SAPGUI on MAC OS 10.4/sapmsg.ini ?

Hi outthere,
i hope someone can help me.
A business customer of ours uses the operating system MAC OS 10.4 + SAPGUI. We want to change systems listed on SAPLOGON, but unfortunately we are not able to locate the files, logon data is stored in.
Where can I find the sapmsg.ini or saplogon.ini (path) on MAC OS ? Maybe they have different filenames than SAP GUI on Windows OS (C:\<windir>\...)?
Regards
Christoph

Hello Christoph,
please have a look at chapters "6. User Configuration" and "7. Administrator Configuration" of the documentation which comes with the SAP GUI for Java installation.
Easiest is to launch SAP GUI and to choose "SAPGUI Help" from the "Help" menu to get there.
In case you do not have a Mac available, just do the same with SAP GUI for Java on Windows.
When you became familiar to configure the logon with latter, it should be easy to instruct a Mac user.
Best regards

• Missing sapmsg.ini in Sapgui 7.2 for CCMSPING availability monitoring

Hi All,
I've been trying to locate the SAPMSG.INI file for configuring the CCMSPING availability monitoring through RZ21 on Solman, but could not find the sapmsg.ini file in the specified location of ' c:\winnt\sapmsg.ini ' which was mentioned in the SAPGUI logon pad's option window. Can you help me to locate this file?
Thanks,

Hi,
for 7.2 te config files wont available in c:
windows
it should be under C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\SAP\Common

• How to use sapmsg.ini file?

Hi,
Whats the function of the sapmsg.ini file? How to use it?
And I searched my computer but didnt find it......

Hi Tino,
sapmsg.ini is opend by LIBRFC32 - not NCo directly. You can look into RFC SDK documentation for details (this is install with SAPGUI).
you can try to resolve the problem by setting the following environment variable:
RFC_LOGON_INI_PATH=<PATH_TO_SAPGUI_DIRECTORY>

• Missing sapmsg.ini when configuring CCMSPING availability monitoring

Has anyone has any issues configuring Availability Monitoring with CCMSPING under RZ21 ?
Under the option, Technical Infrastrucure -> Availability Monitoring -> Configure CCMSPING Monitoring
Monitoring -> Create System
There is an option to import the SAPMSG.INI file
I have sapgui 7.1 loaded on this desktop
For some reason, the file SAPMSG.INI is not available.
I even tried defining a Group Logon on SAPLogon, SAPMSG is still not available.
Then we tried defining the system manually - all we got was a message, "system not found"
Has anyone tried doing CCMSPING Availability Monitoring on Netweaver 7.0 (Solution Manager 4.0) ?

Hi,
The SAPMSG.ini is created by your SAPGUI. check it in your Windows directory, there should be one if you are connecting to any SAP server using the message server.
Check this link for configuring availability monitoring:

• Downloading and Installing SAPGUI for Mac OSX

First of all I want to say, that this site has the most un-intuitive interface and complicated navigation system I have ever encountered. Was it so difficult to create an easy to access download area for all the GUI's to be accessed and downloaded along with detailed instructions on how to install them?
Sigh.
That being said, I would like some help downloading the SAPGUI for Mac. I know its the java, which can be installed Platform independent. When I go to the download site, and I get to the basket portion it doesnt let me download it. It asks me for my credentials (the same ones I had to use to post in here) and then it knocks out my connection and doesnt let me download.
Secondly I would like also the steps I need to do to install the .jar file on a Mac running 10.6.8. I found a .jar file elsewhere but it runs with errors and doesnt let me get to the familiar interface for configuring SAP.
When I run the .jar file on the mac I get the following error:

Hello,
doing a search for "SAPGUI for Java" with your favorite search engine should include the site SAP GUI Family in the top ten of the result list.
This site includes links to navigate directly to the [downloads|SAP GUI Family#section31] of both SAP GUI for Windows and SAP GUI for Java.
On the [same page|SAP GUI Family#section16], there is a [link|SAP GUI Family?rid=/library/uuid/f0dcf725-6b0e-2d10-da9a-96eb3474bdd3] to the online version of the manual which is included with SAP GUI for Java.
Your problem downloading the installer might be related to permissions, please refer to [note 1037574|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1037574] .
Regarding your problem running SAP GUI for Java
I do not understand "When I run the .jar file". From the stack of the Java console, it looks like your are trying to start it in the browser and the version on the web server and the one installed on your Mac do not match (see "Incompatible Certificates" in the known issues section of the manual coming with SAP GUI for Java).
Once you have downloaded a current SAP GUI for Java version and still have issues using it, please provide more information about your scenario.
Best regards

• SAP GUI 7.20 - sapmsg.ini and saproute.ini location

I have installed SAP GUI 7.20 and I moved the saplogon.ini to a folder different from C:\WINDWOS, but message server and SAProuter are still pointing to C:\WINDOWS\SAPMSG.INI and C:\WINDWOS\SAPROUTE.INI.
I don't like these files on WINDOWS, How can I move them to another location and SAP GUI still can read them?
Many Thanks in advance,
Fernando.

