SARA: Archiving

Hi,
I am trying to run archiving transaction SARA and getting following error while trying to write step.
Error - Unable to open archiving file
Does anyone know what could be the possible reaons for this error? I think we may have some issues with creating logical and physical file paths. But any inputs would be helpful.

Hi Amol,
This might be authorization issue. Could you check whether the user under which you are running archiving has authorization profile S_ARCHIVE with proper activity to run archiving?
Also check whether the SIDadm has proper permissions to the archive folder.

Move client after SARA archiving

Hi.
We have an issue regarding moving a client to a different system after we have done arciving of the workflow-object. As en example we have:
P01: two clients 100 and 200
P02: one client 300
We have archived workflows on all clients and now we want to move client 100 to system P02 because of load-balancing issues.
How can we do this and stille be able to reach the archived workflows? The table with Archive Sessions is client-independant (ADMI_FILES), however when you look in transaction SARA it only shows the sessions for the client you are logged in for?
Is there a tool to achieve this, because regular client-copy only copies client-specific tables, and manual copy of client-independant tables such as ADMI_FILES is not possible, because that will ruin the existing tables on the other system.

would suggest to check SAP note 460620 (Migrating archive files) which deals exactly with your these situations with ADMI_FILES archiving table

SARA Archiving Idocs and the retention period , RSEXARCB

Hi Experts
I am having few questions on the Idoc Archivng -
1. I want to know the safe retention period for Idocs , I am planning to do archivng of Idocs which are 60 days older or more. How to determine the exact period for Idocs that we can keep in the database tables and also in the file system. What will the exact time in tables and also in Filesystem before we copy to a tape.
2. About program RSEXARCB , I want to schedule automatic background job for only Idocs which are in status 3 and 53 using this program every week. In this program I dont see any variable or any selection field where I can select this options. Is there any other program in SAP where we can select this options?
FYI - We are on ECC 5.0

But while making changes to the retention period i am getting following message:
                                                                                Diagnosis
A retention period has been entered for a profile value category, that
    is shorter than that of the billing document headers.
This is an invalid entry, because you cannot archive profile values
    before billing document headers.
System Response
The system does not permit you to save the retention period combination.
Procedure
Correct the retention period for the profile value category or the
    corresponding billing document header category accordingly.
Please guide.

Cannot open Payment Usage in FBL5N transaction as FI document is archived

Hi,
I can't open Payment Usage in FBL5N transaction (from Environment - Payment Usage) to drilldown from the document to its related invoices as this payment/clearing document has been archived . Is there any other way to find this relationship between the payment/clearing document and invoices? Can we find this information from SARA, archiving object FI_DOCYMNT? Please advise.

Hi,
In order to find that information you can use transaction SARI. For archiving object FI_DOCUMNT, you need to have one of its related infostructures (SAP_FI_DOC_002 or SAP_FI_DOC_DRB1) activated and filled in order to access the archived data.
In SARI, click on "Archive Explorer" button and then enter the data for archiving object and archive infostructure, then execute and look for the archived data you are interested (you'll have access to archive data from table BSAD for example).

Process Order Deletion and Archiving process

Using SARA, Archiving object is PR_ORDER or t-code COAC. Follow the step pre-process, write archive file, and delete from database.
I don't recall any prerequisite for archiving process orders. However, costing guys/girls often yelled to keep process orders for a very long while so you might want to check with their requirement (Note that archiving is more business-oriented than you think).
Before you can do so, you must follow the steps of process order life cycle (from create, release, tech.comp., close, deletion flag, deletion indicator, accordingly).
For deletion flag, and deletion indicator, you can set via COAC t-code. There is a set up for period lapse between deletion flag to deletion indicator to archive in order type configuration (residence time 1, 2). Process order, for example, must reside in database for 1 month after deletion flag and another 1 month after deletion indicator before you can archive them out if you set residence time 1,2 to 1.

