SAPGUI installation blues -- FSL-01001, MOS-01131

After successfully installing the Web AS Preview
installation on a standalone PC, I am now having problems
trying to install SAPGUI.
No matter which options I choose, I get the following errors:

duplicate name exists on the network. Go to System in Control Panel to change the computer name and try again.

ERROR 2006-05-21 19:29:26

Questions --
1.  Are there any links for documentation that will tell me how to install SAPGUI?
2.  Shouldn't SAPGUI install under the same username that installed the WEB AS ?
3. Here are the usernames that exist on the PC in addition to the sole XP user account:
     nspadmNSP
     SAPService
4. Can anyone tell me the reason for these error messages?

Hi Bhavik,
I mean are you logged onto your Windows XP system with a domain user or local user?
What exactly are you installing? Usually when installing SAP GUI only, you won't have to create accounts on your domain...

Pascal

Any ideas wahr can be done. a renaming of the machine in the network was also not succesfull.

  • SAPGUI Installation using SCCM2012

    Hi,
We are trying to install SAPGUI using SCCM,
    - Packages created, around 150 MB
    - Moved to distribution point,
    - it dumped the package on target PC
but the issue is it does not start the installation automatically.
we followed the following doucment , available in the link below.
    http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/SAP-GUI-Installation-Using-22b7e486
    pls assist.
    Thank you
    MNR

    Hi Mohammed,
I am not an expert with SCCM, however, I don't believe the use of the Single-file-installer method is SAP's recommendation. That is intended for offline installation, such as on laptops or remote VPN scenarios over slow WAN links, etc. NwSapSetupAdmin provides a tool called Create Package Definition File which is intended to provide the instructions to SCCM for installing your predefined package directly from your SAPGUI Installation Server. I think this is what you should be exploring.

  • SAPGUI Installation Server Script - Commands Reference

    Hi
I've been using SAPGUI Installation server for some time and it works fine, but now I would like to add some more functions to it. I've read the documentation about commands you can use in pre/post install and uninstall scripts but there aren't too many of them. What I would like is a list of all commands that can be used in such scripts.
    Hope to get some help
    Best Regards,
    Paweł

    Hello
you find in the setup folder of the Sapgui cd the file named
    Installation Server Help.chm
    There is a chapter named
    Package Event Scripting Samples
    That's all

  • ECL Viewer on 2 different locations in the SAPGui Installation server

I've installed the SP 13 of the SAPGui Installation Server.  Can anyone explain me why the ECL Viewer is installed 2 times in the SAPGui Installation server.  One time as a separate product and one as a General Add-On in the SAPGui 7.1 Product.  Doesn't this give any conflicts?  We are getting a dump for several transactions.  Is this due to this?
Next to that I can't delete the ECL Viewer in the General add-on.
    Thanks for helping.

Hm, you can check this from t-code SM04 (if one server) or SM51 and after on all servers.
SM04 --> Change layout (CTRL+F8) --> Gui version add in Displayed Columns , after you will see all GUIs.
SM51 --> select server --> User (CtrlShiftF7) after as  above.
If you install the package on some PC, before installin sapsetup checks are this GUI installed or not(are the present package installed, are all components from package installed), and if it are installed finished installation.

  • SAPGUI installation reboot issue

    Hello all,
I'm experiencing the following problem on a minority of pc's after installing 7.10 pl16:
The package installs without any problem , but when you start and try to connect to a server  you get the following message :
before starting a sapgui session, reboot to ensure sapgui is working properly.
despite reboots, the message stays when trying to connect.
when you then try to uninstall sapgui, the (un)installer mentions
"your system has a pending reboot"
    "click to reboot"
if you reboot using this method, the tool then works.
is there some registry entry or something that might cause this?
the initial install is a silent no reboot install.
    kind regards
    and thanks in advance

Any luck with this? I am using SAPGUI 7.30 / patch 1 and am equally frustrated. EVERY TIME I start NwSapSetup.exe or SapGuiSetup.exe, etc. I get the "Your system has a pending reboot!" message. I guess I could spend the rest of my life rebooting but I surely can't roll this out to my end user!. I guess I'm happy I'm not the only one with this issue but this is incredibly frustrating. And YES, I ran the nwcheckworkstation and NO, there were not any errors. (but I did get the pending reboot message there too! - aaaaaaaaaagh)

  • Installation: Blue spinning wheel but no apps showing

Installation: I have just accepted an invitation to join the creative cloud, but when I got to download apps (ie, InDesign) a blue 'spinning wheel' appears and much like the spinning wheel of death... has continued to spin for several minutes. I have shut down my computer, closed all applications, but nothing seems to be working. Does anyone have any other ideas as to why this is happening/what to do?

