How to install SAPGUI for windows, SAPGUI for Java and SAPGUI for HTML in Portal?

While creating transaction based ivews you can specify the type of sap gui you want to use. Here are the important points that will help you decide on what to use.
1> SAP GUI can be launched inplace inside portal content area(using structured storage option) or in a separate window. Both needs SAP GUI Front end need to be installed in the client pc.
2> SAP GUI for Java needs JRE to be set up in the client machine and hence it is not generally preferred.
3> SAP GUI for HTML uses ITS Webgui and if you are just using a couple of T-Codes inside portal, then this is preferred.

SAPGUI and Portal Authentication using AD Credentials with usr/passw prompt

Hi Experts,
We have the following requirements:
1. Portal/EP has UME set to ABAP (in other words using ECC6 system's user/password).
2. ECC6 user-id's differ from Active Directory user.
3. User logs in to Active Directory.
4. User wants to log on to SAPGUI (ECC6 system), with a user-name password prompt, using the Active directory Credentials.
5. User wants to log on to Portal/EP, with a user-name password promt, using the Active Directory Credentials.
The following suggested solution was the closest to the requirement (without to much technical detail):
1. For SAPGUI, implement SSO on the workstation GUI's and maintain the Active Directory user in transaction SU01 in the ALIAS field.
This should enable the user to, after having logged onto the Active Directory, to open the SAPGUI and WITHOUT user-name password prompt, be authenticated and logged into SAP. This would entail settings to be done on each workstations GUI.
2. For the Portal/EP, implement Kerberos on the portal, setting it to authenticate to the AD. As per note 935644 maintain an additional attribute on the UME, to enable the mapping between the UME and the AD users.
This should enable the user, after having logged onto the Active Directory, to open Internet Explorer, go to the Portal URL, and be authenticated and logged into the portal, without WITHOUT user-name password prompt.
Do you know the viability of this solution, or whether there is any better suggestion (especially to keep the user-name password prompt, and without changing the ECC6 or Active directory users).

The description you have given is an exact description of the capability of our product. I represent a company called CyberSafe, and our products are designed and sold to SAP customers for integrating the SAP user authentication with Active Directory authentication. We have some unique features in our product which you could benefit from, e.g. our SAP GUI SNC library has the ability to popup a logon screen asking user for Active Directory account and password before it logs the user onto SAP. Also, when the SAP system has authenticated the user, either via the Web browser or via SAP GUI their Kerberos principal name (determined from AD account name and domain) is mapped onto a SAP user using a table in the ABAP system. The browser authentication even uses this same table for mapping so that an authenticated account name does not need to be same as the SAP user they log onto.

SAPGUI for Windows via Portal - problem with frame

We are launching SAPGUI for Windows via Portal to drive single sign-on via AD. Our problem is that when SAPGUI launches, it is contained within an IE browser frame that causes some of the SAPGUI screens to not fit on the screen well. Those same screens fit just fine if we launch SAPGUI directly.
Is there any way to launch SAPGUI from Portal, with SSO enabled, but without the IE frame around it?

The best way to authenticate users when they logon using SAP GUI for Windows, is to use SNC authentication in SAP GUi. Then, the browser iview will launch the GUI and the GUI will authenticate the user using their AD credentials issued during the Windows logon. You will need to setup an SNC library on both the ABAP system which the user is logged onto, and the workstation where SAP GUI is installed.
If you don't use SNC, and you just launch SAP GUI for Windows from browser, then an SSO2 ticket is used to authenticate the user to the ABAP stack, and this is not secure due to the fact that the SAP GUI session which is used to pass the SSO2 ticket is not protected - anybody can intercept the SAP GUI session, take the SSO2 ticket from this traffic and logon as that user - clearly this is bad security and needs SNC to make it secure.

How to give BSP Iview look and feel of portal??

Hi All,
I've created a BSP application that I use to create an Iview for portal.
I thought that if i used htmlb tags that the look and feel of portal would be automatic to my app but its not.
I've tried assigning portal css classes to a html table but there's no effect.
I've previewed one of the standard ivews and viewed the source and found the path of the css file. But when i looked for it on the server, while the out folder was there (com.sap.portal.design.portaldesigndata) , there was no css files in this folder.
So i'm at a loss. In summary, how do i get my bsp app to have the portal look and feel????? I would prefer to use the css files so that if any changes are made to the standard, the changes will be reflected in my custom iviews too.

I agree with Subbarao. If u have gud command on ABAP then go for XI.And if u r technically sound in JAVA then go for EP which comprises of Knowledge Management and collaboration, portal and webdynpro.Both have gud value in the market right now.

Drag and Drop a Portal iView in WPC

I would like to drag and drop a portal iView into a container in the Page Editor.
In a container that allow resource type portal iview, I clicked on the "pencil logo" and click on Add. A "Web Content Browser" is invoked. It there, the portal iView is not found as these iViews are sitting in the Portal Content directory.
Just wondering how do we go about in "drag & drop" a portal iview from this editor.

