I want to use SARP to make my Stock Report. How can i create report thru SARP, means how can i create Report tree so that i can use this to view reports.

Dear Fellow members,
Good day to you!
I would need your advise on how to create report tree for the list of COPA reports created by users in Production. Note that currently power user is using KE30 to create these reports. Due to its sensitivity, I need to prevent users from knowing the list of reports created. Basically just wanted to allow user to execute the few copa reports revelent to his area like Channel P&L.

Thanks for your reply.
Before i can create the menu tree, i need to create the same report name and form name in DEV client, create the report tree with this report name. The report name & form name not necessary have to be t same format at the one in production client. meaning, you can create just a row and a column. That's it you can perform the normal landscape of transporting the report tree to QAS & PRD.

Create a tree node and show the report on the same page

Hi,
I have created a tree for our organization and each node represents a unit. The top one is office level and followed by division and brach.
I have created a reprot on the same page as the tree node.
What I want to do is:
I would like to click a specific node and the report shows only that node and bellow. So, If I click division A and division A has two branch. my report shows only those two braches that bellong to division A.

The only way it could work is using iframes. Now OBIEE 11g would not allow iframes inside it's dashboard. It offers a dashboard object called "Embedded content" which is a restricted iframe kinda thing but unless you get this object's id from generated HTML you can change it's content dynamically. Besides, such an implementation may break with next patch. So here is an idea.
Create a HTML page with two iframes, left one will hold all the reports with links (you can always generate a list of reports through catalog manager, open it in excel and make HTML links from it) that open report urls (in the format of ./saw.dll?GO&Path=....) in right iframe (using javascript open.window method). Once that page is working, call this page from dashboard using an action link. This is slightly twisted approach but at least it would give you what you asked for.
About making the report list dynamic, I am afraid there are no easy answers. OBIEE provides web service that will allow the users to query catalog to get a list of reports. You can try some basic JSP to access the web service and generate the list dynamically. But that is not something I can provide here.

Create Group Tree option no longer available in report designer

I am currently using Crystal Reports 2008 report designer to create reports which are embedded in our application. We deploy a run time version of Crystal within our application. In previous versions there was a report setting in the report designer to "Create Group Tree", this appears to no longer be available in Crystal 2008. My question is... Is there a way to enable this option outside of the report designer? Is there a setting that I am just missing? This is causing an issue since I cannot upgrade existing reports to the 2008 version without losing the ability to display the group tree. thanks

CR 2008 only has a .NET Report engine now so I moved your post to the .NET SDK forum.
I kind of recall this may have been and RDC API, there is no RDC in CR 2008 and the Embedded Designer is for use in the Visual Studio .NET IDE for creating reports only. No longer licensed to be used in an application nor can it be distributed. If you were using crpe32.dll it is no longer supported as of CR 9.

Is it possible to create hierarchical tree report (not group tree) CR2008?

Hi,
Is it possible to create hierarchical tree kind report using CR 2008(no group tree in the report)? The report somewhat look like below and a node can have multiple Child and so and so. Is there any magical way either as a chart or any object which supports the below structure.

its hierarchical tree structure and it should be in detail section of the report so that print in paper is possible.
Please help first of all, can we able to create a report in above structure(each item needs to be surronuded with box and the each last child will contain a table valued data.
(if I post this thread, it may look like plain text, please consider the above data as a hierarchical tree structure with child having N number of children)

Creating a Tree Reports

I would like to create a region that combines the following tree and report region features.
TREE FUNCTIONALITY:
- the ability to show/hide individual nodes.
REPORT FUNCTIONALITY:
- the ability to display multiple fields
- highlight search words
- have multiple drill down paths in one row.
I've played a little with the following two ideas:
1. Base the report on a collection that has a hide/show flag. Create a report link that runs a process that updates this field. My concern with this approach is performance. I found the report based on a collection takes more time than running directly against the database. In production this issue will be greater as every user will be caching a fairly large collection every time they log onto to the system.
2. Use the connect_by function to create a hierarchical sql result set and then use javascript to show/hide nodes. However, I could figure out how to hide nodes/rows using javascript.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

That tree is meant just for ZLM itself. That one uses it as the object
store where meta data of the all the bundles, devices, policies and so on
is stored. I should not be used for other things.
You know that ZCM 11 is out for a few months now and that is the next
version of ZLM. Not everything is in for the linux systems, but for the
windows systems. So if you plan to have both worlds, I would take a look
at that and see if it fits your needs better then ZLM which you can use
only for linux systems.