  • SAPGUI installation

    Hello,
    i am a new user.
I tried to install SAPinstGUI.exe after installing Sapinst.exe.
    Sapinst.exe is successfully installed.
if i try to install SAPinstgui.exe, then i get problem.
    After starting the SAPInstGUI.exe;
        Host: localhost
        Port 21212
Checkbox for "Connect via SAP Router is not selected"
Then i press on "Log on"
    it doesn't work.
(icon in sapmmc is green. Processlist icon is green too. in AS ABAP WP TABLE ; everything has Startstatus.)
I would be appreciated, if you can inform me about that.
    Thanks,
P.S. is it possible to upload some screenshots in this forum?

    Hello,
OSS is SAP service marketplace website (service.sap.com). I am not sure for the trial version documentation but for normal customer contract allow us to 'Register' a developer at service.sap.com for a particular installation number for a customer sap landscape.
    'i gave that: "29671482393151224771" and "07222097363139263004" from start.htm'
I guess this is the 'developer key' which has already been provided with trail version installation ? Then in that case, this developer key should be corresponding to some 'specific' userid (most probably). I tell you this just because of the fact that in normal customer contracted sap installation, we register a developer (particular user id) w.r.t it's SAP system userid and that key is unique to that sap userid for that particular installation number in the landscape.
So may be you are not using that specific userid to create a new program.
'P.S. i use the trial version. Do ist cost, if i get Access Code from OSS?'
Not sure, I would wait for other techies to help us here on this point. Or you go through the trail version documentation once more.
    Thanks

  • SAPGui installation with /nodlg parameter runs silent without progress

Hoping someone can help me here.  I'm installing sap 710 via SMS 2003 and it works fine.  The problem I am having is the fact that if I run it with the /nodlg parameter it doesn't show the user progress of the installation even though its installing.
Has anyone else ran into this?
Here is the command line I am using in my package:
    setup\nwsapsetup.exe /package="Corp_Standard_sap710" /NoDlg
    Any help is very appreciated.
    Eric

I can run it from the run line and I do see the progress window.  It just doesn't work via SMS2003.  I'm not using a wrapper.  I created a installation server and created a installation package.  I then copied the contents of the installation share to the sms server and setup that copied directory as the source directory which is copied to the distribution points.
I was hoping someone else might have ran into the issue.
    thanks again.

  • Installation Blues

I am trying to install Solaris 8 on intel PIII (SE440BX2) with S3 Virge PCI VGA and 10.2 GB Seagate HDD, 64MB RAM. I get the message 'bat PBR, no operating system found' whenever system reboots after initial installation.

My guess might be a bum set of discs... or your drive is having trouble reading them... or you don't haven't repaired permissions before attempting install...

  • Mac Mini FIrst Installation Blues... Help Required

Hi ,I have recently purchased a new Mac mini. I want to install it as a file backup server and inhouse intranet web server with 20 users inhouse. my Network is as follows i have a dsl connection to my place and it terminates on a netgear router through which i send network addresses to all clients via DHCP.i also have a web site which is hosted somewhere in US. Can i map it to my server for email and webhosting. (this is not very important)
What settings should i do on my server in DNS part?
How can i have fully qualified DNS.?
    Regards,
    Waps

