Sapkprotp location on content server?

Experts,
I'm trying to connect via RFC from my KW system to my content server using program sapkprotp.  I need to install the sapkprotp on my Unix content server so the RFC will work.  I have a copy of this file on my KW system and am planning on copying to my content server.
Where do I put the file on the Unix content server so RFC will recognize?
Thanks,
Jeff Martens

As always - if it´s urgent, open an OSS call.
Your ODBC connection is not correctly set up. Did you change something? new database version?
you did not post any information, content server version, database version, operating system. without a minimal context, one can just gues what´s your problem.

  • Content Server refresh

    guys,
we are planning a 3 system landscape here for ECC - DEV, QA and PROD. And a two system landscape for Content server - DEV and PROD.
I am planning to connect R/3 DEV and QA to DEV content server (2 different repositories) and R/3 PROD to PROD content server. Now, if i think about it, whenever i refresh R/3 QA with the R/3 PROD data, the document links in QA wouldnt make anymore because the data in DEV content server wouldnt match anymore. So does this mean I will also have to refresh the DEV content server with PROD content server everytime I refresh R/3? Is there an easier way out ?
Please advise as to what you all have seen or done in other projects.
    thanks,
    RS

    Hi,
I had the same scenario in the past and I did below things:
    1) Dev and QA system connected to same content server but with different repositories.
    2) Repository of QA system has same name as production server repository.
    3) So, when we refresh QA from PRD then same content repository will come in the quality system, you just need to change content repository settings in QA system. After do the below step:
    Relocating Using Export and Import
Ensure that no new data is saved to the affected repositories during the relocation procedure.
Use report RSCMSEX to export the repository.
Create a repository of the same name on the target content server and change the Customizing of the repository so that it points to the target content server.
Import the data into the target repository using report RSCMSIM.
Delete the relocated repositories from the source content server.
The program sapkprotp controls the export and import. sapkprotp is started on the application server by default. If required, you can start sapkprotp on the content server or on another server. To set this up, enter an RFC destination when starting the report. Set the path of the transport file relative to sapkprotp.
You should use this option if sapkprotp is not available on the application server (so far, sapkprotp is not available for AS/400). You should also use it if the content server is at a remote location, to avoid the data being transferred twice over the WAN.
    Thanks

  • Cache server-Content server

    Hi,
        1. What is the procedure to copy originals from local content server to central content servers located at different geographical locations. (There is a report  SAPKROTP, but i am unable to execute it). Even if copy it, will it display in DIR as two different files.
       2. About Cache server : As name implies it is a temp storage and based on reference from SAP help and few other documents, it is very clear that documents cannot be checked in cache server. Also We are not defining cache server in OAC0 and OACT settings. Hence Can we check-in originals in cache server?.
If any of you have worked with multiple caching and multiple content server distributed environment, please mail me the document. My mail id is [email protected]
    Prasanna
<b>Points will be awarded for useful answers</b>

    Hi Prasanna,
A Cache Server is used to store copies of documents when they are accessed for the first time. As a result, the documents can be accessed again more quickly, since the contents are taken directly from the Cache.
With Cache the Originals documents are stored in one location on content server. The copies in the cache can be replaced with newer content at any time.
The Original document will still be located on the Content Server
The Content Server can Retrieve the cache Content at any time
As earlier i had told you that any number of content servers can be installed in different locations. The contents are transferred directly b/w the client & content server. If the Content server are accessed from different locations that are linked via WAN cache servers should be used.
You need to install one Cache Server at each location on WAN for enhancing the performance & Reducing the traffic in Network. So Cache server is used only for speeding up accesses of documents stored.
For Customizing the Multilayer Cache Servers & Content Servers follow this SAP NOTE <b>0216419</b>
Hope following this Note will help you & solve your problem.

I tried resolving both the file location and the http address from within the Content Server box and was able to without problem so I know it's not these it can't see.

