SAPPHONE (OR) ICI.

Dear all,
We want to enable E-mail functionality through our CIC Webclient. But we are using SAPPHONE interface to connect to AVAYA (CTI) system.
As my understanding from SAP Help documentation that, ICI supports Telephony and E-mail functionlities. ICI is inbuilt component of SAP WEB APPLICATION SERVER (J2EE Engine).
Now SAPPHONE has installed in a seperate system and we are running our tests on it.
As per our basis consultant we need seperate hardware (server) to install ICI and one more server for TREX. He said ICI does cost our company additionally to implement.
I went through some documentation which speaks of 'Certification' for each channel. As a SAP Customer do we need to go for Certification? or Telephony Vendor (AVAYA) will take care of it?
Do we need to buy ICI interface?
Do we really need seperate server for ICI?
Why do we need TREX server?
How can SAPPHONE interface supports E-mail functionality?
In a Call Center Project, whose responsibility to configure and setup CIC interface with CTI system?
I am totally confused about the architecture of total setup.
Please help me to understand these process and connectivity in a very clear manner.
Each suggestion and solution will be highly appreciated

Hi Anrei,
Thanks, I read through the help document besides trying find other documents in help.sap.com.
I guess I got it. SAPphone is a component inside CRM server as indicated by below help document:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_crm40/helpdata/en/28/797b14a9cf4296b02742f641c18971/content.htm
The CRM Server includes the IC WinClient framework and the following SAP applications:
·        SAPphone
SAPphone provides a telephony function to the interaction center. It allows data to be exchanged between the CRM Server and the telephony component.
·        SAPconnect
SAPconnect provides an integrated e-mail function to the interaction center. It enables communication management software to connect to the SAP system (for example, an e-mail server or SMTP server).
Although it is a help document for CRM 4.0, I think CRM 5.0 should have the similar archtechture.
I would score you as helpful, however, I still would like to see whether I could get answers for below points:
Is SAP CRM a mandatory component of ECC 6.0? In fact, I do not find it in 'Component version' inside our system.
Is SAPPHONE quite out-of-date and with limited support?
Do we need install new hardware for SAPPHONE?
Thanks.

  • Clarification about SAP CRM 5.0, SAPPHONE

    Hi Buddies,
    Long time no see.
Curently we are considering integrating SAP with our telephony system  AVAYA. According to our vendor, there are 2 approaches: SAPPHONE or ICI connectors.
It is clear that ICI connector will be based on latest version of SAP CRM 7.0 which we do not install at the moment, thus we are more probally to use the SAPPHONE connection acting as interaction center middle ware.
However, it is somehow confusing about SAPPHONE approach. It is said to be neccesary to apply CRM 5.0 as system enviroment.
As I know, CRM 5.0, not like CRM 5.1 and later web application versions, is a component inside R3 system.
Is it neccessary to install CRM 5.0 first before activating the TCI via SAPPHONE?
Is CRM a middleware between SAPPHONE and telephony system or SAPPHONE itself is a component of CRM 5.0?
Is SAP CRM a mandatory component of ECC 6.0? In fact, I do not find it in 'Component version' inside our system.
Is SAPPHONE quite out-of-date and with limited support?
Do we need install new hardware for SAPPHONE?
Sorry for asking so many questions at the same time. We really need to clarify all misunderstandings before evaluating the approaches.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

  • How to enable Free Seating feature for CTI in IC Web Client?

    Hi Gurus,
Cisco needs this following versions features to integrate the Cisco Unified crm connector for SAP.
SAP Interface and Release Level Requirements:
    ‐ CA-ICI-CTI 6.2 - Integrated Communications Interface u2013 CTI
    6.20
    ‐ SAP NetWeaver Application Server 6.10, 6.20, 6.30, 2004, 7.0
‐ SAP ICI Free Seating feature is required
I would like to know little more details about SAP ICI Free Seating Feature. If I have the latest ICI version with this feature, does it mean, automatically it is available for usage or any licensing has to be done separately to enable this? I am new and dont have much idea how this licensing part works in SAP.
Thanks in advance for your response....
    Thanks,
    Kumar

    Hi Kumar,
As far as I know, to identify the patch which has the required version of this component, you can refer to the respective Interface specification document of the ICI Version.
Alternately, you can also contact the SAP certification center to get more information pertain to this.
You can also find more information in the Blogs below:

    Hope this information helps !