What settings should i do on my server in DNS part?
The chances are you're going to end up configuring a DNS server on this machine to handle queries for your LAN clients (that's the only way you'll be able to use private LAN names for your machine), therefore you should enable and configure the DNS service and configure this machine's network preferences to use 127.0.0.1 for it's name server.
All other machines should ultimately be configured to use this server's LAN address for their DNS server (which is something you can just change once in your DHCP server), but don't worry about that until you've got your server up and running.
In this process, make sure your server has a static IP address (e.g. 'Manual', not 'via DHCP') that is valid for your network, but outside the router's DHCP pool. For example, if you're using 192.168.10.x for your network, and your DHCP server is configured to hand out addresses from 192.168.10.2 through 192.168.10.100 then it's fine to give this machine a static IP address above 192.168.10.100 - it'll still be valid for the LAN, but won't conflict with DHCP clients.
How can i have fully qualified DNS.?
That's a loaded question if ever I heard one
The term 'fully qualified' (the FQ in FQDN) just means that you're specifying both the host and the domain parts of the domain name (e.g. in the case of 'server.example.com', 'server' is the host and 'domain.com' is the domain).
If you're only concerned about local clients connecting to this machine then your domain can be pretty much anything you like - since it's private it won't affect anyone else. Common examples include things like 'company.local', 'company.lan', 'company.private', etc.
(note some people have an almost religious sentiment about what private domain names should/should not be used - just pick something that works for you).
Once you sort out your private domain name, getting your FQDN is just a matter of choosing an appropriate hostname. You might choose something generic like 'server' (or 'server1' if you expect to add more servers over time). Some people prefer to choose groups of names such as breeds of dog, Disney characters, etc. - again, the point is you should choose something that works for you.
Combine your host name with your domain name and you have your FQDN, even if that's something like pluto.company.local.
The only thing I would say on choosing hostnames is to separate the service(s) from the machine. By that I mean don't necessarily call this machine 'mail' just because it's going to become your mail server. It would be better off named something generic ('server1', 'minnie', etc.) and you use DNS CNAMEs to map services (e.g. 'mail', 'www', 'ichat', etc.) to the specific machine.
That way you don't get sidelined into thinking 'mail.company.lan' is only the company mail server, and users don't get confused as to why they hit that address in a web browser to get your web site.
It's also not the case that you have to worry about your public services at this time. Even if this machine does become your corporate web server (e.g. 'www.company.com'), that doesn't mean that 'www.company.com' has to be this machine's FQDN - it's entirely valid (and common) for the public hostname to be completely different from what the machine thinks its own name is.

  • SAPGUI Remote Installation - Request to SAP for version 7.10

    Hello
I've been using SAPGUI Installation Server for some time and was quite pleased with the functionality it provided in version 6.4 that made it possible to push the installation to users. However in a new version (7.10) this feature was removed. Although it is possible to run a remote command using new version you have to know the password of a local administrator on the PC. In version 6.4 no password was necessary to push out the installation.
I believe it is in our, system administrators, best interest to push SAP to restore that functionality.
Please share your opinion in this thread. Maybe SAP would make it possible again, once they see it is desired and needed by users.
    Paweł Kryczkowski

    Hello Pawel
"I believe it is in our, system administrators, best interest to push SAP to restore that functionality."
That is not necessary.... because you can use the   NWsapsetupadmin.exe ->
    Remote -> Execute Process Remotely
Please also read the documentation in your Installation server ->  NWsapsetupadmin.exe -> press F1 -> Administering an Installation Server -> Controlling Remote Workstations
    Thats All

  • SAPGUI 7.20 installer script in Lion fails to create SAP folder in Pref

I have an issue in which the the SAPGUI for Mac installer/script is failing to created tge SAP folder in Hard drive /Library/Preferences folder as in does in Snow Leopard.  When I use my Applescript later to move the connection files to the preferences folder, it fails because the SAP folder was not created by the SAPGUI installer script.  It looks like Apple has increased security on the Preferences folder since I'm being prompted to delete any file in the Preferences folder or subfolders.
    I using PlatinGUI720MacOSX_6-10006059.JAR (version 720.6)
I've tried to modify my applescript to create the SAP folder in Hard drive/Library/Preferences but have not been successfully and also a bit concerned about where else the install script behaves differently in Lion compared to Snow Leopard.

Hi, not we not have opened note for the issue.
