SAPGUI on Macs under Bootcamp

Hi,
There are quite a few messages on this forum telling me that SAPGUI for java will not run on the MacBook Pro yet.
Can anybody tell me if the Windows SAPGUI will run on a MacBook Pro running Bootcamp?
Cheers,

sapgui is logicaly compatible on Mac under bootcamp.
Bootcamp is only an application to make a windows installation (not a simply emulation like virtualPC)
Once installed a win release, it works like a really PC (maybe better :P).
But i remember that there is a sapgui (java) that works fine under OSX _
I hope in the future sap will try to implement the other sap applications compatible with X.

  • Does Windows 2008 Server run ok under Mac Mini Bootcamp?

Does anyone have any experience of installing and running Windows 2008 Server on a Mac Mini (of which has either Mac OS or Mac OS Server installed), under Bootcamp?
I currently have an old Dell with Windows 2008 server which acts as my Domain Controller, Exchange Server for a small home-office network. It's due an upgrade as the hardware is so old (and noisy!) and like the idea of having a nice compact, quiet Mac Mini, but want to make sure it can carry out the same duties under bootcamp on Win2008?

Windows 2008 can be installed in Boot Camp.  However I don't believe it is officially supported by Apple so there may or may not be issues with installing the Boot Camp Drivers (or future updates to the Boot Camp drivers.)  Not something I'd be recommending for a "production" environment.  If this is a test/dev system, then probably worth trying, depending on how critical your network uptime is.
Also, you didn't mention if your Dell came with Windows 2008 preinstalled, but if it did, then likely it has a "branded" version of Windows that won't activate correctly on non-Dell hardware.  (If your Windows disks have "Dell" on them, they won't work with the Mac.)  So you may need to purchase a retail or volume license copy of Windows 2008.
In general, for a server running as a DC & Exchange, you'd want RAID1 as a minimum so that would be the Mac Mini Server, not the "desktop" Mac Mini.  Unless you have one lying around, you're looking at something around $1500-$2000 to start, depending on whether you can transfer your existing Windows 2008 & Exchange installations.  (Another $500-$2000 depending on what vesions of Windows & Exchange.)  And probably 8GB of RAM since Windows 2008 & Exchange on 4GB is pushing it.  Considering the costs, I suggest you look at the Dell T110 series or the HP Proliant 110 series.  Both lines are very quiet and are supported for Windows 2008 from the factory, including Windows Small Business Server, which includes Exchange.  While not as small as a Mac Mini, they are mini towers and about the size of a typical PC desktop.
If you really wanted a small footprint, then HP has a "microserver" series.  You'd probably need to call HP to get the build you want as the online ordering is limited for that model.  From Dell, there is the Zino model desktop.  Again, not supported for a "server", but you were going to consider a the non-server version of the Mac Mini, then the Zino has at least a chance of you reusing your existing versions of Windows if they're Dell branded, thus saving your something in the range of $500-$2000 for new software.  (But I would NOT recommend a non-server chassis without RAID1 hard drives, so the Zino is not my choice.  I just offer it as a possibility if you accept the risk of an unsupported installation, as would have been installing Windows 2008 in Boot Camp.)
So yes, it will work.  But I wouldn't recommend it for a production environment, especailly if you have the "desktop" computer without RAID1.