3. In the Portal Content Directory (PCD), create a folder for iViews that Web content managers can use on Web pages.
a. Choose Content Administration u2192 Portal Content and create a folder under Portal Content, for example WebPageiViews.
b. Create permitted iViews in this PCD folder (for example, as delta links).
c. Choose System Administration u2192 Permissions and navigate to the folder you created in step a.
d. In this PCD folder, give the everyone group Read permission, for example, and activate the End User indicator.
4. Show the PCD repository in the KM configuration.
a. Choose System Administration u2192 System Configuration u2192 Knowledge Management u2192 Content Management.
b. Choose Repository Managers u2192 Show Advanced Options u2192 PCD Repository.
c. Deactivate the Hide in Root Folder checkbox.
d. Restart the servlet engine.
5. Create an entry point for the folder that you created in step 1d (for example, /wpccontent/iViews).

SiteMinder integration with the internal and external facing portals

We are in development phase for SiteMinder integration with the internal and external facing portals.The proposed dual authentication scheme which requires both SiteMinder for External facing portal (EFP) and LDAP for Internal portal .is it possible?
and is it possible to main to diff LDAP directories one is external users and one is for internal users.?
If you maintain 2 diff(external & internal) LDAP Directories in Siteminder Policy Server what about external users which are not exit in portal data source .
I appreciate if anyone can help me for my above query .

Hey Tag,
We do have a physical external Portal and a physical internal portal. The both the external and internal are connected to 2 LDAP directories.
For example the External Portal is connected to the Employee LDAP Direcotry and the Customer LDAP Directory. The Internal Portal is connected to the US Employee LDAP Direcotry and the EMEA LDAP Directory.
So each one of them is connected to 2 different LDAP Directories.
I believe that the Siteminder Policy is setup such that the Internal portal has a policy and the External portal has a seperate policy on the same Siteminder Server. Then each of the Policies is configured to connect to the approiate LDAP Directories.
You have to maintain the LDAP Directory information in both the portal and Siteminder Policy Server. It is required in the policy server so that it can authenticate the user and it is required in the Portal server so that it can authorize the user and display content based on thier assigned roles.

Business Object, SAP BW and SAP Enterprise Portal

Hello all,
I've a few questions about the possibility for linking Business Object, SAP BW and the SAP Enterprise Portal.
The Business Package MSS 1.41 give us a functionality to display (in a federated portal) personalized Budget and costs in an Overview Iview (kind of Welcome page).
Those information are retrieved from SAP BW and I'd like to know if it's possible to retrieve those data (with the same functionality) from Business Object tool.
Is it possible to have those personalized reports without having a direct link (standard architecture) between SAP BW and the federated portal?

Struts and ADF in Portal

Hello. We have had a TAR going for some time regarding an issue with Struts and ADF in Portal. This is the summary of the TAR:
Customer followed the following document to create his Struts ADF application:

When adding his portlet to a page, he basically received a portlet without any data, while the same worked fine outsi

We figured out that if we add the following filter mapping then it works fine:

The final reply from support was that Portal is not yet supported with ADF technology. Does anyone have any comment on the above filter issue and other thoughts on using Struts and ADF in Portal? Another issue we found was that the PDK Struts tags do not support EL expressions. Have a look at this forum post:

Transporting VC Models and related pages and iviews across portals

Hi,
Hope you all are doing good.
We have a particular requirement, which i hope you will be able to give some inputs.
We have models for which we have .gml files. In addition we have the models deployed in Portal as iviews under Visual Composer folder.
Our requirements is to transport the models in VC and iviews in Portal to a new installation.
When we take the content dump from portal for the models and import into new installation it works fine.
But when we want to make changes in VC model (.gml) files and redeploy the VC application in Portal, it does not over write the existing iview for same VC application in Portal.
The ID's of the deployed iviews for same VC appls are getting changed and hence not updating the same one.
Any idea what we are missing ?

HI Sumit,
Whenever you import .gml file in new Portal firstly one model name should be created then only we can import the existing model from Dev box at that time the package name differ in such case.
this may be a precaution from SAP
I also tried the same thing what you did but getting the same kind of deployment what you are getting.

would I be able to "upload" (not sure how else to say it) my existing folders and subfolders containing all my emails so that they are all available on my new IMAP service, while still being available on my Mac?
Not easily, no. There's no direct transfer option between POP and IMAP, especially across email providers. The best you could do would be to forward all of your emails to your new address, although it's not clear that you need to - dropping your sbcglobal.net account doesn't instantly render all your existing mail void - it'll still be in your Mail client, you can still read it, search it, etc., it just won't be on your provider's server.
I have toyed with the idea of getting a MobileMe account. Would that solve my issue/question above?
MobileMe would be viable, especially if you're interested in synching your various iOS devices. It's not free, of course, unlike Yahoo and Gmail, although you've already discounted them...
I have also toyed with purchasing my own URL, but it's hard to tell from the sites (1and1, Namecheap, etc.) if they come with IMAP email accounts included.
Some registrars offer email hosting bundles with a domain registration. This could be a good way to go. GoDaddy, for example, have a email hosting option for domains you register with them.

Time mismatch between BSP workflow and UWL in portal

I am using a portal application where ,for the same work iteam ,BSP workflow and UWL in portal are displaying two different date and time.
Has anybody come accross the same issue?

There might be some mismatch of attributes between BSP workflow and UWL configuration.Please check the UWL configuration file and check the display attribute name. Please check UWL configuration guide for more details