  • CTI Configuration

    Hi
Can anyone help me out with CTI vendors? Also tell me the various steps that I need to take in order to configure CTI?
    Thanks
    Tarang

    Hello Tarang,
For a primer about using CTI (Computer Telephony Integration) with the SAP CRM Interaction Center, please see my Blog, "What is CTI and Why Do I Need It". Link:/people/john.burton/blog/2007/10/29/what-is-computer-telephony-integration-and-why-do-i-need-it
Configuring of the CTI product will depend on the chosen vendor, and each vendor has their own installation guides. The process will also depend on which SAP interface the vendor supports. For an overview of the two CTI interfaces that SAP provides, please see my other Blog, "SAPphone Interface Vesus ICI (Integrated Communication Interface)." • Which telephone software for ICI ?

    Hello,
at the moment we use snapware via sapphone for the integration between sap and the pbx.
My question now is what software can we use instead of snapware because
we want to use the ICI - interface ?
Which manufacturers are on the market ?
    Thanks Gerd

    Hi Gerd,
    1. Access URL http://www.sap.com/ecosystem/customers/directories/SearchSolution.epx
    2. In box called SAP-Defined Integration Scenarios, select ICI-CTI 3.02
    3. Click on Search
There are several ICI-certified partners such as Avaya, Cisco, Nortel, Ericsson and others.

  • Difference Between SAP Phone & ICI

    Hi All,
We are planning to implement CRM IC WebClient using CRM 5.0. Currently we do not have any phone integration but we would like to consider doing so.
Can somebody please explain me the difference between using SAPphone Vs using ICI? Irespective of which ever option we use, do we still need a CTI Server?
What are the advantages that ICI has over SAPphone? Can we have Email Integration using SAP phone?
    Anirudh

    Hi Aniruth,
When a Company implements CTI integration for the first time, they have to see 2 option of interfaces.
One is SAPphone and another ICI interface.
Older SAPphone is mainly for telephony only integration in ICWinClient. It does not support other communication channels like email and webchat.
ICI interface  is used for web based applications like ICWebClient. A Multi-Channel Server would connect with ICI to integrate with ICWebClient.
ICI and SAPphone are the interfaces that is used to integrate the CTI with the Interaction Center.
So you still need a CTI to route calls, access customer information from CRM system and display on ICWebClient etc..
    Give points if it helps!!

  • ICI adapter development (IC Web Client)

    Hello, all
We are developing ICI adapter(like Genesys Gplus)
    using ICI Interface Specification and
    two wsdl files(IciSystem-3.10.wsdl and IciUser-3.10.wsdl).
But method getWorkcenterCapability does not run.
Other method not related Free seating are
    running correctly.
We think wsdl files we got are old version.
Do you know how to get new wsdl file?
    Thanks,
    Ryousuke Miyazaki

    Hello friends,
we have installed gplus adapter for sap-erp integration. Can some one please let me know how to configure a connection between sap application server and an Adapter.
We got stuck in creating a SAPphone server on sap. In transaction SM59 while creating a new TCP/ip connection RFC destination, we need to set the RFC destination name and program id .
what should be the value for program id? Do we need to code a RFC for this ? cos be gave the program id as SPS.PROG as mentioned in the gplus deployment guide, but the connection test failed.
Can someone please help me in fixing this.
Just one more, how to obtain SAP RFC SDK binary files? Shd these binary files need to be placed in the gplus working directory? Does the tcp/IP connection failed due to missing binary files?
Thanks in Advance. please reply me on [email protected]

  • SAPphone for CRM 7.0

    Hi Expert,
I am upgrading from CRM 4.0 to CRM 7.0.  We are using Win client in 4.0.  In 4.0, our CTI vendor developed a simple RFC call SPS_NEW_CALL so that the SAPphone dialog box pops up when there is an incoming call.  I hope to stick to SAPphone for time being before going to ICI when the opportunity arises.  My question is - is it posible to convert to web client base on what we have now - a simple RFC call SPS_NEW_CALL?  What do I need to realise this?
    regards
    HWS

    Hi,
thanks for that one, I've read this before but didn't mention that we've got no JAVA stack available. So we'd be looking for a solution that is fully possible with only the ABAP stack.

