SAPConsole / Websapconsole: Logon to message server

Dear experts,
is there a way to logon to a logon group? Our production system consists out of several application servers and I can't manage it that Sapconsole is logging on to a group. It works fine for a single server, though.
Thanks!

Hello Gunter,
should work when connecting with "Saplogon Selection" and setting the correct System Description. (SAPConsole Administrator / Connection Tab)
Please make sure that your login works with the Sap Logon for SapGui first. If that works then it should work via SapConsole/WebSapConsole using the (exact) System description e.g. "R33 [PUBLIC]" (eventually by setting it manual in case the dropdown doesn't display the possibilities from saplogon.ini)

IS IT CORRECT TO ADD THE LINE..
CAN I ADD THIS LINE

I NEED YOUR VALUBALE SUGGESTIONS..

Hi,
Please change the <SID> of SAPMS<SID> to the real SID of the target system.
For exmple, if the SID is ABC, then "SAPMSABC 3600/TCP"
And about the port, actually the port should be 36<nn>.
So please find the instance number of your message server.
For example if the instance number is 00, then "SAPMSABC 3600/TCP"
if the instance number is 10, then "SAPMSABC 3610/TCP"
Hope this helps.

Summary
Symptom
Some users cannot longer connect SAP GUI to any SAP systems e.g. via SAP Logon, SAPShortcut etc. although they have not made any update to either SAP GUI or SAP system. The attempt to connect to the SAP system ends with error messages like this: "Logon balancing error: could not connect to message server (rc=9)", "service sapmsXXX unknown" or "service sapdp## unknown".
The detailed error information is as follows:
Error: service 'sap...' unknown
Component NI (network interface), ...
rc = -3, module ninti.c, line 463
Detail NiPGetServByName: service 'sap...' not found

MSN Messenger 7.5,Connection Troubleshooter
Reason and Prerequisites
The reason for this malfunction is, that the datatype of the registry value HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP\Parameters\DatabasePath
was changed from REG_EXPAND_SZ to REG_SZ.
The following programs are currently known to cause this registry change:
Starting MSN Messenger 7.5 "Connection Troubleshooter" (Build 7.5.0299).
Installation of MSN Messenger 7.0 or MSN Messenger 7.5 with the option automatic scanning and configuration of ports.
This modification prevents the expansion of environment variables in the value of the parameter. Therefore,
%SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc
is not translated to
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
and the services database is not found by the API function getservbyname().
If you have checked the datatype of registry value DatabasePath and it is REG_EXPAND_SZ, apply SAP Note 52959 to check the appropriate settings in the services file.
Solution
Start the registry editor and rename the registry value HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP\Parameters\DatabasePath
Create an Expandable-String Value (REG_EXPAND_SZ) with the same name and value.
If more PCs are affected, you can export the correct value to a .reg file and import the .reg to other PCs.
If you have the same problem although you have not installed Microsoft MSN Messenger 7.5, create a customer message, collect the following information and attach it to the message according to note 541726 or upload it to sapservX (see note 40024):
Scan your workstations for spyware and viruses with up-to-date virus definitions. If you already did that what was the result ?
What software has been installed recently ? (client software, Firewall)
Create a registry export of the following key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstallon the affected and the unaffected PC respectively and attach the two .reg files to the customer message.
Are the users on the affected workstations logged on with administrative credentials (local administrator ) ?
Create an MPS Report Networking and Setup Perf of an affected workstation so that we can check if they use an software in common.
You can download the Networking MPS Reporting Tool at:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd915706/MPSRPT_Network.exe
You can find a short description about the features of the tool at:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd915706/MPSRPT_Network_Readme.txt
The Setup Perf MPS Reporting Tool is located at:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd915706/MPSRPT_SETUPPerf.EXE
Run this report too on identically configured workstations, which are not affected.
If you have already changed back the DatabasePath parameter and if after a while the value was switched back to REG_SZ perform the following steps to help us to identify the reason for this problem:
Switch the datatype back to REG_EXPAND_SZ
Download Regmon from http://www.sysinternals.com on the affected machines
Enable auditing on the affected clients
Modify the settings of the eventlog so that no important entry is deleted!
Open Regedit and highlight HKLM\System\CCS\Services\TCPIP\Parameters
Right-click on "Parameters" and choos "Permissions" and click "Advanced".
Choose "Auditing" and "Add".
Add "Everyone" and select "this key only" under "Apply onto".
Check the boxes "Set Value" and "Delete" and click "OK".
Apply these settings
Start Regmon and apply the correct filter settings:
Press the "magnifying glass" button to stop the monitoring.
Press the rubber button to delete all logged entries.
Go to "Options Filter/Highlight".
Copy the following value to the include field: tcpip\parameters\databasepath and click "Apply".
Start Regmon by pressing the magnifying glass button
Verify that logging starts when you double-click the TCPIP Key in regedit!
If the datatype will be changed again, provide us the output of the monitoring tools.
Solution provided by Microsoft
This issue is said to be fixed as of build 7.5.0311 of MSN messenger.