It appears that the Content Server is trying to access this xml file via the public url for the image server which, due to firewall configurations in this environment, it won't be able to do. I'd like to be able to change how it looks for this file to be http://<SERVERNAME>/imageserver rather than http://<PUBLICURL>/imageserver
Where is it getting this from for me to change it?
Thanks in advance for your advice, hope my problem description makes sense :-)
    Anita

    Hi Diane,
No, we haven't fully resolved this yet. In addition to the issue listed we've come across a number of others that look like problems from install. We've reached the point where it's looking more effective to try and uninstall Content Server and do a clean install from scratch rather than debug every little thing.
As part of the new install we're changing the architecture to create an internal ImageServer on the CS server and then use a scheduled task to push everything out to the external ImageServer on the portal box overnight. This should get around a number of the firewall and dns issues currently making communication between the two quite difficult.
We recently installed another 5.0.2 portal in a different environment and have had none of the same issues with it so we're a little perplexed. When we get this resolved I'll be happy to write a note about what it was. In the meantime if you get anywhere with yours please let us know.
    cheers
    Anita

  • Error while starting the content server

    Hi,
I have installed UCM and when i start the content server, it says it was succesful but logs show the below error.
Unable to publish the schema. Published schema directory could not be swapped into its proper location. [ Details ]
An error has occurred. The stack trace below shows more information.
    !csSchemaUnableToPublish!csSchemaFailedToMovePublishedFilesIntoPlace

         at intradoc.server.schema.StandardSchemaPublisherThread.run(StandardSchemaPublisherThread.java:252)
    ANy idea wats going on.
I have done the required changes in the confd of the webserver, Content server is accessible from the webpage. I am also able to login as sysadmin.
    Not sure wats going wrong.
    Thanks

You can sometimes get issues on the file system with file locking occurring and so UCM can not clear up/move the schema files properly.
It may not be this but...There should me a metalink note about this deleting schema directories.

  • How to install new instance on Stellent Content Server

    Hi All,
I have installed Stellent Admin Server and Content Server with the instance name "idc".
Now I want to install one more content server "idc1" on same Admin server.
So is there any appropriate way to do this?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Vishal Shah

    Hi
You can do it but there is one very critical exception to do it depending on the Webserver that you are using :
    1. Is you are using Sunone Webserver then you cannot install multiple instances of CS on the same webserver instance.
And if using IIS then the only thing that you need to do on the webserver front is to restart the Webserver after the second instance is installed so that the webserver picks up the config entries made for the second instance's install.
With Apache webserver you will have make the entry in the httpd.conf for the second instance as you had done for the first instance
    Eg for this is :
    This is my first instance:
    LoadModule IdcApacheAuth "D:/oracle/ucm/cs2/shared/os/win32/lib/IdcApache22Auth.dll"
    IdcUserDB cs2 "D:/oracle/ucm/cs2/data/users/userdb.txt"
    Alias /cs2 "D:/oracle/ucm/cs2/weblayout"
    <Location /cs2>
         Allow from all
         Order allow,deny
         DirectoryIndex portal.htm
         IdcSecurity cs2
    </Location>
    This is my second instance:
    LoadModule IdcApacheAuth D:/oracle/ucm/idc1/shared/os/win32/lib/IdcApache22Auth.dll
    IdcUserDB idc1 "D:/oracle/ucm/idc1/data/users/userdb.txt"
    Alias /idc1 "D:/oracle/ucm/idc1/weblayout"
    <Location /idc1>
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
    DirectoryIndex portal.htm
    IdcSecurity idc1
    </Location>
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Using Content Server 5.02 for Header/Footer Now

I'm trying to migrate our 5.01 deployment to 5.02. One of the problems I'm having is the header and footer that I created before don't show. I had assumed that installing Content Server wouldn't impact my old header/footer that I created with the Branding Engine. Does anyone know what I have forgotten or haven't set? Also, I get an error when I try to create a new header or footer. - "Gateway was not able to access requested content. If the error persists, contact your Portal Administrator."
I'm running the java version of 5.02 on Tomcat. Below is the PTSpy when I try to load a page.