  • ICI - How to display custom error messages in SAP CRM

    Hello,
we are working on a custom Contact Center which interfaces with SAP CRM Version 7 with Enhancement Package over ICI.
The basic call functions like accepting, hanging up, holding and retrieving are fully implemented and are working already.
Our goal is to display error messages in the CRM so that clients know there is something wrong, for example why he can't be log in successfully (e.g. the telephony server isn't reachable).
We already found the ICI Documentation file which provides us the CRM SOAP error codes and tried to send SOAP Fault messages, but never got
    them to screen.
Please find an attached example screenshot what we mean exactly, reproduced by trying to make a call with CRM user while BCM CDT isn't
    running in the background.
Regarding to this topic we've the following questions:
    - Is it possible to display custom error messages on the CRM or is this functionality limited to SAP?
    - Could you provide us some further information on how to use this feature exactly (implementation details?) and how the SOAP XML should look like to get it work?
    Thank you in advance!
    Best regards

I need to create an entity adapter and attach an error handler with the adapter? or can i handle that in the event handler itself. I coulnt find any api for handling errorsYou can do it both ways but since we are talking about event handler now, then in 9.x you need to extend com.thortech.xl.client.events.tcBaseEvent class for creating a event handler. In tcBaseEvent class there are various flavors of handleError method. So use that as per my note earlier and you should be good.

The devices at the remote site in turn also need to be able to communicate with each other without having to use the VPN.

  • ICI 3.0 Adaptor development - How to start?

    Hi,
We need to integrate SAP-ICI with our contact center solution. (SAP CRM 4.0 IC WebClient.) I need to test the connectivity between SAP and my connector/adaptor software by exchanging at least one message. I have been trying to write such a program but don’t seem to get any results. Is there is any sample program that you can give me? Any programming language will do.
Am I right in saying that the first message is from SAP to Connector - setCurrentWorkMode?
I got the WSDL files (hopefully they are the right ones.). How do I know if they are correct?

Hello Jeff. Welcome to portlet development. A good starting point is to develop a small web app in .net first. Something as simple as a "hello world" in a web form. Within the administrator of portal, register the app server, the machine that you have the hello world web app, a new web service that points to the aspx file, and a portlet that uses the web service. Add the portlet to a page (My Page) and see what happens.
The tags you mention don't look like anything but asp.net tags that are server side based. Maybe a datagrid or something. (Plumtree folks, looks like that tag examples given are not appearing in this message when I am creating this reply to this post.)
Once you understand how portal interacts with your application, start playing with the EDK. There are some great samples. If you want, send me at [email protected] I'll send you a very basic .net c# app with some directions on what to do.

We are running a 5.0.2 .NET portal and have decided that we finally have enough time to work on some of the custom projects that have been on the wish list. I have not worked much with .NET (last worked with ASP 3 and C++), so I have been studying a variety of .NET resources as well as the EDK documentation and samples.
I am running into code in the samples though that does not appear to be .NET code and I cannot find in the EDK. Things like <COMPONENT, FONTnformation?<more findcan where specific, Plumtree are they If specific? or .NET in found not have something tags these Are tags.
If anybody has some suggestions on where to get started attempting to develop for the 5.0.2 platform, I would really be interested. I have read the EDK Development Guide front to back, but I am still not being able to find the meeting point between the EDK, .NET languages, and the custom functionality I am looking for. • What do ICI and IMS stand for?

On MSI's FTP site there seem to be two kinds of BIOS's, some with IMS in the name, others with ICI in the name.
The IMS's seem to be the ones that are publicly available via their website.
The ICI's are typically the ones that are suggested to try if your board shows bad DPC latency results.
Now I'm curious, what do IMS and ACI stand for? And what's the difference between these BIOS's?

/sbin => When it comes to binaries, this directory is where statically linked binaries live - Generally
Just run file against most of the commands you see in that directory.
/bin => This is where the binaries that users and the rest of the system normally use. When it comes to binaries, these are usually but not always dynamically linked type binaries.