• Check for the logon message server

Hello All,
in order to ensure the advantages of the load balancing we want to check if the user has used the message server for the logon to the SAP system. There is the function module EXIT_SAPLSUSF_001 that is called after each logon and we could implement this functionality there.
The problem is that we can check only the current host (sy-host) of the user session, but we can not distinguish whether the user used the application server directly or was sent to this server within load balancing functionality.
Do you have an idea / experiences for this issue?
Any suggestions would be appreciated,
Best Regards,
Kirill

Hi,
You can develop your own check and use user-exit in CO-PA (COPA0005 enhancement).

• PI 7.11: Cannot connect to server using message server:...

Hello Guys,
we make the Application Management for a Customer PI System.
Scenario:
- the SAP Gui Connection to the ABAP Stack is routed via SAPRouter and Works fine.
SAP Gui -> our SAP Router -> VPN Box from Customer -> Firewall Customer -> ABAP Stack PI System
- WebAccess its working fine, the Customer use Webdispatcher on every PI Server...
Browser -> VPN Box from Customer -> Firewall Customer -> Java Stack (Port: 5xx00 btw. 81xx (Webdispatcher))
Problem:
Our Problem ist, we can not proceed the Integration Builder or the ESB, the Java Web Start works fine and open the Logon Screen Correctly -> but i fill the Logon Screen with my User name and Password and press Logon come the follwing Error:
"Cannot connect to server using message server: ms://<hostname>.<domain>:8134/P4"

The Customer says, the Firewall is open with the IP Adresses and P4 Port but i dont think so...
Can everybody help me, or have tips for me! I have checked a lot of OSS Messages (PI High Availabilty etc... its all correct on the System)
Sorry for my bad English
Best Regards,
Markus

Hi Markus,
did you check if the browser is using a proxy? (In this case your scenario unfortunately won't work).
P4-port should generally be routed via a proxy (described in the help.sap.com), but within the PI-Tools(JNLP) the proxy-usage is not implemented. There is even a SAP-note that describes how to check the JavaWebStart-Proxyconfiguration, but this won't help either.
If there is a proxy defined in the browser everything is working fine till you pass the logon-screen but even with the correct "javaws"-settings you won't be able to go on.
(This problem is pretty bad if you do have developers and the SAP-servers seperated because of security issues. I'm hoping that this malfunction will be solved with upcoming patches.)
Solution: Establish a connection without any proxy in between.
E.g.: a terminal server in the same network
It would be helpful to find more people with the same problem to force a fix from SAP for that.
If anyone else is having problems with this, please add a comment to this thread.
Best regards
Christian

Thanks in advance,

( I am unable to search SDN ,due to some upgradation is going on )