  • Performance reduced under Bootcamp after EFI update on Macbook Pro Retina

after i upgraded EFI on my retina macbook pro the proformence reduced to unusable. under heavy load under bootcamp windows7. the cpu clock drops and as well as cpu clock. this is the screen shot of gpu clock monitoring from windows u can see the gpu clock is running at 270Mhz at most of the time and trying to be back to 725Mhz(yea, not 900Mhz!) when im running a graphic benchmark at same time cpu will run about 1.1Ghz as well. i noticed that it will run 10-20sec normally then CPU and GPU clock will start dropping. It's almost like speedstep is programmed backwards. My CPU is constantly running at 3.1-3.2GHz, and then as soon as a game loads, it drops to 1.2GHz. I've lost track of how many times I reset the SMC  reseting SMC PRAM, reinstalling windows using Bootcamp or even erease the entire drive and start over from network recovery MacOS did not solve this problem. so all the recent games like COD MW3, Starcraft II, BF3,or D3 will only run about about 10 fps as i was playing them with no ploblem before the EFI update.
this is killing me! please help.
im in NY, in this season i dont think is the overheating problem. when i check the temperature, it stays about 80C (fans will run about 4k rpm). but some time heavy loaded Mac OS cpu is about 90 degree but only with 3k rpm fan kicked in.
i did search online, seems that some other people have the same problem with rMBP or MBA 2012.
anyone knows if i take my macbook pro to the store, will those people work at genuines bar help me with this "windows" problem?
    thanks!

Hey Shadowyani, please take a time and fill a bug report at http://developer.apple.com/bugreporter/ . The machine is useless for me as it is now because I develop and use very GPU/CPU demanding scientific applications, after the update my realtime applications are completely useless as they drop from something like 25fps to 9 fps even on Mac OS X (no SMC reset fixed the issue). In bootcamp the situation is worse, my software runs at 4 fps and gaming turns to be impossible to play as well.
Please let Apple know about the problem, fill a bug report, even if SMC reset once in a while fixed the issue for you (this is not a common behaviour and must be fixed). We paid the price for cutting edge technology.
Apple shall not do a downgrade of the system after few weeks, remember that most of reviews and benchmarks were done BEFORE the EFI Update, so people are being fooled by Apple in this sense.

  • HP C309 G AIO can't install in Windows 7 64bit  running under BootCamp

HP C309 G Printer wont install in Windows 7 64bit running under BootCamp on a new iMac
Just bought a new iMac. Installed HP C309 all in one without incident on the Mac side. I am also running Windows 7 on iMac through a program called Bootcamp. When I boot to Windows 7 and try to install the newly downloaded software for windows 7 from the HP site, it begins to load then stops, giving me two error messages. They are both essentially the same except one says software and the other says hardware. The software one says: This computer does not have the necessary USB software support to allow completion of a USB installation. The printer plugs directly into the monitor in one of four usb ports. All the usb ports work on the system when using Windows 7. I have other devices working and plugged into the usb ports while in Windows 7. It is almost like the printer software is unable to find the usb software or hardware. Any ideas

Well, you have a full Window's 7 install so you would really have to go to HP and/or Microsoft to see what is going on. Bootcamp basically is only involved with "booting" and just installs Apple product drivers and such. Just treat the Window's side as if you are using it on a "normal" Window's PC. (As far as problems, crash's, updates, or any other Windows, HP, etc, problems you may have.)
"Installed HP C309 all in one without incident on the Mac side."
So,,, that means the printer "works" (prints) on the Mac or the installer just worked? Make sure the Printer actually prints in the Mac side as you may have a dead USB port on the Printer. It happens.
If your HP works fine (prints) in the Apple environment you know it's not the USB ports on either the printer or the computer.
You said you already downloaded the newer versions, have you tried using the drivers on the install disk and then update them to the newer ones? Also if you haven't yet, make sure the drivers are for the 64bit version, just a thought.
That's about all my brain cells have so good luck.......

  • How do I get the best performance out of my graphics card under bootcamp?

I have a 20" iMac, I think it was 2009 I got it, maybe 2010. It has an nVidia 9400 graphics card. I have installed windows XP under bootcamp with which to play games specicially Star Trek online and Star Wars The Old Republic (also online game). Now the minimum graphics spec for SWTOR is an nVidia 7800 yet with the 9400 I can only play if I run everything on the lowest possible settings. I'd assumed that the 9400 being several models higher than the 7800 I should be able to run a higher level of graphics and seem to be capable of running better quality when playing games under OS X.
I may be wrong but it seems under bootcamp windows doesn't run my Mac at as high a level as it is capable. For one thing when I look under the specs it states I only have 2.7GB ram when the iMac actually has 4GB.
Am I just over estimating the graphics potential of my iMac or am I right in thinking that Windows under bootcamp isn't utilising the iMac's full potential and how can I fix this?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

you run into the limits of XP and built in graphics.
I would hope that you found in all these years how to install and get new moddified gpu drivers.
XP is limited and is 32-bit where each app gets 2GB address space also.
Windows 7 64-bit (or 8 even free for now to test out) otherwise wait to buy a new Mac.