You should check the URLs and gateway space URLs in the "Branding Web Service" object. It seems like they are not pointing correctly to your Branding Engine/Content Server. The base URL should of course point to the location at which CS is running, while the gateway space should also include the Community Published Content URL.

  • Moving SAP Content Server/MaxDB 7.6 to a Windows 2008 R2 Server

    Hi All.
We are in the process of upgrading our server where the SAP content server is located.  We are going from SAP CS 6.30/MaxDB 7.6 to a Windows 2008 R2 server where we want to install SAP CS 6.40/MaxDB 7.8.  I have been following the latest manual from SAP for upgrading to MaxDb 7.8  (2010-10-05) from MaxDb 7.6 using the in-place method.
To date we have installed MaxDB 7.6 on the server.  We restored our latest backup and performed the index checks as spelled out in the manual.  I have the database in ADMIN mode and went to run the MaxDb 7.8 install for the 64 bit window version.  THe install GUI comes up, but the Update selection is grayed out.  This tells me that the install program can not detect our existing database.  I did make sure I was running the install as Admim so I do not think that is the issue.
This is the second time I have tried this upgrade.  The first time I did a comand line upgrade by runing the .bat file DBUPDATE.bat. We have a 110 Gbyte database and this upgrade ran in about 15 minutes, and of course when I went to openthe database it was toast.  Do not want to make the same mistake again.
One other point, since we did a restore of the database, then the index check, we did not run a backup as the manual suggested as we felt it was not necessary.  Does the system require a backup before upgrade and that is why it does not see the database?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I beleive we have resolved the issue with upgrading the database, but now we are having a problem with Datbase Studio 7.8.  Before the upgrade we used Data Manager 7.6.  After the upgrade we installed Database Studio 7.8 and when we go to start it up, we are getting the Problems opening perspective 'com.sap.sdb.tools.ut.perspectives.mainPerspective'. I followed the instruction in another post Problems opening perspective in Database Studio, but we still are getting the error.
Can anybody offer any assistance as we are getting close to the weekend when we want to do the cutover and we are not even done with our first pass at upgrading the SAP content server.
    Thanks
    John

  • Content Server - Print Attached PDF

    Dear experts,
we have the following requirement -
print (preferrably in batch mode) the attached PDF documents from DMS.
The documents are located at the content server.
    To reduce the network load
the documents should be accessed directly from the content server,
because the Content Server is located in the same building,
and the SAP system is located at the remote location.
Could you please provide some hints how to fulfill this requirement?
Is it possible to print PDF document directly from Content Server?
Is it possible to do it in the batch mode?
Thanks a lot for your responses,
    Andrey.

    hi,
method-1, configuring Archivelink for printing doc from CS directly,
    see url
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/EN/5e/566039b85f9443e10000000a114084/content.htm
    custamizing print lists,
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/EN/5e/566039b85f9443e10000000a114084/frameset.htm,
There are two methods for storing print lists.
a.storage request is issued before the report program is executed.
This storage variant enables you to integrate index information and hyperlinks into the print list.
1.In the menu bar, choose System ->Services-> Reporting.
2.Enter the name of the report program and choose .
    3. The selection screen for the report is displayed.
    In the menu bar, choose
    Program ->Execute and Print
    A dialog box is displayed.
4.Enter the required data, then choose Attributes.
    A dialog box is displayed.
5.Choose the Overview tab page, expand the Spool Control node, and double-click Storage Mode.
    A new window appears.
if you set the flag Display this Field on Initial Screen, the window is displayed on the initial screen when you next call the function. This will avoid having to carry out step 5 in the future.
6.Use the input help to choose Store Only or Print and Store.
    This opens an input template.
7.Enter the ArchiveLink parameters and choose .
    A dialog box is displayed.
    Choose .
The screen output of the report is displayed.
The spool creates a main file and a description file, and sends the storage request to ArchiveLink.
    b) The storage request is issued after the report program is executed.
This storage variant does not allow you to integrate hyperlinks and index information into the print list.
1.In the menu bar, choose System ->Services-> Reporting.
2.Enter the name of the report program and choose .
The selection screen for the report is displayed.
    3.Choose .
The screen output of the report is displayed.
4.In the menu bar, choose System-> List ->Print.
    A dialog box is displayed.
5.Continue as in variant a) from step four.