Hi Sreeramoju,
1. HTTP-401 :
If the Integration Server is accessed by means of an HTTP proxy server, the credentials must match those that you made in transaction SICF in the Integration Engine. If you do not specify a user and password combination, or the combination is invalid, the system will terminate each attempt to access the Integration Engine with the message Transport Exception: http-Error 401 – Unauthorized.
The user must have the authorizations of group SAP_XI_APPL_SERV_USER on the Integration Server.
If you want to use a different client or language to the default setting in the Integration Engine when logging on, you can also set the following parameters:
○ XI.Client=<client-no>
○ XI.Language=<language-id>
2.HTTP 407: Proxy Authentication Required" in SAP XI J2EE AE: check the SAP note: 992690
Make sure that you have specified the proper host and port values, in the text box that appears when you check the configure proxy check box(in receiver adapter).
Looks like the webservice requires a proxy authentication.
Select the check box "configure proxy user authentication"(in receiver adapter) and provide the correct username and password.
*Pls: Reward points if helpful*

Hi Ravi,
we got the system alias name from Gateway->OData Channel->Configuration->Connection Settings->SAP Netweaver Gateway to SAP System->Manage System Aliases.
And in Define webserver alias, we have maintained like this.
In define Object link type, in DMS
And as you told, in service for object type, we have maintained the web server.
I have already activated the service : SICF path - /default_host/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui
After all this configuration I checked in NWBC, but still I am getting error like this.

• Use message server as load balancing instead of web dispacher for XI in HA

Hi all!
We are currently upgrading a cluster XI installation from 3.0 to 7.0.
The idea is:
Now: 1 node (central instance)
1 node (database)
Future: 1 node (central instance)
1 node (database + application instance)
So we need some king of load balancing between the two instances.
We already know web dispatcher and all configuration required. However we
were trying not to use it but use the abap/java message server who can also do
the redirect.
However, once the Exchange Profile has been updated, it does not work.
If we change "com.sap.aii.connect.repository.httpport" to "8101". Cache refresh stop working with a "Authorization Error". This is really strange because if I try the very same URL in the explorer and I enter the logon data, I have no problem.
Do you have any experience with this? I mean, is it possible to avoid installing web dispatcher?
Thanks and kind regards,
Encinas.

Hi David,
the message server does only a redirect and some XI applications (JAVA and ABAP side) cannot handle the redirect URL.
Therefore in the XI environment you have to use a "real" dispatcher (keeping the session and forwarding the session, instead of redirect) - for example you can use the SAP WebDispatcher here.
Best regards,
Silvia

• Solution Manger Sap MMC, disp+work process says message server unreachable

Hi Folks, I have installed Solution Manager on Windows 2003, 3GB ram, 300 Gigs, installation completed success fully, after installation i worked on post-installation, like client creation, setting up solution monitoring, logon.._sap* to 0. After I have restarted the solman, in the Sap MMC says dispwork running but message server not connected, and after few moments dispwork stopped.
I think its due to memory allocation for ABAP stack, i searched for this problem, but i didnt find good solution. Any body could sugges me in working out this problem, and also may be in the profiles folder, if there's any thing which i can add parameters for abap/buffer or abap/heap size.
Hope some could try to resolve this.
Thank you.

check fist the trace files dev_disp and dev_w0 if you really have a memory problem.
If yes:
- add /3GB /PAE /USEVA:2600 to your boot.ini and restart
- check if you need to rebase DLLs (note 664269 - Rebasing DLLs under WFP)
To avoid all those memory problems I suggest to go for 64bit platform.

I get same error message when i test the JCo Metadata connection, Model data connection works fine.
The message server value under WebDynpro content admin is created with right values as i checked with Basis person.
My service file in C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc has entries for both J2EE stack entry and ABAP stack (on remote server) entry with port numbers.
When i ping the ABAP (remote server) from my machine command prompt I get response.
I am running out of options. I really appreciate your inputs.

Hi, I think this might have todo with the fact that your Java stack wants to connect with a server from the same logon group called "PUBLIC".
Please make sure you added the same logon group "PUBLIC" to the ABAP Server. Try transaction SMLG.
Also as posted above the SLD needs this info aswell.
After using the transaction SMLG, log in and out 5 times in a row to your ABAP stack using SAP GUI. This might actually force an update to the SLD.
Greetings,
Robbert