  • Win 7 on MacBook pro under bootcamp and USB to serial

    Hi all,
I am planning running win 7 under bootcamp on my macbook pro with mountain lion 10.8.2.
There is only one program I want to run under windows and that program needs to use a USB to serial converter made by KeySpan.
Question is once win 7 is installed will I then be able to install the windows drivers for the keyspan device as if I was on a win 7 PC?
    Thanks

    Silvolde wrote:
One more question: where do I download the apple drivers or does that happen automatically?
Nope. The first thing that the BootCamp Assistant offers you is to create a drivers CD or USB flashdrive. Once Windows installation is complete, you use that media to install drivers that allow Win7  to identify and use properly the Mac's hardware. Else it will use generic drivers that may not work fully.
Run the first step of Assistant again if you missed that. It won't mess up your installation.

  • Share iTunes for OS x and iTunes for XP under bootcamp

I want to be able to share one itunes library for both my Mac and Xp (same computer)(Dual boot)
    the problem is this.
The iTunes for OS x writes the files as:
    file://localhost/Volumes/Data/Sorted%20By%20Artist/
and the XP under bootcamp writes it as this:
    file://localhost/Z:/Sorted%20By%20Artist/
the only other file that is a factor is the iTunes Library that can easily renamed to iTunes Library.itl
How can I share ONE iTunes library on both the Mac side and the XP(bootcamp side)
if I cant how can I get XP to indentify the /Volumes/Data/ path to see my files... ("Data" is the name of my Hard drive)

Although this topic was covered under http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1750484
it does not explain how to fix the path file errors.
the xml file looks like this..
    OS x:
    <key>Location</key><string>file://localhost/Volumes/Data/Sorted%20By%20Artist/!!!/!!!%20-%20Me%20And%20Giul iani%20Down%20By%20The%20School%20Yard%20(A%20True%20Story).mp3</string>

  • No sound under bootcamp XP SP3

I just installed Windows XP SP2 and updated it to SP3 under bootcamp. I did the bootcamp 2.1 update, and installed the drivers from the leopard disk. However, I still have no sound, either in my headphones or in the built-in speakers. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I've got the same problem but my imac is running SP2.
I get a yellow "!" on one of my PCI sound devices but updating the drivers or trying to activate it will not work. it says that the device is working correctly however "it is possible that another program is running" so making the device not working properly.
the thing is. yesterday when I shut down the mac. everything was working fine. the sound was coming out of the speaker perfectly.
I did try to tweak something though, trying to fix my microphone problem, So I guess i'm the problem but now there seem to be no way of fixing this.
I tried reinstalling all drivers from the mac CD but nothing works. please help

  • RDE client crashes on connect under bootcamp Windows 7

Remote Desktop (RDE) clint crashes soon after connection from Windows 7 running on bootcamp partition. I am able to connect to the remote computer from other machines. I am even able to connect to the remote computer with Mac OS on the computer. Just fails when I boot using Windows 7.
It appears that the problem has to do with the Video card driver on the 27" iMac under bootcamp. At least that is the Error logged on the remote computer after crash.
Are there better video drivers for bootcamp that what comes from Apple? Appreciate any help!

    Hi probe_driod.
Thanks for your help. I ran software update this morning and the only thing that appeared was an updated version of iTunes. I manually downloaded the Graphics Firmware update but it said it did not apply to my system.
It is to my understanding that i cannot install Bootcamp 4 over the top of my Bootcamp 3.3 installation without first removing my bootcamp partition (therefore destroying all of my data) and then installing bootcamp again from scratch. Is this correct?