Archiving a ztable with string/lob column

Hello,
We have a ZTable that is quite big.
Our functionals would like to preserve this information,
even if they rarely access it.
The table is independent of other tables.
This table contains a zone with the abap data type string.
This is stored as a lobs column in the Oracle database.
1. Is it possible to "sara" archive that kind of tables?
2. Where could I found examples of ADK abap delete/write/read/reload programs
for ztables?

Archiving failure: "Archive run not completed"

Hi all,
I'm trying to repeat a failed SARA archiving process using program RSREQARCH_WRITE, but I get below message, saying last archiving is not yet completed:
"Archive run not completed: 004440-001BWREQARCHR-ARC:20140805(0001) W"
Normally I would go into SARA, hit DELETE button, and then "Archive Selection" to choose the pending files to be deleted. However, when I do this, I have none.
Already tried note 1298247, but this does not apply (we have BW 7.3).
Any suggestions on how to repeat this pending archive?

How to deploying DESIGNER_5-10000951.SAR with sapcar

Hi all,
I wish to regenerate the ITS stylesheets on an EP Portal implementation and need the sap_preview/sap_generate service to do so.
In accordance with the note on this topic I have downloaded the above files but am at a loss as to how/where to deploy it.
I assume I need to be in a specific directory on ITS to ensure that the files are unpacked into the correct place??

copy the sar archive and sapcar to an empty directory. Extract the archive with
sapcar -xf DESIGNER_5-10000951.SAR
You will get three directories services, templates and webdocs.
Copy services\* to the services directory of your ITS installation, copy templates\* to templates directory of your ITS installation and webdocs to the location on your webserver.

We're about to archive tens of millions of SD_COND entries - mainly to reduce the number of change records we have in table CDHDR, of type COND_A (COND_A is the change document object for SD Pricing conditions and we have over 100 million of them! And is now causing a few performance issues).
Understandably this is going to take a long time to process so I was intrigued to read your post that no conditions should be maintained whilst the archiving programs run...
I've tried searching OSS but haven't been able to locate any information about this.
Could it be that you were referring to the old archive programs and not the newer ones such as those described in:

Any help you could offer would be much appreciated!

Archiving of documents in cFolders

My question is about the Archive functionality within Design Collaboration - Is it possible ???
I am able to archive documents and they are removed from Design Collaboration area but the questions were asked: where do they go, are they retrievable and how and by whom?
If it is possible, this is configuration question?

Hi,
You can select the collaboration to be archived on the collaboration overview and choose Archive. The system then sets a deletion flag and removes the collaboration from the collaboration overview and the cFolders system. (Delete authorization required)
The marked collaborations can then be archived using transaction sara, archiving object CFX_ARCH.

My client wants to get rid of them. Can I understand how we can achieve archival of Business Partners & Campaigns.Pls guide on steps.

Hello Munshi,
You can archive the data in CRM using txn:SARA.For this,
1. Identify the data (BPs and Campaigns) in CRM for archiving. (There is no standard report or process available, customer can do this manually or write their own report).
2. Archive these data (use transaction SARA) - Archiving will take a back up of these data and delete them from the CRM tables.
Again customer has to ensure that these data are not used in any business transactions, otherwise there can be referencing issues.
When data is archived in CRM Online the option to generate 'Delete Bdocs' should be checked.
Also in case archiving is done make sure that Note 778229 is applied.
After archiving the data won't be visible in CRM Online and then when
you run ConTrans the archived data will be deleted from MSA.

MM_SPSTOCK Archive Batch Master and Stock Relevant tables - Display options

We are archiving Batch Master and Special Stock tables. We have batch configuration set up at material level.
We have realised SAP does not provide a infostructure to display through SARI archived batches. Also read program MMREO210 is not very elegant and required the archive session to display further information.
We know that this object allow to archive partially: stock level (MCHB), plant level (MCHA) and finally if all dependencies are okay, batch master (MCH1).
Can we display archived batch data using any standard SAP transaction? As QA03 for Archived Lots or similar.
How should we create the infostructure for SARI access? MCH1-MCHA mapping? We are having problems when only MCHB entry is archived.
We are interested at least in a list of material / batch / plant archived with production date, SLED... key batch master info mainly.