  • Content server for Document attachment through "services for object" Icon.

    Guys,
I have typical problem in installation of Content server for storing external documents.
We all know that we can attach the document in SAP using the icon “SERVICES FOR OBJECT”. By this we can attach the document to the specific object we want.
-Since my client wants only document attachment method not to completely implement SAP DMS, I proposed this method of attaching documents through services for object method.
-If documents are stored though services for object ,The attached document will directly get stored in sap database(correct me if I am wrong) while  in  DMS it ask you to select the storage location while u check in for any document
-By storing the doc thru "services for object " For long run when we store the documents in sap database our system will drastically get slow down.
-In this regard I have a plan to incorporate external storage server.
-Now I should know that how I should customize content server configuration so that the attachment through services for object will store into this content server I need to know how to define Client, Content Category, Content Repository, Document Area, Physical Machine, IP Address, Port. (OACT & OAC0)
I appreciate for immediate solution and <u><b>Points will be rewarded for sure.</b></u>
    Regards,
    Murali.S

    Hi Murali,
    Don't Worry, its possible,
All attachments can be stored in SAP Content Server also, but through archiving process.
Set up a database storage system.
    Preparation
Make sure that the HTTP plugin is active.
Transaction <b>SMICM,</b> "Display Services" function key (shift F1)). The list of services must contain a port other than 0 for HTTP.If not, you must adjust the relevant profile parameter.
    <u>Typical entry:</u>
    icm/server_port_0         PROT=HTTP, PORT=1080, TIMEOUT=900
<b>Make sure that the /sap/bc/contentserver service is active.</b>
If no user is defined, then use transaction SU01 to create a new user. Use the "System" user type.Assign
the SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW profiles to the user. (Eg: HRUSER/PLMUSER/PPUSER etc)
Transaction <b>SICF,</b> select: default_host - sap - bc -contentserver. Select the function to display/change the service. Make sure that a user is defined.
Using the relevant data from the newly created user, maintain the anonymous logon data for the
/default_host/sap/bc/ service and save & activate the changes in transaction <b>SICF</b>.  Double click on content server and give the user name which has been created (HRUSER/PLMUSER/PPUSER/MMUSER etc)
    Check the system PSE.
Start transaction <b>STRUST</b>. Expand the system PSE. The system PSE must be "green" for each application
    server.
    Determine a suitable exchange directory.
The exchange directory must be accessible from each application server. If all application servers are running on the same platform (for example, Windows), one network directory that is accessible on all application server (for example,
server\share) is sufficient. You can generally use the global directory
(profile parameter DIR_GLOBAL).You can use the RSPARAM report to determine the profile parameters.
    Setting up the storage
Create a table for storing the data. Using transaction <b>SE11</b>, create a copy of the SDOKCONT1
table. If you want to create the repository database, you can name the table ZCONT_DB, for example. Save the
table as a local object. Activate the table.
    Create a repository.
Use transaction <b>OAC0</b> to create a new repository.
    Use the following parameters:
Repository Max. two characters, for example,” Z1”
    DocArea: ARCHLINK
    Storage type: R/3 database
    Storage subtype: normal
    Version no. : 0046
    Contents table <table name> for example: ZCONT_DB
Exchange directory <directory name> for example:
    server\share\
Make sure that the exchange list ends with a \ (or /on Unix). If you are using a variety of platforms, you must use transaction FILE to define a suitable logical file name and use this name. Save the settings.
    1. Maintain view table <b>TOAAR_C</b>, via SM31
Cross client table displayed as information, forget it
    2. In field 'StSytm' you must entered 'Z1' as your system need, or anything that you need but you must configure HR Archive link too.
    3. In field 'Arch.path' (direct above Spoolpath), entered path in your system, this real path in your operating system. May be you should confirm to your Basis consultant where exactly you could store picture files. So if you enter '/', your file exists at root directory at your UNIX system.
    4. Choose 'File store' radio button
    5. Save.
    First
<b>1. You have to create a number range for SAP ArchiveLink.
IMG: Basis Components-> Basis Services -> SAP ArchiveLink -> Basic Settings-> Maintain number ranges
(Trxn <b>OANR).</b> Create number range 01 from 0000000001 to 9999999999 without the external number flag.
    2. Document type <b>HRICOLFOTO</b> must exist with document class JPG.
        IMG: Basis Components->Basis Services->SAP ArchiveLink->System Settings->Maintain document types
        (Table<b> TOAVE, Trxn OAC2).</b>
    3. Document type <b>HRICOLFOTO</b> must be linked to object type PREL and Infotype PA0002.
IMG: Personnel Management->Personnel Administration->Tools->Optical archiving->Set up Optical Archiving
in HR.  (View V_T585O, no Trxn). In the first two columns there are minuses, the third (Date) has
a plus - don't put a flag in the check box.
    4. Check which content repository (Archive) is linked to document type HRICOLFOTO and object type
        PREL. IMG: <b>Basis Components->Basis Services->SAP ArchiveLink->Basic Settings->Maintain Links (Table
       TOAOM_C, Trxn).</b></b>
    Test
    • Test the repository.
Use transaction SE38 to start the RSCMSTH0 report. Specify your repository (i.e. Z1) and start the test.
The report must run without errors. If no problems occurred, you can use the new repository with Archive Link after you carry out the Archive Link Customizing. If problems do occur, check whether one of the related
    notes helps.