  • Chkdsk run every time I startup Windows Vista under Bootcamp in 10.6

I have Windows Vista 32 bits installed on bootcamp partition and it work fine in 10.5.
Now I have upgrade my MBP (early 2008) to Snow Leopard, and upgrade WIndows Bootcamp drivers to version 3.0 from Snow Leopard DVD. Both installation were completed and run fine.
The problem I have now is: Whenever I used Mac OS, shut down, then restart the WIndows Vista by pressing Option key at Macbook Pro startup, Chkdsk will run evry time, checking integrity of the Windows boot partition. I have to wait for more than 20 minutes before Chkdsk fix all errors, then reboot, and press Options key to get back into WIndows Vista without Chkdsk running.
When I shut down Windows, and restart without goinb into Snow Leoprad, the boot process go OK without Chkdsk running.
But whenever I shut fown Winodws and use Snow Leopard, then get back in to startup Windows, Chdsk run again. This is very annoyingm, and never occured in 10.5
During Chkdsk session, the following errors occured and being fixed:
Deleting index entry ._501 in index $I30 of file 9028
Deleting index entry 501 in index $I30 of file 9028
and after all process finished, Chkdsk stated that: There is a blank space that allocated as used, and has been fixed.
Can any friend advise me what cause this problem? and How to correct it?
I understanfd that the ._501 is in .Trashes folder on Windows partiton. It must be altered wwhen I use Snow Leopard, and must have to do with Trash in Mac OSX 10.6.
Can any friend advise me how to solve this problem? Thank in advance

The problem is repeatable. The same index and file to be deleted by Chkdsk remain unchanged every time I boot Windows under bootcamp after using Mac OS. If I reboot Windows many many times without using Mac OS, the error never occur.
It must be Mac OSX Snow Leopard that is the culprit. Can any friend give me solution of how to solve this problem?
When I try booting Windows in Parallels the boot is OK

  • Windows 7 under bootcamp for MacOS X 10.6.6

Running under windows 7 I can not get a hash key. Have read various posts that say Ctrl-Alt-3 should do it and have even downloaded Windows Layout Creator 1.4 and loaded the Apple UK keyboard layout that says Ctrl-Alt-3 should work but it does not. I am using a MacBook Pro and neither the internal keyboard nor the full external USB mac keyboard (Apple UK) that I use give in a hash in Windows 7 under bootcamp. Under Mac OS option-3 works fine.
If anyone has figured out how to get the hash key working under Windows 7 (bootcamp) with an Apple-UK keyboard, please let me know.
    TIA

I've recently installed Windows 7 onto my 2011 MacBook Air.  The only thing that was a problem was the keyboard mapping for my UK keyboard.  A number of the punctuation keys were in the wrong place (e.g. the @ and the " were swapped).  I found this older post https://discussions.apple.com/message/9652475#9652475 which I followed and that seems to have put all my keys in the correct places.
Of course, I can't now find the # key because there isn't a hash key on the keyboard.  I guess I can use charmap in Windows 7 but that's clunky, but are there any other ways?
There's probably a way to amend the file from the post above so when I've got a few minutes spare I'll take a closer look at that too.

  • 2 hi res displays with TB to DVI-D under Bootcamp?

