizard.

  • SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise vs SQL Server

    Hi all,
I'm looking a technical document that compare SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise with SQL Server, anyone have information about this?
    thanks in advance

Not a technical response but one more of keeping your sanity.
    Basically:
On Windows: use SQL Server *unless* you have an application or a specific requirement to use another DBMS.  SQL Server can't be beat on windows for integration with the os and Active Directory.
On Unix/Linux:  use whatever you want that meets the needs of the project.  Of course, we're partial to the Sybase products (ASE, IQ, SQL Anywhere, etc)
On mainframe: use DB2 for zOS

  • BO 4.0: Database error:Unable to connect to SAP BW server Incomplete logon

    Hello Experts,
I have enabled a 'SSO to database' between SAP BW and Business objects by referencing to the documents related to below link.
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/HowtosetupSSOagainstSAPBWinSBOBI4.0forLDAPusers
I have created a universe connection with option 'use single sign on when refreshing reports at view time' and have created a universe on top of my BEx query by log-in to the universe designer tools using my LDAP account.
Now when I run the report with either SAP account or LDAP - I am able to run a adhoc webi report on this universe and get data either through the webi rich client or via BO 4.0 Info-view/Launch Pad.
But the issue is that when other users are trying to run webi queries on this universe either through Info-view/launch pad or rich client by log-in via LDAP Authentication - they get the below error: I have given SAP_ALL to this user for time being and also have done the necessary configuration for 'simple user format' in CMC so these user has 1 account with 3 alias definitions: Enterprise, SAP, R/3.
Database error: Unable to connect to SAP BW server Incomplete logon data -
If the user logs on into the BO 4.0 Info-view/launch pad or webi rich client using his SAP authentication than he is able to run and retrieve data.
I also get a dump in the SAP BW system - I analyzed the dump in SAP BW using st22 tcode and it gives the error short text as - Incomplete logon data and run-time error - CALL_FUNCTION_SIGNON_INCOMPL
    Desired outcome:
I want the users to log-in to webi rich client or BO 4.0 Launch pad/Info-view using their 'LDAP' authentication and run reports against the universe on SAP BW/BEx query without any errors or additional username/password requirements.
Can someone please tell me if I am missing any steps/configuration and guide me to achieve the above mentioned desired result ?
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks & regards,
    CD.

    Whether your problem is solved?
We have the same problem in BO Mobile.
Two users from one BW-role, BO-groups; one user report is executed, another user - error incomplete logon data. In Web Intelligence both users reports succeeds.

  • Open/edit documents on SAP Content Server from BW?

    Hi guys
I have been asked to investigate whether this scenario is possible.
Today we have a SAP Content Server where we save attachments to different kinds of objects. An example could be that we open appropriation request 'S-00123' from IMA11 and attach two different MS Word documents.
In BW I have created several reports that contain these appropriation requests and we would like to be able to attach/edit the files on the content server from the BW report.
Is this somehow possible using RRI or some other functionality?
Might it even be possible by using GoTo --> Documents with the appropriate setup?

  • Exporting and importing packages SAP inst server

    Hello,
Background: we plan to migrate our current installation server to a newer hardware; we have a wide range of different packages. I could recreate them manually, but that would take a (long) while.
i wonder if there is a chance to export installation packages from one server and then import them into an other. I looked through the offical docu and found no note regarding this.
Is there a special directory within the sap installtion server  which can simply be copied to the new server?
    Best regards
    A.D

    Hi Andre
No, you can not simply copy some folders.
The official way to do a system copy, i.e,  export from the souce system, and then import it on the new system.
Then you will get the same version, patch level with the old system in the new one.
So you don't need to repeat applying all the packages.
The system copy guide can be found from
    http://service.sap.com/instguides
    - then select netweaver for example,
       -  expanding the "Installation - SAP NetWeaver Systems"
       -   there you should be able to find the sytem copy guide.

  • SAP App server on windows uses paging not RAM... need help

    Experts,
We have installed a separate SAP application server on windows 2003 service pack 2. Our server has 25 GB Ram and 2 processors each with 4 cores. We have set the extended memory of SAP to 5 GB. Now, the problem is that: when we start the SAP instance on this machine then it is taking memory from Paging not From RAM. We have paging set to 20 GB and if we examine the server then our RAM is free and paging is in used by SAP instance. Our SAP version is ERP 6.0 and NW 7.01
Please guide and help me so that SAP instance on our windows machine utilize RAM not paging.
    Thanks,,
    Yasir

I highly suggest upgrading to Windows 2008 (R2).
Windows 2003 has known issues with huge amounts of shared memory which can't be fixed in that old OS. You may decrease this effect with
Note 1009297 - Windows Server 2003 Family: High Paging Rates
The effect is also indirectly described in
Note 1316558 - System hang situations on Windows Server 2003
Upgrade to Windows 2008 (R2), Windows 2003 is almost 10 years old. It's like you would use Windows 98 on a todays PC.