    <u><b>
NOTE:- Screen Shots are missing, i was not able to paste here, One more thing is we did this for uploading a PHOTOS into Content Server, Similarly you have to create a REPOSITORY and Z-TABLE to bring all the Attachments from all the selected Objects and then route them to the CONTENT REPOSITORY.</b></u>

  • The best place for content server

    Hello,
We need to install content Server . SAP ECC is in Paris .
The users who will use the content server will be in New-York.
Is the best place for content server in Paris or in New-York?
The question could be : Will a document (for ex. a pdf of 100 Mb) to be checked_in the CS be first transferred from frontend to ECC and then from ECC to CS or directly from frontend to content server ?
    Thanks

    Hi Oda,
If your users are in New-York, then better to have content server there to optimize network traffic and speed. There is something called as distributed content server concept where you can have different storage areas for different geographical locations.
And as far as i know, whenever files are checked-in, they are directly stored in content server and it will not route through the ECC. Only DIR stored in the ECC will be linked to the file in the content server.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Ravi

  • Content server - Cache server

    Hi,
We have installed content server and it is working fine. We would like to install cache server to access content server from different location to reduce the access time. Is there any document/guide to link cache server to the existing content server.
For ex.When the user in Delhi stores the original, it has to route through cache server (Located at Delhi) to the content server (Located at Chennai) and get stored in Content server.
My mail ID is [email protected]
    Prasanna

    Hi Prasanna,
the installation of a cache server is pretty similar to a content sever. Therefore it's covered in the installation guide of the content server. You find the installation guide on
    http://service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP Netweaver -> SAP Netweaver 7.0 (NW2004S) -> Installation
In the Window scroll down to the end. You find the Installtion Guides under
    3 - Installation - Standalone Engines - > Installation - Content Server 6.40 on UNIX
    3 - Installation - Standalone Engines - > Installation - Content Server 6.40 on Windows
On http://service.sap.com/ContentServer you find additional information including an FAQ answering your questions on the cache server.