    Hello:
I do CAD work in the construction industry, currently using AutoCAD LT on a 2008 MBP running Windows 7 under Bootcamp.  As part of this process, I frequently print drawings and check them (mark them up) against a variety of consultants' drawings before they are issued.  I would like to eliminate the paper elements of this process.  In order to do so, I would need to run a 30" screen to display the consultants' drawings at a usable size (the printed drawings are up to 36x48), likely a 30" Apple Cinema Display or a Dell U3011, both DVI-D, both 2560x1600, while at the same time running a interactive pen display, likely a Wacom Cintiq 21UX, DVI-I, 1600x1200, (my own drawings are rarely larger than 11x17) so that I can effectively use the mark up tools in Acrobat Pro.
Will the new TB-equipped MBPs run this scenario with Windows 7 booted?  Will display resolution be maintained?  What external adapters/hardware might be necessary?  Any idea which MBP might have the minimum graphics card for this (I'm pretty sure I'll end up with one or the other 15" model, as I don't really have much use for a 17")?  Anybody have any experience with a setup like this?
I know I could buy a cheap (PC) tower with a beefed up graphics card to do this, but my job also involves a certain amount of travel and I would like to have my CAD work accessible with a minimum of hassle while on the road (without having to carry external drives or worry about whether or not I have saved the right files to my laptop).  I know I could also find a PC laptop that would do this (and I may have to), but the rest of my life is pretty focused on the Mac, and has been for decades, and I am pretty leery of PC laptops in general.  Finally, I know that I could probably set up some sort of common file area (a FAT partition?) and simply reboot as a Mac when the time comes to check drawings, but this seems cumbersome at best.
Any help or advice is appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Best, Marcel

Hi Paco, as I understand it the Monitor has to be first in the TB chain, which would require a Monitor with another TB port out.

  • I cannot hear voice through my headset under bootcamp win7.

I cannot hear voice through my headset under bootcamp win7.
would anyone provide update for Mac Air Boot Camp4.0 with Win7 32 bit ?
    thanks

There are quite a few posts about the same sound issues so the best thing to do is to do a search here for something like "no sound in headphones in Windows" or something similar and try the one that fits your problem.
Basically you have to enable them in the sound Control Panel, re-install just the Boot Camp sound drivers manually or possibly down load the sound drivers for your hardware (your sound card) from the manufacturer directly.

  • Running Acrobat 3D 8 capture on MacBook Pro under BootCamp

Has anyone tried running Acrobat 3D 8 (preview) on a MacBook Pro or Mac Pro or Intel iMac under BootCamp?
Specifically I am trying to find out if they are able to get 3D Capture (which requires OpenGL hardware acceleration) to work.
I have a MacBook Pro. I have not installed BootCamp yet. But if Acrobat 3D 8 capture works under BootCamp then I will install it. Thanks if any one has tested!

I have seen what you're asking about work on a MacBook Pro.

  • Matrox DualHead2Go DP Edition on MBP (May 2010) under Bootcamp Windows 7?

Will the Matrox DualHead2Go DP Edition be recognized and work under "Bootcamped" Windows 7 running on a Macbook Pro (May 2010)?
On a similar/related note, are there DisplayPort drivers for Windows 7 under Bootcamp to make the miniDP port to be recognized and work under it - even for something else, like the simple miniDP-to-DVI and miniDP-to-VGA adapters (if not for the DualHead2Go)?

Ok, I think this problem has been resolved, so I'll post the solution in case others with the Samsung Syncmaster 204B have the same problem. The answer was erasing the PRAM by holding Option-Command-P-R at boot up (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379).
This is what I think happened:
An update in Windows Update is available for the Syncmaster 204B, but wasn't visible when I first connected the Syncmaster. I wasn't able to see the update until I rebooted with the Syncmaster connected (after several crashes). After seeing the update in Windows Update under 'Optional Updates", called "Samsung - Display- 204T/204Ts/204B, Syncmaster Magic CX20Ts(digital)", I installed it, but bootcamp Windows continued to crash randomly after attaching the Syncmaster via both Mini Display Port-to-DVI and Mini Display Port-to-VGA. Sometimes it crashed after a few minutes, sometimes an hour, the same as before I installed the update.
I was convinced that it was a compatibility problem between Windows 7 x64, the Syncmaster 204B and the MacBook Pro 13" Mid-2010 hardware since this problem only happened when booting into bootcamp Windows 7 x64 (everything worked fine in Mac OS), but now that doesn't seem to be the case. I think the update fixed the problem, but after installing the update some of the of the original incompatible display settings remained resident in the Mac's PRAM. Erasing the PRAM cleared these settings and allowed the new updated settings to be loaded instead, fixing the crash issue.