Report tree migration

Hi all,
I performed a report tree migration within the test client so the report tree which was in SERP is now in the area menu SE43.
However, it is just the structure of the tree that was migrated.
There aren't any private nodes and non of the report are executable.
Also there wasn't any transaction code assigned to any of the report ( i thought this was mean't to be assigned automatically by the system).
Has any one encountered this.

since from Rel.40A,there are some changes. Reports are included in Area Menus of applications. You can find out the relevant area menus for variuos reports in
trx.SE43N, and if F4,you can have list of all areas menus,including for reports
for various appliactions wise.
If you want to migrate your 'Report tree' created before, you nedd to use transaction RTTREE_MIGRATION.
In the transaction RTTREE_MIGRATION, all the reporting trees proposed are standard reporting trees, and not customer reporting trees !!!
Purpose of this:
This report transforms report trees that were created using old version of Trx.SERP(Rel.45B and older) to the area menu structure.
before adapting this read CAREFULLY all the documentation, clicking icon 'I' in the trx. before doing.
You can still view the old report tree in trx. SARP.
You may also read the documentation of release notes under 46A. path:help.sap.com >46B->Relase notes >release notes 46A > BC->FES >BC-FES-SEM >changes to Area menus and Report tree.
Please refer to the notes, 205771 and 207924
Also read the Release information BC_46_REPTREEMIG2. You find this information in every system under Help -> Release notes -> Complete list from Rel. 4.x -> Release notes as at 4.6A, Component BC-FES-SEM, document "Change to area menus and report trees".

Performance in the Server with the created report - Crystal Report 2008

      We have developed a complex report and deployed in the server. It takes more time to process and once if the report created and we are trying to expand a group/navigate different pages, the same time delay is happeneing. Sometimes it takes more than a minute which really kills the performance. My client has accepted the delay while the report is being genrated but they raise question like why it takes too much time just to display the created report.
I tried keeping the created report in Session and rebind on page_load as well stored a copy on the server and rebind whenver postback happens. Both methods working simliar and no improvement the in the performance. Is there any way to kill the time delay in this.( we have an idea like , if we store the created report at client machine and whenever postback happens just bind from client machine instead to hit the server back, Is this achievable)

   We have created a Stored Procedure and connected the SP to the crystal report.
What are you comparing the performance to? E.g.; is it faster somewhere else? How much faster?
    No, we didnt compare anywhere. but my question is to avoid the delay in navigation of pages or selecting an item in the group tree. The report contains 100+ pages and client is accepting delay while creating the report but not during navigation or selection( why do the already created report takes more time(even in minutes) to render on navigation or selection and how to avoid the delay))
Define "complex report ".
Nothing complexity in the report even we have used oly less formulas(less than 5) but chats are included and used for each group( we have 6 groups in the report)

I would like to create a report similar to the standard report S_ALR_87013611 - Cost Centers: Actual/Plan/Variance (i.e. have a report tree on left and report listing on the right). Is there any sample program I can reference to? Or which classes I can use?
I know how to create a report with a report tree and an alv grid. But I just have no idea on how to make a report with display like S_ALR_87013611.

Report Writer in a Report Tree

All,
I am having a problem migrating a report tree from a 3.1i environment to a 5.0 upgrade.
I have been successful with SAP Reports, Custom Z reports and ABAP Queries, but
Report Writer reports pose a problem.
To migrate I used the RTTREE_MIGRATION transaction SAP recommends. Seems this creates Y_ type transactions for some Custom Z reports and ABAP Queries. I have had to create Z t-code for the Queries and then override the generated Y_... transaction with the Z t-codes in the Area Menu.
The problem I am encountering with Report Writer / Report Painter is I believe the generated ABAP name assigned when the report is created seems to be a $TMP reports and the name seems to change whenever changes are made.
Im not sure if I can assign a Z t-code to Report Writer reports?
Any Suggestions?

Well lots of reports in sales are using GR51/52 I dont think so its name changes every time , llike for example you have cost analysis report in Tr.Co02 as well as you have series of reports in MM like Mc.1 to MC.9 .
Im not sure if I can assign a Z t-code to Report Writer reports?
You can assign the Z T-codes to the program it `ll work !!

Public / Private option in report tree

Hi all,
I'm creating a report tree using transaction SERP. While creating nodes in the report tree, I came across some configuration options.
One of which is the node attributes. Under this attribute, there are node type and authorization groups.
In node type, there is public and private option.
In authorization groups, there are inherited and new.
How are these options related and how does the different configuration affect access to these nodes?

I tried SE43N and it is allowing me to add a report that also have a transaction code.
The challenge, the structure/drilldown what i see there is not the same as the one i see in SARP transaction.
I need to add in a particular node in SARP. Any linkage between these two?
