  • Sy-index vs sy-tabix

    hi,
i a bit confused of these 2. can let me know the difference?
    normally used in internal table?
what keyword can use these 2? read, insert, delete, loop, append, modify.
    thanks

    hi,
    SY-INDEX
The system field sy-index contains the number of loop passes, including the current loop pass.
There are four kinds of loops in ABAP:
    · Unconditional loops using the DO statement.
    · Conditional loops using the WHILE statement.
    · Loops through internal tables and extract datasets using the LOOP statement.
    · Loops through datasets from database tables using the SELECT statement.
    SY-TABIX
If the internal table is an index table, SY-TABIX is set to the index of the line retrieved.

    chk out this link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/fc/eb35f8358411d1829f0000e829fbfe/content.htm
APPEND sets SY-TABIX to the index of the last table row, that is the total number of entries in the target table.
LOOP AT sets SY-TABIX to the index of the current table row at the beginning of every loop pass. After leaving a loop, SY-TABIX is set to the value it had before entering the loop. With hashed tables, SY-TABIX is set to 0.

  • Synchronous RFC Receiver inside of a Loop in BPM

    Hi there,
we have a RFC -> XI scenario where a BPM needs to receive messages from a RFC inside of a loop, to bundle these messages, just like the first example here: <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/08/16163ff8519a06e10000000a114084/frameset.htm">http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/08/16163ff8519a06e10000000a114084/frameset.htm</a>.
But the problem is that the RFC is set as synchronous (best effort), thus we need to use a receiver in "Open S/A Bridge" mode, but this mode is not available for receivers inside a loop.
Actually, we have managed to get the scenario working by creating another BPM which just receives the RFC messages in a S/A Bridge, sends the asynchronous message to the main BPM and sends a response back to RFC, closing the S/A bridge. But I think this solution is kind of "messy".
Is there any other cleaner way of doing it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Henrique.

    Hi Henrique,
    Read this page carefully:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/43/d92e428819da2ce10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
    "Do Not Transfer Application Logic
Do not use integration processes to transfer application logic from the application systems to the Integration Server.
    No Replacement for Mass Interfaces
Check whether it would not be better to execute particular processing steps, for example, collecting messages, on the sender or receiver system."
I so recommend to rewrite the sending interface to collect the messages before sending.
Andother idea is sending the messages with an asynchronous call.

    DataSources
New DataSources have been created for NW 2004s BI Content Add-On 2 and SRM 5.0. These are described here, along with their extraction logic.
The following graphic shows the data flow from the DataSources to the DataStore objects
    Structure
Each DataSource has an extraction structure and a data extractor. Generally, this is an RFC-capable function module.
There are two types of extraction: Specific extraction and generic extraction:
Specific extraction is strongly oriented towards the data model of the BI System and the necessary extract structure. It executes DataSource-specific processing steps.
The logic contained within the generic extraction is implemented centrally and can therefore be reused by the specific extraction modules. The generic extraction deals with access to the SRM database and is similar for each DataSource.
    Generic and specific extraction
    Extraction logic in detail
Data extraction involves the following six function modules:
    InitLoad
InitLoad is called as soon as an initial upload is started in the BI System. In other words, it is executed when data is loaded into the BI System for the first time. The module can restrict the data extraction according to filter criteria that were defined in BI during extraction (for example, extract the data for a particular timeframe). InitLoad packages the data before it is transferred to the BI System.
    DeltaLoad
DeltaLoad is called when a document is modified in the SRM System. The module writes data that has accumulated since the initial loading to a delta queue.
    Data Collector
The Collector reads the required data from the database in the source system. For performance reasons, the data is then buffered in system-internal tables. The tables have the same structure as in the database. This saves time and effort, because data conversion is kept to a minimum.
    Data Consolidator
The Consolidator groups data that belongs together from a business point of view. The consolidated data is stored in internal tables and is prepared for further processing.
    Data Normalizer
The Denormalizer prepares the source data for the BI System. It calculates key figures that are required for the report but are not contained on the database and converts data types in the source system to data types of the BI System. Depending on the BI data model, the system now decides how each row is filled with data.
    Data Mapper
During mapping of the data, the system defines which fields of the denormalized data structure are assigned to the fields of the extract structure. In this way, flat and one-dimensional lines are generated from the data.
The following table shows the technical names of the function modules of the individual DataSources:

  • Infocube data extract to a flat file

    Hi,
I have a requirement to extract data from a infocube into a flat file and send it to a 3rd party. The data in infocube is coming from erp and another 3rd party system. This combined data in inficube needs to be extracted and send to another 3rd party system in a flat file system. Is there any generic function module that can be used or I have to extract from underlying tables directly. Pl. let me know your experiences.
    Thanks,
    Jassi.

  • ABAP dispatcher, JControl and ICM

    As we know,
If an ABAP instance is started with an additional Java instance, the ABAP dispatcher uses a signal to run a start command on the Startup and Control Framework, then JControl is started, and  JLaunch is started by JControl.
In ABAP + Java stacks system, we start and stop Java instance with transaction SMICM.
In ABAP + Java stacks system, ICM is started and monitored by the ABAP dispatcher.
Until now, I am confused about their relationship. Please advise on following questions.
Q1: When ABAP dispatcher sends a signal to start/stop JControl, is there any relationship with ICM? I mean whether ICM takes a hand in?
Q2: How does ABAP dispatcher start and monitor ICM?
    Thanks so much.
    James

    Hi
When ABAP dispatcher sends a signal to start/stop JControl, is there any relationship with ICM? I mean whether ICM takes a hand in?
No It would not as ICM is only responsible for Internet communications. It doesnot take care of the internal communications.
The communication between the ABAP and J2EE is due to JCO rfc that is present between them.
Please read these links: These would clear some confusions:

  • SAP XI Functionality

    Hi Experts,
I was trying to find out some of the base EAI functionality on SAP XI and got confused with these below items. Hope will get answers in SDN.
<b>1.</b> when a process(integration process with BPM) is in error, can I restart the process from SAP inbox(when the error occurred, it should send an SAP mail/alerts to inbox)?
<b>2.</b> In BPM can we sequence messages from the message data(if I am receiving multiple orders, and I have to post as per the sequence)?
<b>3.</b> What is the facility available to track duplicate message(if I am receiving same message multiple time and I have to process only once and rest I have to discard)?
<b>4.</b> Is it possible to prioritize message in SAP XI? if yes, how?
<b>5.</b> in BPM if I am collecting messages and merging it, can know the details about process like how many messages already merged while the process is running?
<b>6.</b> Can we implement batch lookup process in mapping(if i have an order with multiple item for which i need cross ref data, can execute lookup once and get data for all items)? Can I retry the lookup if it fails first time with a counter or with manual interventions? is it possible to do a lookup 2nd time only for the data which has got failure on first time?
<b>7.</b> How can we handle error(say, if I have to send an alert) while doing lookup?
<b>8.</b> While sending an alert, is there any facility available to customize the message(if I need to add any help tips, or some dynamic data from xml message, or different type of message for SMS and email etc.)? Can we do deadline monitoring for notifications? Can we send message in different languages?
<b>9.</b> Is there any specific way SAP XI handles bulky messages(say 200mb)?
<b>10.</b> Can I search for a message in SAP XI with the data(say order no, sales org etc.) available in the message body?
Please through some light on these.
    Thanks,
    Sri.

Reconciliation of Messages in BPM - /people/krishna.moorthyp/blog/2006/04/08/reconciliation-of-messages-in-bpm
    2. In BPM can we sequence messages from the message data(if I am receiving multiple orders, and I have to post as per the sequence)?
Yes it is possible thourh send step through serialisation or using spcified queue
    3. What is the facility available to track duplicate message(if I am receiving same message multiple time and I have to process only once and rest I have to discard)?
Yes it is possible maintain the correlation and loop in that loop check the availability of msgs but this is based on msgs numbers or certain period only.
    4. Is it possible to prioritize message in SAP XI? if yes, how?
    yes
    5. in BPM if I am collecting messages and merging it, can know the details about process like how many messages already merged while the process is running?

    6. Can we implement batch lookup process in mapping(if i have an order with multiple item for which i need cross ref data, can execute lookup once and get data for all items)? Can I retry the lookup if it fails first time with a counter or with manual interventions? is it possible to do a lookup 2nd time only for the data which has got failure on first time?
I hope each time one it is possible, you can call multiple but this is not sure and performance wise also not suggeted.
    7. How can we handle error(say, if I have to send an alert) while doing lookup?

Upgrade from BW 3.5 to BW 7.0 (BI 7.0)
    Hi,
Some features of BI 7 are
    1. In Infosets now you can include Infocubes as well.
    2. The Remodeling transaction helps you add new key figure and characteristics and handles historical data as well without much hassle. This is only for info cube.
    3. The BI accelerator (for now only for infocubes) helps in reducing query run time by almost a factor of 10 - 100. This BI accl is a separate box and would cost more. Vendors for these would be HP or IBM.
    4. The monitoring has been imprvoed with a new portal based cockpit. Which means you would need to have an EP guy in ur project for implementing the portal !
    5. Search functionality hass improved!! You can search any object. Not like 3.5
    6. Transformations are in and routines are passe! Yess, you can always revert to the old transactions too.

  • How to create a view?

    HI friends,
Can any one help me out in creation of view i am suceeded in creation but while display it is showing no records
i think i am going wrong in selection conditions....can anyone give me clear steps to create a  view.?

    Hi,
The followings are different types of views:
    - Database View (SE11)
Database views are implement an inner join, that is, only records of the primary table (selected via the join operation) for which the corresponding records of the secondary tables also exist are fetched. Inconsistencies between primary and secondary table could, therefore, lead to a reduced selection set.
In database views, the join conditions can be formulated using equality relationships between any base fields. In the other types of view, they must be taken from existing foreign keys. That is, tables can only be collected in a maintenance or help view if they are linked to one another via foreign keys.
    - Help View ( SE54)
Help views are used to output additional information when the online help system is called.
When the F4 button is pressed for a screen field, a check is first made on whether a matchcode is defined for this field. If this is not the case, the help view is displayed in which the check table of the field is the primary table. Thus, for each table no more than one help view can be created, that is, a table can only be primary table in at most one help view.
    Go thru this link plzz
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/cf/21ecf9446011d189700000e8322d00/frameset.htm
Difference between "Help View" and "Search Help"
    - Projection View
Projection views are used to suppress or mask certain fields in a table (projection), thus minimizing the number of interfaces. This means that only the data that is actually required is exchanged when the database is accessed.
A projection view can draw upon only one table. Selection conditions cannot be specified for projection views.
    - Maintenance View ( SE54 )
Maintenance views enable a business-oriented approach to looking at data, while at the same time, making it possible to maintain the data involved. Data from several tables can be summarized in a maintenance view and maintained collectively via this view. That is, the data is entered via the view and then distributed to the underlying tables by the system.
Please have a look at below link. It will help you.

    3. Create
    4. select type of view you want to create. Such as database view.
    5. give short description
    6. give a table name such as mara
    7. press the pushbutton relationship. here you will find all the tables which are allowed to create view with mara.
    8. select one or mane tables.
    8 copy
    9.save , check and activate.