• Distributed sapmsg.ini

Hi,
I am interested to see if other people have the same view point / issue with using a distributed saplogon.ini.
Using the environment variable SAPLOGON_INI_FILE you are able to centralise the saplogon.ini file in a shared network location, which is great. My issue is that I also require the System Description field of the saplgpad, and the information for this field is provided by the sapmsg.ini file.
SAPLOGON_INI_FILE only influences the location of saplogon.ini and so if i want to add a new system to a centralised saplogon i only need to amend in one place, but if i want to add/amend a system description i need to update all of the client pc's.
The idea of having centralised ini files is flawed in my view because of this. I'd like to know how other people get around this, as SAP do not seem interested in either centralising the sapmsg.ini or moving the system description information into saplogon.ini.
Regards
Phil

Phil,
I have found that distributing whatever config files you need (such as saplogon.ini or sapmsg.ini) to local machines is quite easy through either network logon scripts or through installation packages in nwsapsetup. In the case of using logon scripts, I just copy the appropriate .ini files from a central location (for ease of maintenance) to the local machine on startup. This also allows me to give different users different .ini files based on their network group membership. And I still only have one place to modify a small handful of config files.
If you have options like this, you might want to consider distributing to the local machine.

• SAPGUI on Macs under Bootcamp

Hi,
There are quite a few messages on this forum telling me that SAPGUI for java will not run on the MacBook Pro yet.
Can anybody tell me if the Windows SAPGUI will run on a MacBook Pro running Bootcamp?
Cheers,

sapgui is logicaly compatible on Mac under bootcamp.
Bootcamp is only an application to make a windows installation (not a simply emulation like virtualPC)
Once installed a win release, it works like a really PC (maybe better :P).
But i remember that there is a sapgui (java) that works fine under OSX _
I hope in the future sap will try to implement the other sap applications compatible with X.

• SapGui for Mac with Slovak language

Me too crashes but with Slovak language. If turned on MacRoman English with cpg 1404 everything is good but the diacritics.
Mac OS X 10.4.11 with Sapgui 7.10.r3 and English enviroment.
This is our configuration file in expert mode we use nowadays /but it´s very hard to read without č š ž and others/
conn=/H/servername/S/3200&jenc=MacRoman&jloc=en&cpg=1404&clnt=002&lang=sk
Please help me!
Vlad

Hello Vlad,
for using SAP GUI for Java on Mac with Slovak language, you need the codepage conversion files 14011407.CDP and 14071401.CDP, otherwise RFC calls to the SAP GUI will cause unexpected behavior including ABAP dumps.
For explanation how to generate those files and make them available to SAP GUI, please refer to [note 53665|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/53665]. Alternatively to setting the environment variable, you can copy them into the SAP GUI folder. But then you will need to add them every time you install a new version of SAP GUI for Java.
Best regards

• Need SAPGUI for Mac OS 10.4.11 (Tiger)

First, what is the recommended version of SAPGUI which will run in Mac OS 10.4.11 (Tiger). Would it be SAPGUI 7.1? And secondly, where can I download a version which will work in Tiger running on an Intel-based Mac?
I would be so grateful for anyone's input : )

As Rolf-Martin mentioned, this is duplicate of Thread # 3352601

• Java SAPGUI on Mac OS X questions

Hi,
I use SAPGUI 6.40r6 for Java on Mac OS 10.4.4, and there are some missing features / bugs which prevent me to work efficiently:
- Input History is missing, and it's THE FEATURE it should have to work more efficiently! How do guys at Apple computer work without it? Is it planned in a next SAPGUI release?
- Copy/Paste in ALV Grids, doesn't seem to work.
The only solution I've found is to launch Virtual PC to run SAPGUI for Windows!! It's heavy as SAPGUI is the only app I use on Windows!!!
I know that SAP is quite busy with the migration to Intel Macs but would really appreciate some improvements.
Any answer?
Best Regards,
Nicolas
ps: thanks to SAP and Apple for making great products!

Hello Nicolas,
to summarize:
It works to select text and copy using cmd-c in cells which are ready for user input.
It does not work to copy the cell content of a read only field using cmd-c, it only works with the context menu.
It does not work to select columns/rows and fill the clipboard with the selection.
I'll talk with the developer of the grid control about this. In case you want to be kept in the loop, you should file a bug report on component BC-FES-JAV.

• RSPC on SAPGui on Mac

I am unable to execute Transaction code RSPC (Process chains on BI) on OS X (Tiger). Is there any workaround for Java based versions?
Any help on this would be appreciated.
Best regards,
Prince

Hello Prince,
I have moved your post into the SAP GUI forum, since your question is not specific to Mac, but SAP GUI for Java.
RSPC is using a particular control, which is only available as OCX, but not JavaBean. This seems to be the reason why the transaction is not supported on SAP GUI for Java and is blocking when calling it with an error message.
Sorry for not having better news.
Best regards
